Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. I think i’m expecting a Feb 2021 baby and would love to cautiously join in Smile. I had a mc in March - bleeding, cramps and an empty uterus when scanned by EPU at 8 weeks - so being cautious about how I go this time, although finding out later this time I’ve made some massive missteps and i’m really really worried.

I have had runny eggs that were from a local farm and not Red Lion-stamped, I have had a medium rare burger, and I have (sorry if this is TMI) done some things orally with my partner that might not have been very sensible but it was his birthday.... So i’m terrified of listeria and salmonella and fecal-borne bacteria and their affect on the pregnancy (I sound so gross, don’t i? Usually we’re very vanilla). Thank god ive not been drinking too - i’m losing my mind. I have a private scan on Saturday but i’m so afraid of damage caused and another mc.

I have my booking apt next week. Can I ask for a blood test for harmful bacterial infections? Not had many significant pregnancy symptoms for 8 weeks. Just mild occasional nausea (but green tea now makes me vomit), tiredness, sore boobs and I had cramping at 5 weeks but now it’s gone. No spotting. My partner is very clean... but i’ve started googling and some bacterial infections lay dormant for months.

I’m 34 and this is my second and hopefully first successful pregnancy. Lovely to read all your stories these past few days xxx

Hi @Rosebiscuit welcome and congrats!!

I think those things only matter if they actually make you ill (which is super unlikely!) - if you're feeling fine I'm sure the baby will be too 😊 worth checking with the midwife but I wouldn't worry.

lucyy89 · 09/07/2020 13:26

@NavyBerry Im so sorry to hear this. Sending you lots of love xx

Rosebiscuit · 09/07/2020 13:50

@NavyBerry I'm so sad for you. Having been through something identical not so very long ago, I know how hollowing it is. Be kind to yourself. Rest. You may feel tidal waves and numbness all at once. One day, you will wake up and you'll have spent your sadness and it'll be better. It'll pass. All my love. x

Rosebiscuit · 09/07/2020 13:53

@VAM24 congratulations to you too! Sorry, my introduction into MN was really bad. Hi I'm Rose and I eat raw beef and lick my partner's bum for fun. Please be my friend?

I'm very normal really. :o)

EmBrum · 09/07/2020 14:07

Welcome @Rosebiscuit hehe I liked your introductions! I'm sure you'll be fine.

Just had my 2 letters through - booking appointment is next Tuesday at 10+1 weeks by phone. Dating scan and bloods not at hospital but a local medical centre. 7 August at about 13.5 weeks so that works ok. Glad I chased them up. No mention of partners so I think I'll call nearer the time to check on latest policy.

CEBT · 09/07/2020 14:55

@NavyBerry I'm so sorry to hear this. Take care of yourself and let yourself rest x

JessicaPeach · 09/07/2020 17:34

Hi All, hope you are all well, don't forget if you want to join us on fb send me a pm xx

VAM24 · 09/07/2020 20:57

@EmBrum glad you got your appointments through now! Mine says in big bold letters that I have to attend alone so hubby will wait in the car park 😔 fingers crossed that'll change soon.. I think Scotland just announced that partners can go to scans so hopefully we will follow suit!

How is everyone sleeping? I'm usually such a good sleeper but struggling to get to and stay asleep atm even tho I feel v tired!

Can't wait till the 12 week scan so I can get excited, I'm still so nervous atm!

CWF123 · 09/07/2020 21:16

@vam24 Thanks! I really hope it changes too.
Yes really struggling to get off to sleep and up a couple of times to pee!
Sick twice today during work (at home) 🤢

katiemc89 · 11/07/2020 08:42

Good morning ladies. Unfortunately at my 8+6 week scan we found a very small baby, far too small for the dates I am certain of. I have to wait until next Friday to be scanned again but I am sure this pregnancy will not be progressing. Take care of yourselves and enjoy it all as much as you can xx

NavyBerry · 11/07/2020 19:13

@katiemc89 I'm very sorry for you. This is awful. I hope you are coping and your DD helps you. My 2.5 DD is my only joy now.

katiemc89 · 11/07/2020 20:50

@NavyBerry yes, I think having my little girl really has given me strength. I need to move forward for her. I’m a person who usually dwells on feelings but I can’t for her sake. She truly is wonderful and a reason to smile everyday. I’m glad you have the same comfort xx

Thank you @EmBrum xx

Oh no @katiemc89 I am so sorry to hear that! I had a very similar experience back in March, it really is awful but if you want to chat about anything specific, feel free to message

Hope you have a good support network around you. Sending virtual hugs xx

Kat5464 · 14/07/2020 21:29

Is any1 struggling a bit with their skin, I have really bad sore big spots all round back of neck/behind ears hormonal spots. Urgh. Blush im drinking alot of water but its not helping, plus Im really hungry, but trying to avoid eating too much as hard to shift weight once babies here.

EmBrum · 14/07/2020 22:21

@kat5464 I have a few breakouts this week, to add to all the rest of it - still very sick at 10+2 weeks.

Disappointed this evening - my booking appointment was meant to take place at 2.30 this afternoon by phone. I waited by phone ALL afternoon and nothing. Tried the hospital and they don't deal with the community lists. No other phone number. I'm exhausted from being on tenterhooks for 3 hours. If I was sat in a clinic they probably couldn't ignore me for that long. Ggrrrr! Sorry for rant.

KW4816 · 14/07/2020 22:28

@kat5464 I can relate! I’ve never really suffered with spots but I’ve had breakouts on my neck and even tops of shoulders, it’s tricky when you’ve not really had them before! I’m also really hungry but my cravings and likes/dislikes change everyday. My biggest realisation is I’ve completely gone off anything artificially sweetened and love fresh juices..far from ideal. Trying to stick to squash! I’m loving icy water or icy orange squash - or ice pops! Such a strange wonderful journey! Smile

Kat5464 · 14/07/2020 22:32

@Embrum
Im 10+5 and have my booking appt on Sat, actually in the Hospital. (Essex), thats tough having to wait around to be told nothing they can do, how did U book it in 1st place? Can u call that No. again? Or maybe they'll write to U (bit long winded but how mine was arranged). Maybe your Hospital had an emergency? Hope u get it sorted soon. 🤞

Kat5464 · 14/07/2020 22:40

@KW4816
Ahh thats lovely to hear, apart from the spots! Urgh, mine are all along my hairline aswell& snap ive never really suffered so its uncomfy, but hopefully wont last long.
Havent really had any cravings yet. Am definitely more thirsty though.

Kwmac · 14/07/2020 23:00

@katiemc89 I am so sorry to hear this. I have my fingers crossed for your next scan. Hoping things are ok.

EmBrum · 15/07/2020 00:23

Thanks @Kat5464 - they didn't let me know though - just left me hanging all afternoon/evening. It's the community midwives through a local medical centre so wouldn't have been a hospital emergency. But the appointment letter came from the hospital. I reckon an admin error. 🤦‍♀️
