I love how many of us are FTM!!! 🥰

L0ULEW · 16/04/2019 08:02

@Sessy19 I'm enjoying that too as hopefully it's not just me that hasn't got a flipping clue what I'm meant to be doing hahaha x

Bean1987 · 16/04/2019 08:16

@Sessy19

Very true...20 weeks will seem a whole lot closer :-)

@loulew
haha....nope I haven’t a clue 😂

QforCucumber · 16/04/2019 09:30

I've added to the docs one - saves taking up so many posts with a list. we did it on the last one I was on a few years back and just makes the posts easier to read!

I have my booking in appointment on Thursday, it's all starting to feel real now.
Glad to hear you could add yourself @QforCucumber I was having trouble making it work.
I'll keep linking to the list so people can find it as they come onto the thread.
Google doc

Aph413 · 16/04/2019 09:53

That's lovely @tigsyboo such a lovely clear picture too.
I've added you to the list.

withsexypantsandasausagedog · 16/04/2019 11:07

@Aph413 Thank you- I have added myself on now :) Another first baby! Exciting and scary at the same time!

@L0ULEW Thanks :D Couldn't think of a username and so picked a song lyric.

For those of you who have had your 12 week (ish) scans (or scans with previous babies!) have you got any advice on what to expect? I have mine in under 2 weeks. A bit worried about the screening. And the full bladder thing- what if it's not full enough or too full and I need to run to the loo !? haha.

Smiffette · 16/04/2019 11:12

@tigsyboo lovely scan picture! It's made me super excited for mine next week! Grin

Congratulations @tigsyboo! That's a lovely photo. Are you telling people now?

I appear to be the youngest on this thread so far. Never thought I'd be in the minority as a 20-something! Sad I'm worrying I'll feel like the odd one out at any antenatal classes.

I got my 12w scan date in the post today so I'm very excited! 2 weeks and I will hopefully know all is well. I should be 11+6 by my dates or 12+3 by the midwife's dates (they don't account for long cycles). Also worrying like @withsexypantsandasausagedog, what if I need a wee? What if they are running late and I'm dancing round? Blush

I don't think the demand is the same in my area as all yours! I got a booking appointment in person at 8+3 and a perfect scan date. No baby boom here it seems!

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 16/04/2019 11:45

Hey ladies, havent posted for a while, as I keep having problems and didnt know if I was miscarrying or not.

Had bleeding about ten days ago, ended up going to hospital as losing clots, got told I was having a mc (me a bawling mess)as they took swabs of what they called 'products of pregnancy' to send off to histology. They decided to give me a scan (sheer luck the dr on could work the early pregnancy scanner) and baby was there, lovely strong heartbeat. So I started to breathe again.

Still bleeding for a week (and up to now Confused) and then passed large lump of tissue. Cue the probably miscarrying again. Had scan yesterday and baby is fine, lovely heartbeat, growing and apparently very wiggly- wouldnt stay still to be measured.

So now they think as I had a bicornuate uterus, that its either one side of the uterus shedding part of its lining, or v likely that there was a second pregnancy that didnt develop.

Bring on the second trimester so I feel like a can relax a bit! Giving serious consideration to hanging upside down like a bat to keep everything in Wink

Ill try and add myself on the google doc thingy

L0ULEW · 16/04/2019 12:01

@dottydally I was thinking the same thing re age. Think the average UK age these days to have first baby is 30 so guess we are consided young.

@BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil gosh that sounds like a roller coater. Glad you're staying positive and the little one is holding on in there x

Sessy19 · 16/04/2019 12:14

@bananas, I feel your pain. Thought I’d be jumping around excited and pleased about this pregnancy that has been waited on for such a long time, but since threatened miscarriage I’ve been a quivering wreck, scared to bend over!

Nearly there...second trimester is within touching distance. So pleased for you that you were able to get the scans for reassurance, I’m patiently and impatiently waiting for 12w scan at 13+6!! 😬😬😬

QforCucumber · 16/04/2019 12:48

Those concerned about bladder/scans - it doesn't have to be uncomfortably full, and if they check and it's not full enough you're sent back to the waiting room and told to drink a couple of glasses of water. The uterus sits just above the bladder and having a full one pushes it higher so they can get a better view of everything going on in there :) just take a bottle of water in with you and drink a couple of glasses on the way

QforCucumber · 16/04/2019 12:50

Also, @withsexypantsandasausagedog with my first the screening doesn't tell you much at the time tbh, we got a letter about a week after the scan saying a 1:50,000 chance of any trisomys or chromosonal issues.

Mintypea5 · 16/04/2019 13:42

@tigsyboo gorgeous scan! It's amazing how much they change from blob to baby

@BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil sorry it's been so stressful. I had a lot of bleeding last pregnancy. Makes it so hard to relax and enjoy! Sounds like you've got a strong fighter in there lovely xxx

@dottydally I'm over 30 now but had my first baby at 24! I felt sooooooo young then Grin

Full bladder isn't too bad but I'd advise against making it tooo full! My area always runs bloody late and it's a nightmare dancing around needing a wee! I think last time they told me to have about a pint of water an hour/ hour and half before

Midwife did my scan paper work over the phone Friday so hoping to get my appointment soon.

Emotional mess today spent most of it crying Blush

Aph413 · 16/04/2019 14:11

@dottydally I was 26 when I started trying, we wanted to start younger but had difficulty trying to get the coil removed. As it's then taken 2 years to get pregnant I wish I'd kicked up more of a fuss over it.

Knickersononeshead · 16/04/2019 14:23

I keep chickening out telling the other DC 🙈🙈

Mintypea5 · 16/04/2019 14:26

@Knickersononeshead I think my DS1 knows but isn't saying he does until I tell him. Hoping to tell him after 12 week scan

Knickersononeshead · 16/04/2019 14:30

I kept telling myself I'll tell them after the 12 week scan but that was last Friday and I've just kept putting it off

Knickersononeshead · 16/04/2019 14:40

Oh and I'm definitely feeling movements now 😍 thought I had been for a few days but no denying that feeling again eek

Pop1234 · 16/04/2019 14:42

@dottydally I'm also only 24 but haven't been on much as after 3 miscarriages I'm a nervous wreck. I do keep reading everyone's updates though Smile

Preggosaurus9 · 16/04/2019 16:01

Definitely don't overdo it drinking water before the scan. I got told off last time as the bladder was so full it was pushing the womb away from the scanner. Also incredibly uncomfortable! I think so long as you don't go to the loo for an hour or two before it should be fine?

thumper59 · 16/04/2019 16:02

@dottydally I'm 23, baby is due 2 days before my 24th birthday 😊

Preggosaurus9 · 16/04/2019 16:03

@BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil what a rollercoaster. Everything crossed for you!

Lovely pic @tigsyboo
