Hiya peeps,

DP and I have once again had a discussion over spelling of LO's name...when he gets here lol.

We have settled on Konor Michal, Konor is my way of spelling it but dp says if it being spelt with a K then we should spell it Konnor, I say Konor.

Michal he won't even attempt to judge me on as it was my dads name....pronounced Mehal it is Polish.

Which way would you choose? I prefer Konor and dp Konnor...

CeCe thats just not going to happen, I like names spelt differently. My name is also very unusual and I have only ever know 2 people with my name. S'pose thats why I like names to be different. Ds's middle name is Barrie instead of barry

RubySlippers · 07/07/2007 09:17

why is connor not an option?

RubySlippers · 07/07/2007 09:17

x-post

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/07/2007 09:17

Sorry I would go for Connor too, otherwise your ds will spend the rest of his life saying "my name is Konor but it's not spelt with a C it's spelt with a K and only one n" - believe me, having spent my whole life having to do similar it's a PITA

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/07/2007 09:18

Ruby because I am adamant that his name will be spelt with a K instead of a C....just like to be a little different

sorry, x-post - but bear in mind that constantly having to spell your name for people is not necessarily a good thing

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/07/2007 09:19

Miaou, I have spent my life spelling my name to people...... how many Vaunda's do you know ? lol pronounced vaughn as in frankie vaughn but with a da on the end.

OP posts:
cece · 07/07/2007 09:20

Oh I say - sorry but I have an irrational thing about people who change names from C to K so they can be different. But if you must I prefer it with one n.

WriggleJiggle · 07/07/2007 09:22

What about Konorz? Then he could say "My name is spelt Konor, with a K, one n and a silent z"

Would make it unusual !

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/07/2007 09:22

CeCe thankssssssssss lol. Spelt ds's name with a K instead of a C as well lol... so will have Karl and Konor

OP posts:
cece · 07/07/2007 09:22

If you want to be different call him John

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/07/2007 09:22

WJ, shhh don't put ideas into my head lmao I am easily led at the moment!!!!

Miaou · 07/07/2007 09:24

Ah yes but with a name like that, most people will ask you how it is spelt because it is an unusual name in itself. My name is not unheard of, but usually spelt a different way (my spelling is not a made up one, but much less often used), so people assume it is spelt the more common way. People will assume Connor is spelt the normal way, so your ds will always have to jump in with the comment I made earlier. It gets very wearing. I know some people (like you!) like being different - fine - but some of us hate it !

RubySlippers · 07/07/2007 09:24

i was interested as i have an unusual surname and i spend a lot of time having to spell it for people - drives me a bit mad

BTW i prefer Konnor

nutcracker · 07/07/2007 09:24

Konnor

Although agree I would spell it with a C not K.

WriggleJiggle · 07/07/2007 09:24

Sorry TLE, that was meant as a joke, not meaning to sound rude if it came across like that. Just always reminds me of Michael Rosen's quote about his name being spelt with a silent 'q'.

Konnor looks better than konor btw.

FlamingTomatoes · 07/07/2007 09:26

Connor

SecondhandRose · 07/07/2007 09:27

Yep, Connor for me too. He will spend his whole life saying K. My cousin is Linzi not Lindsay like everyone else and it has been a nightmare for her.
You know when you are kid you want a pencil or a door plate with your name on well Linzi never got one and Konor def. won't.

FlamingTomatoes · 07/07/2007 09:28

Honestly?

Konor looks ridiculous, Konnor barely less so, and if it all sounds the same it doesn't really matter, does it?
