@Zaalfruit how rude of your Aunt, even if you think it why would you ever say it and even more to a hormonal pregnant lady. I’m lucky my Mum is so lovely about my appearance and makes me feel really confident that I look fine.

@Quiffy I’ve washed the odd second hand thing already but all the new stuff I’m going to do around August when hopefully it’s still sunny, although you never know in the UK! September and October can be so lovely or really miserable and don’t want to have to wash and dry all indoors. I have also cheekily suggested to My Mum that she might like to do the washing haha... keen Granny will do it!

Private scan prices are ridiculous especially for the amount of time you’re in there - you are right as demand is so high they can really rip you off. Their business must be doing really well right now. That being said I think especially for fathers that haven’t seen baby it is worth it.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 15/06/2020 10:22

Everyone's got my worried now about if I wasn't being a good mum by just using normal washing powder, I've attached what I read on nhs website, I had to check again because wasn't sure I'd definitely read it!! I think if baby has a reaction I'll obv change to more gentle and non bio but I'll stick with our stuff in the beginning. My mum did say to me it needs to be non bio though also! But I'll just go with nhs!! Neither DP or I have ever had sensitive skin so hopefully should be ok. Also I read modern washing machines are so good at the rinse function it doesn't matter in that sense either because they're so good at getting the detergent out of the clothes x

@Treacle81 sorry I didn’t see your post - i notice emotionally I’m ok until I get stressed or upset, then I cry waaay more than I usually would. Like can’t stop crying!

Facebook Marketplace does get addictive, I’m collecting some cheeky wipe boxes and bags today. I Refused to buy the whole kit originally as it was quite expensive so just got the wipes and a multi wet/dry bag for when out. The wet/dry boxes and washing bags for in the house have come up on marketplace for £4 today so I’m off to collect them soon. Furlough is not good for me, I need to find something else to do with my day 😂😂

Happy 24 weeks guys, must feel so great! I’ve got another 9 days to go 😄

Spark27 · 15/06/2020 10:34

Morning ladies. I was awake from 0300-0630, and was pretty pissed off about it. Then at 0630 I was knackered again. Fortunately DH got up with DD at 0700 and let me sleep til 1000. Amazing.

Just to reiterate it's the carry cot element they do grow out of quickly (in the first 6 months), but you can buy/or not these bits separately if you want. It might be handy to have if you're planning on visiting other people a lot as you can use it as another sort of moses basket for babies to sleep in at others. I know someone who used hers downstairs on a moses basket stand during the day when at home

Just going to catch up on all the messages xx

Quiffy · 15/06/2020 10:39

@LexiM definitely going to be worth it for DH, when they put the prices up to £80 he said it was okay, he didn't need to. I've booked it anyway but he says he's not going to get excited as they cancelled the last 😭 I think August is a good shout for clothes!

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy if nhs says fine it will be, I've not bought non bio so might just stick with my normal. After all, with all the cat hair around he's going to need tough skin anyway!

@Treacle81 happy 24 weeks! Loving your bargains, marketplace is so good

Spark27 · 15/06/2020 10:47

I'll probably do all the babies washing in August too. Hopefully it will be nice enough to have it drying outside. Ours has all been in the garage for 2yrs. I'm just going to use the same washing powder we always use, same as I have for DD. If the baby has any kind of reaction I'll change it.

I've been using the Kicks Counts app for the last week. It's good as it monitors kicking sessions rather than individual kicks. I think in individual kicks would get very time consuming and more worrying as you could fixate on numbers. I find this one has definitely got busier or noticeably busier in the last few days.

One thing I am definitely going to do, which I found really helpful last time, is bulk cook and fill the freezer. Pasta sauces, chilli, spag bol, enchilada filling, casseroles, scones, and side dishes like potato gratin, ratatouille etc. And fill it with pies, pizzas, stuffed pasta, garlic bread, etc. All portioned up ready to just be taken out. I think we living on that for the 1st month last time. Saves continual takeaways. I think that will be another job for August and Sep when DD is at nursery xx

Winterbobble · 15/06/2020 10:59

@Quiffy I am thinking August/early sept too for clothes. I haven’t bought much yet but fingers crossed the weather should still be okay then for drying. And congrats on 24 week milestone, tomorrow for me! Smile the next one for me after then is 28 weeks!

@Zaalfruit thank you I guess it’s a good once over to check all okay. I will defo keep an eye on reduced movements and call up the midwife I have any concerns.

Have your symptoms died down now? I am still being sick approx. once a week but it has died down massively from every 2/3 days so counting myself lucky! And heartburn and constipation are my new joys!! Gosh how long do we have to go still Smile the blooming stage of pregnancy certainly seems to have passed me by!

Zaalfruit · 15/06/2020 11:38

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I use non bio cos bio makes my skin itch and then I get a rash , when I was little I got contact dermatitis it was so bad and I got it on my neck - now only flares up occasionally I’m hoping my baby doesn’t have what I have . My dh didn’t even know the difference till we started living together so I asked my midwife and she said deffo use non bio if you can. However I think it’s fine for most people so don’t worry I just went by what my midwife said .

Zaalfruit · 15/06/2020 11:43

I think another online baby show is happening . I am not sure how to share the link.

Indigogirl88 · 15/06/2020 11:49

@winterbobble yep all good here, was pretty rough first trimester but feeling good now, apart from dead arms, which you'll all see me complaining about loads, today I couldn't even lift the kettle Sad first hopefully face to face midwife app Thursday. I went for the ickle bubba globe stroller as it lies flat and went for the cudl harness its its brilliant!

Indigogirl88 · 15/06/2020 11:55

Forgot to add my baby girl is getting a form of pattern now, mainly afternoon and evenings, also been really low. Having just said that got a massive jab up high which I saw on the outside, Finally!!!

I only washed my clothes as I got some second hand so thought might as well, I might wash them again in August depending how I feel

FourPlasticRings · 15/06/2020 12:28

I'm not washing them yet. Washed before I put them into storage, going to wash again and stick them in drawers from about 30-32 weeks I think. I like to save up the nice tasks like that for when I'm a bit further along as a mood-booster (I got progressively more miserable last time the further along I got!) but not so far along that I can't be bothered to actually do anything and it feels like too much work!

Bio wash peeps bare in mind that not all reactions cause an actual rash or visible sign (and some soap is left behind even by stringent rinse cycles- hence why people who are sensitive to it have to be careful. If no soap was left behind, it wouldn't be an issue for anyone which detergent they used). Go with it, by all means, and it'll probably be fine, but if you find you've got a miserable baby with no visible cause, consider trying the non-bio (and also swapping nappy brands and nappy cream/wipes).

FourPlasticRings · 15/06/2020 12:47

Saw this and thought of you all.

Winterbobble · 15/06/2020 13:23

@Spark27 ah thanks I will have a look at the kick counts app. I defo think you can end up fixating on numbers so sounds good to focus on sessions. Baby seems to be very active in the mornings and evenings and after food.

@Indigogirl88 ah is the dead arm from sleeping on them at night or just a strange pregnancy symptom?

And ah I bet that was crazy seeing something on the outside. DH keeps looking for a foot and I always roll my eyes thinking does this really happen! I guess we will all find out soon enough Grin

otterbaby · 15/06/2020 13:40

Good idea to wait until August to wash everything...today I'm washing and ironing the 3-6 & 6-9 month bits we got from a friend just so I can pack them away until next year. I can't handle seeing all the baby bits on the clothesline, my heart is melting!

Indigogirl88 · 15/06/2020 14:39

@winterbobble I think the dead arm is from carpal tunnel or excessive fluid....I'm laying on the left side and its effecting the right arm booo

Yeah I couldnt handle the cutness of the baby clothes on the line eeeek I know its sad washing early but hey ho might do them again just for fun 😂

bluemoon2468 · 15/06/2020 15:41

Rejoining the thread 😊 Can't believe I joined the first thread when I was less than 4 weeks pregnant and now I'm 24 weeks! Hope everyone's pregnancies are going well. Feel so relieved to be past the viability threshold even though of course I'm hoping to be pregnant an awful lot longer!

MrsD1990 · 15/06/2020 16:12

I remember you @bluemoon2468! Lovely to see you back 😁

I think I'll wash baby's clothes as I get them (got some arriving today). Feeling very blah because of lockdown so could use a pick me up!

Buzz22 · 15/06/2020 18:48

Feeling terribly unorganised compared to you girls! We have nothing for baby yet! Feel very overwhelmed even looking at prams and cots right now. Think I'm having a hormonal week.

Was feeling baby move regularly every evening bit didnt feel anything last night. Had an iced drink and some sweets but nothing?
Not sure how concerned I should be at 23 weeks as I know they say dont count kicks till 28. Slightly anxious given our history though. Dont want to be a total time waster on the phone all the time worrying about nothing.

Treaclepie19 · 15/06/2020 19:02

@Buzz22 if you're concerned then ring them. They told me that although they don't say to watch for a pattern until 24 weeks plus, they say if you're feeling something is wrong always call because they can either put your mind at rest or see you. You won't be a time waster.
I went in at 21 weeks! Its to be expected with the extra worries we have too.

Spark27 · 15/06/2020 19:22

@Buzz22 if you're concern please give them a call. It's what they're there for. I hope you get some reassurance soon xx

Zaalfruit · 15/06/2020 19:43

@Buzz22 call them please I did and they told me to go in. they told me any fears - just call they are hear for us.

Whats a good baby carrier to purchase ? So much choice :(

Zaalfruit · 15/06/2020 19:43

here*

Winterbobble · 15/06/2020 19:44

@Buzz22 ah I felt like this this morning. I would def get in touch with the midwife. It’s a nerve wracking time especially if you have a history of issues.

Hope everything is okay - it helped me to lay down with no distractions as it focuses any movements, changing positions too can wake baby up if a cold drink etc isn’t working.

FourPlasticRings · 15/06/2020 20:34

@Zaalfruit

There are so many baby carriers! I presume you are referring to the wearable ones? If so, ultimately, your best bet is probably to visit a sling library when baby is here and try them out to see what works for you and bubs- it's very difficult to do online. We bought one before DD was born and I couldn't actually get on with it so never used it. Ended up getting an ex-demo one from a sling library sale that DD was very happy in. That said, my local sling library does online loans, where you can look through what they've got and they post what you select for you to try. Inexpensive and a good way of doing it. Maybe look into it? Sling libraries are often found on Facebook and do a roaring trade in second hand stuff.
