Due date next Wednesday. Sweep
On Monday did nothing. I’m so fed up!!!! Hubby has banned me from driving. Mom shows up every day to help me walk my son to nursery because she’s scared I’m going to pop on my way! House is spotless. Washing all done. Shopping all done. Hospital bags ready. I am trying to embrace the end of what will be my last pregnancy but aghhhh!!!! I’m fed up!!!! Anyone else feeling like this? Just about to order a spicy curry with pineapple- wish me luck!!!!

@CaseofEllen that sounds so promising though! Hopefully by the end of today you'll have you're sweet baby in your arms!
Don't be disheartened by the fact it's been going on for a while (easier said than done I know) but the fact that they have started is a sign that something is definitely going on down there! Hopefully your more than 2 cm now with the contractions! I'm so excited for you! Keep us posted!

The first sweep wasn't painful (MW has super short fingers though 😂) the second one was painful. I'm dreading today's one as going by myself as partner is in work. Il be so sad if nothing's changed down there. Who would have thought you could be so obsessed with what your cervix's is doing hay 😅.

Best of luck! Xx

CaseofEllen · 25/03/2019 07:06

@shiny888 I'm quietly hoping but trying to be realistic about it! Being induced on Sunday so only 6 more days if nothing happens on its own..

You'll be okay! At least you know what to expect from the sweep - although always nice to have DH their for support! My poor DP said he nearly cried when I had mine as he could hear and see how painful I found it. He's a good egg Smile so good I'm thinking about waking him soon as these pains been going on for over an hour now!

Good luck today! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you xx

Tootyfrooty35 · 25/03/2019 07:09

Thanks for asking @shiny888 😘 I'm good, no baby still but I did want an April baby so maybe I'm jinxing myself 😂 losing but if plug but I'm talking like little bits when u wipe and getting some pains but nothing I could say are regular at all. Didn't dtd last night but been at it regularly over weekend, sweep at 1.20pm then taking kids to a park when there are loads of steps 😂 husband just gone to work but from Thursday he'll be working from home 👍 oh and we both lolled at the dragon comment. I'm VERY emotional and had a really good sob yesterday after feeling very ragey at a messy kitchen!
Hope your sweep is OK, I go on my own and just practice my breathing...in fact I get no time away from my two little cherubs that going for a sweep on my own is a treat 😂 You'll be grand, I'll virtually hold your hand.

@caseofellen sounds so promising! The latent stage is frustrating but it does count towards rowing your cervix, looking back I was in latent with my son and when things eventually kicked off he was in my arms in jsut over three hours!

Come on babies, we want to meet you ❤️

Tootyfrooty35 · 25/03/2019 07:14

Congratulations! @luckykitty13 sounds like it all went well, and quickly 👍❤️

HidCat · 25/03/2019 20:39

@myotherbagisgucci @LuckyKitty13 congratulations!

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Tootyfrooty35 · 25/03/2019 21:04

Well, my sweep was very, very thorough let's say 😳 I told her to go for it and my word did she. Been having period type pains and back ache since then, plus bloody show immediately after. She could stretch me to a 4 and said my waters were bulging although I think she probably meant she could easily break them.

I'm absolutely exhausted now, having a snack then an early night with DH 😍😂 my MW friend said sex might break them, esa slight bit of pressure on bump so that's on the cards too!

Booked IOL for next Friday but I bloody hope I don't go that far. Although will be easier to arrange childcare so I'm definitely at the stage of seeing the positives of that scenario. Still want my homebirth as it stands even though I get waves of slight panic about labour and whether I can cope but I've done it before, I'll do it again.

Hoping everyone is well, whatever stage you're at.

Tootyfrooty35 · 25/03/2019 21:05

@hidcat when are you due?

shiny888 · 25/03/2019 21:16

@Tootyfrooty35 glad she went for it with your sweep! Was it painful? Or just uncomfortable?
I hope the period type pains progress for you! Would be so lovely to have a homebirth! I'm sure you would smash it out of the park! Like you said you've done labour once before you'll definitely be able to do it again! 😊
My sweep got cancelled today because the rooms in the MLU were all in use with women in labour - talk about rubbing salt into the wound 😅. Booked in for tomorrow afternoon now so hopefully there will be some form of progression. Even if my cervix is anterior instead of posterior il be happy - simple things hay! Xx

Tootyfrooty35 · 26/03/2019 04:01

@shiny888 I'd say verging on painful. Better than last weeks, felt more 'productive'.
Instinctively, now I've woken with nothing going on other than constipation 😒 that I'll be going into to be induced next Friday, that's my gut feeling but I can be at peace with that. I think.
I had a homebirth last time with my second and it was amazing so at least I can trust my body to births baby but each pregnancy, labour and baby are so different that I don't want to kid myself this will go the same way. I need to be open to the idea this might be a hospital birth. And I need to be OK with thst for my own MH I think.

Good luck with your sweep, just keep breathing and you'll be fine. It doesn't last long and is less uncomfortable than labour so you can do 👍❤️

HidCat · 26/03/2019 12:28

@Tootyfrooty35 I had my little girl on 14th but keep checking in to see how everyone else is doing. Sorry your labour pains seem to have subsided. Hopefully you'll still get your homebirth.

Tootyfrooty35 · 26/03/2019 12:45

@hidcat congratulations ❤️ hope its all going well.

Pains have started up again, period type since 5.30am. Nothing regular but some are more noticeable so fingers crossed. Having decent shows too. I know this could go on for days or it might jsut stop but I'm hopeful 😁

Trying to keep busy and hopefully my baby will make an appearance at home soon ❤️

Chunk9 · 26/03/2019 14:40

How is everyone getting on?! Congratulations on all your little bundles!!!! X

OP posts:
shiny888 · 26/03/2019 17:32

@Tootyfrooty35 I reckon you won't need to be induced! I hope these pains get more regular for you now and they progress into active Labor! I'm rooting for you!! ❤️

Actually had a successful sweep today. Still posterior but She managed to pull my cervix forward, I'm 1cm, effacing and cervix is medium soft so all positive. Better than my last two anyway 😂.

@HidCat congratulations! So pleased for you! ThanksThanks

Tootyfrooty35 · 26/03/2019 18:59

@shiny888 ahhh thank you👍I hope so too! Planning the same walk I did before my spontaneous labour last time, for tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞 and I have another sweep planned for next week as seeing my consultant when I'm 41 just to tick the box for community MWs and hb. So if that doesn't work I think I can be satisfied that I tried my absolute best to go spontaneously.

Sounds positive, mine is posterior too, hidden behind baby's head but she walked it forwrd and tbh it doesn't matter as it drop quickly once labour is going properly. Tew fact yours is effacing and softening is good. You know you gotta dtd to help it along... My mw said the longer you can keep the semen in there too the better 👍 I liked her frankness lol.
When was or is your edd? Sorry I can't remember if you said 😊

shiny888 · 26/03/2019 19:08

@Tootyfrooty35 oh il keep my fingers crossed for you that the walk will set you off once again!! Have the pains still been continuing as the day has gone by? Or have they subsided Abit?

We just tried to dtd but my OH could tell I wasn't into it (I'm exhausted) so he stopped so I'm just running myself a bath with some candles to relax in as I don't want to let myself get het up 😂
Mine was the 21st March, when's yours?

Tootyfrooty35 · 26/03/2019 19:31

@shiny888 they were pretty much all day until this afternoon I'd say. BUT I can feel them coming back now so fingers crossed. I expect they might subside overnight again but I'm prepared for this latent phase to take a while. Its my third and I'm told third labours are a bit stop start. I'm sure I'll know when it's really kicking off 😂

Mine is thursday, so the 28th. Expecting another decent sized baby so kinda wanted to get things going earlier this time. Been to 42+2 and 42+1 previously so hoping for more punctuality from child three 😂 how are you feeling generally?

Tootyfrooty35 · 26/03/2019 19:35

Oh and we attempted dtd last night, it ended in fits of laughter 😂 honestly was hilarious but didn't manage to produce the goods unfortunately lol. Weve done well over the padt week though and probably managed four or five times so it all helps. My current thinking is I know my libido will be emigrating once baby is here and I'm breastfeeding and baby is in our bed so trtibg to enjoy it a bit now. If you're not feeling it and it's too functional then don't stress I say, just pleasure yourself even as a good orgasm and the oxytocin definitely helps too 👍
Do you feel 'ready'? Is this your first or second?

shiny888 · 27/03/2019 09:28

@Tootyfrooty35 how are the pains this morning? Did they subside again or have they stayed regular?
Oh wow yes fingers crossed for you that you don't go over 42 weeks again! I'm really rooting for you!

I'm feeling alright generally. Fed up but alright. Lost loads of plug last nignt and this morning and on my second lap of walking side ways up these 100 steps that is in my local town - probably look like a looney 😂. But if it gets things going I'm all for it haha!
How are you feeling?

Tootyfrooty35 · 27/03/2019 09:43

@shiny888 subsided again 😒 although they are still on and off and getting BHs again too. Actually feel very uncomfortable and agitated. My 4yo was eating a kiwi reallllllllllyyyyy noisily and I was feeling so ragey 😂 so maybe something is happening if I'm feeling like I want to be left alone. Back is sore too and my thighs, like you get with period pains.
I wouldn't go to 42 again personally, I'm booked for induction next Friday at 41+1. My gut atm is that I'm in latent and I hope that doesn't last over a week 😩

Good luck with the steps 👍👍👍👍we're heading out now for skme steps and a omg walk. Taking buggy too so can walk further even if they both get tired 😂

I jsut keep thinking that, whatever happens, baby will be here soon and we get to meet him or her and I'm trying to concentrate on the lovely stuff like finding out if I have another son or another daughter, breastfeeding a newborn again, dressing them on the cute clothes I got, seeing my husband holding him or her and grinning ear to ear. Just all that good oxytocin inducing stuff ❤️

We've got this 👍👍👍👍

shiny888 · 27/03/2019 11:26

@Tootyfrooty35 Well hopefully that they are still on and off it means stuff is still happening down there! Ooo maybe then? A shift in hormones is always a good thing, even if you are feeling agitated (which isn't so nice). I really hope for you your little one comes by the end of the weekend!

Was it really hard going to 42? I'm just waiting for my consultant appointment to be booked in for induction and really don't know when to agree for 😂. I so want to have her in the MLU rather than on delivery ward.

I managed to do it 3 times before my hip started to give in haha! I hope you're walk and steps are productive and help shift things along!

Oh I haven't even been able to think nice things, but reading what you just said about holding the LO in your arms and your partner holding them made me get all teary 😍.

Yes we have!

Tootyfrooty35 · 28/03/2019 08:10

@shiny888 hope I got your oxytocin going with my visualisations 😍

Slept alllllll night which was amazing but I'm so dehydrated now lol. Already downed three pints of water I think 😳 good prep for breastfeeding I guess.

Still having on and off period pains and back ache. I'm considering phoning my CMWs and see if they'll do another sweep. I don't want to over egg the pudding as they say and I suspect they'll say to be patient but a week tomorrow I don't want to be going into hospital, I want my baby before then, here at home. I'm due one next Wednesday anyway but that's only 48 hours before the induction date. I don't know my head is all over. I know I need to be patient and that I'm likely already in latent labour but how long will it last??!

Mentally and physically it's hard going to 42+. My cmw was supportive and understanding, I went for expectant management and while the consultant was a bit more keen on inducing me, he said it was my choice. They will obviously talk about the risks, slight increase risk of still birth mainly, but because I was on my seocnd baby and the first was a negative induction experience they did understand my point of view. It was important I let my body do it spontaneously, I needed that confidence boost. I listened to my gut, although when you're fed up abfd exhausted this does get harder and harsr. Each morning I woke up still pregnant I was disappointed but this last bit of pregnancy is hard, it's very draining and you feel like your body is constantly tricking you. The vast majority of women will give birth before 42 weeks though. It jsut doesn't feel like it at some points. Take each day at a time. When us your consultant appointment?

Anyone else still here and waiting?! We're with you, all rooting for each other!

Maydot · 28/03/2019 09:13

Morning ladies, can I join you?? I’ve been reading your thread, I’m 39+2 today and sooooo uncomfortable and fed up!!... I can’t imagine this baby ever coming!

shiny888 · 28/03/2019 15:41

@Tootyfrooty35 I think o definitely did!
Started having mildly painful tightenings in my back and stomach last night that lasted until 11.30 and then started up again at 5.30 waking me. Had a sweep done at 9.30 and at 1 I had a bloody show followed by a lot more mildly painful tightenings.
Been walking around like a crazy person today to try get things going!
Booked in for acupuncture tomorrow to try help aswell!

I would, give the sweep ago! It can only help things along! Or just say you've been having lots of pain and you think you need an examination because even that will stimulate the cervix 😊. I hope they say yes though!! It must be so frustrating and it's hard to relax when you're so focused on trying to get lo out! The latent phase can last a while I heard (no experience) but hopefully you'll have your baby by the weekend 😀 I'm really hopefully for you!!

My consultant was yesterday and they gave me the go ahead to deliver in the MLU if labour starts before induction which is booked for Tuesday. So fingers crossed she comes before then!

shiny888 · 28/03/2019 15:43

@Maydot ofcourse! It's a horrid feeling isn't it? Just being stuck in limbo! Try rest up and enjoy the time, although I know it's definitely easier said than done! Do you know what your having? Is it your first?

Tootyfrooty35 · 29/03/2019 09:23

Welcome @maydot, I can certainly relate to the feeling. I honestly feel like I will be pregnant FOREVER even though my rational sidfe says I can't be. Although st 40+1 my rational side is about the size of a grain of sand 😒

Feeling emotional today after a positive day yesterday, had some lovely time with my other two DCs, had some reflexology then a TA curry. And this morning I feel flat. Feel like induction is almost inevitable, I feel I'm on a countdown to that and I don't want it. My body is faffing on and on, getting lots of signs but nothing developing. Typical third labour I guess 😣

Trying so hard to be positive and trust my body but struggling. Meeting a friend at the park, going to do some steps up and down then hopefully have a whinge to a community MW on the phone. Sure they won't mind 😂

Surely it can be much longer for us all 🤞🤞🤞
