@OddshoesOddsocks how are you gwtting on?.was it your waters ?.

AppropriateAdult · 26/04/2020 20:37

Can I join you all? 39 weeks tomorrow with #3, more than ready for it to be over by now! Lots of Braxton Hicks here but not much else so far. My other two both came after 41 weeks so trying not to get my hopes up for a more punctual baby this time...

OddshoesOddsocks · 26/04/2020 21:39

Hi everyone!

Dd3 was born today just before 1pm, 7lb 5oz. The midwife made it here with about 5 mins to spare and i managed to get some gas and air for the important bit thank goodness!

Her sisters are completely smitten and are fighting over who gets to hold her. She took to feeding really well and is currently sleeping on me while her daddy has a nap (he’s had a tiring day, bless him 😜) . She’s a dream!

Congrats @nicciw87!!

Hope you had a nice relaxing day @KHall84 ready for what’s hopefully a productive day tomorrow!!

OddshoesOddsocks · 26/04/2020 21:40

Hi @AppropriateAdult! Fingers crossed for you for this last bit! I hope #3 doesn’t keep you waiting too long!

KHall84 · 26/04/2020 21:52

OddshoesOddsocks · 26/04/2020 22:38

@KHall84 thank you! Best of luck for tomorrow, hopefully the twinges mean that the sweep will be the final straw! Flowers

Maggie90 · 27/04/2020 14:52

Oh wow @nicciw87 massive congratulations! That’s so lovely you got to stay at home,

hope you are all doing well. Let the sleepless nights due to smitten staring begin ha.

I had to ask my daughter if I could hold mine in the first few days!

Maggie90 · 27/04/2020 14:53

KHall84 · 27/04/2020 14:58

@maggie90 yes they are all coming at once I have started having contractions today at 11:30am am 3cm dilated midwife has said she did me a 2nd sweep as well so hopefully in the next 24 to 48hrs our boy will be here xx

nicciw87 · 27/04/2020 15:30

Congratulations @OddshoesOddsocks that was quick. @KHall84 hopefully that means you will have your little one very soon.
Just the labour story for anyone wanting it number 4 wasn't as quick for me as I thought. Contractions started about 12 in the day not sore so thought it was false labour again after dinner about 6 they ramped up to being painful so started timing about 7 coming every 3 mins and painful then about half 8 slowed to every 5mins so thought they were stopping again but still painful. About 10 put the other kids to mums just incase and went into assessment unit about half 11 just to get checked was only 3cm but still contracting every 5mins so made sure I squatted through everyone so they wouldn't stop. Assessment unit admitted me because of previous fast labour's so yeh gas and air for me. 4am came was really sore so asked for diamorphine so was taken down to delivery suite about half 4 and partner phoned to come in got diamorphine about 5 waters then went about half 5 and started to need to push about half 6 and he was born at 6.50 am at a big 8lb 7oz. Not stitches needed and got home the same day at 3pm

Beanie1981 · 27/04/2020 16:24

Hello everyone - just catching up! Our little girl was born on Friday afternoon after 3 pessary inductions and then a very fast labour on the drip! 1hr 14mins with 14mins of active labour! Had the diamorphine which completely wiped me out and made me have an out of body experience - felt like I was drugged between contractions! As I was by myself the midwives were amazing and baby Abigail was born. Manual breaking of waters did not go well, as they had to go in twice as the waters weren't there!!!! All fun and games. Glad to see there has been a spate of births over the weekend! x

OddshoesOddsocks · 27/04/2020 16:28

Thanks @nicciw87 and @Maggie90!

@KHall84 any movement? Sounds promising!

KHall84 · 27/04/2020 19:58

@OddshoesOddsocks hi x I am 5cm dilated and we have just come to the midwife unit but coming with no pain relief so far just tens which is better than my last labour so far x

Totters123 · 27/04/2020 22:10

Just a quick update - we had our baby girl on 26th April, all the staff were amazing and despite having a very stop and start labour throughout we got there in the end! We had a two night stay on the post natal ward, my number 1 bit of advice for anyone giving birth during these COVID times is to bring as many snacks and home comforts as possible to your birth. My pillow from home was a lifesaver, but I ran out of all my snacks and as no one could bring me any I did get really hungry and cranky after a very long labour. Wishing you all all of the best with it, home now - happy if not a bit terrified!

nicciw87 · 27/04/2020 22:33

@Totters123 @OddshoesOddsocks is that the 3 of us then that went on the 26th?

Totters123 · 27/04/2020 22:55

Seems like it - and congratulations!! How are you doing??

nicciw87 · 27/04/2020 23:02

Congratulations @Beanie1981 and @Totters123 I'm good thanks just tired been a long week bedtime soon hope this little man sleeps OK how are you doing?

OddshoesOddsocks · 28/04/2020 07:20

Oh @KHall84 I’m so relieved to read that! Hope it’s all going well, update when you’re up to it, good luck!!

Congratulations @Totters123! Great advice!
Yes it looks like 26th was a busy day @nicciw87!

Congrats @Beanie1981, sounds fabulous! I REALLY made the most of the gas and air while I was having my stitches- wish I could feel like that all the time, I was like the happiest drunk ever!!

AppropriateAdult · 28/04/2020 08:42

So many babies! Congrats everyone Flowers Nothing happening here, have bad SPD so am dying for it all to be over at this stage.

Beanie1981 · 28/04/2020 13:22

@nicciw87 @Totters123 @OddshoesOddsocks congratulations - it was a very busy weekend!!!
I'm running the gauntlet that is breastfeeding and swollen boobs! Was feeling quite smug as she slept through most of the night and then last night she refused to sleep till 5.30am when she finally decided to sleep till 11am! Typical!
@KHall84 where are you up to? I found the TENS quite good but the diamorphine was absolutely killer and knocked me out last night and I felt all over the place and NOT in a good way! I am so overwhelmed with how lovely my midwives were, I really want to go in and say thank you properly but it's just not an option.

nicciw87 · 28/04/2020 17:18

@Beanie1981 I feel the same midwives really are second to none couldn't thank then enough the support was amazing. Diamophine was great for me for about an hour then after birth I was violently sick because of it had to have an antisickness injection and all. Midwives and partner were in stitches at me with what shite I was coming out with on the drugs lol

OddshoesOddsocks · 28/04/2020 18:12

@Beanie1981 mines got me in a right false sense of security here, she’s taken to feeding so well (both her sisters were an utter nightmare) and she’s not done too badly with sleeping... I need to remember that it’s only day 3 and it doesn’t last!! My milk is just starting to come in- I forgot what full boobs felt like! Dp was sent out on a mission for nipple cream and stool softener... exciting evening ahead Grin

Does anyone else have a baby with no name?? We had a shortlist of 2 prebirth and she doesn’t suit either of them! We’ve got 4 now but I don’t know if any of them are THE name!

nicciw87 · 28/04/2020 22:30

@OddshoesOddsocks same boat here no idea on a name had a few before he was born and doesn't look like any of them now

OddshoesOddsocks · 28/04/2020 23:19

@nicciw87 glad it’s not just us! I don’t know if I’m swaying back towards her original name now! Dp seems set on one of the new names and has been trying it out this eve but the more he says it the more I go off it! The poor things will never have names at this rate!

Beanie1981 · 28/04/2020 23:36

Haha! Yes in had the same problem with names. We had one on the shortlist and when I was on the ward after delivery I kept hearing them ask for a nurse by that name so I saw it as a sign. We now have baby Abigail. Trying to breastfeed and bottle half and half so hubbie can be involved and so we can have her settled. So nice to be at home spend time with her but petrified about taking her out. I've started watching Life and Birth on BBC and it's just making me feel better I didn't watch before Friday!
