@MummyBearBoo what do they feel like?

Treaclepie19 · 15/07/2020 22:17

Hi all!
Drained tonight. Had to go get checked for reduced movements earlier and it's worn me out.

Im going to ask the midwife about expressing colostrum. I'm sure I read its not necessary unless there's a reason to.

I get lots of braxton hicks too. Very uncomfortable.

Off to read back properly ❤

@Treaclepie19 -they do like to worry st don't they!!

@Treacle81 - I didn't heal last time and my colostrum cane in as soon as baby cane out and started feeding so they don't always have to leak!

@blankiesandunicorns -they're like weak contractions but if you've never had contraction before they're like cramps but not as low down and it hurts in your back as well as the front it feels like a tightening sensation!!

My boobs were sore the first 2 weeks I bf DD she fed every 2 hours for an hour.
I remember one day when neither boob had recovered I expressed and bottle fed her (expressing with the electric breast pump didn't make them sore) that was at about 2 weeks but she had no problem going back on boob after!!

It didn't hurt after that initial 2 weeks! We had a really good latch it's just coz I fed her on demand and she fed so frequently! Xx

Spark27 · 16/07/2020 04:25

3am pregnancy insomnia club, yay! Couldn't get back to sleep and hungry, so now sat on the sofa eating biscuits. At least it's a nursery day tomorrow

MummyBearBoo · 16/07/2020 06:23

Oh dear @Spark27 -hope you got some sleep!
I managed to get to sleep about 2am ish after she settles down only to be woken up by legs coming out of my side this morning! It wasn't even really kicks just stretching her legs out accompanied by kicks after!! It feels like I have a wave machine in my stomach with all her wriggling even the DD is still asleep so if she's not waking me up it's the baby!! 4 hours sleep and my eyes are stinging!! Xxx

Treaclepie19 · 16/07/2020 07:18

Oh no @Spark27 😔
I'm knackered too. Could really do with DS being in nursery a bit. No chance of that now until he starts reception September 😴

@Treaclepie19 hope everything alright !!

We went out this morning for my bday at 5am and got MaccDy breakfast and a costa hot chocolate felt so good x ( start work at 9am bleugh)

@MummyBearBoo And @Spark27 hope you both got some sleep. I don’t get enough sleep so spend the Whole day of work Sleepy 😑

Indigogirl88 · 16/07/2020 08:37

@Zaalfruit happy birthday!
I should have joined the 3am club I think it was around 4 when we finally got to sleep, we had a reasonably productive night though discussing night feeds and what we want to do. I explained that if I can bf I can't pump for a few weeks and so ill have no choice but to be up in the night till we get a routine etc

Been swooning on pinterest at peoples perfect nursery's and realising ours won't be like that as it has to be an office for the foreseeable. Got a heath care visit in a few weeks and worried she will judge us for not having a set nursery ready Confused

Treacle81 · 16/07/2020 09:15

Morning girls! Happy birthday, hope you have a great day! @Zaalfruit! Do you think baby moving too much can indicate problems. No word of a lie I've had maybe 3 hours sleep due to constant moving. The kicking has changed to what feels like rolling and pushing at either side I lie on. Actually feels like I'm squashing him! I have appointment today so will hopeful u find out his position. Even now he is constantly moving! Just feels very weird xx

Treacle81 · 16/07/2020 09:18

@Indigogirl88 is that a common procedure to happen in your area? Everything will be fine please don't worry about that. @Spark27 hopefully you get to fit more sleep in when your daughter is at nursery xx

Quiffy · 16/07/2020 09:42

@LexiM Not me, no. We didnt do a gender reveal or anything but if anyone had asked we've told them boy. I'm hoping people keep opinions to themselves after. It's all very well not liking a name, another to say it. Although a family member just told a family friend's cat name choice was awful on Facebook last weekend, which was beyond rude yikes.

The in laws were listing all that side's middle names and who they referred to in the family last week. I dont want to continue this as I dont think it's fair to choose one side of the family and not the other. Plus, they chose all bible names and that's just not my jam. Our chosen middle name is far from anything like that.

@Treacle81 Not long to count down now! That's super exciting. Think I've seen a few people ask midwife about increased and theyve said it's fine but give them a ring if worried.

@Spark27 hope you get a nap in today!

@Treaclepie19 Hope you're feeling a bit better today

Treacle81 · 16/07/2020 11:15

@Quiffy ohh bet you are counting down days!! Just back and found out reason that only feeling side movement is due to anterior placenta. First I've heard 😑 at least I know now. Heartbeat and measuring normal for 28 weeks so all good xx

Treacle81 · 16/07/2020 11:17

Oh meant to add that she said that I should actually be shielding now so goodness knows why some are expected to return to work at this stage 🤔xx

booroo · 16/07/2020 11:26

Funny it must be different in every area @Treacle81 as at my 28week app I asked about shielding etc and the midwife told me it was fine to carry on as normal and just to maintain social distancing...we do have a very low infection/death rate here so maybe that why it's more relaxed :)

Alana1984 · 16/07/2020 12:52

Oh wow, I'm new to forums and man this thread moves fast! So good to read about your experiences, I feel almost normal! Grin. ... And thank you for all the welcomes!

Apologies for not tagging people in this one, I'll get better as I get used to this but @Zaalfruit happy birthday!

To those wanting to call in sick, I'm so sorry I'm about to be a really bad influence... We had a power surge Tuesday night, loads of stuff is still broken (I think 200+ houses were affected) including the boiler, so I'm taking this opportunity to pretend the WiFi is down for the day. I've dialled into meetings on the phone but not being on email or Skype is like a holiday!

On breast feeding, I've only got one breast and that's been reduced as part of breast cancer treatment (the other is a fake) but if I can (fingers crossed) I'd love to breastfeed but we're stocking up on bottles and Formula too - I was just about to get a tommee tippee set but whoever suggested just getting a few, that's a great shout, I've got a couple from a friend, I might wait and see before I get more.

28 week appointment yesterday, all good, head down 😊.

Plenty of heartburn, almond milk works for me (it's not tasty but it works) and I got a teeny sleep pillow that helps me stay on my side - I tried the big u shaped one but didn't get on with it at all.

Thanks for having me here, it's so nice to talk to other pregnant people - almost all bump social groups are cancelled locally and our antenatal class doesn't start for weeks yet so I'm feeling a bit like, er, what should I be doing now? 😂

Buzz22 · 16/07/2020 13:37

Happy birthday @Zaalfruit! Breakfast sounds amazing!

What pram did everyone go for? And why? We are about to order and it's such a pricey purchase now I'm starting to doubt our decision!

otterbaby · 16/07/2020 13:50

@Zaalfruit happy birthday 💕

@Treacle81 ah strange, I was only told to continue social distancing as well! Specifically asked about shielding as I've booked a massage/pedicure and the midwife just said to wear a mask, that it's no different than me sitting in a room with her for my appointment.

@Alana1984 I know, it's really reassuring to have other pregnant women to chat with and know that we're all just as confused as each other 😂

@Buzz22 we bought the Bugaboo Bee with the cocoon insert. It was a bit pricey at £600 (considering it didn't come with the car seat either) but we really liked how compact it was. Also liked that we can keep it parent facing for a while, I wasn't keen on some of them where you HAVE to go world facing after 6 months. And I suppose it came down to the good reviews after that. To be honest, I found the whole thing a bit of a 'shot in the dark' because it's hard to know what aspects you'll find most valuable if you haven't had a baby before!

Spark27 · 16/07/2020 14:05

Happy birthday @zaalfruit.

I've not been told to shield either. Just keep up with social distancing.

We went for the Joie Chrome DLX (this was 3 years ago). Like that it can be forward facing, came with an I-size carseat (this was when they were just coming out), and I could easily fold it and lift it into the boot. Nice size basket, and wanted a carry cot to use as a 'moses basket' if visiting people. And wasnt expensive. Kind of wish I'd got a 2nd hand travel system as there are so many on sale locally, excellent condition, and cheap. But 1st time around I wanted the excitement of buying a new one. When DD got bigger we moved to a silver cross pop stroller. They're great as they go up to 25kg, whereas some other makes only go to 15kg. She ended up in it the other week when her little legs got tired at the zoo.

Constantly feeling like I need a wee at the moment. Not a UTI or anything, just think baby is squashing my bladder. It's really annoying

Alana1984 · 16/07/2020 14:13

@buzz22 we've just bought a 2nd hand bugaboo chameleon 3, couldn't bring ourselves to buy new (but we'll get the compatible car seat new).

A friend told me it's better for rough terrain and we like a bit of a stroll along the canal or through the woods.

MummyBearBoo · 16/07/2020 14:16

FYI JoJo Maman Bebe have a sale on my mum has just had a nice long lacy maternity top and a maternity & nursing dress with flaps that you can't see for discreet feeding sent to me! She only ordered them yesterday and they came today!! Xxx

Alana1984 · 16/07/2020 14:19

I've seen a few post about lockdown, feels like there's no clear guidance on whether we should be shielding or socially distant?

I'm just making up my own rules really, I've decided to meet groups of one or two socially distanced outside but I'm avoiding bigger groups, restaurants, hair salons etc (I def need a haircut!) and only physically shopping for food/necessities. Seems like a good middle ground but I do feel like I'm missing out on a few things...

BntTowers · 16/07/2020 14:21

@Quiffy jealous of all this time off. Sounds ideal. I am enjoying my Thursdays off at the moment. So much more relaxed waking up and knowing I don't have to deal with people.

I managed to walk to b&m this morning 3.5 miles round trip, can already telly back is going to be bad later on, but it felt good being out for a decent walk. Think I'll need a nap this afternoon. I should really try and get the Roman blinds I keep saying I'm going to make started, but it feels like such a hassle at the moment. I placed a big Amazon order the other day and can't wait for things to start arriving. I think this afternoon I may make a start on at least a list for my hospital bag and find where the little suitcase is.

I hope everyone got more sleep, or are able to have a nap at some point today to try and make up for it.

@Zaalfruit happy birthday!

@Alana1984 it takes a while to catch up sometimes if you've missed a few days!

@Buzz22 we've not got ours yet, but we've decided on which one we want. Going for the Osyter 3, we had an appointment at a local shop a few weeks ago and decided, but we need to decide on a car seat too. I wouldn't let them test them in the car a DH hasn't cleaned it in ages and we had been moving soil and it was flithly! We have another appointment in a couple of weeks when we will order the pram and car seat. Which one are you thinking of getting?

Treaclepie19 · 16/07/2020 14:51

We've gone for the mamas and papas occaro. Got a really good deal on it and since we loved our old armadillo flip xt we just went for it.

Currently trying to have a sneaky nap but ds isn't having it. I've just had some sugary tea to try and wake up 😴😴😴
I'll be wide awake when it comes to 9pm I'm sure.

Happy birthday @Zaalfruit!! 😊

@BntTowers we went to a shop last weekend for a 'test drive.' Decided on the icandy peach as like @Alana1984 we tend to do lots of walking with the dog so need something suitable for a bit of off roading! It's very pricey though which is why I keep putting off buying it. At this point I think DP may just order one online as hes done with my faffing around!
We will also need a car seat as the icandy doesnt come with one, but like yours, our car is full of soil 🙄 So that meant we didnt get to test them in the car either.
The bugaboo seems very popular. I think some models are more city prams though. We didnt get shown the chameleon in the shop actually, if that's also recommended as being more all terrain maybe I'll have a research of that one online!
Would have been totally out of our depth deciding without the help of the shop lady to be honest.

Have any of you non- first- time mums have the icandy peach or bugaboo chameleon and able to give me a review?

booroo · 16/07/2020 16:23

@Buzz22 I live in the countryside (have dogs and to many horses Shock I brought the icandy peach3 with my last baby and honestly it Handles everything I throw at it with ease and all terrain! I spent over a grand on it with a car seat at the time and honestly do not Regret a penny of it and will be using it again this time around. I loved that it had a carrycot to start (which is also suitable for overnight sleeping if staying away) and then can either parent face or front face from 6 months.. also really handy for quick shops that you can clip
The car seat directly on and use that instead of moving them if asleep (I never did this for long shopping trips) all in a love mine Grin
