Hi all. I wasn't wanted to hijack any threads on hear with specific questions, but wondered if anyone fancied a chat thread for us classed as mature mums to be? Anyone who feels they fit in that box are welcome to join.

I will start. 🌞

I am 41. I have a 10 year old ds and one mmc 3 yrs ago. New partner is reason for the gap.

I was very shocked when I found out as we had assumed that ship had sailed as no joy since mmc. Head was in that camp and was quite a shock to come out of it.

I am 13 weeks based on my scan later Friday. Awaiting NIPT results hopefully today or tomorrow. Been cautious after mmc but hard to not get so attached as the weeks go by.

My first purchase if all ok will be a pregnancy pillow.

Honestly I feel massive already. I am very overweight but was with ds and had a perfect fuss free pregnancy. This time I am so 🤢 and tired and feel just ill from 4pm onwards.

Instead of it easing up, last night I was still feeling 🤢 trying to sleep and was very uncomfortable due to feeling like my womb is massive.

Anyone else feeling like this? Goodness knows how I will be weeks from now. Eeek.

Oh @Sheera1 I can totally understand your frustration and worry. We were warned this could happen. Don't apologise, it really does suck. Have you had your Nuchal results yet? Surely they will come before the Harmony now and might give you an idea?

Sheera1 · 19/05/2020 14:50

NHS said Nuchal could be 4 weeks. That is another 3 weeks this coming Friday.

Had a wee cry and feeling a bit better now. Think my horrible dream made me anxious about it. Xx

4 weeks!? Mine told me if there's a high risk showing they'd call me within 3 days. If not, I'd get a letter within 2 weeks.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 19/05/2020 17:33

Hello! I'm 44 and 13 weeks pregnant. Had my "12" weeks scan today and everything looked great. I am not having screening tests. I have older children but this pregnancy is off the back of 3 consecutive mcs.

stairgates · 19/05/2020 19:25

Sheera, thats a bit shitty about no results :( Is your NT scan this Friday or was it last Friday?

Onlyreading, do you have your scan pic! I would love to guess for you :) I think I guessed boy for you Frazzlerock on your thread :)

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 19/05/2020 19:40

I do but I don't think you can see the nub on it! Will post anyway!

Ta all. Feeling better after a blub this morning. NT scan was last Friday and they said usually 3 weeks but probably taking 4 at the moment. Shish. I will be 17/18 weeks when I get results. Not happy. Fingers crossed all is ok.

@Frazzlerock I ordered your pillow so at least I have it. Was going to wait but can't another 3 weeks!

@stairgates you can try to guess mine too if you like but the scan pic is shit and can only really see the head. 😀

That is a week earlier at private scan x

Oh and to cheer me up if I need to go back and give more NIPT blood I will ask for another wee scan as think about £30. That will cheer me up just another wee check all pools ok along the way. Xx

Oh to be 30 and not worry so much like I did first time. Didn't give this stuff a second thought.

@onlyreadingneverposting8 that is lovely news after your mmc's. I will try and guess your scan too. X

Sheera Im gonna have a hesitant girl guess for you :)

Sheera1 · 19/05/2020 23:27

@stairgates Girl is my hunch. Mainly because of how different this pregnancy is to ds and where weight is going on. And old wives tales about craving sweet foods. I guessed ds as had a strong hunch. ❤

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I am going to guess a cute wee boy for fun (knowing absolutely nothing about scan theories). Your scan picture is so clear it is amazing ❤

Here's my 20 wk scan for a laugh. Little beggar wouldn't turn her head so all of them look freaky like this.

Hello all, may I join you?

I might have seen you Frazzlerock on the ttc over 40 thread? Congrats !

Sheera I had into do a second draw on the NIPT test too due to insufficient fetal DNA. It's such a stressful wait. I will cross my fingers for you.

Dufferedup
Love the name! I too am 26 weeks EDD 29th August. Also am 42, 43 in Nov.
I have 2 DC 9 and 6 from previous relationship. This little boy is my partners first. Hes more excited than me !
I'm just knackered, hungry, achy and baby boy is wriggly - all seems more extreme than my first pregnancy 10 years ago !
Like everyone juggling work FT from home and homeschooling. When is your EDD?

Sheera great your 10 year old is coping well with lockdown. I think for alot of ASD kids it removes the pressure .

Jeez I have awful baby brain.

With being on mat leave I am considering homeschooling the children till October. The main reason being when my partner goes away for work when baby is 3 weeks old I will need my mum to move in to help. Balancing out all the risks , I have had horrendous PND before and I think for me zero support and social contact& a newborn is a recipe for PND. Partner is away 3 weeks at a time so I will need to get help.

So many choices like the rest of is I didnt think I'd have to make.

I'm also pretty sure that if the pandemic had kicked off sooner , we would stop TTC so this wee baby is a blessing !

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 20/05/2020 06:41

It is an amazing scan isn't it?! @Sheera1 I'm going to get the scan out from my eldest dc who will be 19 next month and compare....because I'm pretty sure I couldn't make anything out on that!! I was saying to DH that they don't even need dim the lights at the hospital (ordinary NHS hospital - nothing special!) for the scanning.

DufferedUp · 20/05/2020 06:52

Marmalade - due date twin!

Frazzlerock · 20/05/2020 07:36

Morning all.

@Sheera1 its just so unfair you have to wait so long for Harmony results when it was all sorted. I also don't understand why your NT results are going to take so long Sad
PS. I think you have little a boy in there, the head looks boy shaped. I read that if the head is a bit less rounded at the front, it's more likely to be a boy. That's what I think for our little one too Grin

Yes @stairgates you did Smile and I believe this one is a boy too as I'm convinced I can only conceive boys. I have two living boys already and 2 out of 4 of our lost babies were tested for karyotyping and we were told they were boys too. I'm going to put my pic up in this group to see what the rest of you think.

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I think girl, based on the skull theory! I'm not good at nubs Grin

I wish I knew where my scan pics were for my 2 DS so I can compare ours.

Frazzlerock · 20/05/2020 07:37

Here is ours. If any of you are tempted to have a guess 😁

Onlyreading I missed your pic!! I was checking in on my phone last night and had 2% so only took in Sheeras nameGrin

Onlyreading, Im going to guess girl for you :):) Thats a lovely clear image!!

3isthemagicnumber3 · 20/05/2020 09:05

Hi thought I would join in, I have recently turned 40 and I am 19 weeks with my 3rd baby (all girls). The older 2 are 6 and 8. This baby was a complete surprise. Have felt sick earlier on and tired but apart from that so far all good but I have my 20 week scan next week. My NT results came back low for downs (1 in 1600) and Edwards/Patau (1 in 10,000). They didn’t mention inducing me due to age at booking in but after I enquired I was able to have a phone consultation with a consultant and I am due to be induced at 40 weeks. Baby due mid October. I don’t think they would have offered it unless I had asked, although I am due for extra scans which will check the placenta, I think every 4 weeks until term after the 20 week scan.
Frazzlerock - I had a subchronic heamatoma in my first pregnancy, I had a few really heavy bright red bleeds, it was really scary but did eventually stop, I think by around 14 weeks and the bleed was gone at the 20 week scan.
Sheera1 - good luck with your results today

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 20/05/2020 09:23

Thanks @Frazzlerock @stairgates! I really don't know about nubs so I'm not going to offer anyone a suggestion! @Frazzlerock you've really been through it and pray you get an easy time now! I'm going to look at skull theory now...!! Not even heard that one! I was convinced my last baby was a girl but he was a he so there's no way I can go by my instinct! 😂

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 20/05/2020 09:24

Some weird bold writing going on in that post....no idea!

Sheera1 · 20/05/2020 19:33

@Frazzlerock what a great scan! I am going to say boy!

@DufferedUp lol on your wee uncooperative cutie. Hope they get you a better pic next time but tbh I can never make them out anyway. Going for a wee stubborn boy guess!

@3isthemagicnumber3 hello! That is good news the 🤢 eases up. I am still touch and go. Good they are doing lots of scans.

@realladymarmalade yes he finds it so much less pressure than school. A different boy. Was his 10th bday today and we have had a great day.

@onlyreading I did that with my ds scan pic but can only find 20 weeks not the 12 week one. Still can't tell a bloody thing lol.
The NIPT people called back today and 2nd sample was no better but they are getting me in tomorrow and we are sending the sample next day delivery so they get itbkn Friday. I was going to ask to pay for a scan but they said they would do one for free so getting another wee lool in there tomorrow morning. Silver linings!

Sheera1 - u have my sympathy, my sickness was awful from 6 weeks to 14.5 weeks. Thankfully it gradually subsided from there. It was so bad that I was even waking at night to be sick and some days couldn’t keep anything down, a challenge when I was supposed to be working from home and home schooling!

Realladymarmalade · 20/05/2020 21:35

duffered up no way! Are you on the birth club chat ? I'm really terrible at mixing with other mums to be online but think I need to up my game so I have a virtual support network if not in RL. I have a closed group with my mumsnet birth club from dd and we are still firmly in contact. Is any one else using the other threads /birth clubs ?
