Hello ladies,

Early days, due my period today and had a BFP since DPO11. It is progressing and my period hasn't arrived so I'm hoping this is a sticky baby! Anyone else recently this week got their BFP? Be nice to have a little group going x

I think I may be starting to show already!! Is this possible! I’m only 10+4! X

purplefig · 18/07/2019 09:53

@hazandduck I think I've got a slight bump too. I suppose if you think about it the uterus has already had to expand and if you're short in the torso it's probably going to be more noticeable early on. That's my reasoning anyway. Nothing to do with all the pies and potatoes I'm eating. Nope!

@Quirkyquichie oh wow you're going to be tired! Pro tip: nobody told me at mine, but you're supposed to bring a urine sample with you. Might be worth doing before the night shift sleepiness takes over!

@ImMeantToBeWorking oh I'm so with you on the veg front. I miss it so much but I just cannot! Luckily lots of people say the aversion goes in the second trimester, so I'm holding out for that!

@shoegalj glad to hear you're feeling better. Why are you worried about your step kids? How old are they? Babies are pretty cute, I'm sure they'll come around to the idea in time.

How's everyone doing today? I'm 10 weeks and I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere! Had my booking appointment last Friday and now waiting for my scan appointment letter to come through - I hope it's soon...I'm so excited!

hazandduck · 18/07/2019 10:01

My bump was absolutely huge with my DD at the end...like a massive basketball up my top. Looks like it’s gonna be the same again then ha! I didn’t show this early with her I don’t think although I do vaguely remember doing the hair band trick on my jeans from about this stage so maybe I did! I don’t feel ready to have to start being clever with what I wear to hide it!

ImMeantToBeWorking · 18/07/2019 10:20

I am so tired all the time, luckily for me DP is now working close to home (we have lived together 2.5years and one of us was always away monday to thursday nights with work. Finally that is no more!!) and he can bring the dog out in the evenings and I can relax after dinner, I don't know myself!!

@purplefig it is horrible isn't it. The only veg I seem to manage is leeks (cooked in loads of butter of course) and potatoes. At least I am managing fruit!! I think I might make veg soup at the weekend. If I can't eat it DP will anyway!!

I still have heard nothing from the hospital re booking or scan or anything. I tried to contact them this week but no answer. I am getting so impatient. I am 9+5 currently and I need to know to get time off work as I am not ready to tell them it is pregnancy related yet.

Dweebette · 18/07/2019 10:32

@ImMeantToBeWorking me too on the veg! Currently have aversions to all meat, veg, coffee and tea, really struggling to eat.

@purplefig you sound so positive, that's great! Hope I'm the same when I hit 10 weeks next week. I'm 9+2 and currently in hell. Been pretty sick this week and actually throwing up now which is just delightful. Also having a lot of cramping and not sleeping well so I'm pretty miserable.

purplefig · 18/07/2019 12:25

@hazandduck it's pretty common to show earlier if you've already had a baby. Time to crack the hairbands out! I've actually put on a pair of my generously sized M&S jeans and they are feeling tiiiiiiight. Only 10 weeks and this is my first Blush

@ImMeantToBeWorking Ahh that must feel like a lovely change for you and DH. At least you've got leek and fruit! I made the mistake of trying a potato and leek soup around week 7 and it's the only time so far I thought I was probably going to vomit. Can't look at leeks now! You're supposed to have your booking appointment between week 8 and week 10 - so it's pretty poor they haven't been in contact with you yet. Can you google the number for the midwife unit at the hospital and contact them direct? I had to do that, as it turns out my GP hadn't passed my booking form on. I'd definitely be hassling them, as there are certain tests that are supposed to be done ideally before 10 weeks.

@Dweebette I'm not so sure I'd be feeling as bright if I was throwing up though. Go easy on yourself, that's a really tough symptom to deal with. Especially when you chuck in cramping and poor sleep. At least the 2nd trimester is in sight and hopefully that'll be better.

Dweebette · 18/07/2019 12:33

@purplefig I've decided to cut myself some slack today and rest a bit. Making my way through a large bag of mints as that seems to be settling the nausea a bit. My clothes are so tight already but I haven't gained any weight so it must just be bloating. Ordered a body pillow in amazon prime day as well (I am super cautious about buying anything pregnancy or baby related so early but I'm getting such a sore back that I figured it was time). Don't have my booking in appointment until same day as my scan, feels like so far away and really hoping I won't feel this grim until then!! But it'll all be worth it in the end I'm sure, I'm pretty excited in spite of it all 😁

hazandduck · 18/07/2019 12:49

Oh you poor things with such bad sickness and aversions :( I’ve not really had aversions this time, but I have felt pretty constantly nauseous but only on certain days! It’s so weird. Some days fine and others constantly queasy. I had nothing like this with DD so it’s a shock. And makes me definitely not want to do this again ha!
I’ve not gained any weight yet but my boobs feel massive and my stomach is definitely sticking out a bit. I gained 2 stone in my last pregnancy and still have a half stone leftover from that...whoops lol. I was probably a little underweight when I fell pregnant with my daughter due to a severe bout of tonsillitis though so I guess I had that half stone to gain...that’s my excuse any way 😬😂

Dweebette · 18/07/2019 13:21

@hazandduck for sure that half stone belongs on you, don't even worry about it! I am very conscious of weight gain as I used to be quite overweight and it has taken a lot of work to get to a healthy size so I'm trying to be careful. Today the last thing I want is to eat so no danger of overeating today! Just wish the nausea would pass for enough time to let me eat some lunch so I don't feel worse later 😭 how old is your DD? I just keep imagining how much harder this would be if I had a DC to look after at the same time, make respect for all you second / third time mums!

Dweebette · 18/07/2019 13:21

That should have said "major respect"

lovesT · 18/07/2019 14:48

Glad to see I'm not the only one not enjoying vegetables at the moment! Meat has been a no go for weeks but I can't bring myself to eat vegetables which I usually enjoy! Everything tastes too strong and I'm only happy eating things like baked beans 😂 my husband and I have started to wonder if I'm getting a tiny bump .. I haven't put on any weight but seem to have a little bump already, definitely feels too early!

Scan in a couple of weeks 😊

hazandduck · 18/07/2019 16:54

@Dweebette haha thank you I’ll enjoy my extra half stone in that case! She is 20 months old. So she will be 2 and a bit when the second comes along. And I keep panicking thinking how on earth will I cope! But I’ve got lots of friends who’ve all got little ones we meet up weekly for lots of tea, cake, support and the kids just run riot together (I’ve just got home from one such date.) They keep me sane lol. As it is your first I would honestly highly recommend going to baby groups, they were so good for me to have something to get out of the house for in the first six months or so and just talk to other adults. Urgh I bet it must be awful, I love veg but I find myself keep eating biscuits...not sure how that keeps happening! Blush Xx

Dweebette · 19/07/2019 08:42

@hazandduck yeah I'm looking forward to joining some baby groups. I don't have any family close by and only a handful of friends (we're fairly new to the area) so I'm hoping it'll help me meet some people and build a better support network. I'm sure you'll have your hands full with two but it'll be so lovely to watch them grow together I'm sure.

I'm feeling really emotional today. Really sick again and feeling quite useless as I wasn't up to going into work after a sleepless night (I have a lot of hip and back pain). So currently sat on the sofa blubbing 😔

Marleym28 · 19/07/2019 11:02

Just checking in as it's been a while. So my clothes don't do up, I have a small bloaty bump and I've put on3.5 kg 😵
I've been eating like a pig as it's the only thing that would stop me from feeling sick!
I've started to feel a bit better this week so hoping this is a turning point and can start being more sensible with food. (All I could recently stomach was chips, bread, rice)

Ive had my booking app & just waiting for my scan date. In my notes they put between 27-16 aug. Seems quite a wide window? Hopefully it's end of this month as I really don't think I can hide it much longer!!

purplefig · 19/07/2019 11:09

@hazandduck I'm with you on the massive boobs! I went and tried on some dresses yesterday and in a size bigger than normal and they barely fit over my chest hahaa. I don't have any local mum friends, so I'll definitely have to join some baby groups. What are they like!?

@lovesT yes baked beans et al are life at the moment!! Though yesterday was the first day I didn't really radically disgusted by veg, and I managed a veg chilli which felt soo good. Whens your scan? Mine came through yesterday for end of July - cannot wait to see him/her again!

@Dweebette just try and ride the emotions while remembering that hormones have a lot to do with it. Is there an activity you could do that you enjoy and would take your mind off of things? I find a good book an excellent salve in these kind of situations. Big hugs. Tomorrow is a new day!

purplefig · 19/07/2019 11:11

@Marleym28 how many weeks are you? I'm now 10+1 and I reckon (hope I'm not jinxing!) I might be turning a corner too. Woo hoo for us! Sorry to hear you're clothes aren't fitting - could you grab a pair of maternity jeans or get some stretchier trousers/skirts to wear? That does seem a big window - but I guess it depends on the hospitals schedule.

Cupcakes1234 · 19/07/2019 13:37

I'm 8 weeks and 2 today with my second and definitely showing. Had 2 people at work last night ask me politely lol 🙈 definitely can't hide it for much longer.

tisonlymeagain · 19/07/2019 14:26

11+2 ish now and have turned a corner! Still feeling a bit sick at times but nowhere near what it was like, can actually eat normally again. Still got lots of food aversions though and can't drink hot drinks, fresh bread in the bakery makes me want to yack but anything spicy is good.

Waiting on my NIPT results - they said 7-10 working days. Lab would have received them on Tuesday and they don't send results out over the weekend so I expect it will be the end of next week at the earliest. It's driving me crazy but I just want them before my NHS scan on 30th

syousaf · 19/07/2019 14:59

Hi all, I’m pregnant with my third child - a complete surprise as my other two are 16 and 11. Hope you don’t mind me joining in. I am due 5th Feb 2020. I feel like a new mum to be honest and am very nervous, especially since I’m now over 40. I am 11+ weeks and yesterday started experiencing some brown discharge. It has been encouraging to read that a number of people on this group have experienced similar discharge because I really couldn’t remember from my previous experiences. Hope you are all doing well.

Kebabbie · 19/07/2019 15:51

Hi Everyone

I am so new to pregnancy and babies, hope it ok to jump on here. I'm due 18th Feb. Currently 9 weeks +3 and so scared! I'm generally a very doubtful person and never believe anything will go the way I want, but a massive part of me thinks that this is going to be fine and actually i will be ok!

Current symptoms - Tiredness, Exhaustion, and weirdly, tight clothes (not sure if that is all the food i am eating though) currently a size 18 and constantly panicked about putting too much weight on.

@syousaf i had quite a bit of brown dishcharge trying to go with the theory that if i'm not filling a pad per hour it should be ok. Hope you're doing ok

sulkysukey · 19/07/2019 16:02

@Marleym28 I'm with you on the very tight clothes (and also had put on 3.5Kg at my booking in) - a bit gutted really as I was running 3x/week but extreme exhaustion has prevented me from doing any for the last few weeks, especially in the heat which has been making me nauseous. Really hoping to pick up running again in the second trimester. Has anyone else all but given up moving over the last few weeks? Hmm Really trying to eat well too but just made a ginger cake and obviously had to try a rather large slab... Cake

Got my 12 week scan date for 7 Aug Smile but going to try and change it as I only work 2 days/week and that's one of them, so not sure my work would be too impressed...

JellyBaby666 · 19/07/2019 16:09

Welcome new members! Trying to hold onto my lunch over here, the nausea settled for a bit and is now back with a vengeance.

Private scan tomorrow, so nervous but also excited. Fingers fingers crossed all is okay, my symptoms eased off midweek and it frightened the pants off me and I was convinced it was bad news...

Kebabbie · 19/07/2019 16:16

@sulkysukey - That's the same date as mine! Well it is until you move it to another day. :) Hope it goes well for you.

tisonlymeagain · 19/07/2019 16:29

Hi @syousaf I'm just coming up to 40 and my youngest is 12 😬 It's a scary time!

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 19/07/2019 16:36

Right, I'm going to bite the bullet and join you guys! I've been lurking in the background a bit worried to join up if I'm honest.

Have my dating scan Monday afternoon so hoping that goes okay. This will hopefully be DC#2 for us. We have a DD who's nearly 11 months and wanted a close age gap :)

So hi everyone 👋👋
