Thanks for the names
Beckle- I like that combination Ta, Good luck tomorrow, it helps to fingd heartbeat on full bladder so don't go to toilet just before. I'm sure you'll be fine a hear a lovely woosh woosh sound tomorrow.

Sorry it is a bit insensitive to talk of names when you and others are still worried. Hopefully time goes as quick as this for the rest of you,
i'm now freaking out about the birth unbelievabile really!!!!

firstar -Teo came from a character in a short film dh was editing, it's amazing how familiar names, songs, etc get when you live with an editor, over and over again. It is vietnamese for tom, not very exciting meaning!!!

I have taken the plunge and booked and early scan for Tuesday I will be 10+4 so fingers crossed!!!!

ejt1764 · 27/06/2007 15:26

Bluebell ? if you are not happy with the care you are getting from your midwife, then you need to write to the Head of Midwifery for your trust, expressing your misgivings, and request that you be assigned a midwife with more empathy ? I?m sure we?ll proof your letter for you if you want!

Will be thinking of you for scan next Tuesday!

Firststar ? CL unit ? is a Consultant-led unit ? for those women who need the more high-tech approach ? I don?t, hence why I want to go to a ML unit (midwife-led) ? in fact, the thought of going into the CL unit with all the machines and highly medicalised approach makes me panic. If they make me try to deliver there, I may as well go straight for a C section!

Bouncingturtle ? hope you feel better with your ear infection soon!

Uki ? love all your name suggestions ? the only one of them I?ve never taught is a Teo ? Max and Levi seem to be coming through secondary schools at the moment ? and I know 2 little boys the same age as ds called Felix ? Archer is a good strong name .. like that one!

Becklespeckle ? I bought a couple of bumpbands at about 13 weeks ? I?m still using them ? in fact, I?m wearing one today ? at 26 weeks!
You may well be feeling first movements now ? I certainly started to feel movements much earlier on this time than I did with ds!

Waving frantically at everybody else!

My news ? I?ll be brief ? I went for my 1st hydro session this morning ? it was bliss - water at bath temperature, and gentle exercises which really stretched my pelvis ? it?s hurting now, and I?m knackered, but I feel as though it?s a ?good? pain iykwim ? I?ve also found out that I?m entitled to all sorts of things after madam bean arrives ? I?ll get 5 days inpatient physio (if I?m in that long ? it wasn?t part of my plan tbh!), I also get care at home to help me with coping with the stairs and stuff, and I?ll get physio sessions to help with the spd for up to 4 months after the birth ? if I?m still having problems after that, they?ll still help, but not under the maternity banner. Absolutely fab! It was so nice to talk to other women who have the same problems ? one of the ladies also has coccyx problems (also from a sports accident!), but she doesn?t have the spd as well ? I was the only one there on crutches! I was also the least pg ? but quite a long way!
Anyhoo ? feeling very positive ? but tired, so am going to catch some zzzzzzzzzzzz

Mumpbump · 27/06/2007 16:33

Having a tired day today - went out to the pub last night with dh whilst neighbour babysat and didn't get to bed until 23h! Very late for me these days...

So just a quick hi to everyone...

Uki - not much help, but I like them all!!

Firststar - is this your last week of work? The ticket seller at the station asked me how long I had to work and I worked out it's just over 11 weeks... Seems so far away and I am so tired! Does having a heart condition make natural birth more risky for you?

Beckle - fingers crossed for you tomorrow... Hope you get that reassurance!

Bluebell - probably a good option to go for an early scan and get the reassurance. Good luck for next Tuesday in case it slips my pg befuddled mind...

EJT - dead jealous of the post-birth help, but don't think I'd want to have to go through what you're enduring to get it!! It's really good that they offer so much support though. Make sure you take full advantage of it...

Bouncingturtle - sounds like nesting is kicking in already... Happy decorating!

Lissie - only two weeks! I'm really pleased for you that they are doing the sensible thing and giving you an early scan...

Glimmer · 27/06/2007 20:15

Hi all! Just popping in after my 20 week scan.
I must be the happiest person in the world right now because everything looks fine: 10 fingers, 4 heart chambers etc. I am so relieved and I am in the business for ....

a boy's name!!!

Glimmer · 27/06/2007 20:16

Sorry have to run -- will catch up tomorrow.
Good luck Beckle. Will think of you!

BellaBear · 27/06/2007 20:18

oooooo! how exciting!

Any ideas yet?

fettleandminifettle · 27/06/2007 20:20

Yeah!!!! Fantastic news Glimmer! So so pleased for you after your awful year last year! We've still not got anywhere with boy's names, so can't even begin to help you there!!

Hello everyone else - so busy and frantic at work, haven't got time for a chat - got to do some work now!

take care all
xxx

Beckle - I second the quivery feeling, I have had it too. Had odd random sensation, like something inside me is give me a slight pinch.
I tried out the listener and DH and I think we heard a ver quite heartbeat, we listened to our own hearts first, and it was quieter and fast than our own. Lots of other noises to but I think that was muy guts lol
Ear infection has cleared up, thank goodness, feeling a lot better.
Been shopping on ebay for clothes, watching a few items!
Glimmer - fantastic, congrats on the scan! A little boy My friend is convinced I''m having a girl as I am still having morning sickness and way more than she did (she's expecting a boy too).
Off to see the midwife shortly!

basilbrush · 28/06/2007 10:24

Good morning ladies and congrats Glimmer! Having a wee man is the best. As are Scottish names

Sorry to be doom and gloom but am having a panic attack here. Should be 8 wks today but I'm really worried that my bean may have stopped growing Apart from frankly obscene amounts of CM, I've had no symptoms at all for the past two days. No nausea and my nipples are less tender than they were. At weekend, I was starting to see roundness in my tummy, a firmness low down abvoe the pubic bone which I assumed was my uterus starting to grow. Today I'm sure my stomach is flatter.

Also I've just remembered to my horror that with DS, by 8 weeks or so my boobs had gone up TWO cup sizes and were so sore that if anyone sneezed in the room it hurt them. Apart from the nipples, they're not that sore at all and they certainly haven;t grown. The rational part of me hopes this is something to do with the fact I BF DS for 8 months and my boobs are a bit more robust this time round but the emotional part is saying "This is a bad sign". Did anyone else's boobs grow less with a 2nd pg??

Sorry about negative post. Just cannot imagine going through the hell of another m/c

Mumpbump · 28/06/2007 10:43

Morning all!

Excellent news, Glimmer! I am so pleased for you after everything you have been through. What a relief!

Beckle - agree with firststar and bouncing. Starts off as a very slight feeling that gets stronger so it's quite possible it's the baby. I didn't feel ds until about 19/20 weeks, but felt this one at about 11.5 weeks.

BB - sorry to hear that you are having a low day. I definitely had even less pg symptoms this time around, ie. no aching in my breasts and I don't think they have grown as quickly. Like you, I put that down to the fact that all the plumbing is already in place. Similarly, my tummy could seem a little round one day and completely flat the next - I put it down to wind! Remind me when your scan is?

Firststar - guess you're the grand dame of the thread now!

Hello to everyone else. Ds had a temperature last night, slept really well, but was clingy this morning. I felt terrible leaving him at nursery and am meant to be out tonight for someone's leaving drinks, but thinking of skipping it to rush home to my little boy!

Have just bought a very expensive Isabella Oliver dress from someone on here for dh's 40th. It's "raspberry", ie. bright pink which isn't a colour I usually wear, but hope it looks nice... Can't really afford it as we're throwing a big party for dh in August, but I don't want to look frumpy in front of all his friends and colleagues. Now I just have to figure out when I get it if I have shoes which will go with it or not... Great excuse to buy new shoes!!!

Here's a thought for you. I was chatting to an ex-colleague this morning (now a client) whose wife and son are away at the moment. He said he enjoyed a nice quiet evening at home and it struck me how when you're a couple and your other half goes away, you tend to organise stuff and get out and about. When you're a parent, you enjoy the peace and quiet and catch up on some sleep. How things change post-babies, hey??

Hope everyone else is doing well today.

basilbrush · 28/06/2007 10:47

Mumpbump it's next Wed

Mumpbump · 28/06/2007 10:51

That's good. Only 6 sleeps to go. Try to keep positive. I have said this before, but I really did find that telling myself repeatedly that "everything will be okay" helped, if only because it blocked out the negative thoughts whilst I was concentrating on saying it to myself.

Woooozle100 · 28/06/2007 11:11

Congrats to Glimmer. yay We are struggling with boys name tbh. Agreed on Nancy if it were to be a girl (obv - not really very becoming for a little chap!)

I like Beau and lots of old testament names. (Or names that sound really cack with our sirname) Dh really doesn't like and has a problem with all the grim stories behind the old testament. Alas I am blissfully ignorant of such connotations and just think they sound nice. We are getting another name book from library today.

Beckle and BT - I had those sensations also. Deffo baby I reckon

Basilbrush - hang in there. Can empathise with you. My pg symptoms came and went then came and went again. With dd my boobs didn't change a fat lot, this pg they've gone crazy. Hey ho - just different pgs I suppose.

Mumpbump - yr dress sounds ace. Course you need a new pair of shoes - 2 I reckon Some heels for photos / occasional tottering and then some sensible flats for the rest of the night. Maybe buy 'em a bit nearer the time cos yr feet may swell and need bigger size / more generous width. I'm normally a 5 but am now a 6.

Woooozle100 · 28/06/2007 11:22

Ooh Uki - just scrolled down and read yr names post. How many sylables is yr last name? I like Max, Felix and Levi best btw

What about Xavier?

I love Tommy and Oscar. They sound daft with our name. As does practically anything starting with a t or with a k, ker sound in it

Uki · 28/06/2007 11:31

Hi All

Basil - Sorry your feeling worried, I always get really worried a few days before scans, they should make you feel more secure but for me they also made me worry more, as they are such a big definate thing. Thinking positively though CM is a great sign, and boobs do seem to go through spurts of soreness and growing so in a another day or two you could be a different kettle of fish, Chin up we'll be thinking and hoping for you and little bean.

Glimmer - What good news!!!! CONGRAT'S on the wee boy, they are alot of fun

Thanks for the help with names. I'm starting to think Max is too popular, also was the name my friend used, so i think i'll go with one of the others, it's so hard

Hi all! MW found little heartbeat no probs this morning so great relief here! Was the whoosh, whoosh noise and also the click, click of the little heart itself too!
Glimmer - so glad every thing is fine and a boy too! I have 2 and they are fab. Have plenty of boys names, I tend to like fairly old-fashioned ones best but could give you a whole list if you like! Ones we like are Harry, Jake (or Jacob), Alfie, Leo, Oscar, Oliver and Noah. Really like Rory too but think child may get teased for that! Its girl's names I am struggling with, the only one we like sounds cak with our surname!
Basil, try not to worry too much hun, every pg is different. With DS1 there was barely any nausea & enormous boobs, DS2 much more nausea but not so much boob. This time loads of nausea and far more boob than I have ever had at this stage (not that I am complaining you understand)! Also the nausea does tend to fluctuate a bit, I am guessing that is because the hormones do too. It is perfectly normal to feel how you do, I have had lots of days when I am convinced it is all over, previous m/c really spoils the first pregnancy I think. Not long until your scan now though hun xxx
Bouncing - hope you are having fun with your listener, that does sound like baby's heart to me! Glad your ear infection has cleared up too. Have been looking on ebay for clothes too - hope we are not bidding against each other!
Mumpbump, dress sounds fab but obviously you will need new shoes to go with it!
Firststar, bet you are relieved they changed their mind about a c-section! I would have one if I needed to (obviously) but not sure how I would feel this early if I knew I had no choice. Great that they will keep an eye on you though.
Hi to everyone I have missed, must go do some work! Got some lovely spreadsheets to update (yawn...)

Hey ladies - just popping in very briefly from Spain to say hello! all good with me and it looks like everyone is doing well so I´m speak soon! xx

Uki · 28/06/2007 12:55

Hi ejb

I crossed posts before, was one the phone as well, so not paying enough attention

Xavier has been one of my favourite boy names since childhood, although dh doesn't like it.
I even like it spelt Zavier as i think it is easier to pronounce, but he won't budge.

he used to hate Levi too, But has changed on that one which I love too. Our surname has two syllables BTW

mump -the dress sounds gorgeous, Is that a maternity label?

firstar re: feet
I'm not sure my feet are larger although my legs and thighs look massive- so swollen, I'm just glad it's winter here, skirts would be a big no no right now.

Are you all decided on names then firstar and are you guessing what you are having yet? or trying not too?

OP posts:
ejt1764 · 28/06/2007 12:56

Basilbrush ? try not to panic ? my boobs are exactly the same size now as they were before I got pg ? I?m sure my boobs did all their growing when I was pg with ds!
You?ll probably start feeling gross again tomorrow ? it doesn?t necessarily follow that a lack of symptoms = bad ? with my last mc, I was still throwing up even after I?d had my dating scan at 13 weeks when they told me the baby had died ? at this stage, your hormones are all over the place, and they can do the strangest things to you!
Although it?s hard to say, positive thinking can help ? even when I was at my lowest ebb in this pg, my saving thought was: ?If I can survive this twice, I can survive it again? ?

Mumpbump ? my dh works away quite a bit ? and even before ds was born, there was nothing I used to enjoy more than having a night curled up on the sofa ? on my own! ? eating toast in my jamas and watching rubbish tv!

The dress sounds lovely! I have a wedding to go to in September ? and although part of me says ?You cannot possibly justify buying a posh maternity frock just for that!? ? I still want to !

Ejb ? I just love the name Xavier ? helps that the captain of the Cardiff Blues is called Xavier, and he is lovely (although not in a pretty way ? just love the power, sorry, must stop before I get carried away!)

As far as names go, we can?t use anything starting with an E - our surname starts with T ? it?s bad enough marrying and becoming ET (which is what I did), but to saddle the poor child with it from birth is cruel!

I think we?ve decided on Mairwen Grug ? Mairwen means ?blessed Mary? ? and Mary itself means ?wished for child? ? Grug is to keep MIL happy ? it means Heather in Welsh (you say Greeg), and that?s MIL?s name.

Uki ? go for what you like in terms of names ? having a very unusual name myself, it?s not that great being the only one ? in fact, at 36, I?ve only just met another one (the fact that we both sing alto in the choir and have the surname makes it really confusing for everybody!)

firststar - all hail the grand dame of the thread ...

No real news from me really ? my nipples have turned dark dark purple, and have got really big ? even dh noticed! And ? my bump hasn?t really grown ? it got really huge, really quickly, and since then it hasn?t changed! How bizarre is that?
