@Zaalfruit I’ve got 24 and 28 week appointments.

Feeling so warm this evening, it’s not even that hot right now. I really want to eat/drink several things I don’t have right now. Would love a slushy drink! I will just keeping going on about it until my husband tells me to go away 😂😂 - was going to have McDonald’s for lunch but totally forgot (I know!) to get one until I had driven past and had a salad at home instead. Now I want chocolate!! I am just complaining sorry!!

@keepyourdistance I weighed on Saturday at exactly 24w and I've put on 9lbs total so far. My BMI is in the healthy range so apparently I'm expected to put on 2-2.5st during the pregnancy. 9lbs seems like a very small amount to me 😕

Not sure how it goes in the rest of the UK, but in England you usually get a 24/25w appt if you're a 1st time mum. Then everyone gets a 28w appt. This may be a bit messed up at the moment though. The gap between my 20w scan and 28w appt feels so long at the mo.

I have scales at home, but I dont trust them. They dont seem reliable and are difficult to see. I usually use my mums digital ones, but obvs cant at the mo. Mine are saying I've put on about 6-8lbs from pre pregnancy, but I lost a few at the beginning so who knows. I know last time I was all bump, and lost a stone within a week of giving birth (amazing). I am craving sweet stuff all the time, but because I have had DD home all the time I've not been able to indulge really, which is good but sad also.
My plan is to eat what I want (when DD let's me) and hope it's similar to last pregnancy

I haven't seen my mw since booking in appt at 5 weeks didn't get a face to face 16w one but my 28w one is on 20th July! I think she's pretty useless anyway so I'm glad I see my consultant more! Xx

It’s pretty warm where I am today, just back a walk, maybe 30 mins and all achy and feet are swollen. Think that’s the end of the nice long walks for a while! @LexiM I felt that way yest, just wanted so many different things I never had, was v frustrating. I bought fizzy laces at the shop, something I’d never normal go for, loving them 🙈 @Spark27 I need your daughter around!! xx

@Zaalfruit I had my 24 week appointment by phone - the midwife said it would have usually been in person and they'd have taken my blood pressure so I have to go to the gp or pharmacy to get my blood pressure taken.

I've had some really rubbish sleep this week, it's taken a huge toll on my mood today 😞 needing to pee throughout the night is no joke

Hi guys what are they doing at the 24 week appointment. I have an appointment next week (25 wks) for whooping cough and then another at 26 wks for GD.

I am a little worried about weight gain. I have been sick quite a bit but only once every few days and baby was measuring big on the scan. Yet the scales have gone up by 4/5 lbs! Has this happened to anyone else? Wondering if some people gain the weight during the third trimester?

Report
Treaclepie19 · 16/06/2020 18:50

I've only gained about 1lb but Im already overweight and was very off food. Aiming for no more than a stone from now.

Thanks for the congratulations :)

I have a 24 week phone call tomorrow which really I shouldn't be due because of it not being a first pregnancy but I think they're trying to keep a close eye on me.
Then another one at 28 weeks. Then hospital at 32 weeks! The appointments are getting closer and closer to due date 😁

@Winterbobble from what I've read about weight gain, it varies so much from person to person. I've gained 20 lbs, but started with a BMI of 18.5 so trying not to be too bothered over it. As long as baby is healthy, I don't mind. And luckily it all seems to be contained in bump & bum! I'm sure I've read that weight gain can jump up in third trimester as well due to water retention?

Winterbobble · 16/06/2020 19:42

@Treaclepie19 I guess it just shows how it can vary so much! Have you had your whooping cough injection or is this being planned or not required as it’s not your first preg?

@otterbaby ah yes I think it must happen at different stages for each woman. And it’s definitely not worth worrying about in pregnancy as the most important thing is that the baby gets whatever they need.
I was worried about lack of weight gain at the start because I was being sick quite frequently. But then seeing baby measuring big at 20wks made think all must be fine as she’s getting all she needs and the midwife said it can even out as the pregnancy progresses. Neither of us were big babies so it would be strange in our families. Hoping this doesn’t mean I have GD!! Confused

It’s so strange I had a 28 week appointment but it got cancelled and moved to 25 weeks face to face . And then after that I have one appointment at 32 weeks . No idea what is going on - health care is so bad at the moment - the endocrine department still haven’t seen me - I am Hoping my baby is fine and has no health issues . :/ it’s so u fair it’s my fault if she does because I have an under active thyroid and it can create issues for baby . Told my mum and her response was you worry so much - look at third world countries they don’t even have a scan or anyone helping them and they all have healthy babies and then said what will be will be you have done your best and you will adapt . I just want to give her the best chance that’s all .

To conclude I’m going to have a Dr Pepper today to cheer myself up.

Treaclepie19 · 16/06/2020 20:29

@Winterbobble yeah I've already had it when I went for my first 20 week scan.

@Zaalfruit you're not unreasonable in how you're feeling. Just because other people have it worse it doesn't mean you can't be upset about it. Enjoy your Dr Pepper. I may have a coke! 😍

@Zaalfruit everyone is entitled to feel how they feel. Doesn’t make you feel any better to hear that does it, it’s all relevant to your life! Enjoy the Dr Pepper, I love that really cold on a warm day.

Sorry I am waffling on about wanting all the treats, I got some from the shop, had a bite of chocolate and then decided it was enough - I’m ridiculous! I was down on my starting pre-pregnancy weight until the other week. Now I’ve decided to relax on weighing myself and just go with how I feel and eat a balanced diet. Aka Salad for lunch and melted Brie and chocolate for dinner 😂 I think I could get obsessive if I weigh too frequently and actually it’s normal to gain weight because there’s the baby and all the fluid etc. It is hard not to think about after baby is here but I’m hoping feeding and lots of walks will help.

@Zaalfruit ahh it’s natural to worry, especially when healthcare is in such flux atm.

We had pizza takeout today. Took away the rainy day blues! Smile

@Zaalfruit I have a 25 week appointment next week , a 28 week at the hospital for anti D and I'm going back on injectables and have a scan booked in for 32 weeks.
I also have consultant apps, but it's mostly cause we're an ivf baby, my age (36)and my weight (bmi 29) so all those factors combined I'm at slightly higher risk. Oh and my Maternal grandmother died due to pre eclampsia unfortunately.
Despite all that though, baby is doing well 😊 God bless science!

I am having a nightmare, I have been bitten about 6 times, 5 on my arm and one on my little toe. No idea what but I tend to react badly to bites and normally layer on the antihistamine cream and take tablets, but obviously aren't at the moment. Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with them?

Report
Zaalfruit · 16/06/2020 21:58

Thanks everyone sorry was ranting .

I’m hoping they rearrange for a 28 week appointment.

@BntTowers I normally rub tea tree oil on me after bites . If I get a bite they go huge an swollen and the itch but I find Eurax cream and tea tree oil helps.

@CharlieBalf love hearing success ivf stories , I’m happy you are being cared for .

@Zaalfruit hanks I'll try the tea tree oil. Hope you enjoyed your fish and chips. I think I'll have to join you with the fizzy drink tomorrow, although it does mean a wander to the shops for me.

@Zaalfruit I'm booked in for a 28 week appointment but nothing between now and then - not even a phone appointment. I haven't seen a midwife since my 10 week check (had a 16 week phone call though). I am a first time mum so was initially expecting more but obviously things are all over the place at the moment!

Report
FourPlasticRings · 17/06/2020 09:42

@BecLJ It's really weird how different practices interpret the guidelines. I am a second time mum and had a face to face appointment at 16 weeks and have another one at 25 weeks. Low risk too, so it's a bit bizarre- no idea why I've even got a 25 week one second time around.
