@Zaalfruit I'm packing an entire bag dedicated to snacks 😂 I don't cope well when I'm hungry so I'd rather be over prepared!

@MummyBearBoo hope everything goes well with your operation today!

I'm thinking about batch cooking and hospital bags as well here.

For me
2 nighties
2 bras
Robe
Flip flops
Tonnes of knickers, black and disposable, pads
Breast pads
Comfy going home outfit
Mini toiletries incl something for my hair as its frizzy and sweat and frizz is not a nice combo 😂
I'm skipping make up but will put in mascara and lip balm
Nipple cream

@Indigogirl88 omg you reminded me something for my hair - my hair is curly and frizzy . Since lock down I have stopped straigners and dh was not aware how crazy my hair is .

@MummyBearBoo good luck - not sure where the rest of my message to you went sorry!

@otterbaby yes someone else like me - it’s all about the snacks . My friend told me to have an ice pack ready in the fridge and if I take mini cans they will stay cool 😎. When I went hospital the other day this woman had a huge suitcase - that I would only consider for long holidays.

My plan is a holding bany - my Ryan air flight bag for myself and then for baby maybe a small cabin luggage -I don’t like the idea of too much going in the hospital - plan is to wear sliders or flip flops to the hospital . Any excess stuff I might just place in the boot - so that dh has access to and doesn’t need to touch my wardrobe and chest of drawers - he is know to open a drawer and walk away . I personally don’t understand how you can’t close a door or drawer without walking away.

@Zaalfruit yep, alongside dropping your dirty clothes on the floor right next to the open laundry hamper 🙄
Great idea on just in case stuff going in the boot

Lol @Zaalfruit you sound just like me - I really want baby to come 37-39 weeks!! I've told husband that I'm up for an induction if it goes over 40 weeks. I'll probably change my mind later!

On snack, the advice I've been given is to take lots!! I'm all set on having loads of pringles and sending husband to get me McDonalds afterwards 😂

Holding bag*

@MrsD1990 omg yes pringles are a good one !! You can close the lids- I’m thinking lots of cereal bars I love the unhealthy ones.
My hospital has a Sainsbury’s right next to it - so will be asking dh for bakery goods and other bits if he is allowed in. I’m hoping he is.

@BettyBotter1 if I showed you the bathroom he just drops it and ignores it. The worst is when I’m Not looking and I walk on a wet towel - he walks out dripping from the shower even thou I encourage to use the towel robe - or even cover with a towel till you are dry but nooo he wants to Air dry 🤪

Thanks ladies it went well and I can already see better!!

Bit paranoid now though 4 separate people commented on how big my bump was one lady asked if i usually carried big!

Then I'm in theatre and two women behind me are talking and they were both commenting on how tiny I was compared to the size of my bump 'as people usually fill out everywhere' - i thought the tiny bit was quite complimentary until they added the bump bit! I felt like saying 'he's sorting my eye not my ears I can hear you' but I resisted!

I was laid flat on my back in hospital gowns and a blanket over me so I don't not think I can have looked that big!

I know my bump is bigger this time around but I wasn't paranoid about how big til today!! I think it's quite rude as they weren't talking to me and it was pretty off putting!

I can't wear make up for 2 weeks and have a clear plastic cup over my eye so I don't rub it!! Xxx

Hi all!

Thank you for the new thread!

Although I'm relatively new to your chats and don't comment/write often... it is so good finding 'companions' with similar issues and thoughts and worries!

Apologies in advance for the super long message...

I'm 26wks now (27 based on size) and I'm considering changing my hospital for birth. My local hospital has improved in the recent years (according to reviews that I've read on line). There were horrific stories up until 10 years ago, with newborns dying, mainly because they didn't recognize early enough stress signs or due to lack of stuff. I tried to research it to see if there are still issues and I've found out that still, probably due to the growing council and luck of resources, there are days were the care is bad. Of course there are other mums that vouch for a great care and experience... so it does vary.

Due to my age, BMI and this being an IVF pregnancy they won't let me pass term, so there is a high chance that I will be induced.

So, I'm considering changing to another hospital 40mts away with better reviews.

Am I crazy? And if I proceed with this how do I go about it? I have my appointment with my midwife next Monday. Do I need to tell her then? Is it already too late now to change hospitals?

I'm very unsure and quite stressed about this to be honest. Have any of you any experience with this? What would you advise me?

@Pineapplemummy2020, I dont have any experience of this I'm afraid. But if you're worried about it and want to change I'd definitely look into it. It's up to you where you labour (obvs provided they have space and you get there in time), and if you're worried or stressed about the other place that's not good. Being stressed about something can make your labour longer/more difficult. I'd speak to your MW at your next appointment. I'm not sure if a labour gets 'booked in' to a location, but it's probably good for them to have an idea of what your plan is. Guessing they will also need to give you different telephone numbers for that labour ward.
Just so you know, we've got a new early Oct thread that was opened today so a lot of people have moved to that as this will be full soon. If you want to jump over to that one and ask the same question you might get answers from people with more experience than me xx

Hi ladies I am sorry I haven't been on to update you are and hope you are doing well. Baby wriggles is still wriggling I am currently 27 weeks and 5 days I have a scan tomorrow to check the fluid levels which did not change last week, as far as I am aware she is still growing and her organs are developing normally. I am huge and uncomfortable but as long as she's okay I will get through it. I haven't read your previous posts so don't know what has been going on.. But I do hope your all safe and well xx
