@Bettythecat congrats on the scan.
I've had maybe three glasses of prosecco in total after 12 weeks. Hen dos and weddings. Made them last a good few hours each x

MrsEG · 01/07/2019 06:44

@Bettythecat Lovely pic! I think one glass every now and again would be completely fine - my Mum had a Guinness a week on both her pregnancies and we turned out just fine haha!

purplefig · 01/07/2019 09:35

I've been off here for a bit as was feeling pretty rubbish last week and then away this weekend. 7+6 today and super bloated and mild nausea. Still haven't heard from the midwife team about getting a booking appointment scheduled.

@MrsEG ughhhh I know exactly what you mean. So many previously delicious things now turn my stomach!

@Bettythecat cool pic! I haven't drank anything yet, but if I fancied the odd glass of wine at a wedding or something I definitely would have it. Tbh the thought makes me queasy ATM.

@TrashKitten10 totally agree with you - I can't imagine being heavily pregnant in this weather. Though worth it for a summer birthday!

MrsEG · 01/07/2019 09:44

@purplefig Hope you’re feeling a bit better! I saw the consultant today, she has me as 6+2 but wants to scan me to check so I have a scan this Friday. I’m a bit nervous as I know that is still going to be extremely early but she wants to just check all is as it should be, and then re-scan on the 15th. Found out I only have to take my treatment up to 12 weeks too, all of it, which is a dream come true (injections are not much fun once the bruising starts). Hope you had a good weekend away!

Fivebyfive2 · 01/07/2019 10:16

Hi ladies, I'll catch up on all the posts and let you know what Dr says in a bit. For now I just wanted to do a quick post from the waiting room... All is fine!! Baby measures about 12 weeks and 5 days so we're a bit ahead again!! He/she was sucking the thumb, moving around and was basically perfect!! Pic attached 😀

Wonderful scan pics @Fivebyfive2 & @Bettythecat 🥰

So I've had my sweep ready for Wednesdays induction. Cervix not dilated but she walked it forward (whatever that means) and I got my show. Slightly bleeding now but all fine! Midwife did comment on how big his head is though 😳🙈 I hope I can push him out!!

thumper59 · 01/07/2019 10:52

Loving the scan pics!!😍

@MrsC87 how exciting!! So close now x

MrsEG · 01/07/2019 11:54

@Fivebyfive2 Great news for a Monday morning, so glad it has all gone so well!

@MrsC87 Ahh, not long now!! The very very best of luck for Wednesday; he’ll be here now before you know it!

EltzBee · 01/07/2019 12:22

Glad the scans went well @Fivebyfive2 @Bettythecat.

Had my 31 week GP appointment today; Dr was managing to run 50 minutes late at 09:10 so we didn't get seen til 10am, d'oh! All fine though, bump measuring 31 so still tracking right. Baby not head down yet but not worried, they've plenty of time (and obv have enough room to wriggle around still!). Little rascal kept moving away when the GP was listening to their heart beat.

We have a private scan on Saturday (at 32+1) so looking forward to seeing baby again and hopefully getting some nice images! Going to be amazing to see what they look like now! Next midwife appt is at 34 weeks I think, and then we have a NHS scan at 36 weeks :) it's all starting to get closer now!

A lot of people keep asking how I'm doing in the heat, and from another perspective, I've been quite glad that I've basically been able to live in flip-flops since March time and that I can just wear flowy dresses and things :) so comfy lol.

purplefig · 01/07/2019 13:16

@MrsEG great news you'll get a scan this Friday, and that your treatments can stop at 12 weeks. I bet injecting bruises is so sore. How was the lakes? Our weekend was great but tiring - 7 hour car journey + so hot. Luckily I felt great for it though - back to feeling sick again now.

BabySquid · 01/07/2019 13:17

@Fivebyfive2 that's a beautiful scan picture.
We've booked another private scan for Saturday at 8+2 as we're finally telling the parents this weekend. We wanted something more than a little blob to show them. Hopefully we'll be able to see quite a bit.
I don't know how they say that pregnancy (except the last month) flies by, I feel like I should be at least 12/15 weeks by now and I'm only just nearing 8!!

BabySquid · 01/07/2019 13:20

@purplefig I'd give the dr a call them then and ask when the referral was done? Mines this Friday and I have a page of questions for her already haha. Also, sucks that your nausea is back but I bet your glad it was ok for that journey! Mine is super bad today, it's just taken me about half an hour to eat a small salad 🤢
Hope everyone is doing well and had a good weekend.

purplefig · 01/07/2019 13:38

@BabySquid ahhh how exciting! I'm sure your parents will be delighted. I rang GP and they said they don't know how long it usually takes and that they pass on the midwife booking forms to midwife team, then they get in touch directly. They gave me the number of the midwife team but I'm reluctant to call in case I'm still too early.

BabySquid · 01/07/2019 13:44

@purplefig nah don't be daft... maybe ring saying you wanted to make sure in case it had been sent to the wrong address?
And yeah I'm sure they will too.. its FIL's birthday too, so no doubt on Sunday he'll be a little fragile, this should bring him round sharpish!

stormtrooperjulian · 01/07/2019 14:17

@BabySquid I’d wait til after the scan to tell them, and either accept that I might end up with a load of booze I couldn’t drink or make up an excuse why you don’t want alcohol as a gift..... a turning 30 health kick or something

@Bettythecat I haven’t had any alcohol since getting pregnant, I wouldn’t be against having a small glass of Prosecco or wine or something but I’m not a huge fan of either, I prefer cocktails and I worry that a cocktail would be a bit too strong so I haven’t had anything at all.

@Fivebyfive2 lovely scan pic, so glad all is ok!

@MrsC87 aahhhhh not long to go, exciting!

I’m 28 weeks today, officially in the 3rd trimester. Have realised that I have at most 14 weeks left before I have my baby.... that suddenly feels like no time at all! I’m still totally unprepared.

Bettythecat · 01/07/2019 15:07

@EltzBee you make a very good point about flip flops and baggy dresses! When you put it like that it sounds ideal! Hope your scan is lovely and you get some fab pictures.

@MrsC87 good luck! What's the reason that you are having an induction if you don't mind me asking? Are you overdue now?

@Fivebyfive2 Awww look at that picture, how lovely 😊

@stormtrooperjulian I really love white wine!! I haven't craved it at all really but the two times I've had it the smell just makes my mouth water it's so good! 😂🤦‍♀️ I actually think a sniff and a sip is enough to satisfy me as I haven't wanted the whole glass either time. I have to say it makes me feel a bit paranoid/guilty though even though I know it's fine.

MrsC87 · 01/07/2019 15:49

@Bettythecat I have Gestational Diabetes so they induce you between 37-39 weeks, I'll be 38 +1 weds! They don't like baby to grow too big, he's on the 90th centile 🙈 predicted 7lb 4 at my 36 weeks Scan so likely to be over 8 lbs this week! He'd be huge if I was to go to 40 weeks or overdue by 2 weeks!

Thankyou everyone, will keep you all updated! Just to let you know for further diet the line, sweeps aren't as bad as you think! xx

BostonFern · 01/07/2019 16:33

@Bettythecat @Fivebyfive2 such great news for both of you (@Fivebyfive2 hope you weren't at GH too long!).

@purplefig I hate to say it, but I'm not sure the bloating gets much better- I'm 18+5 and feel very bloated!

@MrsEG good news you can stop the injections at 12 weeks, I remember my belly being so bruised when I was having to do them!

@EltzBee Glad the appointment went well.

@BabySquid I remember every day in the first trimester seeming like a lifetime, it does seem to be going a bit quicker now (I reckon time might slow down again by the time I'm in the third trimester though!).

@stormtrooperjulian I can't believe you're 28 weeks now! I'm sure you're more prepared than you think too.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I went to a nearly new baby sale with my mum, got some real bargains- will put a picture up later!

EltzBee · 01/07/2019 16:39

@stormtrooperjulian woo welcome to the 3rd trimester :D the appointments start to pick up a bit now too - it feels like ages in the first two trimesters between midwife appointments, but here with 1st baby you start to see either midwife or GP every 3 or 4 weeks. I can't believe I'm 31+3 now.

@Bettythecat haha oh yes, I've embraced the flip flops :D I've not personally had a drink since getting our BFP (other than literally a sip to try one of DH's drinks). I'm sure a small amount wouldn't do any harm, but I'm not a big drinker anyway and found it's easier to just not drink.
I got given some alcoholic drinks for my 30th birthday (I was only about 6 weeks so nobody knew) and I've just put the bottles in the cupboard.

@MrsC87 good luck! Glad to hear that sweeps aren't as bad as they sounds either!

BostonFern · 01/07/2019 17:13

Here's my nearly new bargains. I think we spent £35 and got 22 items of clothing, a fabric sling and a brand new groegg2 (which is £22 on amazon alone at the moment, we paid £7!). Some nice brands in the clothes too, mothercare, next and boots, a lovely reversible Joules coat and some Ted Baker bottoms.
Would really recommend going to these kind of sales if anyone is thinking about it.

mrsof20118 · 01/07/2019 18:36

@MrsEG not too long to wait until your scan on Friday.
@Fivebyfive2 Congrats on the scan
@BabySquid it does seem to drag then when you start having regular midwife appointments it picks up speed a bit
@MrsC87 I didn't realise they still did sweeps if being induced. Worth knowing! Not long for you now

Finally packed the hospital bags last night. Started to get more of the mucus plug come away today but no bloody show as yet. Baby feels very heavy in pelvis as well I am waddling very badly!

MrsC87 · 01/07/2019 18:51

Yeh @mrsof20118 they do it to help things along, if you can go in dilated you don't necessarily need the pessary then, it's just break your waters on your way! I'll need the pessary though I think 🙄 xx

Tropicana1 · 02/07/2019 07:56

@Fivebyfive2 yay how exciting! Lovely scan pic!!

purplefig · 02/07/2019 08:31

@BostonFern what a great haul! Was it a specific baby sale? I've had a look on eBay / FB marketplace and there are some great bargains to be had. Would be great to see them first though.

Ladies talk to me about boobs. I'm 8 weeks today and none of my old bras fit properly (they look comical). I need to get some new ones - but I don't want to be doing this every month or so! What did you all do?! And what kind? I'm thinking maybe soft sports bras might be the most comfortable.

stormtrooperjulian · 02/07/2019 09:02

@BostonFern your post has prompted me to google nearly new sales, I’m going to one on Sunday now! Picked up a huge bundle of newborn and 0-3 month clothes on Facebook yesterday, only £30 for the lot and in really good condition, hopefully that should see us through the first few months

@purplefig I ended up buying new bras every month. I went up a cup size a month for 5 months. I’m wearing these now www.figleaves.com/uk/figleaves-flexi-wire-moulded-nursing-bra-c-h-cup/FIG-010304.html?dwvar_FIG-010304_color=750032&cgid=#q=Maternity&lang=en_GB&start=4 because I hate how my boobs look without any underwire and there’s not much choice in 32H so this was pretty much my only option! Comfy though.

I started swimming again a couple of weeks ago, going to try to go 1-2 times per week during the third trimester instead of a couple of my gym workouts. I find swimming pretty boring, much prefer the gym, but I’ve got very mild SPD (due to an old back injury) and my physio said that swimming would keep my pelvis moving better.
