@Prettylittlelady welcome, my due date is also 14th October. Welcome to you too @Winterbobble 😄

Funny how a few of you have said about using the pram less because it will be winter and therefore not bothering. It had never occurred to me that I would use it that much less. Obviously not so much every day for going outside and having picnics etc. but I thought in my head as long it’s not pouring it down I will still try and get outside for walks and go out to other places inside (depending on restrictions then). I’ve nebr been one to stay inside though. Guess everyone is different. I know some prefer slings and I am going to look into that too, being really indecisive on the sling choice as I feel is different depending on the person and I have no clue!

Had quite a down day today but feeling much better this evening, been sitting on my ball and it’s so comfy. Takes up a lot more space than I had imagined! 😂

@Prettylittlelady and @Winterbobble welcome to the club!!! It’s my first baby too - ( girl)

@Quiffy omgoodness I need to get these cubes looks so great. We are short on space so this is a great way of organising it all.

I made a start on shopping today - got the prep machine , some filters and a baby thermometer the John Lewis sale is really good - I wanted to buy my buggy from there but it’s out of stock :(

Also I just ordered my pillow , my hip pain and back pain is so rude - why is my body like this 🤣😂.

My aunt saw me today and said you look so fat and your husband looks so skinny . It was so awkward . I didn’t know to laugh or cry . Who says things that to pregnant woman ?

@LexiM I wasn’t going to get a pram at first - I was just going to go for the baby carrier harness - but I have such little strength the idea of carrying and my arms will be trapped made me rethink it - I need to get out of the house and go on walks or I will go crazy cooped up.

Welcome ladies :)

I'll definitely be using the pram a lot. Getting out for a daily walk was important for me with ds1 and he was born september so similar timeline.

I am so sore this morning. I feel exhausted. Not sure how bad I'll be feeling by the time baby is here since there's over 16 weeks left 😂

@LexiM I always thought I would get a pram too but then lots of people have been saying it’s not required in winter? I would hate to feel trapped inside the house but at the same time don’t want the pram to not be used. I have considered a sling as an alternative but I am scared how long recovery may take after birth.

@Zaalfruit ah yay congratulations 💕 and haha I think manners go out the window when it comes to family ha ha!

@Treaclepie19 I am so gutted we can’t get to the shops to try out prams in the flesh. There are just so many options it blows my mind!

@Indigogirl88 ahh bump twins. How have you found pregnancy so far?

I have had an active baby most days but yesterday and this morning she’s a little quieter. I am going to see what happens after breakfast. I know it’s too early for a pattern but are you guys now feeling kicks quite regularly?

@Spark27 the lack of sleep is getting to me too , it’s making me cranky .

@Winterbobble in terms of kicks - I have no idea of when they are coming And how frequent they are last. Last night felt like a party Was going on inside me and now I am not feeling any kicks . It’s so hard not to panic but if you feel that it’s tooo quiet please call the fetal unit for advice X ( the other day the movements were non existent and everyone here told me to call fetal unit - I ended up going hospital and theY did checks on me )

@Winterbobble since the pram can be used for such a long time it wouldn't be wasted 😊

I've got a bit of a pattern sussed with my little one. She's very quiet in the mornings but has a kick around lunch time and the afternoon if I'm sitting. Then goes wild in the evenings.

I think the pram is more useful in the winter, if anything! You can get out and about while they are all snuggled in. DD was a summer born and I hardly ever used the pram because it was too hot, even with air vents open etc. Mostly used the air conditioned car or sat inside under the fan for the first few months! Doesn't matter really though- we've been using ours for 2 years now and will be using it for baby 2, so I wouldn't say the lack of a few months of use is problematic.

Welcome to the new mums!

Re prams, the one we're looking at works up to 6 months so that takes us to April. I'm in the Northeast and our weather isn't great but I'm definitely planning on getting out loads with her, especially in springtime. I think I'd go crazy otherwise. We have a sling as well which I'm hoping to use but we'll see which she prefers!

I have a rough pattern as well - morning, late afternoon and then nighttime. But sometimes she is much more quiet than other days, which I assume is her just facing the other way or something. From what I understand, they say they only have a pattern from 28 weeks but it's a load of bollocks. I went in at 22 weeks and they were more than happy to check in on her.

In other news, our local scan clinic has reopened for 4d scans! I've cancelled the private scan we had for next week and have rebooked for the week after when I'll be 26 weeks so we have a better chance of seeing her fully 🥰

@Zaalfruit ah what checks did you have done? I have felt a couple of kicks this morning, but she’s normally quite active so I’m going to keep monitoring today.

@treaclepie19 it’s not the pram system as a whole but more the lie flat/carry cot element which babies grow out of after the newborn stage. But i suppose it can be used to keep baby in on visits etc? Or can you buy prams without the carry cot? I am so clueless about everything still!! I need to research Grin

Report
Winterbobble · 15/06/2020 08:41

@FourPlasticRings that’s a good compromise having both. Right I think I am reassured that a pram is a good idea even with a carry cot insert as think would prefer to have option of taking baby out in that rather than always relying on a sling/carrier.

@otterbaby oh wow my friend had a 4d scan and although the pic is obv in utero the babies features were so clear to see and the side by side pic after birth looked incredible.

I think sometimes i worry about causing a fuss with movements if everything is ok when hospitals are so busy already. From a selfish point of view I guess I see attending hospital as another way of increasing contact with others that I would rather avoid but this is just covid anxiety and I would never forgive myself if there was something wrong.

Report
FourPlasticRings · 15/06/2020 08:43

@winterbobble they ought to (technically) remain in the lie flat carrycot until six months (though mine was in the seat by four last time because she hated the carrycot with a passion). We chose a pram with a carrycot element that is certified as safe for overnight sleeping so it could be used if stopping over anywhere and for naps. They can be pretty useful. You can buy prams without carrycots for a lot cheaper and some even have a lie flat function, but they do tend to be forward facing only which isn't great.

@Treacle81 I've just washed everything as I've bought it in our normal stuff minus the scent booster. I checked on nhs and they've said it doesn't matter anymore whether bio or non bio. Hopefully it will be ok.

@Winterbobble welcome to the group!

And re the pram talk I'm very excited about winter walks with the pram. I'll be going hopefully daily for a little walk. We also have baby's grandparents in newcastle area by the coast and in Glasgow and they're pretty cold there in winter so a nice pram in winter all cosy will be exactly what we need for nice walks etc. I can't wait!! Xx

Treaclepie19 · 15/06/2020 08:51

@Winterbobble yeah you may not want a carrycot if that's the case.
Our last pram was lie flat and suitable from birth without the carrycot so might be a good option for you. We did use the carrycot though 🙈

@Treacle81

I always use non bio because I'm allergic to bio. Doesn't cause a rash but makes me itch like you wouldn't believe. Mum always used bio and I was apparently an utterly miserable baby who screamed constantly and drove Mum to distraction. Since realising I'm sensitive to the bio, I've always wondered if I was just really uncomfortable because of the washing powder!

LexiM · 15/06/2020 09:12

@Winterbobble I can see your point about the travel system being no use if you don’t think you’re going to use the lie flat carrycot. Hadn’t thought of that as ours is going to be used downstairs during the day and for any overnight stays too! It is hard to decide isn’t it, there’s so many options!

I’ve had patterns in my movement for a week or two as well, but I know everyone is different. He’s usually mildly active first thing and afternoon if I’m sat still then mainly loads at night especially when I go to bed. He was having a party in there last night!

Thanks all, just need to research which pram to get now!

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy ahh it sounds so magical when you describe it like that, baby all cosy in a lovely pram while we go out on a winter walk 💕

Well baby has livened up after breakfast so all good, phew! This FTM anxiety is killing me Blush

When is everyone washing clothes? Ive set most things up but I wasn't sure if June to October was a bit long. But I also want to make the most of the nice weather to get them drying outside 😅 I also didn't realise we should use non bio so thank you!

@Winterbobble welcome and congrats! I can start to see a pattern with kicks but it all depends where he is, if he's turned around it's not as hard. I would call if worried though, all the midwives I've seen have said do it, they want you to come in over nothing rather than sat at home worrying.

Re: prams, even though the weather will be awful I really want to get out and walking I think. I'm feeling massive so would really like to get the pounds off when he gets here. Not sure how I'll feel in the wind and rain though... I'm hoping for a frosty winter

@Zaalfruit well that is just beyond rude! People 😡

@otterbaby woo on scan! I've got one booked in for 10th July, was a bit miffed they put they're prices up the day before though by £20 because of demand.

24 weeks today! Happy viability day to the other 24 weekers. It's getting closer 🙀

Report
Zaalfruit · 15/06/2020 09:38

@Winterbobble they check baby’s heart beat to see if it’s normal level - they can feel the baby position and they check urine , blood pressure and temperature. In my case baby moved to an awkward space in me and it might be because of how I sit and sleep .

@Quiffy I told my mum and mother in law they need to do all the washing for the baby 🤣😂

On a serious note I was thinking August - just I feel if it’s too early that fabric softener smells go and deffo go for non bio.

Report

I'm thinking August too. I might just wash a few bits that are going in the hospital bag earlier in case of a surprise early baby.

Morning girls and welcome newbies 💁‍♀️ Fellow 24weeker 🥳 feels good! My little man seems to be very active in morning and as soon as I get comfy at night, hardly anything during the day. I will also be out and about in all weathers as hate the feeling when of being cooped up! Got rain cover, winter cover and storm cover so all elements over winter covered! I was just thinking that @Quiffy don’t want to be washing too soon yet need to take advantage of this current climate. @LexiM glad you are feeling better, I defo seem to have down periods, it’s just the coronacoaster! I’m gonna try hard to get back into my fitness routine this week, slacked the last few weeks. I went on FB marketplace after hearing all your comments and I’ve bought a Ergobaby carrier with newborn insert for £25 and a baby bundle (3-9 months stuff) for £50, lots of good quality items (I hope)!! I spent a fortune on up to 3 mths so hopefully this will work out well. Like everyone says, clothes can all be washed. @FourPlasticRings that’s such a shame to think all along it could have been the detergent, wee soul @Indigogirl88 I have mw on Friday, can’t wait to actual have tests to see everything ok is I’m as white as a sheet and just like to be sure! xx
