Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

@BohemianChastity where I live in London I’m practically considered a teenage mum at 31! All of my ‘mum mates’ are early 40s with their first (seriously my entire NCT gang) so you absolutely are not too old to do this!! You’ll smash it - don’t be teary. X

katiemc89 · 07/06/2020 19:15

@Piccalily19 the internet lol googled everything and anything and always found there are opposite ways to do things and people who believe they are right and others are wrong lol. It’s a lot of instincts. My daughter is the first grandchild on both sides and I don’t have any babies around. Antenatal classes are a big help. Sitting with a group of expectant parents and plastic dolls haha. You’ll be fine hun xx

Congratulations joiners! Such an exciting time and age definitely is just a number. We’re all going through the same things!

@Piccalily19 they don’t test at my practice, they just take it that you are and book you in for your 12 week scan etc at 8 weeks (well they did last time but I don’t know how much that’s changed now). It’s good you’re getting a call next week! I’m holding fire now just for not wanting to jinx things 🙄

The book is called Mindful Hypnobirthing but there is quite possibly a newer version around now as DS is 2 so was a few years ago I read it!

emvy · 07/06/2020 19:31

@Chazzii95 sorry just seen your message on the next page. I have everything crossed that this little bean is a sticky one 🤞🏻

Hi ladies,

Can I join?

I'm Sam 31 from the north east, just found out on Friday that I'm around 4 weeks pregnant after a MMC in February I am so worried the same might happen again but I have a almost 4 year old so I'm holding on to hope that this time will be ok like it was then.

Symptoms I have are cramping which I've had in my other two pregnancies, tiredness and feeling a bit nausea today. I've never suffered from sickness in previous pregnancies so will hopefully avoid this.

Congratulations to you all xx

katiemc89 · 08/06/2020 12:01

@sammymjm1 of course you can join. Congratulations and fingers crossed for you. I imagine you’re probably very anxious. Can I ask, when did you have your MMC? I have an irrational fear of miscarriages I think. Have you considered an early scan for reassurance? Xx

thank you! @EmbarrassingMama that made me lol! I feel like a teenager and am young at heart plus fit and healthy. Just a bit shocked and terrified

BohemianChastity · 08/06/2020 12:19

@katiemc89 thank you :)

sammymjm1 · 08/06/2020 12:21

katiemc89 thank you. I found out when I was 10 weeks, the baby measured 6 weeks. It is very scary but please try and enjoy your pregnancy and put that at the back of your mind, that what I'm trying to do but its hard isn't it! It's a totally different experience to my first, I think I was quite naive and in our own little bubble back then.

The hospital were great with me and said next time I am pregnancy to call them and they will scan me at 8 weeks which is amazing. I will call them in a few weeks. To be honest if this wasn't an option I would have to get a private scan I couldn't wait until 12 weeks!

Will you get a early scan? X

BohemianChastity · 08/06/2020 12:44

My others are 9,12,12 (step), 15, 15 (step). the step children dont live with us so not as 'Waltons' as it seems :) @Piccalily19

VAM24 · 08/06/2020 13:37

Hi everyone. Please can I join too? I'm nearly 5 weeks pregnant after a MMC in March so very nervous this time. I think EDD is around 10th Feb** if everything goes ok.

Started feeling a bit nauseous today which I'm hoping is a good sign.

Congrats to you all, hoping everyone has a healthy pregnancy Smile xx

Kwmac · 08/06/2020 14:49

Hi would you mind if I joined too? Congrats to everyone! I am 35 and got a positive test on Friday think I am 4/5 weeks now. It will be my first baby. We got married in September and were supposed to be going on honeymoon in Aug but got cancelled because of COVID so thought we would go for it. Didn’t expect to get pregnant so easily so is a bit of a shock. Now I keep thinking something is going to go wrong. I have some cramps but think it is normal. My DD is 14th Feb! Lovely to hear everyone’s stories and have somewhere to talk about it! Plan on not telling anyone until 12 weeks.

Kwmac · 08/06/2020 14:50

Sorry I though DD was due date oops! Due date 14th feb! Smile

sshl · 08/06/2020 15:20

Hi everyone

I've been following this thread I hope it's ok to join you, I've been too nervous to write as I didn't want to jinx it before I was 100% sure, I have done a few cheap tests first at 10dpo with a very faint line but I've now just done a FRER and it's super clear hurrah.

I'm 34 OH is 43 my first pregnancy we've been trying for around 1 year. My OH has a son 18yrs old who lives with us part time but think he maybe with us full time soon. We live in Birmingham.

Due date is the 18th February.

So happy to be part of this group and have found it very helpful during the waiting time as previously I've driven myself mad and started to think I was the only one losing their mind over symptoms etc!

So far I've had nausea but no vomiting, very thirsty, some cramping but nothing more than period cramping would be and a bad back but I was painting all last week so just assumed it was that haha.

Xxx

katiemc89 · 08/06/2020 18:18

Welcome ladies, everyone is welcome to join. So lovely to have so many people joining in. It’s really nice to hear everyone’s different experiences but how we’re all due around the same time.

@VAM24 I think all symptoms are a good sign. I’ve had some cramping, horrible taste of copper in my mouth and sore boobs!

@Kwmac aww a little valentines baby! Cute! My partner and I also conceived very quickly. I got a negative and had worried we didn’t manage it but waited almost a week and no period so did another and got that BFP Smile

@sshl congratulations, I know what you mean, I felt the same, you want to be excited and talk through all the anxious pregnancy stuff but finding the right people to talk to is difficult. I’ve had the same symptoms are you really. Few twinges here and there. The back pains already though(!!) imagine how they’ll be at 38 weeks Confused

Xx

What is everyone doing about early scans and when to tell people?

Can't decide if I should book a scan or not have emailed a couple of places to see if they are still open because of covid so maybe will book for peace of mind.

We haven't told anyone yet but I kind of want to tell my closest friend and sister as it's better to have support either way but also so scared of jinxing it!

HRlnd15 · 08/06/2020 18:37

I’m around 6/7weeks pregnant with our first child, due feb 2021, incredibly excited but oh so anxious, the wait for a 12week scan is killing me, I have a phone appt next week with midwife, and then hopefully a date for the scan. Praying squidge is okay in there. 🙏🏼
This baby is so needed and wanted after a very stressful and traumatic start to the year
Not told anyone just mine & husbands secret for now :)

Xx

Alrowley · 08/06/2020 18:45

Hi girls :)

Congrats to all of you!

I’m Amy from Yorkshire and just had a faint faint line on a hcg stick test today at 12dpo! I bought some clear blue tests to test again Wed (af due date) and double check!

I have nausea, sore boobs/nipples, tiredness and a weird taste in mouth :)

I have 1 girl ages 3 :)

sshl · 08/06/2020 18:59

@Kwmac I know the back pain scares me, it was probably a combination of leaning over doing all the painting for a week and everything else, I'm really tall so always struggle with my back. I try and do loads of yoga to stretch it etc hoping that'll help me through. I also have this mat that's got little spikes on it (it's not as bad as it sounds haha) it's like acupuncture it really helps so hoping I can keep using that.

Scans I'm not sure this is all so new to me. I've got an appt at the GP surgery next Wednesday to see the nurse so I guess I will find out then. If you can have an early scan I definitely would piece of mind and all that.

I really want to tell my best friend and parents but think I'll try and wait until my scan but who knows. Easier as I won't see them so they won't notice haha. Don't wanna jinx it by saying too early, I'm very superstitious of stuff like that unfortunately for me haha.

Finger crossed for a big clear positive for you @Alrowley mine was super faint only yesterday could hardly see it and I was so unsure if it could be true and here I am 100% positive just the next day it's crazy and so exciting xx

emvy · 08/06/2020 19:02

So lovely to see everyone on board! Congratulations all!

I’ve had some pretty uncomfortable cramps the past couple of days which have sent me into a panic but I’m hoping it’s all normal. Annoyingly I seem to have forgotten everything that happened in my pregnancy with DS! I’m also having some nausea here and there, and getting tired. Also someone mentioned thirst... this too!

I think I’d like an early scan around 8/9 weeks but I can’t see my DH going for that. He’s a very much “do as we’re told” sort of person & thinks therefore we wait for the medically advised NHS test at 12 weeks. At least that’s what he thought with DS despite a MMC and MC beforehand! The 12 week scan is petrifying since the MMC and I’d love some reassurance before but there we go.

I’m already looking forward to seeing some early scan pictures from those of you that have them!

Alrowley · 08/06/2020 19:03

@sshl Ah really? How many DPO are you or have you already missed your period?

I have some slight cramps here and there. I had a light test last month too but then had a bleed so I assumed it had gone but it’s okay, not bothered about it! :) it is what it is !

emvy · 08/06/2020 19:04

Oh and in regards to the faint test @Alrowley, have you used a First Response? They’re the most sensitive on the market and should give you a nice clear positive.

Alrowley · 08/06/2020 19:09

I have a clear blue which measure 10 HCG so that should show something tomorrow as AF due Tues/ Wed.

The test i did today was a stick one which measures 25 HCG. I did not want to travel to superdrug to buy the first response and so my only choice was the clear blue :)

I’ve only tested 4 days late in the past bu because I feel so sick/ tired and my nipples are so sore and hard I was curious!

VAM24 · 08/06/2020 19:19

@emvy ahh similar to me! We had an MMC in March picked up by an early private scan and definitely wasn't a nice experience so hubby wants to wait for the standard NHS one this time. I'd like to as well but would also like some reassurance that everything is ok! Will decide in the next few weeks

@Alrowley fingers crossed for a stronger BFP tomorrow! Smile
