Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

@sshl they are usually between £70 and £100 depending on which company you choose/where you are so definitely expensive but I'm hoping it'll be worth it if it shows that baby is doing ok!

sshl · 11/06/2020 10:18

@VAM24 does sound good for peace of mind. I'm between just letting it be and being positive it'll all be ok which I have a feeling it will be but then being worried about being too excited as I'm so scared it's going to go wrong. Silly really I should just enjoy the moment.

Does anyone else keep taking tests to make sure you are still pregnant? I know it's silly but like yesterday I felt absolutely fine and thought why aren't I feeling sick or anything like I have been. Of course today I feel sick again haha. It's a rollercoaster that's for sure

VAM24 · 11/06/2020 10:57

@sshl lol same here!! I just ordered more pregnancy tests which is sooo silly. I'm going to try and just put them away and stop worrying. Lockdown isn't helping either, too much time to worry and less distractions.

Have to keep reminding myself that there is a much better chance of everything being fine! 😊

I'm not feeling too sick yet just the occasional wave but last time it kicked in hard around the 6 week mark so I still have around a week before that. Definitely v tired already though!

sshl · 11/06/2020 11:10

@VAM24 that's good to hear I'm not that crazy for doing it. Guess if it's reassuring it's ok. Haha.

Think it's because it's the first week of finding out still trying to get my head around it and you're so right with being in lockdown as I'm on furlough and my partner is working I'm on my own and it's all I can think about.

I'll be pleased to get to 6 weeks think it feels more of a substantial time for some reason. Probably be regretting hoping for more symptoms hahaha

katiemc89 · 11/06/2020 12:24

I feel like I’m the only person who isn’t doing more tests 😂 feel like maybe I should order some lol. But I know it wouldn’t make me stop worrying so it would be very expensive to feel exactly the same. And I would be worried if the results didn’t come back how I was expecting.

I got my booking appointment for the 25th 🥰

@katiemc89 this is exactly why I’ve not tested any more as well! If the line wasn’t darker or the weeks didn’t progress I’d naturally fall into a state of complete meltdown and not be able to do anything at all about it! I wouldn’t say “blissfully ignorant” as such, more, if you can’t do anything about it, don’t stress yourself out with it! Avoiding anxiety is my number 1 goal!

Can I just ask what everyone is doing about work? Is anyone back to work in a situation that is tricky to socially distance? I’m a teacher and currently not back because I don’t have childcare for my DS (usually grandparents but they obviously can’t have him yet!), but I’ll be expected back as soon as this restriction is lifted. I’m already worrying about this because I don’t feel I can come up with another reason not to go back to work! It would start to sound like I was just finding excuses whereas in all honesty I just want to be back to work under normal circumstances where pregnancy isn’t a risk!

Anyway, yeah... what are you all doing about it?

katiemc89 · 11/06/2020 12:36

@emvy I am with you on that one. Avoiding anxiety is the most I can hope for. I worried so much with my first I don’t want to go down that road again.

I’m a sahm so I can’t really speak from my own experience. Do you know if your work have done risk assessments for pregnant women? Is there anyone you would feel comfortable telling so it can be looked into before you going back? As I believe there doesn’t seem to be much risk to pregnant women before 28 weeks but if it’s a concern you should consider talking to someone confidentially about it xx

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to join as I'm a FTM and due in Feb. Slightly unexpected as I only came off the pill 1st May and it looks like we conceived 14/15 May? I'm actually struggling to work out if that means I'm 1 month pregnant or 6 weeks Confused very confusing as I haven't had a period to gaige it?!
xx

HRlnd15 · 11/06/2020 13:19

@emvy

I'm a salon based self employed hairdresser, social distancing is virtually impossible, the salon has lots of procedures in place for both our and client safety, but 7weeks pregnant, without no one knowing and trying to keep it they way until 12wks. Is ramping up my anxiety..

Plus my clients not seeing me for Nearly 4 months due to lockdown, with potentially 6/7 months left for me when I return,
It's all a bit crazy

Kwmac · 11/06/2020 16:05

@VAM24 @sshl. i took another test yesterday just to make sure. Definitely pregnant. Smile
Won’t do any more as a waste of money! The CB ones are so clear I couldn’t cope with those ones showing the lines!

@emvy you might need to tell them early if you are worried no point in agreeing to go in and then worrying yourself sick about it.

Is anyone else suffering from being really light headed? It really hits me in the afternoon. Thankfully I am
Wfh at the minute.

emvy · 11/06/2020 17:11

Thanks ladies. It’s reassuring to know that others of you are still going to go into work. I guess I just wasn’t sure whether we were advised not to or not really!

My DH wants me to do another test. It’s actually really annoying me because I’ve explained my fears of it but he’s saying it would be silly not to test again before contacting the midwife team... I got a faint One Step and a very very clear FRER so I don’t know why he thinks I need to do another. I only took one FRER and one CB with my DS and he was fine with that so I don’t know why he’s on one this time.. I think because it’s so early maybe. It’s annoying anyway. Votes on whether I should test again please!

@Kwmac yes, I’m getting light headed a lot! I think mine is down to low blood pressure because I’ve struggled with that for years. Annoying isn’t it?!

emvy · 11/06/2020 17:13

@HRlnd15 maybe do a CB Digi with the weeks thing? That might help make it clearer. Just add 2 weeks to whatever result you get.

fafi · 11/06/2020 17:28

Hi everyone! Congratulations on your BFPs!

I have made a Facebook group for ladies due in February and everyone is welcome to join!

www.facebook.com/groups/febparty21

I had a chemical pregnancy last month and was in a Facebook group. It was really lovely and supportive and I would love to get another one going!

Hope to see some of you there xx

fafi · 11/06/2020 17:32

After looking for ages I found a more well established group! Sorry ladies xx

VAM24 · 11/06/2020 17:57

Hey @emvy hope you're ok. Definitely don't do more tests if it'll worry you. The frers are the best so if that was positive then you are definitely pregnant. The one steps aren't as good I don't think - my line on that was sooo faint even when the digitals showed 'pregnant'.

If you do end up retesting maybe use a standard digital - they are a bit safer mentally because you can't stress about line progression

Have you gone to the gp/midwife yet?

CWF123 · 11/06/2020 19:05

@emvy my testers very faint and it's actually disappeared now, I did do another just because I had one a few days later but when I spoke to my midwife she said you don't get false positives so hopefully that helps x

katiemc89 · 11/06/2020 19:23

@fafi thanks for the link. I will wait until 12 weeks to join so my in-laws can’t find out through Facebook we’re expecting 😂

There is also a secret group on Facebook which I can send you the link of if you would like it xx

OP posts:
katiemc89 · 11/06/2020 19:33

@emvy I wouldn’t do more tests if it wouldn’t be good for you mentally. You’ve had positive results and nothing to make you think to the contrary. I’ve only taken 1 test and I only took 1 with my first. Don’t go down the rabbit hole if it won’t be good for you xx

OP posts:
fafi · 11/06/2020 20:36

@katiemc89 that would be great thanks! I was a bit nervous about the name of the other group xx

sshl · 11/06/2020 20:36

@emvy if it'll stress you definitely don't do anymore. I did one today as I had a horrible dream last night and it shock me up so wanted to just do another one to settle my mind. May sound mad but we are all different I guess. :)

I really want to join the group on Facebook there's also another I want to join to but I'm worried someone will see me joining it like @katiemc89 said! Is it a private group? Can people still see if you're in a private group? 🤔

fafi · 11/06/2020 20:45

@sshl as far as I know only members can see members in private groups. The secret one sounds good, especially if it's smaller as the other one is getting busy (though I've not been accepted yet)! Although that could be useful! It's all so new! 🙈

sshl · 11/06/2020 21:17

@fafi I know! I keep thinking I'm going to accidentally share one of my photos of one of my tests on Facebook or somewhere 😂

The private one sounds good @katiemc89 could you send me the link? Although I don't know how to get messages on here 🤔

katiemc89 · 11/06/2020 21:58

@sshl I have sent it to you. I just go into my inbox via my email. Not done it on the site directly xx

Piccalily19 · 12/06/2020 13:16

Hi everyone, haven’t posted in here for a while sorry! Hope everyone is doing ok!
Ive also booked an 8 week scan privately through window to the womb (I think)!
I did it as my partner is desperate to tell his family but I’ve told him I’d rather have some confirmation first (so this was our compromise lol)
Also I’m aware things can go wrong after 8 weeks but I figured if anything is wrong from the get go it will save me 4 weeks of heartache. Quite excited! Think it was £69 for me and it’s worth it so both of us can go as opposed to just me.
Ive told my manager at work as I’m quite friendly with her and I felt id be less anxious if 1 person in the office knew about it just in case. I was that worked up about telling her I cried when I did 😂😂 think she was worried something horrible had happened! But now she knows I’m happy to crack on with work as normal and I’ll just keep my physical distance from people.
Has anyone started being sick yet? Morning sickness does worry me a little!
