@AmyLo have you contacted your midwives or local GP? i had to go to the GP and complete a form which they passed on to the midwive team who then phoned me with my booking in appointment which ws at 8 weeks, pretty much 2 days after that i got a scan letter for 12+1

Preggosaurus9 · 18/04/2019 13:08

@Smiffette so sorry. Glad you have good support irl.

Preggosaurus9 · 18/04/2019 13:11

@AmyLo were you given any info as to where you were being referred to? Try ringing up and making sure you're on the system. Referrals do get lost sometimes unfortunately so no harm chasing.

AmyLo · 18/04/2019 13:22

thanks @QforCucumber and @Preggosaurus - when I first found out (6weeks) went to doc and he told me to come back in a month - which I did. He said he would refer me to UCLH that day but when I called hospital this morning they had no record and advised to self refer - which I have now done.. They've said they already have a back log so it seems chances are slim it will get processed quickly.. will call again after the bank holidays and try to push it along.. bad luck for me I guess that my closest hospital is possibly the busiest Maternity unit in the country - and only private clinics nearby are Harley Street which charge a fortune for private scans! guess I just need to find some more patience and try not to worry.. kicking myself for not self referring as soon as found out!

PrayingandHoping · 18/04/2019 13:55

Had a scan today at exactly 11 weeks. We are going away with family for weekend so wanted to have it so we can tell them.

Everything was perfect. Letting myself get excited now 😁

@AmyLo hopefully they'll squeeze you in for your scan quickly so you don't miss the cut off for combined testing. I'm a few days behind you and my booking on got pushed from today to when I'm 12+5 so they did my scan booking separately to make sure I get in! Seems everyone is having babies

@Smiffette glad you have a a supportive boss. Sending you lots of love

@PrayingandHoping Lovely!! Hope you have weekend away and enjoy telling everyone!

@RainhamRosie It's fairly normal for them to come and go but also totally normal to worry if they disappear. Thanks

Lozzlepop · 18/04/2019 14:36

@PrayingandHoping what an amazing pic, hope you have a lovely weekend away with the fam and sharing your news 😁

Smiffette · 18/04/2019 14:55

Thank you everyone xx

Hey ladies, just trying to catchup with everything.
My partner has been in hospital this week so have been rushing around and caring for him. Hopefully he's home tomorrow.

@Smiffette so sorry about your news :(

Ameliel · 18/04/2019 15:45

Hi ladies, can I join you please? I'm 42(😱) and expecting my 4th! Due 27th November, so 8weeks +1 day today. For the past 2 weeks I've been having pretty awful time with morning sickness, its especially bad at evenings and night, so I'm shattered too...time really drags at this stage. I had an early scan privately at 6+2, they found a tiny blob with a heartbeat! This one was a bit of a surprise for us, we tried for a baby some time ago but it didn't happen so we gave up...was quite a shock to get a bfp! Could you add me to the list please, I'm not sure if I can do it myself?

TrashKitten10 · 18/04/2019 16:03

@AmyLo I wonder if the GP who told you to come back in a month actually knows how the process works. I rang up my doctors at 5 weeks and the receptionist told me to ring back when I'd missed two periods. It was only after reading that the booking in appointment should be held between 8-11 weeks that I decided that ringing up again at 8 weeks was cutting it too fine to actually manage to get an appointment. I rang back within the same week and spoke to another receptionist who was very happy to book me in with the midwife. It turns out they were really busy anyway and even ringing before 6 weeks they couldn't fit me in until 10 weeks. I'm relieved I didn't listen to the first receptionist but annoyed that she told me to wait in the first place when clearly that didn't seem to be the protocol. I'm now annoyed on your behalf that you're looking at struggling to get appointments in time because your GP, despite having very little to do with maternity care, decided to tell you to wait for so long to get the ball rolling. It would be so much easier if the people in the know actually knew what they were talking about! If I were you I'd try to kick up a bit of a fuss and even maybe say to the doctors that you were told to not do anything and now you're too late to get an appointment. Combined screening, if you're opting for this, needs to be completed by 13+6 and you could bring in your age making you higher risk. It's not on you could end up with delays to your tests and scans because you were misinformed by a medical professional. Go all grumpy pregnant lady on them! :)

TrashKitten10 · 18/04/2019 16:09

After that rant.. Grin

@PrayingandHoping What a brilliant scan picture! Amazing how in a few weeks they have gone from a little blob to a proper baby. Enjoy sharing your news.

@Pollypocket5 Oh no, how come your DP has been in hospital? Sounds like a stressful week for you.

@Ameliel Welcome!

Pollypocket5 · 18/04/2019 16:16

@TrashKitten10 He's having his gall bladder removed but there's been a few complications. It has I get home and just feel so drained and emotional.

AmyLo · 18/04/2019 16:28

thank you @TrashKitten10 - yes exactly that - my doc on reflection does seems pretty clueless - lovely - but useless.. I don't want to miss out on anything - don't plan on doing this again and it's something I've wanted all my life so I really think I will have to go out of character and become a bit pushy. Thank you so much for your encouragement - not usually one to make a fuss for me - but it's not about me any more is it.. @PrayingandHoping what an amazing pic.. wow - I can't wait! @Mintypea5, definitely want the combined scan - will try and push for sure @Ameliel congratulations!

Mintypea5 · 18/04/2019 16:32

@Pollypocket5 hope your DH is ok!

@AmyLo ring up and chase them lovely

I've got a sinus infection which surprise surprise I can't take anything for Sad it's causing unbearable pain around my left eye / headaches. Fed.up.

AmyLo · 18/04/2019 16:51

@Mintypea5 oh no - get well soon! hopefully the excuse of eating lots of chocolate this weekend will direct you from the pain!

AmyLo · 18/04/2019 16:53

@Mintypea5 - distract not direct

OhMarnie · 18/04/2019 21:40

@Smiffette so so sorry to hear this. Sending lots of love 💕 take care of yourself xxx

Colleen437 · 19/04/2019 10:40

Found a bit of blood on my underwear today. I know it can be normal cos I have a septum ulterus but still makes you panic

Mintypea5 · 19/04/2019 14:22

@Colleen437 try rest up for the day if you can

L0ULEW · 19/04/2019 21:25

I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and today I cannot stop eating tomatos!! Anyone think this is just a random craving or maybe I need to sort a better diet out. Haven't exactly been eating amazingly lately 🙈

Prequelle · 19/04/2019 21:28

Didn't know there was a new thread, been using the fb group ha.

Prequelle · 19/04/2019 21:34

Trash kitten if it's anything like how it works where I go I had the same experience

Had to wait till 8 weeks and then book in to see a midwife at my GP surgery who doesn't do an awful lot except get a quick history and then gives you your green book to take with you to your booking in appointment.

Booking in appointment was then only at 11+3 which made me worry about getting a scan which would be in the timeframe for the triple swab. Luckily I've got one at 13+3 because the midwife explained on the phone to the appointments line, cutting it fine though, I'm glad I know my dates are exact.

It is protocol in a lot of places to wait 8 weeks, I think this contributes to so many women in very early pregnancy having to come to see us at the emergency gynae clinic because they havent yet had any midwife input and don't know what to expect in terms of pain and bleeding.

Prequelle · 19/04/2019 21:35

And there is no self refer here, has to be done through the GP surgery.

Prequelle · 19/04/2019 21:36

Oh bloody hell can tell I've got gynae on the brain, triple test not triple swab!
