Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

Hello again Smile I had an early private scan today and honestly it was amazing..I am measuring 9 weeks. I am constantly bloated (it’s really bad) and I have mild nausea but most of the time, feeling quite tired too and sometimes having to have a power nap mid afternoon to get through work! We’ve told our parents and I’m telling my best friend tomorrow, but are holding off until 12 weeks for everybody else. It was incredible seeing that little heartbeat and legs wiggling around! Hope everybody is ok xx

Wow 4th baby...thats lovely too, how did you find the transition from baby 2 to 3, what car do you drive?

LuluHoops · 22/07/2020 09:53

@JessicaPeach can I be added to the private fb group please? I'm being a huge technophobe and can't find a way to message you on the app 🧐🧐

Kwmac · 22/07/2020 13:49

@Kat5464 I'm exactly the same as you. 10+6 today and 12 week scan next Friday. Went for an early scan at 8 weeks so hopefully all ok still.

I am feeling awful today. So dizzy. Have been fine for the last few weeks so know I am lucky but finding it hard to get through the day!

Welcome to all the new people!

You can't message on the app you have to do it via a browser x

Kat5464 · 22/07/2020 17:32

@kwmac
How much was the private scan if U dont mind me asking. Thx

Kwmac · 22/07/2020 18:03

@Kat5464 it was £65. Was a bit disappointed as didn’t see much early on but we went as at the time partners weren’t allowed at the 12 week one. That’s changed now though

CWF123 · 22/07/2020 20:06

@Kwmac ... how do you know it's change? I'm due to have my first scan next week and I was told they aren't allowed in to NHS ones. X

Kwmac · 22/07/2020 21:27

@CWF123 I live in NI and the advice changed recently that your partner was allowed to attend your 12 week and 20 week scan. Might be different in England.

Jonsey1987 · 22/07/2020 21:38

I'm in Manchester and my other half can attend?? ( mine is ages away tho) it says you can't bring children if they can't be left unattended but you can bring someone to look after them if needs be - so I presume OH allowed??? I also spoke to them to change my appt and mentioned it then - she didn't say I couldn't!

CWF123 · 22/07/2020 22:12

@Kwmac ahh right yeah I think it's still a no in England....

@Jonsey1987 ... I got my appointment for my 12 week scan though 1.5/2 weeks ago and the letter said they could attend ect... I called to double check and they say we have to go alone.... they said ALL letters haven't been updated and they would ring you the day before your scan to advise you to come alone... I only know this because I rang to double check with them because my friend had to go alone and I was confused with the letter... so maybe ring and check x

Kat5464 · 22/07/2020 22:22

Im in Essex & my appt is next Thrs & my letter said cant take anyone not even Hubby. ☹

Jonsey1987 · 22/07/2020 23:43

Gutting. I had a scan at 6weeks at my epu (previous etopic) I presumed you could only go alone to find the waiting room full of OH'S!!! And people asked whether they could stay and they gave them the choice!?! My scan is 19th Aug and I'll be 13 weeks. Fingers crossed for you all x

Kat5464 · 23/07/2020 08:29

Morning ladies,
Had couple of days with little aches in my tummy, and I dont seem as bloated, in fact tummy feels quite flat, not sure I feel pregnant anymore. Do I book an early scan, do I wait till next Thrs? Hmmm ill let U know how today goes, no bleeding or anything yet.

LJ1005 · 23/07/2020 09:29

Hi everyone

My partner and I are expecting our first baby in feb and couldn’t be more excited (and terrified)

I work in a shop so once I found out I’m pregnant I was put on something called maternity suspension and told I wouldn’t be back until after my regular maternity leave due to the pandemic.

Now there’s talk of me going back in a couple of weeks and I’m not sure I feel comfortable with that.

I’m bored out of my mind at home but I’ve been told by other staff that customers aren’t following guidelines and it’s a bit of a worry.

Just wondering if anyone else is in a similar position and what you plan to do. Any ideas?

Cheers guys

J2Squared · 23/07/2020 11:12

@LJ1005 hiya, I work in a bank but am currently working from home. I am yet to tell my manager about my pregnancy (waiting for 12 week scan) but am also not willing to return to the office until it is 100% safe. I’m not in a branch but head office in a building of 10,000 plus people.
Are you able to do any jobs that aren’t customer facing, but also a job safe for you and bump to carry out?

Summerrp · 23/07/2020 11:33

I work in a Nursing Home, I'm a health care assistant so have been going to work as normal. It is a worry as obviously I'm working on the front line therefore at risk but I have no option to work from home. I'm avoiding any rooms with barrier Nursing and have been given light duties so no hoisting or lifting x

Jonsey1987 · 23/07/2020 11:46

I'm in a school - I told school early and had a risk assessment. Have you got a union?? You need to find out in what capacity you'll go back?! I'm not sure what the latest gvt advice is? I've been sent something which states its work from home at 28 weeks gestation. I'm feeling bored - really bored. Usually I have 2 holidays during the summer but don't want to risk flying pregnant.

LJ1005 · 23/07/2020 12:39

I’m waiting to hear back from the union coz there’s not a lot I can do that isn’t customer facing. There’s a few office jobs but not enough to last a full shift

SLC91 · 23/07/2020 20:41

Hi all, I am due around 13th February with my first! Super excited and shocked!! Had terrible symptoms around week 8/9 but now just feel tired and bloated! Still haven’t got my letter through for my 12 week scan but was told it would be a delay!! Looking forward to connecting with people!

CWF123 · 23/07/2020 20:58

Congratulations guys! :)
I work in an office I think as linn as you are wearing a mask and taking precautions you should be fine it's government law that you have to wear them in public places tomorrow anyway.
I couldn't not be working it wouldn't be good for my anxiety especially as a first time mum and all the added worries and stresses of not being about to attend any classes to help prepare 🙈 I think if your safe you should be safe...
I saw on the bbc today that partners can attend scans now hope that means it will be changing for the UK aswell!

LJ1005 · 24/07/2020 04:59

Thanks everyone, feel better knowing others are getting on ok with work.

@SLC91 I’m due around feb 10th and only got my letter on Wednesday. Apparently a lot of people in my area are getting scan dates around their 14week mark so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Just gotta wait a little longer to see our little ones Smile

Kat5464 · 24/07/2020 20:12

Good luck with all your pregnancies & babies, im over and out.
Spent the afternoon in Hospital with suspected MC & eventually had a scan external & internal & no heartbeat, lost baby at 8wks & body only just telling me, I kinda expected it but hoped otherwise as would have been last chance/ last baby. Emosh but ok, wish you all well from the bottom of my heart, enjoy it ladies, despite the ups n downs its a beautiful time. Big Hugs. Katrina x

CWF123 · 24/07/2020 21:03
