@Danielle95lab yay! I'll probably find out I'm actually a few days short of my due date at my 20 week scan at this rate. Glad you're feeling good after your scan.

KitKatKit · 04/04/2020 18:03

@roarfeckingroar haha you have to stay here! You're one of the OG's 😜

How has everyone's Saturday been? After a crappy few days of headaches and nausea, today's been much better and I've managed to do some spring cleaning. Definitely slob out time on the sofa now!

roarfeckingroar · 04/04/2020 18:05

@KitKatKit I went out for a long walk then sunbathed for a bit. Now working through the penguin book of 5,000 baby names. I'm ticking boys names I like first and dp is ticking girls then we swap and do the other and see which match up. He may end up in the Thames if his choices are too dull.

DressingGown87 · 04/04/2020 18:17

I’m 11+1 today so due on the 23rd October. Think it’s a day out given by early scans, but it’s scarily approaching 12weeks! My scan is on the 14th (My mums birthday).

@roarfeckingroar Yes thank you! Only ventured Round the garden today, and feeling a bit better if not sore! Of course you’ve got to stay! Like PP said you’ve been here since day dot! Suppose I’m lucky in some ways, that I don’t have a partner to disagree with names. 🙈

1990shopefulftm · 04/04/2020 18:24

we'd already decided on names before we knew I was pregnant, I just had to convince him on baby having a middle name.

roarfeckingroar · 04/04/2020 18:57

@DressingGown87 there are many bonuses to not having a partner, this being just one!!!

Bex199205 · 04/04/2020 19:07

Hello Ladies,
I hope you are all well and dont mind me joining you! I'm having my 12 week scan on Tuesday and my dates work out as being due on 20th October. Really nervous for the scan and hoping everything is ok! Was told back in November that I wouldn't be able to have children without help due to severe PCOS so this has all come as a shock.. a good one though!! X

LadyB90 · 04/04/2020 19:10

@Bex199205 welcome!

Hi all!

Is anyone else struggling with sickness? Mine isn't letting up and seems to be getting worse rather than better. Hoping it will settle down soon.

Flora20 · 04/04/2020 19:20

@Bex199205 Welcome and congratulations!

@roarfeckingroar names are so hard... Or at least boys ones are! We had quite a long list of girl ones that we loved last time but didn't really have any for boys that we liked. Fortunately she was a she but I've got a feeling this one might be a boy so really going to have to try harder 😂

Bex199205 · 04/04/2020 19:21

@LadyB90 thank you 😊

I'm the same I'm nearly 12 weeks and it's getting alot worse. Isnt just in the morning either it's all day. I also have the feeling on a hair ball or cotton wall in my throat all the time which makes me heave. Thank goodness I'm inside most of the time as its gross! Anyone got any tips? Ginger biscuits doesnt work for me ☹ xx

LadyB90 · 04/04/2020 19:25

@Bex199205
Ah sorry to hear you are also feeling rough! Nothing I've tried has worked for me. Haven't been able to keep anything down today not even water!

WaveStreet · 04/04/2020 19:49

Welcome @Bex199205x!

Sorry to hear you both aren't feeling well, hoping it soon passes for you. I found ginger tea with lemon and manuka honey (takes the edge off the ginger) or plain crackers helped me a little with nausea but I've had a lot of aversions so sometimes it's hard to fancy these things.

I feel like it's still early for me thinking about names but on the other hand it if we find a list we like now that we still like when baby arrives it'll be reassuring we're choosing right.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 04/04/2020 21:38

@Bex199205 Welcome & Congratulations!

AdventureAhead · 04/04/2020 22:49

Welcome @Bex199205 and sorry to hear that you're feeling rough :( I don't have any tips for you i'm afraid as I've been very lucky to largely escape nausea but I have been so tired this past week. I fell asleep on my laptop mid afternoon last week, woke up 3 minutes before a teleconference call! I guess it would have been worse if i was still working in the office, it's a bit eaisee to hide it at home (And to squeeze in a lunchtime nap). Starting to feel a bit less tired now and like I have a bit more energy.
I've got 2 weeks to wait for my 12 week scan (by which time I'll be 12+6 I think) which still seems an age away. They are currently still letting partners attend here and i really really hope that doesn't change in the next fortnight. We didn't have a private scan and this is our first baby so I'd love DH to be able to join me at the scan and see baby.
@roarfeckingroar I agree with everyone else, you have to stay! It's been lovely following your journey and you've had so much happy news to share over the last few weeks. Don't go!

AdventureAhead · 04/04/2020 22:51

@roarfeckingroar Would you recommend the Penguin book of baby names? I would like to buy a name book but got a bit bamboozled by the amount of choice.

I'd also like to buy one or two pregnancy books, maybe "what to expect when you're expecting" Has anyone got it and can tell me if they like it? Any other recommendations?

Flora20 · 05/04/2020 08:11

@AdventureAhead I liked the first time parent book by Lucy Atkins, really not a fan of what to expect as it's so Americanised.

DressingGown87 · 05/04/2020 09:34

@Bex199205 welcome and HUGE congratulations! Don’t worry I didn’t think I could either, so still think I’m in some sort of weird dream, especially with everything else going on.

@LadyB90 sorry can’t help you with the sickness. But hope your both feeling better.

@Flora20 I’ve heard that book is good (first time parent) it’s in my amazon basket. Waiting for my 12 week scan, and then I think I will order it, and possibly a name book. Although I’ve pretty much got a girls name in my head which I’m set on, just no boys.

@AdventureAhead falling asleep on the laptop, is a cracker, and made me chuckle! But at least your getting lots of rest, being home. Ours scans must be in the same week.

Danielle95lab · 05/04/2020 10:57

Morning ladies! Has anyone experienced thrush within their pregnancy or previous pregnancies? I'm going to ring the doctors tomorrow when they're open again but I'm paranoid of treating it with anything incase it does anything to the baby😂 probably wouldn't be as nervous if it still wasn't the first trimester xxx

roarfeckingroar · 05/04/2020 11:12

@AdventureAhead I'm not sure if I would recommend it. I've only looked through boys' names so far and it's fun but many are a bit archaic (Athelstan anyone?) as well as classics, and depending on your tastes it lacks many modern staples as well rather than just ignoring ridiculous out there modern names. It was fun and only a couple of quid though so why not.

I also have what to expect when you're expecting... I've read the first few sections. The first wasn't so useful as it's about conception and the second concentrates on debunking the blanket advice given to pregnant women that if we eat anything on the banned list or drink more than 5ml of wine we will give our babies life long problems. I'm going to stick with it.

Everyone who is tired - and falling asleep on keyboards - I absolutely feel you. The past two weeks I have barely made it to 9pm but at 13 weeks today I'm starting to feel a bit more energised!

professorastrocat · 05/04/2020 11:53

Hi all, I struggle to keep up with this thread!!
😀
Welcome @Bex199205 we have the same due date at the moment :)

Feel for anyone feeling sick /being sick, I have been like this since week 5 so coming up to 7 weeks of it. The worst for me was weeks 9 and 10, I feel like I may have moved on slightly for the better in the last few days. Only things that helped me were ginger biscuits, lots of water and lots of rest. The latter not always being possible!

Books wise I recommended 'The positive birth book' and 'Babycalm'.

Who has their scan this week coming up?

Bex199205 · 05/04/2020 13:34

Thank you everyone 😊
Dont want to jinx it but I've got the most energy in ages and I dont feel sick! Pllleeease let this be a turning point.

@professorastrocat that's exciting. How are you feeling? I've got my scan on Tuesday. When is yours?

I'd recommend the bump to birthday journal we have loved filling it in every week 😍

Flora20 · 05/04/2020 14:08

@Danielle95lab I think you can use the cream but not the tablet? To soothe it my doctor actually recommended natural yoghurt - bit weird but it works 😂

Danielle95lab · 05/04/2020 14:19

@Flora20 thank you! Yeah I've heard the natural yoghurt works I'm going to try it. Desperate times and all that 😂

LadyB90 · 06/04/2020 10:18

Hi everyone Smile

So when is everyones 12 week scan dates? Can't wait to hear how everyone gets on and see all the pics! Mines the 16th of April and I'll be 12+2 (I think!).

Danielle95lab · 06/04/2020 10:37

@LadyB90 mines the 15th I'll be 12 weeks exactly! Least we can say it's only next week now 🙌🏻xxx
