@Flora20 i m sorry to hear you can't book your scan over the phone.Maybe they can let you have a cancellation.

I told the midwife when I spoke to her that I was worried about not getting the scan in time for the screening and she advised to ring the ultrasound scan team and tell them and they fit me in .

DressingGown87 · 02/04/2020 17:51

@1990shopefulftm the nurse is still doing my daily injections, don’t think I could do them, struggle touching the sharps bin in my living room or the packaging! Such a wimp! 🙈

@Lolllyf so glad your scan went went! It’s strange seeing them looking more human! I feel like I’ve got a bump, midwife and sonographer said I do, but I’m just convinced it’s cake 😂

@Flora20 I would give it a few days, but if time is passing by and your not getting an appointment, try and chase it. Especially if your wanting the screening.

1990shopefulftm · 02/04/2020 17:55

@DressingGown87 i hope someday needles get easier for you. I can't tell if I have a bump now, it don't feel so much like its all bloating though.

Mc3209 · 02/04/2020 19:24

I can't wait to get a bump (provided everything ok on the scans). I am definitely not as 'flat' as I used to be, but I am not sure whether it is bloat or a bump... Apparently it's easier to tell when you take weekly photos of the belly, but I don't want to jinx it and want to wait until the scans (don't ask me why I think taking a photo of the belly would jinx anything, it's beyond rational thought!).

@roarfeckingroar You can actually see a nub in your scan! I've been entertaining myself with nub theory gender prediction recently, no clue how accurate it is though. Are you going to find out the gender of your baby?

OP posts:
WaveStreet · 02/04/2020 19:44

@Mc3209 I can't bring myself to take any photos yet either 🙈 I know it's silly!
I don't think I have a bump either (10+1) but definitely more of a round shape.
Still waiting for a booking appt date! I chased it up last week and they said to chase again tomorrow if I still haven't heard anything.

Preggerspat · 02/04/2020 20:05

@MamaNaz20 I am so sorry for your loss 😢 and that you have to go through it when the world is in lockdown, it’s a horrible enough experience as it is, Sending you lots of love xxx

professorastrocat · 02/04/2020 20:13

Fab scan news @roarfeckingroar and what a lovely picture!

Anyone who's pregnant with their first, I remember showing a little around 15 weeks enough that people noticed who knew me, but I was mega slim. Now I'm just huge at 11+2 it's not baby it's just slack tummy and bloating!

FirstTimeBumps · 02/04/2020 21:03

@DressingGown87 I'm only 10 weeks and an old dear in Asda told me to look after my bump the other day Sad I was in maternity jeans by this point last time so I should have expected it to be honest. I've got my scan appointment booked for 15th, my letter hadn't come through and I'm impatient so I called and asked, might be worth a shot @flora20

So sorry to hear your sad news @mamanaz20 sending thought x

roarfeckingroar · 02/04/2020 21:16

@Danielle95lab My partner is taking a picture every week so I can track how I change but I'm mostly just bloated; when j was weighed today I haven't put on anything at all. Photo below.

@DressingGown87 @Mc3209 @Flora20 thank you! I'm seriously relieved about the job.

@mamavee I'm now 12 + 4.

roarfeckingroar · 02/04/2020 21:17

@Mc3209 tell me about the nub and nub theory! Where is the nub? I will find out the sex, I'm too impatient not to.

DressingGown87 · 02/04/2020 21:30

@1990shopefulftm hopefully I will gradually get there. Would feel tight getting my neighbour round every night for 9months 🙈

@FirstTimeBumps I’ve not had any congratulations yet 😂 but I’ve not seen anyone or left the house! Your scan is the day after mine!

@roarfeckingroar I’m going to find out too! Was thinking of doing a private scan at 15/16weeks because I’m impatient, and doing a lockdown gender reveal with my friends on FaceTime. 🙈 that’s if the clinic is still open, but they said I might have a nhs one at 16week, but don’t know if they will tell me the gender. You going to do the nub theory? The photo is ace! I’ve been doing weekly selfies 🙈

FirstTimeBumps · 02/04/2020 21:48

@roarfeckingroar we didn't find out with our first and my OH doesn't want to find out with this one but if I have to go to the scan by myself I can't make any promises about declining the temptation to find out haha.

Who are people telling. I'm honestly contemplating not telling anyone until after all this pandemic has blown over. Just appear like a semi-detached house like oh yeah I'm due next week, didn't I mention? Sorry must have slipped my mind. Or would that be too evil?

DressingGown87 · 02/04/2020 22:07

@firsttimebumps I’ve told close friends, work colleagues, my mum and one of my sisters. Will tell the rest of my family at 12 weeks. Think because I’m alone, isolated, and high risk, I’ve told quite a lot of people because I needed support, and for my own mental health, plus they understand the risks. I’m not making a public announcement though, like you I’m just going to appear the size of a house, and say the isolation treat cupboard and gym closures took its toll. 😂 I told a guy (tonight) I had been talking to and dated last year, He got deployed and we parted ways. But we started talking again before I found out, and thought I better fess up!

Mc3209 · 02/04/2020 22:29

@roarfeckingroar Nub is a genital tubercle. Apparently if it's parallel to the spine it's a girl, and if it sticks up at >30 degree angle it's a boy. I shamelessly borrowed the image from 'nub theory' site. Personally I would not pay money for 'nub gender prediction' but it's a fun way to entertain oneself. It's 50% chance of being right after all!

@FirstTimeBumps I've told my parents, few close friends, and all work colleagues know thanks to coronavirus. Not really planning on telling any more people to be honest.

@MamaNaz20 so so sorry to hear this, my heart breaks for you, we'll all still be here if you need us.

1990shopefulftm · 03/04/2020 08:19

@DressingGown87 you ll get there :)

I m hoping if our 20 week scans have to be alone I can convince the sonographer to write the gender down on a piece of paper so we can still find out together.
I hope they talk me through what they re doing on the 12 week one,I always find tests better that way when I have to do them alone, silence would make me nervous.

roarfeckingroar · 03/04/2020 08:37

@DressingGown87 @FirstTimeBumps I spent hours trawling old wives tales and reading about nub theory and I can say for certain I've no idea. I have a feeling it's a girl though, always have.

Midwife appointment this morning, first one.

roarfeckingroar · 03/04/2020 08:38

DP isn't sure about finding out the sex so I'll probably find out and not tell him until he cracks!

roarfeckingroar · 03/04/2020 08:39

@1990shopefulftm the doctor talked through it with me yesterday, in particular measuring the back of the neck. If you ask I'm sure they will.

Mc3209 · 03/04/2020 08:51

@roarfeckingroar looks like a girl to me ☺️

@1990shopefulftm Just mention it to whomever will be doing your scan, they will gladly talk you through it. Some people prefer the running commentary and others don't want to know unless necessary. I can guarantee your antenatal team is well versed in doing both ☺️

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 03/04/2020 08:55

@roarfeckingroar @Mc3209 I ll definitely ask them to talk them through it.

FirstTimeBumps · 03/04/2020 09:02

@roarfeckingroar are you attending or is it telephone appointment?

Flora20 · 03/04/2020 09:04

I decided last night I was actually getting a bump rather than just fat - it felt quite firm at the top and looked quite 'bumpy'... This morning I just look fat again! Definitely bigger than I was first time round though, probably because I'm not running around at work this time. I think I was about 17/18 weeks before I had any noticeable bump last time.
