t of people have recommended the Ergobaby carrier so I think that’s what I am going to go for.
I’m looking on eBay as there seem to be quite a lot of newish ones on there.

I can’t get my head around Facebook marketplace but you guys seem to have such good luck on there. Do you always have to collect? I just find eBay easier at the mo but it’s hard to find actual bargains on there.

@Buzz22 don’t worry I am really behind with buying stuff too! It is mega overwhelming. I bit the bullet with car seat but that’s about it. I just cannot be bothered to read pram reviews and don’t really know what I need!

My pattern seems to be whenever I eat the baby will kick shortly after. They had me in a panic the other day when they didnt kick after lunch - I had some sweets and about a gallon of ice cold water and they started kicking again! I'm guessing they dont like salads!

I found it really overwhelming shopping initially as being a first time mam I didnt know where to start! I made a wishlist on amazon and then searched for newborn baby essentials and then added everything that caught my eye to the wishlist. I've then went back through everything and done a bit research to find out what on the list I'll actually need and read reviews to find the best products. This helped me and I feel somewhat organized now!

@NWnature funny you say that, was just about to come on and cry to you all! I had seen a ergobaby carrier for £20 on marketplace. Said I was interested, girl got back tonight said that’s fine, send me money and I’ll drop it off tomorrow. I said I’d rather wait till I see it, she’s like fine then, forget it! Can’t believe it, so rude. Surely you don’t send money before receiving item? Do you? Gutted, was a great offer but not risking it 😔xx

@Treacle81 omgosh that sounds really rude . Especially on Facebook , you need see it before buying it ! I find I have no luck - on Facebook ever!

@FourPlasticRings ooh I need to look into a sling library, my husband wants to buy everything - randomly he feels really unprepared.

@Treacle81 huh no way! Definitely makes sense to pay when you see it , that’s what I mean I feel like it’s all a bit more rogue on there like gumtree. eBay is more expensive but I guess for a bit of protection if things go wrong! I could be naive though! There seem to be loads of the ergo baby ones so hopefully another comes up locally for you asap!

Our local scan place has started offering 4d bonding scans again now! £95 quid though! Which with this baby’s scan behaviour record seems a bit risky 😂 but I’m dying for husband to see them and I want to as well, plus it feels a bit more chill than the 20week where I was so fixated on them ticking off everything they needed I don’t think I took the time to properly look at the baby. I’ve seen a few things that anterior placenta can makes scans in general and especially 4d ones a bit crap though.

Phew! Glad you feel the same, was starting to think I was the oddball! Yeah to be honest, I’m never good with these things! Think I’ll stick to buying new and just keeping it in good condition to sell on as this will be last baby xx

Report
LexiM · 15/06/2020 22:28

@treacle81 I definitely think that wasn’t fair of the lady as you don’t know what condition it’s in until you see it. That being said I have heard lots of sellers have issues with people not paying/saying they want it then pulling out later too. I haven’t experienced any problems so far and have got some bargains. Luckily I’m in the position to collect ASAP once they say it’s free which I reckon helps.

I’ve read really good things about Ergobaby too and expect that’s the one I would go for if I had to guess. Hoping to be able to try a few out before making the purchase. I’ve heard it’s hard to try once you’ve got a proper bump though so might wait til baby is here now.

For me it’s baby bouncers that I find hard to decide on - plus they seem so expensive for what they are!

@Treacle81 sounds like it might have been a scam. Always best to see before paying.

I've had a bit of a spending spree today, just on sleepsuits and hooded towels. I was thinking about waiting until mid to late August to wash everything. My birthday is right at the end of August and I've only ever had one where it's been raining, so it should be good for drying clothes.

Nowhere near us is opening up for 4d scans yet, I hope they do soon as it's something DH is excited about booking.
We've got an appointment booked at a local independent pram/ general baby stuff store on Saturday and I'm so excited. Just have another 4 days of work to get through first... It's going to be a struggle.

Spark27 · 15/06/2020 23:06

Theres a 4d one open near me but I'm not that fussed at seeing the baby in 4d. Does that make me odd? I think I will book in for a growth and presentation scan around 32w though. There doing them near me for £69 and I would be keen later on to get the info on head size, femur size, weight, etc. I'm not due anymore NHS scans unless theres an issue so I feel that would be a good one to see baby again and get some useful info.

@Treacle81, possibly a bit of a dodgy one with the baby carrier, esp if they were going to deliver it to you. You'd have no details for them apart from a FB name if they scammed you.
The stuff I've bought off FB has been from local selling groups, so they've usually sold other things locally and you can easily get to them. Is there a local FB group in your area selling baby and children stuff. They're usually quite common in most places

Going back to Cybex car seats we got one for our 4yo as it's the only one we found where the head rest tired back ever so slightly so her head doesn't fall forwards when she falls asleep in the car! It can also be strapped in or use isofix I love it!

I know baby car seats are a bit different we're using the one we got with our travel system from DD! Xx

@bluemoon2468 welcome back! How have you been getting on?

@Buzz22 How you feeling today? Any kicks?

@NWnature I use ebay the most, since Covid I've only bought a Joie swing off marketplace and we sold some ikea cubes last week, there's been a few things I probably would have bought but I don't want to drive ha.

@Treacle81 I think the general consensus atm for local selling pages (at least where I am) is pay by bank transfer before collection. We paid our swing before (around an hour before collection) and the other person paid before collecting from ours. But both times we weren't bothered about looking at it as we'd seen lots of photos - a carrier is harder to see in photos. It was pretty rude, but she's maybe been burned in the past by travelling and then people changing their mind. Or she might be a total bitch, it's hard to tell these days hehe.

Is everyone getting a baby carrier? I hadnt really considered one. Is it better for shopping etc?

@Quiffy I've been really good thanks 😊 finally experiencing some of this second trimester energy people talk about! Can't believe how quickly it's all going now, not long to go!

For those talking about 4D scans, we've just booked ours at Window to the Womb for 28+1. On the offers section of the website they're offering the top 4D package for quite a big discount, includes a film and prints and keyrings and stuff which we'll give to grandparents. Still expensive at £90, but we had such a good experience at our private scan at 18 weeks compared to the NHS scans which have been so rushed and medical (I know that's the purpose of them!) At our 18w private scan we got about 15 really high quality digital photos and loads of time to just look at him moving and bond with him. So excited for the next one!

Morning girls! @Spark27 Good idea, I’ll try that! @Quiffy ah right, at least I know now, thanks. I woke up after sleeping relatively well and thought I’d get back to working out, didn’t last too long as started getting quite achey. @Buzz22 I think I recall you saying you work out often, any exercise vid recommendations. My ones are obvs no good for how far along I am now @bluemoon2468 good to see you back, remind me when you are due and what you are having again? I really fancied 4D esp as partner yet to experience one but he’s not bothered so we’ll prob not now, unless can persuade him nearer the time xx

@Treacle81 I'm 24+3 today (due 3rd Oct) and having a little boy 💙 4D scans are a lot of money so definitely need to have both of you on board I think! My husband and I were saying we've gone all out this time but I think it's just because it's our first baby and we're so excited... for the next one we'll probably be a lot more chilled 😆

Hi all :)

Went for my private scan today (Window to the womb). It was such a lovely experience. They confirmed girl and checked everything over for me. I also got a video to show DH and DS 💕💕
They did a sneek peak of 4d as well which is so clear.
Very exciting 😊

I'm so fed up with work. I've still not had my holiday days confirmed since last week. Really need to start having the days off as work is just stressing me out at the moment. I've just counted how many days at work I've got left (if I get to use my holiday) and it's only 55. Thank God for that!

@Treaclepie19 seen on FB, delighted for you! Not been on FB for over a year but I’ve been that bored, I’m back lol. it’s good to go on and actually put faces to names 😊 @bluemoon2468 I’m having a little boy and due date is 5th Oct. Yes, defo both have to be on board so soon see. @BntTowers I’m feeling the same, I was trained up in a new job for work, was very stressful as all had to be done online, not much in the way of help only to be told that I’m back doing something different. Complete waste of time! Also requested leave and yet to hear back. Roll on Sept!! xx

I am 23+5 with a little boy and I have put on a stone when I checked this morning.

My appetite after losing weight in the first trimester for sugar is crazy. Is a stone on par with you all so far or have I put on too much?

First time Mum so nothing to compare it to x
