Oinker -- I am outraged .
The problem is one is always so stunned when one is in the surgery and an hour later one beats oneself up for not having been more insistent. I would call them and tell them it is absolutely unacceptable to have given you contradicting advice and that you would like to have Prof. Megans personal opinion on what course of action to take. They should be reassuring at this point not critisise you for testing early. This is ridiculous!! Tell them otherwise, the whole MN net women from this thread will show up and demonstrate in their hall....

Sorry, pregnancy hormones boiling >o< >o< >o

Sorry redoing list as I seem to have dropped off the bottom again,

Congrats to firststar.

I am as I have just come back from an emotional rollercoaster time in hospital for a couple of days. But the outcome is that my beta HCG levels are doubling nicely and they even saw the scan in the uterus in the scan, so relieved. I will be going back in three weeks when hopefully we will be able to see the baby!

Sorry I have not really caught up with anyone else, will try to tomorrow.

Glimmer · 07/08/2007 18:44

Rainbowdays -- fantastic news! Sac in the right place, and you know your dates now. Now you can relax a little and at least not worry about EP. until you will see HB in three weeks time!

hotchoc · 07/08/2007 20:23

congratulations firsty, a wee boy , fantastic news.

quick update from my 22 anomoly scan yesterday, heart good, profile of face good and the nose has developed normally, i presume that is a good sign. in fact there was nothing to suggest my lo was unusual in any way thank goodness. i know that my stats have not changed but it is reassuring to know that development is as expected. also fab to see the babe too and, at last, beginning to enjoy being pregnant!

hope all's well with everybody,
hotchocx

Taichimum · 07/08/2007 20:34

No time to catch up on everyones news just now but hope to tomorrow. just a quick line to say Nuchal scan on Friday was good. Downs result excellent baby was boxing and playing with toes. so sweet.
I finally feel a bit more relaxed. Yippee.

daisyandbabybootoo · 07/08/2007 21:26

hi taichimum...so so happy for you

you'll be about 11 weeks then? i started to relax more around then as well!

I'll pass the goood news on to the June 07 lot..they will be pleased for you.

ejt1764 · 07/08/2007 21:43

fab news on the scan taichimum !

oinker - can't believe they're so lackadaisical at a clinic as esteemed as prof Regan's! and

Uki · 08/08/2007 04:48

OINKER

I'm really upset and angry about your appointment too.

I ended up in tears after my recurrent m/c appointment because they were so unhelpful and pretty much fobbed 3 m/c off as bad luck, this was in Sydney though.

Anyway i went back to my obstetrician and he said that his way of diagnosing is to way up the positives and negatives of any medicine/tretment and if the positives outway or balance then it is useful. I think that is how they should be looking at the steriods, what harm can they do??????

in my case it was just taking the asprin, but I'm quite convinced it has helped have had a much healthier pregnancy, apart from flu than with my ds.

Put a message through to the other dr. you saw, even if you can't get an appointment straight away, he should be able to speak on phone to you.

I'm going to ask my Ob about steriods tomorrow for you. Think positive hun, we will worry for you.

Uki · 08/08/2007 05:12

OINKER Not sure if you have seen this article, it mentions steriods and side effects at the bottom, also very good explanations and statistics about miscarriage.

I find the bit about bad luck (chromosaonal abnormalities)intresting as they say that only explains 50% of miscarriages

it is from The Hunting centre in US, which has a v. good reputation.

VV thanks for the reassurance, it is good to know that others have had it too. Not sure if I get to see a MW today but might ask if I do. Think it is just scan though, local MWs didn't know either...
Glimmer, Thanks! It is a huge milestone, halfway! Have to say though that with the bright sunshine we have outside today, end of December seems a lifetime away still.
Oinker, at your appointment! I think you did right to test early, you had very good reasons to IMHO! (I tested 3 days early with this one as I had hospital appt for mole to be looked at, lucky I did because they do not like to remove them in early pg, having it done next week now that pg is more 'established'. Would never normally test that early). I agree with what others have said, try (or demand!) to speak to the consultant who you saw before, if you are not happy then get a 2nd opinion. Hope you get on well today with results and stuff.
Rainbowdays, at your good scan results, glad it is all going well and hope you feel a bit more reassured now.
Hotchoc, phew! at scan! Glad there were no soft markers picked up, must be very reassuring for you. I always find the 20 week (or so) scan very nerve-wracking, mine is this afternoon and am quite nervous about it.
Taichimum, glad your Nuchal result was good, how lovely to see your baby playing! Mine is a bit shy I think and at the last scan it turned it's back on us all!

Last night I was snuggled up on the sofa with DS2 and baby was kicking so I put his little hand on my tum and baby kicked him! He was so excited! DS1 also had a turn and felt a kick but one was enough and he went back to playing, DS2 then snuck his hand back to feel more kicks!

Haylstones · 08/08/2007 11:17

Glad to hear all the good news on the thread. Sorry to hear about your hassles oionker, hope it all gets sorted out.
becklespeckle, that's really sweet. Dd was talking to my tummy yesterday saying 'hello, I'm your big sister' and it nearlly made me cry. She came into our bedroom this morning with her (dirty from day before) socks, gave them to dh and said 'these are for my little brother or sister'. It's so strange how their little minds work (she's only 3 )

my1stbaby · 08/08/2007 11:25

oinker and at how you were treated. I'm afraid hospital staff can be ignorant and very insensitive at times, no matter how world reknown the consultant they work for is. Definitely think you should seek clarification. Hope you are feeling ok.

rainbowdays great news about scan results. Hopefully, it'll be plain sailing from now on. Good luck with the 8wk scan.

beckle aww that's so sweet about DS and DH.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Glimmer · 08/08/2007 11:37

Taichi, Hotchoc and Rainbowdays -- congrat's our your scans! It's so good to hear good news everywhere.

Beckle -- waiting for a scan is nerve-wracking. Hopefully the time will fly and you see Lo very soon!

becklespeckle · 08/08/2007 11:55

Children are very sweet aren't they Hayls?! Bless your DD and her socks! DS2 sorted his toys out the other day and donated all his baby toys to the baby!

MrsMcJnr · 08/08/2007 12:27

Afternoon ladies

Beckle your DSs sound sweet. Hope the scan goes well.

Glimmer & My1stbaby & Uki & Ejt & Daisy & Mumpbump ? hello

Haylstones some gems here from your DD

Taichimum ? great news hon

Hotchoc ? that?s fab news!! I?ve read somewhere that nasal bone deformities are linked with DS so assume that?s what they were looking at the nose particularly for. Must be such a lovely relief. Did you see a lot more since your last scan?

Rainbowdays ? fab news!

Updating the list to remove my weeks as they get so out of date!

gd'afternoon

Congrats to taichimum and hotchoc on their reassuring scans. And good to hear about yr levels going up, Rainbowdays. I hope the time passes quickly until yr scan.

Oinker - just read yr post from yest and am shocked about yr appt. Are you in the UK? I would maybe contact PALS cos its completely wrong for you to be discussed like that and be made to feel that you have done something wrong by testing so early. Pff. These people need to understand the emotional sensitivity of such situations. I would also want to see consultant that suggested steroids.

How's our grand dame Uki? I'm giving you a blast of Europe's 'Final Countdown' right now - can you hear it down there? duhduhduhduh duhduhduhduhduh....

And big hello's all round to everyone else - MrsMc, Glimmer, Mumpbump, ejt. Ooh prolly a bit of tmi for you Beckle but I had that streaky bacon like discharge last week which turned out to be fine - no infection either. Just cos of cervical erosions. Wishing you all the best for yr scan x

Woooozle100 · 08/08/2007 13:02

And congrats to you jules on yr scan. So pleased to hear of all of this waving

oinker · 08/08/2007 13:15

Test results are in.........

HCG levels raised as expected and TEG shows blood clotting slightly. Doc has advised that aspirin only to be taken. I have to take 150mg a day. They are keeping me of the heparin/clexane though. I am releived about that cos last time I ended up covered in an allergic rash and just had to keep going. i still have the marks on my tummy and legs.

They also asked if i could cancel my holiday... How can I? I amgoing on hols with DH and the SKIDS. It's a family holiday and my mum is waiting for us. She is already there. I checked out possibility of returning for the day. It'll cost about £140.00. Not sure though. Keep thinking the stress of flying back and forth worse than missing a scan..

Mind you we all know that there is really nothing they can do to save beanie if it starts going wrong early on...

THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE AND SUPPORT....

)))))))))))))))))HUGS(((((((((((((((((

Hi All

Oinker- that sounds reassuring and positive. We will just have to hope and pray and be positive for you. I think a holiday and distraction are a good idea. Where are u going? Enjoy

Taichi and Hotchoc- sorry i neglected you before, GREAT NEWS with your scans, Hope they make you feel good, lovely to hear of LO touching toes, would be a nice pic.

Glimmer, Etb , Jules and others- THANKYOU for asking, I was awake last night as LO was squirming more than usual and was a bit painful, felt like LO was engaging more or something. had a bit more energy today. had a lovely time painting and mosaicing in my studio with ds.
Appointment with Ob tomorrow, i expect we will discuss what happens if i go over due date among other things

OP posts:
MrsMcJnr · 08/08/2007 14:18

Hey Jules that?s fab news and I am so glad that they are giving you scans at regular intervals to reassure you ? you?ll have a whole album of baby photos before (s)he is even born so far, we have 9 scan photos from 3 different scans, 8 weeks, 13 weeks and nearly 15 weeks hoping we?ll get another at 21 weeks too

Ejb ? hello

Oinker ? that?s good news I?ve heard about that allergic reaction to Clexane and am not surprised they kept you off it can?t believe they kept you on it before. The aspirin should help. Everything crossed. I am really cross that they have said that to you about your hols, surely you need then now more than ever. What difference does it make to them? Surely they can scan you just before you go? Or as soon as you come back? What?s the issue? I know with my Clexane they wouldn?t scan me before 6 weeks and therefore I had to wait to start the Clexane.

Hi Uki you hanging in there ok hon?

ejt1764 · 08/08/2007 16:42

hi all - hope you're all keeping well ... I'm having a mega hormonally down day, and so am not fit company for anybody! Am narky and weepy - people keep not phoning me when they say they will (including the midwife from the consultant clinic!) - so I'm feeling really hard done by!

oinker - am really glad that the tests are good - and enjoy your holiday - I think you're right in saying that a holiday will do you good ...

mrsmc - I realise that I have been neglecting your recently ... so hello from me ... hope you are ok, and that you manage to get some decent sleep.

uki - grande dame - you realise that the squits and general p!ssed-off ness could mean that your body is readying you for labour ?

Am waving at everybody else ....

MerlinsBeard · 08/08/2007 17:09

just popping in tokeep this in my threads i am on.

Feeling very rough and having trouble keeping any thign down at the mo. Hoping its all good but can't quite get there in my head.

Still no contact from MW and ican't contact EPU until i am "officially" pregnant, which round here means booked in. I requested early booking so hopefully that will be soon and then one of us can sort out scans!

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/08/2007 17:24

MoM...that's a bit rough re contacting the EPU...I thought they were specificaly for the time before you were booked in...booking here is 10-12 weeks which is kind of getting out of the early pregnancy phase.

Our EPU you can self refer at any point as well.

Quick hello to everyone.

I'm struggling to keep up with you all these days, but good luck to UKI...I'll keep checking in for your birth announcement!
