@MrsR16 I know what you mean, some of the convos on here 🤣

@daisiesandpeonies I remember you from the TTC group, so happy for you to have your BFP. Love how you drove like a loony to the 24hr for more tests haha. I'm picturing the scene from Knocked Up. 😂😂

So on the subject of random topics... just dtd and in one particular position it hurt... have any of you experienced painful positions in early pregnancy? I'm only 7+5 so don't have a bump to contend with, just felt like it was hurting my cervix 🙈 wondering if it's something I should mention to the midwife on Friday or if it's common.

MrsEG · 02/07/2019 21:51

@Fivebyfive2 @BabySquid Sex was one of the things I asked my consultant about as I’m super paranoid and whilst she said it’s completely safe it can cause cervical irritation during pregnancy and not to worry if there was any discomfort or even a little bleeding afterwards - so sounds perfectly normal to me (I’ve not been brave enough myself!!!)

Fivebyfive2 · 02/07/2019 22:03

@MrsEG, thanks hun! I figured it wasn't anything to worry too much about as there's no bleeding or anything, or even pain really, just a bit uncomfortable for a little bit after. How are you doing? Your first early scan is Fri right? Xx

Just bit of detail on my hospital visit yesterday. Obviously all good with the scan, which is the main bit. Saw the consultant, they're gonna monitor me and book an appointment with my consultant and a surgeon at 34 weeks to discuss a plan for the birth in more detail. My scars from previous surgery would make a c section quite the procedure apparently! But, depending on the baby's size and how I'm doing, it may still be a requirement... Possibly because of the scar tissue!! So kind of a double edge sword. But, good news is they're really pleased with how it's going so far and are currently optimistic about me being able to give birth he old fashioned way. It is nice to know they're on it and are keeping me informed about all the options.

MrsEG · 03/07/2019 07:09

@daisiesandpeonies Ah what a great story - I bet your fertility doctor was delighted too! Hope you had a great holiday in May also!

@Fivebyfive2 Oh that’s fab they are being so conscientious so soon! A good friend of mine is actually currently in her 3rd tri and weighing up elective C section or waiting it out, following a past surgery. She’s gearing more towards a section now though as I think she just wants baby here, and they’ll do it 2 weeks sooner!! But from her experience at least, you can make up your mind on it way later on :)
Yep first scan will be Friday when they think I’ll be 6+6. I’m extremely nervous about it and I cannot believe it is only Wednesday, this week has already lasted 8 years haha. I understand the need for it given my history and check the treatment plan is all okay etc but I’m very nervous and currently just have the feeling of just wanting to get it over with. DH is remaining a ray of optimism which is balancing out my panic a little!

BabySquid · 03/07/2019 07:58

@MrsEG totally with you on this week lasting 8 years!! I've got my first appointment with the midwife on Friday aft then a private scan on Saturday ready to tell both mine and DHs parents this weekend... so much to look forward to always means a slow ass week 😫
This nausea is killing me this morning, not actually chucked or even heaved, but god my belly is doing flips!!

MrsR16 · 03/07/2019 08:59

@daisiesandpeonies oooh!!! Congratulations! It's so good to see you 😊

@MrsEG my DH just isn't even interested 😂 he's interested in poking baby bump in the morning when it's actual bump rather than podge! 😂

@BabySquid there's a couple of positions that are really uncomfortable for me, but we've worked around it and are alright now 😊😊

purplefig · 03/07/2019 09:02

@LikeTheFruit haha love it! I'm supposed to have progressed to the 'knocked up' version but thanks to nausea I can't stomach anything like that right now. Hoping my month of healthy smoothies is still paying off now....currently living on crackers and potato. So nutritious! FWIW I had cramps for a week or so after positive test, as did lots of women on here. Apparently it's everything stretching out. I'm also getting the odd cramp now at 8+1, though much less than I had.

@daisiesandpeonies congratulations! What a lovely story too! Did you post in the spin off TTC for 1 year+ group? If not I bet they'd love to hear your news too.

@MrsEG that's fair enough - I think a good boxset definitely counts as a distraction!

@BabySquid yes some positions definitely hurt, anything where it's too, er, deep! Tbh we've backed right off sex at the mo. Between my painful boobs, nausea and sensitive cervix I'm not feeling particularly in the mood!

@Fivebyfive2 good to get ahead of these things and start to think about what you'd like to do. And like @MrsEG said, you're in no hurry to decide.

I've realised that my nausea lessens so much once I've eaten, but feeling nauseous the last thing I want to do is eat. I made myself eat dinner (someone else had cooked) last night and felt pretty much normal afterwards. Same again with breakfast this morning. So I think that's my new strategy! In other news, booked in an m&s trip this weekend to get some comfy bras 🍈🍈

stormtrooperjulian · 03/07/2019 10:17

@EltzBee we went through the clothes bundle we got from Facebook marketplace last night, we have more than enough in newborn and 0-3, not sure he’ll get to wear it all! I really wasn’t expecting such a huge bundle when I arranged to collect it

@LikeTheFruit congratulations!

@BostonFern we’ve gone for the Mamas and Papas Ocarro, looked at loads and that was the clear winner

@MrsR16 unfortunately my DH is a bum man rather than boobs so he’s not fussed about my new giant boobs, so no one is benefiting from them!

@TrashKitten10 are you sure you want bigger boobs? You can have mine if you want 😂 they’re just inconvenient, getting in the way all the time and making it difficult to find clothes that look good

@daisiesandpeonies oh wow congratulations! I remember you from the thread ages ago, must be such a shock after trying for so long

@purplefig I remember sex being difficult in the first trimester cos of my painful boobs, couldn’t bare to have DH touch them at all. Try to find a small bland snack that you can force down quickly, crackers or plain digestive biscuits can be good, easy to eat and regular snacking should help with the nausea. I only felt nauseous when I was hungry so I snacked constantly for the first couple of months.

MrsEG · 03/07/2019 10:55

@BabySquid Ah how lovely - hope all goes brilliantly on Saturday!

@purplefig I am finding rice cakes with a bit of plain hummus the absolute bomb at the moment, also mini bags of pretzels! Agree with @stormtrooperjulian above I am just snacking my way through it!! Also really struggling with all veggies but just made a massive lentil bolognese last night with some ‘hidden’ veggies (it’s literally a receipt for a small child) and it went down okay completely smothered in cheese I am just a human carb at the moment. Managing to get a fruit smoothie down me in the mornings though!

LikeTheFruit · 03/07/2019 11:59

@MrsEG and @stormtrooperjulian than you both!!

@daisiesandpeonies huge congratulations to you!! How are you feeling?

@purplefig thanks for your reassuring words. So sorry you're feeling so nauseated but eating past it sounds like the way forward.

purplefig · 03/07/2019 12:31

@stormtrooperjulian yes I think it's finally hit me - don't let yourself get hungry! Eaten a proper breakfast and lunch today and doing way better.

@MrsEG a lentil Bol with hidden veg sounds good! I'm normally a vegan so this lack of veg feels very odd!! So good you can get a fruit smoothie down - I've tried a couple of times and they don't work for me ATM. Shame as such a good breaky.

@LikeTheFruit no problem, it was only a few weeks ago I was exactly where you are and the ladies on here were reassuring me it's all quite normal.

Tropicana1 · 03/07/2019 13:39

Scan pic from yesterday 😊 all went well, measuring at 13+1 and all looking lovely and healthy! Was so nice to see it wiggling around!

Congratulations on the new BFPs!! How exciting @LikeTheFruit @daisiesandpeonies

@Tropicana1 congrats!! Lovely scan pic. Was that your first scan? I'm at 8 weeks and 12 weeks seems soooo far away!

Delilah7 · 03/07/2019 14:45

@daisiesandpeonies congratulations my lovely! Xo

Ethan sends you all kisses. Nearly 2 weeks old!

LikeTheFruit · 03/07/2019 15:17

@Tropicana1 thanks so much and what a gorgeous scan pic! Am I right In thinking you had to have emergency surgery just after you got your BFP? How are you?

MrsEG · 03/07/2019 18:35

@purplefig Lentil Bol was okay but apparently I now also hate carrot and I felt like it was all I could taste; challenge for tonight is to pick all the carrot out of the other portions I made!!

@Tropicana1 Ahhh lovely scan pic, congrats!! Must be so nice to see after the surgery and all the sickness, makes it all worthwhile!

@Delilah7 2 weeks already!! He is adorable. How is he doing? How are you getting on?

EltzBee · 03/07/2019 18:41

@stormtrooperjulian ours was like that too, it was so much bigger than I had expected! Definitely better to have too much than not enough though right lol.

Congrats @LikeTheFruit @daisiesandpeonies

@purplefig I found the same that if I could get some food down, it helped. Even now at 31+5, if I get too hungry, the nausea comes back (thankfully not been sick for 10 weeks now!). I make sure to keep snacks to hand, and always kept biscuits/crackers in my bedside table. Somehow bringing back up breakfast like cereal too was also less painful than just stomach bile.

@Tropicana1 glad the scan went well!

@Delilah7 ah wow that 2 weeks has gone so fast! :o what a cutie. How are you doing hun?

Had a team day out today at work, so meeting this morning then we did an Escape Room this afternoon which was actually really good fun, then couple of drinks in the pub in the sunshine. Peroni 0% is actually really nice too, one of the better ones. Waiting to head home now, and trying to work out what to have for dinner. Quite hungry as the lunch option was rubbish - they put the veggie option (salad in a wrap....) cosied up next to the meat wraps which were falling apart, and when I asked for separate veggie ones they literally brought me these two tiny little chunks of wrap. Even the salad had anchovies in so couldn't even eat that! Amazes me how badly some places still manage to do veggie food...

daisiesandpeonies · 03/07/2019 19:00

@Delilah7 what a cutie congratulations hun!!!
So glad to see everyone doing well.
Been to the doctor, he was concerned about my abdominal cramps so sent me for a scan already this afternoon! Everything is well, saw the heartbeat Smile I'm 5 + 4. Please keep everything crossed for us! Absolutely no symptoms other than the cramps and slightly sore boobs - no nausea so far.

LindyMoe · 03/07/2019 19:14

@Tropicana1 aww seeing that scan is so reassuring, congrats!

@daisiesandpeonies absolutely the same, no nausea and breast pain at night.

Ladies im only 5 or so weeks but now I'm not controlling my hunger very well. Normally I can wait if im hungry, however now I go from 10 - 100 immediately and if I don't eat I feel sick...

Normal or a problem?

BostonFern · 03/07/2019 19:33

@Fivebyfive2 good news from the consultant then. I was impressed by my consultant, she was very thorough and reassuring that they were putting appropriate plans into place.

@purplefig I found M&S breakfast biscuits spaced throughout the day between meals helped the nausea too- it always seemed so much better if I ate something, which seems like the last thing you want to do when you feel sick- pregnancy is weird 😂

@Tropicana1 great news with the scan!

@Delilah7 Ethan's so cute!

I've come down with tonsillitis today 😔 got antibiotics to take but going to try salt water gargles first.

Fivebyfive2 · 03/07/2019 20:37

@Tropicana1, aahhh look at that scan!! It's just ace! We're practically pregnancy twins with our dates! Xx

@Delilah7, two weeks already!! He is just perfect. Hope you're doing OK xxx

@Bostonfern, apparently the lady I saw isn't my actual consultant, she was off ill so I saw her cover. I should see my 'normal' consultant at the 20 week scan. We'll see how it all goes!

So, I told my nan today. Was a bit nervous, she has dementia and has good days and bad days. Luckily today was definitely a good day! She was so pleased, really chatty and said she was going to try and think of good names for us to use, bless her 😀

Delilah7 · 03/07/2019 21:02

@MrsEG baffling isn't it?! He's getting on ok. It's all such a learning curve. He's put on weight which I'm happy about obviously but he's pooings slowed down and there's so much to constantly worry about! I'm struggling mentally too.

@EltzBee thanks lovely! I'm struggling I won't lie :(

@daisiesandpeonies thanks honey xxx

@BostonFern aww thank you 🥰

@Fivebyfive2 thank you x x x

purplefig · 03/07/2019 21:24

@LindyMoe @daisiesandpeonies I think most people don't get nausea until 6+ weeks. Mine only properly kicked around week 7 if I recall. Cramps are super common early on too, from what I've read most women get them. (I did a lot of reading a few weeks ago!!)

@MrsEG it's infuriating isn't it?! You think you're ok and then bam 🤢 had a veggie stew ready meal for dinner and barely ate 1/4. Hate ready meals so don't know what I was thinking!! Just suddenly not keen on prep/cooking either 😂

@EltzBee urghhh that sucks. I find places are so much better at dealing with veggies but its still shocking what some people think is decent. Hope you get a nice dinner.

@Delilah7 ahhh he's lovely! Sorry to hear you're struggling - have you got enough support around you? Everyone says the early days are the toughest and biggest adjustment, but doesn't help when you're in the thick of it.

Delilah7 · 03/07/2019 22:08

@purplefig thank you! yeah I've got amazing support just so hard when you think you're ready and then it happens and you're not 😂 I'm just anxious and nervous. I'm fine deep down x x

MrsEG · 03/07/2019 22:55

@EltzBee Salad in a wrap!!! With all the amazing veggie food you can get these days! I hope you had a decent dinner to make up for it!

@daisiesandpeonies Ahh so pleased your scan has gone well :)

@BostonFern Oh you poor thing tonsillitis is horrible! Hope you’re feeling better soon.

@Fivebyfive2 Ah bless your Nan! I bet she was so so pleased :)

@Delilah7 Be kind to yourself - it’s an enormous change! Bear in mind that in the first few weeks post-birth you’ll have a huge hormone crash too; lean on that support as much as you can and just remember, you’re doing your best by little Ethan and that’s all that matters :)

@purplefig If I could get away with just eating plain spaghetti and cheese I honestly would. The food thing is actually bothering me a bit today; all the carbs and fats coupled with the lack of exercise and I just feel like a lump. Going to mention it at the hosp on Friday; I’m normally quite the conscientious eater so it’s been difficult!
