Hello,

Starting a new penguin huddle for those of us who've graduated from the conception boards.

As I said in the old TTC thread, getting a BFP after pregnancy loss is not necessarily a happy time so this is a safe place to vent, worry and share news (good, hopefully, or bad).

I hope you are all here for the long-haul. But you are welcome no matter how briefly.
Others who are pregnant after loss but who weren't on the original thread are of course welcome too.

My stats:
TTC since Dec 2017
Age: 31
TTC no.1
1 MMC and 3 early losses between 4-5 weeks (or, CPs, but I hate that term) all happened last year within the space of 10 months.
Currently 6+1 with 5th pregnancy

@InDreamland @moonpeace @Bluebelltulip @hayleyfx @Laney79 Please add others I may have forgotten!

Had my dating scan this morning, baby is measuring 12+3 and is looking healthy! Just such a relief. I was freaking out about how the head looked but she said so far all looks great. We have a very wriggly baby 🥰 I’m so in love ❣️

Yeah, that's the site I was using @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue. I think I'll start thinking now about what I need to buy but probably won't actually buy anything until after the 20 week scan.

Congratulations @Ginmonkey84! Pregnancy after miscarriage is an anxious time but this is a great group for support and understanding what you're going through. Fingers crossed this one sticks for you!

Have a great holiday @KnitKitty!

Congratulations on your dating scan @hayleyfx! Such a nice photo too!

I also found out yesterday I have an anterior placenta so it'll likely be longer til I can feel him move, although I think I might have a couple of times but it was probably all in my head haha.

coconutlatte44 · 12/07/2019 12:24

Congratulations @hayleyfx!!

I'm waiting for mine now and the anxiety has just kicked in properly. 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬

Yukka · 12/07/2019 14:14

Congrats @hayleyfx great to see!! Wriggly babies are so hard to scan especially for side profile, really chuffed for you x

@coconutlatte44 good luck! X

coconutlatte44 · 12/07/2019 15:09

Thanks! All looking good here - what a relief. 😭 So emotional! It looks like a proper baby now.

Only issue is it wouldn't cooperate and get in the right position for the measurements - so I had to leave and come back twice! Finally coaxed it into the right position with some sparkling water and chocolate.

Plus side is we got a whole lot of time to watch baby moving around, I was in awe the entire time - I didn't expect it to be so active and baby-like.

Beaglemum93 · 12/07/2019 15:27

Congratulations @coconutlatte44! It's crazy how quickly they go from a blob to a tiny baby!

Amanda81 · 12/07/2019 15:29

Congratulations @Ginmonkey84 - I also got pregnant straight after MC. Good luck with holding out on the scan and enjoy your hols

Wow a boy @Beaglemum93 - congratulations. I also found out at a scan last week that my placenta is anterior. The sonographer said that it will continue to grow and adjust in movement until the 29 week scan. I hope this is true. Is this your first?

Enjoy your jollies @KnitKitty

I feel your need @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue - I am also very keen to get another scan...but can't as I'm over in cyprus for a couple of weeks. So going to have to stick it out. Eek!

Lovely scan photo @hayleyfx

Great news that the scan went well @coconutlatte44

Amanda81 · 12/07/2019 15:34

I'm 16 weeks today and relaxing on holiday for a couple of weeks. It does feel strange being in holiday whilst pregnant...I find myself prodding my belly a lot to see if is harder or has changed. I guess that's what you do when there ain't much else to do. When I say relaxing, I am trying very hard to keep the positive pants on, but yesterday I let the negativity creep in and went to sleep feeling a little glum. But woke up in better spirits today.

I mentioned in my previous post that before I came away I found out I have an anterior placenta. This is also my first baby (🤞🏻). Does anybody have any experience of this and when might I expect to feel anything. Obviously this will be the next thing for me to worry about (which is silly), but just so keen to feel her move. I guess it could be as late as 22/23 weeks. Which seems like a life time away.

rubyroot · 12/07/2019 15:47

Hey. I think it's different for everyone to be honest. I've heard of people not feeling anything until 20-22 weeks because of anterior placenta.

However, I could feel movements earlier. From what I hear I was a pretty rare case as most women with anterior feel movements later x

Beaglemum93 · 12/07/2019 15:50

This is my first too @Amanda81 and I'm only 5 days ahead of you! Hope you're enjoying your holiday.

sadtoday21 · 12/07/2019 15:59

Hi ladies! Can I join you on here? Lovely to see @Amanda81 and @Ginmonkey84 on here from our other thread. I'm so glad we are all on this journey together Xxx.

I am trying to conceive my first child, age 31. MMC in February at 12 week scan that I learned later was a partial molar pregnancy, had a d&c, then a chemical pregnancy the following cycle, three months of monitoring with CX and then on to TTC again. Now 4 weeks 6 days pregnant and totally terrified!! I have a scan booked for 7 weeks because of the previous partial molar, but right now just trying to get through the days as best I can. Any advice on coping with the anxiety of it all?

sadtoday21 · 12/07/2019 16:12

@hayleyfx that's a beautiful scan - congrats! I had no idea they were so big at 12 weeks!! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

sadtoday21 · 12/07/2019 16:17

Sorry I haven't had a chance to catch up on the whole thread - but reading back a little - amazing scan photo @Amanda81!! So happy for you, you really deserve it after all you have been through Xxx.

Amanda81 · 12/07/2019 19:18

Lovely to see you on here @sadtoday21 - I'm looking forward to seeing your first scan photo and hearing all of your updates xxx

Zznorth · 12/07/2019 19:26

@Pancakesandwaffles welcome! What did you decide to do about an early scan? I wanted a 6 week one but my GP persuaded me to wait until 7-8 weeks as they can see a lot more and a heartbeat at that stage is much more reassuring statistically.

@Beaglemum93 congrats on your scan too! Did you have any idea that it was a boy? I keep saying he instinctively about my baby but maybe that's just the patriarchy...

@coconutlatte44 did you say you had a scan today as well? Hope it went well x

@Ginmonkey84 congrats and sorry for your loss. It's so tricky with the early scans because I don't think you'll feel any reassurance until you get past the point that you lost your last baby and then you'll still be worried.

@KnitKitty hope you have a lovely holiday, I'm also off for a week today - yay!

Although it was my last day at work before holiday I had a pretty terrible day. Got some backache and period like pains that just felt like my first miscarriage, I didn't have any bleeding but once that thought entered my head all of my previous positivity went away and I went into meltdown. I had a scan at the EPU a week ago which was fine so when I called the EPU today they were just like "erm yeah take some paracetamol, don't come in" so then I called the Tommy's midwife and had a sob on the phone. She was lovely, would highly recommend to anyone else needing some advice or a friendly ear.

Anyway, we ended up caving and getting a private scan. Baby all fine, grown almost 1cm since last week! Measuring 8w4d now which is a day ahead of schedule. Now I'm hoping I'll be able to relax a bit more on holiday but we'll see.

Has anyone else found that the early scans aren't as reassuring as you'd expected?

Amanda81 · 12/07/2019 19:30

Totally @Zznorth - I found that the scans give me up to 4 days relief and then it's back to the what ifs...I didn't really find my groove of staying mostly positive until I had passed the 13 week mark. Congratulations on the positive scan, at least now you can relax for your holiday and enjoy a bit of down time. The stress of it all is quite taxing, especially when each day feels like a week!

coconutlatte44 · 12/07/2019 19:43

Hi @Zznorth I did indeed, here's our lovely little one chilling out 🥰🥰🥰

Measuring 12+2 which was a win for me as am 12+4 from LMP and last scan was measuring 6 days behind LMP so pleased that I'm back within a couple of days of it!

Ginmonkey84 · 12/07/2019 19:51

Thanks ladies yes I’m going to try my hardest to wait it out until the 5th August and then consider going up that week. Your absolutely right @Zznorth it won’t reassure me it will just make everything more real and until I’m passed that point I don’t think it would be a good idea. I will always worry. But right now I’m enjoying the fact I’m pregnant and I totally feel pregnant this time round. I feel way less anxious this time. I was so sure it wasn’t going to work last time..... I don’t even know if you can even possibly instinctively know? But anyway I’m enjoying it for what it is. To do this again is a miracle in itself I never thought I’d see those lines again. And I’m going to put as much faith into it as much as I possibly can muster up. It’s only 3 weeks I need to keep telling myself that x

Ginmonkey84 · 12/07/2019 19:59

@zznorth so glad your scan went well. It’s so hard to try and stop those thoughts. I absolutely hate the cramping that comes with first tri. With miscarriage I think it’s so hard to go through the next pregnancy and feel any reassurance until you get past the mental stage you’ve set in your head. But everything it’s going great 1cm in a week is awesome! x

@coconutlatte44 your scan is absolutely amazing!

Bluebelltulip · 12/07/2019 20:05

Congratulations @hayleyfx and @Coconutlatte44.

I had an anterior placenta with DD1 and did feel movements around 18 weeks but it was at the sides and infrequent. DD2's wasn't anterior and the difference in movement was massive. They didn't say at my 12 week scan where it is this time and I have felt some movements but mainly at the side, I'll ask at my next one.

sadtoday21 · 12/07/2019 20:21

Thanks @Amanda81 I hope I have some to share! I'm too nervous to even think that far ahead yet. Just trying to take it one day at a time.

@coconutlatte44 what a beautiful scan photo, congrats! It must feel like such a relief to have made it to 12 weeks.

@Ginmonkey84 I know exactly how you feel - I never thought I would see those lines again and its so amazing and terrifying at the same time. I hope you are able to have a nice vacation and enjoy it. Did you say you are going to be five weeks on Sunday? I think we might be around the same and would be great to go through the milestones together! Wishing you all the best Xxx

coconutlatte44 · 12/07/2019 20:35

Thanks everyone, got such a good pic bc I was scanned for a good 30-45 minutes in total to try to get the right position so she had lots of shots to choose from!

@sadtoday21 I lurked on the mmc thread for a bit as my first pregnancy was a mmc but I was a bit behind you guys so didn't participate much - but really glad you've ended up here after the last few months!

coconutlatte44 · 12/07/2019 20:40

Also for what it's worth for those struggling through the early weeks and worrying about symptoms/lack of, I had pink spotting at 6w and then 4 or 5 days of brown spotting/discharge at 8w, have had cramps off and on and had only about 2 weeks of manageable nausea (although still feel gross after eating). Just a reminder that these things aren't necessarily the end of everything.
