Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

Oh and I’m officially addicted to pregnancy tests 😂 done about 6 now just for the fun of it haha. Almost feel like I’m getting a little wave hello from the baby when I do one!

katiemc89 · 12/06/2020 14:31

@Piccalily19 hey! Glad everything is going well. A few people are doing early scans. We’re waiting until the 12 weeks and then will do a private one at 16 weeks for the gender. Hubby is sad he won’t be able to come to scans and appointments, fingers crossed it’ll change by the time we get to 12 weeks 🤞🏼

We have avoided testing because I would become obsessed 😂 just the one bfp for us (feel like I’m the only one who hasn’t done multiple lol)

It is stressful having to tell work, but you’ve bit the bullet and done it now. I cried while telling my grandparents and they thought I didn’t want it 😂😂

@katiemc89 my manager thought the exact same thing I think 😂😂 brilliant! Glad I’m not the only crier haha.
Bravo for resisting tests! Ironic really as I didn’t bother testing originally until I was 2 days late, can’t bloody stop now!

Hi everyone.

Congratulations! I got my BFP on Monday and by calculations I’m 5+2weeks. I’m 29 this month and live in East Yorkshire.

This is my first pregnancy so quite nervous of every little thing. My symptoms seem to come and go, apart from permanent tiredness Grin, I’m getting mild dull cramps on and off sometimes just one side, maybe twice a day but not every day? Sore boobs come and go (this morning flat as pancakes!) and frequent urination but today I’ve had lower right side back ache. Is this common does anyone know? Should I worry some of my symptoms have come and gone? No bleeding or severe cramp pain or anything. 12 Weeks sounds so far away, hope I’m not this anxious all the way there Confused!!

Look forward to getting to chat to you all. Smile Xx

CWF123 · 12/06/2020 20:37

Hi @pinkhart ... congratulations!!
Everything you've said sounds normal I think and Iv experienced some of the same apart from mine were more my nipples than my boobs and wow they were painful! My app says I'm 7 weeks but I actually think I'm more 5/6 weeks i will see when I see the midwife!
As embarrassing as this sounds I had pains in one side and it turned out to be trapped wind (I never suffer with this) but I was relieved when it went haha!
From what I can gather and have researched unless there is heavy bleeding all is okay, I'm super early and first baby too so hopefully someone further along or on a second pregnancy will clarify for us both?
X

Piccalily19 · 12/06/2020 22:06

@pinkhart @CWF123 Im 5 weeks and exactly the same, I felt more pregnant last week and now symptoms are only coming and going this week. Only thing that’s stuck around so far is tiredness and constant burping 🙈

IamC · 12/06/2020 22:11

@Piccalily19 @CWF123 @pinkhart Same. These last few days my sore boobs have disappeared and the aches and pains are less frequent. Though the tiredness and insomnia is still full throttle. Amazing how our bodies react, and we all get different experiences

CWF123 · 12/06/2020 22:26

@IamC oh god the not sleeping why does this happen! I can't seem to get comfy and when I do I instantly need a wee! 🙈 hopefully this passes soon because I'm so tired 😂 I'm going to get out in the fresh air all day tomorrow and hopefully that will help me get a decent sleep!

IamC · 12/06/2020 23:01

@CWF123 today is the first day I haven't napped, but not out of choice. Knackered all day and now wide awake. Hoping I will sleep until a normal hour tomorrow. Hoping the fresh air works for you!

CWF123 · 13/06/2020 00:06

@IamC I'm the same I haven't napped today. Now I'm wide awake after thinking "I'll stay up late so I definitely have a good sleep" 🙈

MrsB12 · 13/06/2020 20:25

Hi all.
I got a positive test this morning- reckon about 3-4 weeks but not entirely sure as I cannot remember my last period!

@emvy I am also a teacher (in primary) and we are due to go back and teach June 29th (I am in Wales). I have been so worried all day about what the reaction of headteacher etc will be as I am more than happy to go back as normal. Feel like my unnecessary worries have ruined the excitement I should have been feeling!

emvy · 13/06/2020 21:15

Welcome @pinkhart and @MrsB12!

I’ve still not taken another test. I had a proper chat with DH & he thankfully accepted that 2 is actually enough clarification!

I feel the same with the symptoms dropping today. I’m 5+1. Maybe it’s a week 5 thing? 😂🤞🏻 I’ve also been sleeping poorly. Almost like I don’t properly switch off and am always in a light sleep. Very annoying! Especially when I’m up with my toddler at least twice a night as well! So exhausted. It is all normal at this stage though for symptoms to fluctuate. Not that that makes us worry any less of course! I didn’t feel sick preparing dinner tonight so now I’m obviously panicking! Ha.

@MrsB12, I hope work goes ok! I don’t know if I’m going to tell anyone at work yet. Good luck if you do! I’m sure they’ll be over the moon for you.

FebruaryBear · 13/06/2020 22:01

Hi ladies, hope you're all well!

Feb21 seems busy already! I think I am 6+4, due 4th Feb... though my dates were out by a week according to the dating scan with my first so we'll see!

My first is a Feb 2018 baby (due 3rd born 7th) so they will likely have very close birthdays. This one feels quite different so far, I had hardly any symptoms with my first but have had nausea for about 2 weeks already!

I'd like to join the FB group :)

katiemc89 · 13/06/2020 22:18

@FebruaryBear

I have pm’d you the link for the Facebook group

Wow - February is a busy month for you! Lol hopefully they won’t have to share a birthday lol

@MrsB12 i remember having anxiety over telling work with my first (I had not long started etc) so I know how it feels to lose some of the excitement to the worry. Try not to though, it is an exciting time and I’m sure your boss and colleagues will be happy for you.

There have been a few expectant mothers who are teachers and they have been advised they are not to go back to work under the current guidelines. Probably worth biting the bullet and seeing where you all stand sooner rather than later. Good luck xx

@emvy thanks for checking in on my post regarding this! It has been nice hearing the thoughts of others!

@katiemc89 thank you. No doubt I will pluck up the courage to speak to my headteacher this week and realise, like you said, my worries were for nothing!

CWF123 · 13/06/2020 23:01

@katiemc89 how long had you been at your new job for before you told them? I'm the In the same position still pretty early in pregnancy but recently got a new job and I'm so worried to tell them! I'm definitely going to wait till after my 12 week scan anyway! Also how do you hide your bump! I look bloated at the min so it makes me think I'll be showing before I'm 12 weeks 🙈

CWF123 · 13/06/2020 23:02

@MrsB12 I'd wait Thor as long as you can unless your worried about the covid risk then mention it sooner I'm sure they will want you and the baby to be as safe as possible :) congratulations by the way x

wannabe123 · 14/06/2020 07:23

Hi, I've just had my bfp. We've been trying since January. It doesn't feel real yet!
@emvywhat to do for the best. It's still such early days! I think I am only 11 dpo.

My phone muddled that up! Meant to say I am a teacher too and have been in working with the keyworker bubble. I don't really want to tell my head yet and not be allowed in. I'm loving being back!
Anastacia1 · 14/06/2020 07:56

Hi can I join I just got my BFP this morning after a few days of faint lines only 12Dpo so still early days according to App I should be due 25th Feb ☺️🤞🏼

katiemc89 · 14/06/2020 08:38

@CWF123 I think I had only been there a month. Hiding my pregnancy wasn’t an issue for me. I carry a lot of weight in my middle and my daughter was back to back so I never popped. On the day I was leaving I was telling some people and they had no idea I was pregnant 😂

CWF123 · 14/06/2020 18:07

@katiemc89 oh that's handy Iv got a feeling I'm going to show in a few weeks! I hope there not angry with me when I tell them!

Pixielou16 · 14/06/2020 18:57

Hi everyone, got my BFP on Thursday and I think I am 5 weeks today. My boobs have suddenly got huge to the point I've had to buy bigger bras! Anyone else? I also got quite a strong line on Saturday so I'm thinking maybe twins?
We have booked a scan for 7 weeks as I am already really anxious!

Arrowcat · 14/06/2020 20:31

I just bought a sloggi bra and it's super comfy but I'm not sure it's built to last.
Other than that I really struggled with my last one finding comfortable bras and eventually had sports bras during pregnancy and then plain M&S maternity.
Anyone else got any they found good?

Glad to hear everyone seems to be getting on ok.
I had to tell work last week as I was so sick and I've made the decision that's me off for a while. (There's multiple factors in this, including long commute, time away from home and hyperemesis).
I feel guilty but also relieved - now Iv e told them I'm fully protected.
So to any others that need time off - if you do, you do.
