@FirstSurprise001 I know it’s so close. It’s the same round here, I couldn’t get a slot this week for delivery, but managed to get a click and collect. That’s rubbish that your feeling rotten, have you had your flu jab recently? I seem to feel groggy, but have put it down to that, and the sudden drop in temperature. Hope your feeling better soon.

@Mc3209 blissful ignorance sounds amazing, and just what I’m doing. But then have sudden waves of OH SH*T! Usually at 4am 😂

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt glad you’ve managed to get that day of AL! Enjoy it! Hopefully the baby waits and let’s you have that day of rest.

@SophieJosie95 not bored as such. Just frustrated I’m not being able to / having the energy to do the stuff I want to do.

So I’ve started Christmas shopping, and changed my will today!

I have a bath every day now. I also swim (only 20 lengths now) every day. It's the only time I feel comfortable.

38 weeks today!

Sls668 · 28/09/2020 07:05

@roarfeckingroarr we just had a bath fitted 2 weeks ago and it couldn’t have come at a better time - I could just stay in there all day every day! I do worry about boiling the baby though!

SamK93 · 28/09/2020 09:56

@roarfeckingroarr wow good on you for keeping up with swimming. I haven't swam in years. Is this your first?

1990shopefulftm · 28/09/2020 11:29

i think i might be getting lightening crotch for the first time, the pain shocked me a bit this morning so I dropped some of the cats food on the floor when I was giving her breakfast.

Flora20 · 28/09/2020 12:38

@1990shopefulftm A couple of times yesterday I had to stop and breathe through some very intense stabbing down there, think baby must be very close to a nerve! Ouch!

1990shopefulftm · 28/09/2020 12:45

@Flora20 i'm hoping it's a good sign but I know it doesn't really mean much.

SamK93 · 28/09/2020 13:25

@1990shopefulftm I've had this too the last couple of days too whilst I'm doing something it just comes on incredibly sharp.
I woke up with a sudden urge for malt vinegar and I couldn't help it and had a big gulp of it, I cant stop thinking about it 😩

1990shopefulftm · 28/09/2020 13:29

@SamK93 yes it only happens to me when I m stood up never when I ve been sat down doing something. Get some salt and vinegar crisps in?

Flora20 · 28/09/2020 15:13

@1990shopefulftm I'm really not wanting to spot 'good signs' at the moment as I don't want to go into labour before Friday (I mean, ideally after then, but Fri at the earliest!) otherwise I'm not allowed to stay at home! I'm getting a few twinges and aches that are concerning me on that front... Trying to raise myself that it's just because I'm not at work so got more time to spot things.

Flora20 · 28/09/2020 15:14

Raise? I meant convince...

1990shopefulftm · 28/09/2020 15:28

@Flora20 since I don't really do much with my days at the moment, I do find I notice everything so maybe that's what you're experiencing. I hope baby stays put for at least 5 days for you.

It feels so set in stone, that it has to be exactly 37 weeks to get home births or to use a midwife-led unit whereas a day early and those options are taken away from you.

roarfeckingroarr · 28/09/2020 17:49

@Sls668 baths are the absolute best at the moment. Couldn't do without.

@SamK93 I have a virgin active with a pool under my flat so it's pretty easy. Yes my first baby .

@1990shopefulftm I've also had the first bit of lightning crotch action! It's quite welcome if it means something may happen soon.

Four more days of work to go.

WaveStreet · 28/09/2020 18:02

We went away for a few days away last week and the hotel had a huge roll top bath i felt like i was swimming in it, it was bliss!

Had my 36 week scan today and midwife appointment today, DH allowed in with me and we got the most lovely 3d photo of baby boy 💙 just need to hurry up and get our diy finished and get practising hypnobirthing now 😬

Flora20 · 28/09/2020 20:03

@1990shopefulftm I know, it seems so arbitrary. Keeping my fingers (and legs!) crossed!

@roarfeckingroarr Still impressed at your swimming committment but at the same time it does sound a more appealing prospect if it's literally downstairs!

Mc3209 · 28/09/2020 22:28

When do you, gals, plan on setting up Next2Me and equivalents?

FirstSurprise001 · 28/09/2020 22:36

@Mc3209 the next to me has been set up since I was 12 weeks but just in the nursery 🙈 And I know it’s bad luck but the pram is also put together and in the utility room. I couldn’t resist!

First official day of maternity leave today, walked 10k steps in the morning, cleaned the skirting boards around the whole house and then slept for 3 hours. Pretty happy with that 😝

Mc3209 · 29/09/2020 07:31

@FirstSurprise001 congrats on starting mat leave! I am counting down to tomorrow 5pm 😬
We've set up pram as well, just couldn't wait to see how it is. Now I just need to figure out how to put a mattress protector in there without it wrinkling up underneath a bedsheet. Faffier that expected, who word have thought!
Going to set up a Next2Me this weekend! Bit may not attach it to the bed just yet. Don't want to add an extra complexity to night time loo trips.

DressingGown87 · 29/09/2020 08:09

@roarfeckingroarr well done for continue doing your swimming!

@WaveStreet glad your appointment went well, and your DP could join you.

@Mc3209 I did my bedside crib a few weeks ago, left it in the nursery though for now. Pram got built and put under the stairs too. I just have the cot to finish.

@FirstSurprise001 that’s sound a productive first day off!

I’m working on a “when you’ve finished the list your off” basis. Official MAT leave starts on the 12th, but will try get done and some annual leave beforehand. Now to find motivation.

OP posts:
WaveStreet · 29/09/2020 08:31

@Mc3209 we have the tutti bambini next to me which is pretty much assembled as it is so i probably won't put it in the bedroom until baby is home as I'll only trip over it in the night! Might keep it in the nursery until then.

@DressingGown87 hope you managed to get off on mat leave a bit early to give you a few extra days before she arrives, but don't work too hard.

1990shopefulftm · 29/09/2020 08:31

I'm thinking we'll get the next to me and Moses basket set up on Saturday and then just need to give the steriliser a test.

Got a midwife appointment tomorrow to go over my birth plan, I've written on it if i need an emergency c section under GA that I really want them to go through any benefits and risks with DH if he has to make any medical decisions for me and baby, but now I'm thinking is that someone they would automatically do anyway

DressingGown87 · 29/09/2020 09:02

@WaveStreet Thank you. I think if I could find the motivation I would be done by Friday. I've started Christmas shopping though as a distraction.

OP posts:
DressingGown87 · 29/09/2020 09:04

@1990shopefulftm I think they need someone to sign a consent form, and they go through it on that. That was my understanding anyways from my appointment. As I have signed something to say my BP can make decisions on behalf of my mum, who is my next of kin. I also had to change my will, to say if anything happens to me, who would have custody of my daughter, as she doesn't have a father.

OP posts:
Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 29/09/2020 09:05

We have everything assembled and piled up in the nursery!

The only thing we haven't done is tested out the new monitor system as we bought a new one with a camera.

I've suddenly gone very nesty - difficult when still working! Every opportunity I get I feel like having a mini sort out or clean.

I've also started having very mild periody type feelings, it's probably nothing as I've got 4 and a bit weeks left but it's made my ears prick up for sure as that's what I felt the day before and day of my first arriving!

1990shopefulftm · 29/09/2020 09:21

@DressingGown87 I've got DH written down as my next of kin in my notes so hopefully there shouldn't be any issues there. Even if I'm conscious if i've had anything stronger than co-codamol my dyslexia will be too badly affected to be reading any consent forms coherently.

It's great that you've got your will sorted already for a guardian for your daughter, one less thing to worry about.
