Waiting for my 36 week appointment now. I am curious to see if the beastie flipped to head down. I can no longer tell which bit is the butt and which bit is the head. Walking up a small hill to the appointment gave me belly cramps. I've got cut and colour this Saturday, he cannot come before then! Priorities, clearly.

roarfeckingroarr · 30/09/2020 16:17

@Freddie1987 I wish it would grade itself up to a body that isn't hurty and knackered

@WaveStreet my bump goes solid especially at the top and it's uncomfortable. I've been having them for weeks now.

@Mc3209 it feels exciting. I'm nervous because it could happen any day now. Im hoping baby holds off until after my massage tomorrow evening! Maternity leave on Friday - CANNOT WAIT.

roarfeckingroarr · 30/09/2020 16:19

@Flora20 absolutely with you on the waves of exhaustion and also the BH. I've cut down exercise now because if I do normal amounts I'm absolutely out of it by the evening and I keep thinking that I could go into labour at any time.

DressingGown87 · 30/09/2020 17:20

@Flora20 with you on the waves of exhaustion. I think I’m ok, do something and then I can’t function. It’s so strange.

@SamK93 glad it’s a little bit better. Hope it doesn’t give you grief tonight, and you manage to get some sleep. Ooo yes, what do we call the new thread?

@1990shopefulftm glad your appointment went well. It’s so scary to think it can be anytime now.

@Mc3209 hope your appointment went well, and he’s flipped round.

Was going to ask, what have people got planned before the baby comes? I have a funeral, I want a steak, need to finish some work, have a wax, my hair done, and sleep for a day... and then she can come 😂

I’ve just put the cot up on my own! It’s wiped me, I used books and furniture to prob bits up, so I can get the screws in. The sense of achievement though made it worth it!

@DressingGown87 yes the midwife booked my next appointment and then said if you even need it but I m sure they say that to everyone. Apart from getting a takeaway on Friday and getting the next to me sorted I ve nothing planned till they re born.

DressingGown87 · 30/09/2020 17:43

@1990shopefulftm they booked my 39week scan in for the 15th but I’m being induced on the 13th. I said it was a waste of an appointment, but they said it was standard procedure. Takeaway sounds good, I might add another Chinese to my list.

FirstSurprise001 · 30/09/2020 17:49

@DressingGown87 had my nails and eyebrows done today, hair tomorrow, birthday on Saturday and then as far as I’m concerned he can be here! You’ve got me craving steak now!

My second little baby had to go to the vets today for a dental appointment and they took so many teeth out 😭 just absolutely balled my eyes out infront of the vet and haven’t really stopped since. Add the belly ache I’ve had all day and I’m ready to go to bed already 😭😴

@DressingGown87 that's a silly procedure when your baby girl will likely have already been born. I figured that having an Indian will be much harder to eat with a newborn that wants to be held so we re getting one whilst we can.

roarfeckingroarr · 30/09/2020 17:51

@DressingGown87 I have two more days of work, a 90 min massage tomorrow, brunch with friends on Sat, therapy Tuesday and spending the morning putting summer clothes away and getting autumn / winter out, lunch with some family Wednesday, a hair appointment with full head of highlights and a trim Thursday and then baby can come!!

Mc3209 · 30/09/2020 18:11

Ladies, I am officially on mat leave! 💃💃💃

@DressingGown87 he is head down now, whoop! He is measuring big off the chart on belly measurement today, so I've booked a private growth scan to double check the position and to estimate the weight a bit more accurately.

I need to get my hair sorted on Saturday, finishing my blonde before the baby comes and I wouldn't be able to get to the salon for a few months. Then I want to have many many naps (joys of not sleeping well in the night) and then he can come ☺️

WaveStreet · 30/09/2020 18:25

@1990shopefulftm i was told 3/5 engaged too but trying not to read too much into it as well.

@roarfeckingroarr whenever i get a different feeling it reminds me everything could kick off and labour could definitely happen at this point, scary.

@DressingGown87 good achievement on the cot. Hope you get your list of things ticked off in time, i can't wait for a steak! I have plans all through October and I'll just rearrange them if he comes early otherwise i think i'll be even more desperate for something to happen if I'm not doing much.

I run my own business and have no plans to stop working before he arrives, unless I'm unable to work. Struggling this week though, the last 2 days I've got in from work and spent the whole evening resting, I must need it so trying to keep busy but listen to my body at the same time. I have full admiration for you ladies that have other children that must be so tiring now.

@FirstSurprise001 sorry your poor doggy had a traumatic vet visit. It's horrible worrying about them isn't it, i would have cried too.

WaveStreet · 30/09/2020 18:26

@Mc3209 woohoo for mat leave and head down!

1990shopefulftm · 30/09/2020 18:43

@Mc3209 that's great news :) they do say bump measurements can be way out but a scan sounds good to get another look at them before they're born.

@Wavestreet yes, plenty of people say their baby wasn't engaged until the day they went into labour so I don't want to be too hopeful

Mc3209 · 30/09/2020 19:20

@1990shopefulftm midwives want to get another measurement at next appointment before acting on it. That would be at 38 weeks, and it feels like it's cutting it a bit too close for my comfort hence why I am getting a private scan.

1990shopefulftm · 30/09/2020 19:31

@Mc3209 it's understandable that you don't want to wait two weeks for them to check again

SophieJosie95 · 30/09/2020 20:02

What happened at your 38 week appointments ladies? I have mine on Friday and so far anything on my hospital green notes hasn't actually happened at my appointments! Just wee, blood pressure, ask how I am. A little info on sleep safety and breast feeding and that's usually it!

DressingGown87 · 30/09/2020 21:21

@FirstSurprise001 it seems hair appointments are a popular choice for us all. Aww hope your little fur baby feels better soon. Hope you manage to get an early night.

@1990shopefulftm ooo an Indian might help things along too.

@roarfeckingroarr sounds like you’ve got loads of nice things planned. Hopefully he will hold off another week. A 90minute massage would be perfect right now.

@WaveStreet I know, I’ve made a good dent in it now so feel better. I think I have that fear, that I will get bored. I am employed FT but also work for myself on the side, so not packing that in just yet, as I want to still build my name / business. So know how you feel. Listen to your body though, and then you need to rest do so, work will be there (hopefully) when we feel more alive.

@Mc3209 congrats on the MAT leave! With you on the naps. Glad your little one has turned now, you can feel a bit better. Hopefully the scan will give you some reassurance on size, and he was just stretching out.

@SophieJosie95 I’m consultant led so maybe a bit different. But they checked position, size on a scan. Urine test, went through my birth options and plan, booked me in for my induction.

@DressingGown87 I m not 37 weeks till Monday so I hope the Indian isn't too effective.

Glooorb · 30/09/2020 21:36

Hey ladies, long time no speak! Just wanna check in Smile

@EmmaA96 congratulations on your beautiful twins!!

Anyone got tips for colostrum harvesting? I've started last night but no success so far. I know not every mum will have them but I do want to collect some if possible... Do you have to press fairly firm on your boobs? If you didn't get anything first time, how long did it take for you to start seeing anything?

Also anyone started perineal massage? How are you finding it? I look ridiculous on the bed as I'm trying to get the right position to stick my thumb in. The joys of motherhood!!

roarfeckingroarr · 30/09/2020 21:45

@Glooorb I've been doing both. Colostrum - anyone looking through the window would think i have a heroin problem! I sterilise a spoon, get a new sterile syringe then gently squeeze my boobs down towards the nipple and catch all on the (cooled down) spoon, then take it out of the spoon with the syringe.
Perineal - in the bath. I've been doing it a few weeks now and it's less uncomfortable so I hope is doing something!

@DressingGown87 I cannot wait for the massage. I had a 60 min one last week and remembered I had forgotten to turn off the heat under the stock that was bubbling away at home about 10 min in. Totally killed it for me cause of worry. There was some seriously concentrated stock when I got home!

@Mc3209 congratulations on starting mat leave!! Two more very quiet days for me.

krissy12 · 30/09/2020 22:14

just catching up on the thread... silly question how did the midwives check baby was engaged. I was told baby was head down at my 28 week appointment and has been confirmed in a scan but no one has said babies engaged is it the same thing ?

krissy12 · 30/09/2020 22:15

also does anyone have a baby monitor they recommend?

WaveStreet · 30/09/2020 22:37

@Glooorb hope you're doing okay. Keep persevering with colostrum as maybe your body hasnt started producing prolactin yet.

I was going to ask about perineal massage too, we had one attempt the other night, DH helped as i can't seem to reach 😅 will try it in the bath next time. I find it hard to tell if it's doing the right thing.

@krissy12 my midwife just felt for the head at my 36 week appointment to check engagement.

roarfeckingroarr · 30/09/2020 23:42

@krissy12 at my 38 week appointment this week the midwife checked

krissy12 · 01/10/2020 08:22

thanks I'm seeing the midwife on Monday so will check then
