Hi all. I wasn't wanted to hijack any threads on hear with specific questions, but wondered if anyone fancied a chat thread for us classed as mature mums to be? Anyone who feels they fit in that box are welcome to join.

I will start. 🌞

I am 41. I have a 10 year old ds and one mmc 3 yrs ago. New partner is reason for the gap.

I was very shocked when I found out as we had assumed that ship had sailed as no joy since mmc. Head was in that camp and was quite a shock to come out of it.

I am 13 weeks based on my scan later Friday. Awaiting NIPT results hopefully today or tomorrow. Been cautious after mmc but hard to not get so attached as the weeks go by.

My first purchase if all ok will be a pregnancy pillow.

Honestly I feel massive already. I am very overweight but was with ds and had a perfect fuss free pregnancy. This time I am so 🤢 and tired and feel just ill from 4pm onwards.

Instead of it easing up, last night I was still feeling 🤢 trying to sleep and was very uncomfortable due to feeling like my womb is massive.

Anyone else feeling like this? Goodness knows how I will be weeks from now. Eeek.

Hello everyone

Happy news I have bought my new wheels yesterday ..Cossata half price down to 330 😊😊😊. I'm hoping this will kick me out of denial.

My brain cant keep up with this. A pinned list is a good idea. I am also happy to use FB too as its format is easier on the brain.

Hello to Ethellsmum and Ferrylass :)

AliasGrape · 24/05/2020 10:17

@Realladymarmalade oooh nice wheels!

We’ve ordered ours they should arrive next week. Will try and attach a picture. There was a forest green colour we both really liked but in the end I chickened out and got the black because I’m boring like that! Sort of wish we’d stuck to our guns now.

We haven’t bought anything else really - been loaned a sling from a friend and had a few bits of clothes passed on. I’ve been so reluctant to buy anything I think because I still feel like I’m tempting fate every time we do, even though there’s under 10 weeks to go now. Our house is a freaking disaster with renovations stalled mid way through because of lockdown - the flooring people have said they can come a week tomorrow though (I’ll just have to sit in the car all day with the dog or something!) - once that’s done and we can put the living room furniture back and move crap out of the bedrooms I can hopefully start thinking a bit more clearly about where the baby is going to sleep and other minor details! We only have two bedrooms and the second one is mostly taken up with DH’s desk, computer and work equipment - he used to work from home then went office based again, so we were looking forward to scaling down to maybe a small desk and a laptop at home and being able to turn second bedroom into a nursery. Now though he’s back working at home because of Covid, and no idea how long that will last, so nursery plans on hold. The main bedroom is huge and baby will be with us for first 6 months at least anyway so going to focus on getting that straight with maybe a lick of paint and I’m ordering a next to me type cot.

How is everyone doing today? Hope the sickness is easing up for people. The heartburn is awful for me at the moment but then we did have a homemade curry with onions and peppers last night so I probably deserve it! Currently sipping gaviscon like it’s water.

Definitely up for a list. I’m

Hello I am so pleased to join you. I'm 42, have a 5 year old, and I've just had my bfp. I'm also overweight, so the doctors are going to love me Grin

Also didn’t manage to attach picture of the travel system bundle thing we got. It’s an icklebubba one - that name makes me cringe! I liked it mostly because the car seat is apparently very light and can be used Isofix or not (we wanted the option) and also that it seems to fold up small enough to fit in the boot of my mini (DH keeps telling me I’ll have to get a bigger car but I love my ancient scruffy mini!)

alias omg I now have buyers remorse and want that pram! Gorgeous bit of kit ! Love the copper and black❤. Please don't tell me that it was a bargain price or I'll get buyers remorse

You are pretty much on my page with organisation...the baby's nursery is where I work from home. One side of the room is all professional...books flowers flex zoom backdrop. The other is baby bits.
My dp is frantically trying to convert build us an office in the garage, as we will keep needing office space .. I will continue to do small bit of wfh during mat leave and do need space to do that.

The list is helping my head.

Congrats to the newly pregnant!

Currently at the feeling my insides getting squashed and hungry but then quickly full /heartburn it constipated. Nice. Apart from the first 13 weeks I've been pretty greedy. When pregnant with boys I think I crave fruit and Tropicana so its not all rubbish food but plenty of that too.

MariaDingbat · 24/05/2020 10:53

Oh pram recommendations would be really welcome, I'm a FTM at 40 and have no idea! The only thing we think we definitely need is a lie flat car seat as we'll be doing regular trips over 2 hours to see family.

I like the idea of a list too.

AliasGrape · 24/05/2020 11:26

Don’t have remorse marmalade ! It wasn’t particularly cheap (although a lot less than some of the bigger name ones!). It was £600 for the bundle but that included car seat and isofix base, a travel cot, changing bag, bouncy chair and other bits. Definitely quite a lot for us at the moment, but when MIL found out we’d ordered it she said she wanted to give us the money so we’re very lucky there. She’s excited - she’d given up on grandchildren altogether as DH is 43, and he never told her we were ttc or talked to her about that side of things really even when we were under the fertility clinic (this is a clomid baby) so she assumed we weren’t planning any. His brother is a year older and his wife 39, they’ve been married over 10 years with no talk of children either. Then just after our 20 week scan BIL and his wife announced they’re expecting too - due in October, so MIL is p beside herself now Grin Fil not arsed either way as usual, he’s more interested in the dog.

@MariaDingbat - we were looking at the lie flat ones too, but decided we probably didn’t need that in the first few months. We looked at the joie I-level which I believe will work with various pram/travel systems. There’s some others reviewed here www.madeformums.com/reviews/6-best-lie-flat-car-seats-from-birth/

Hope I did that right! I am useless!

I had salt and vinegar crisps too last night. Well my partner went to get some and asked me and I said no and then ate half of his 😀.
Loving the prams. I think I will buy 2nd hand though other than the carseat unless a friend gives me one.

I wouldn't bother with the lie flat ones. Honestly they sleep fine in the rear facing infant carriers.

Where did you get the cosatto deal? That is a fab price.

Still feeling a bit odd today. My bump seems to have disappeared 🤷‍♀️or rather look like I normally do with my fat. Been really tired and a few twingy pains down low. Normally so aware of my bump. No scan due for ages 20 week one is 10th July. Wish I would stop overthinking everything!

Someone mentioned moving to a private group on facebook. I am happy to do that though think the annonomynity on here people like too.

mlctobe · 24/05/2020 18:49

Hi everyone - wondering if I can join the chat Smile - so nice to see this thread on here!

I'm 41 and just 5 weeks pregnant so due in January 2021. I have a 6 month old DS so this will be number 2!

MummyMilla · 24/05/2020 20:06

I'd like to join too! I am 39 with two DSs who are 9 & nearly 7. Had a pretty horrible MC in March so still trying to get my head straight (I'm also on the post-MC thread).

Got my BFP on Tuesday and so I think I'm due 24th Jan? I'll be 40 on 16th Jan so it could be a good 40th birthday present!

Age gap is mostly due to our youngest - he's been a handful for quite a long time and recently diagnosed autistic. We ummed and ahhed for years about whether we could/should do it but finally decided we'd regret it more if we didn't try - didn't happen for ages so reconciled it wouldn't happen, then it did. Then we lost it. So we're both cautiously excited about this one.

Frazzlerock · 24/05/2020 20:17

Evening all. Just popping my head in briefly. I see we have LOADS of new peeps here. I'm on my phone right now and struggle to keep up at the best of times. I think I'll switch my laptop on tomorrow and have a good read so I can respond properly but, for now, here's a little wave from Camp Frazzle 👋

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 24/05/2020 22:51

Hi to the new @MummyMilla & @mlctobe. Good to see you checking in @Frazzlerock! Xx

Sheera1 · 25/05/2020 00:56

Will catch up with the thread tomorrow but a quick late night post.

I swear I am feeling baby movements. Low down on the left hand side of my bump I keep feeling like a small nudge. Obvs just inter ally but it does happen when I hold or put a little pressure on my belly.

I am only 14 weeks though I am sure I felt ds at 15 weeks.

Is it possible or is it gas?

stairgates · 25/05/2020 06:49

Ive felt mine from 12 weeks before so I would say its baby Sheera :)

Welcome mummuymilla and mlctobe :)

passthemustard · 25/05/2020 11:49

Hello everyone, congrats on all of your pregnancies.

I'm 42 and currently 8+3 with baby number 5!

My other 4 are 18,15,12 and 8. It feels like such a long time since I was last pregnant.

I have so many worries now about being pregnant and possible problems with the baby and coping with a baby at my 'age'. I don't feel old but I remember the relief when my youngest went to school lol.

This baby is with my new partner after my husband passed away so I have all sorts of grief and anxiety about that, for me and for my children. They adore my new partner and get along great but they seemed somewhat underwhelmed when we told them. (My 12 year old overheard me on the phone so we had to tell them!)

I'm currently worried as I have no morning sickness and my boobs were so sore I couldn't touch them a week ago but now just feel heavy. I had a scan at 7 weeks and heartbeat was great but now I'm worried it's stopped developing!

There is so much more anxiety this time round instead of just thinking about nurseries and names!

Anyway lots of love to everyone and their bumps x

sunlight81 · 25/05/2020 13:50

Afternoon all!!

Did you all know that the chance of twins is more likely over 35? Me neither until my scan today!! Nearly fainted Shock

I will be pretty much 40 and have 3 kinds under 2 - May as well give up now!

Sheera1 · 25/05/2020 17:01

@sunlight81 oh my goodness. I did worry about twins as my symptoms were so strong. I think everyone who finds out twins will have an "oh shit" reaction.

Do you have family support and a good supportive DH?

I have a friend who had a wee girl and at her 6 week check up found out she was pregnant and with twin boys. All three were premature and I swear she is just some super mum, but we dig deep and find the energy from somewhere. She is now a single parent too but doing amazing.

Hoping this story makes you feel a little better. I would be in a faint too I think. I was with the positive test.

Sending supportive hugs. X
