Thought I'd start this in honour of Purple's effort so far, hope you don't mind Purple I liked this title best.

Welcome to our shiny new thread

Ladylush- i couldn't find 75mg either and took 100mg. dr said that was fine. It was a special one for blood clotting and had a plastic coating so it didn't upset stomach and was absorbed lower in intestine. Make sure you take it the same time each day.

couldn't find 81mg either

Hi Ladylush -- good to 'see' you and thanks for checking in. I hope your AF will come soon and you will join us very, very soon.

Uki, MrsMcJ, interesting scan stories. I have no doubt that both of you would have had no doubt, when you would have seen our scan pics.
So, if you really don't want to know, MrsMcJ,
let the sonographer know and they will turn the screen away for that part of the scan. I understand not wanting to know and keeping the excitement, but personally I am quite glad that I have some time to adjust to the idea.

MrsMcJ, sorry I had ignored your post on manager . It is very good that it got smoothed over the way it did, but just imagine all the incidenced where it doesn't go this way...

Uki · 09/08/2007 14:03

I really hate hearing stories where they accidently tell you i think that would be the worst, and you'd think they would be better at their job.

Hi Glimmer and Uki I was like you Glimmer and wanted to know esp as I wanted a girl so much and didn't want to feel disappointed if it wasn't. I love ds to bits of course. Knowing in advance gave me a chance to read some good books on raising boys. Uki - problem is that I don't have a diagnosis yet. The Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic are very slow with appointments so I had a chat with a mate's dh who happens to be obs/gynae consultant (handy) and he advised me to take aspirin 81mg daily and clexane from the time I get pg again and a heartbeat is detected. I asked him if these things would be safe even if I didn't have APA and he said they are. I didn't ask him about a higher dose of aspirin though. Do you know why you have to take the aspirin at the same time each day?

ladylush · 09/08/2007 14:37

V funny story about the scan by the way

MrsMcJnr · 09/08/2007 15:14

I?ve just had lunch with my MIL and am feeling so bad for all the negative things I say about her and feel about her not only did she pay for my lovely lunch but gave me an envelope full of memorabilia from DH?s birth like his tags and her bed card , it was so sweet of her, I told her that I felt bad having them, that maybe she didn?t want to part with them and she said that I should take them for the baby?s book (which I have shown her) and she and FIL have also drawn a family tree for the book too plus she gave me £50 to buy myself ?something nice? and hardly asked me about the baby. I feel guilty, I know how excited they are and I don?t mean to rein it in but sometimes their excitement scares me to death. I hope I am not a disappointment as a DIL

Ladylush ? hope you can get a handle on where you are in your cycle soon I am on 75mg of aspirin. Great tip from Uki too get the coated ones for heart patients from Boots, much kinder on the tummy. I know we?ve talked about it before but I was told that the earlier you start the Clexane the better hence me starting before there was a HB. I think you need to take the aspirin the same time each day just so you get a regular dose (and remember!)

Uki ? funny stories! I?ve been told that I need to stay on the aspirin permanently and that I have to keep going with the Clexane until 8 weeks after the birth (but that epidurals and sections could be an issue for me) scared now!! My BP is quite high at the mo, imagine if I wasn?t on aspirin!

Glimmer hello

ladylush · 09/08/2007 15:17

Ah, that was sweet of your mil In a way I hope one of the APA markers comes back positive so that I can get clexane px as I don't think they will px it if the results are inconclusive. Plus now that I am taking aspirin I suppose APA won't show up.

Glimmer · 09/08/2007 17:08

I am off for a week of vacation... I hope everybody is doing well and good luck for everybody who has a scan coming up!!!

time4tea · 09/08/2007 19:32

popping back in... great to see that Firststar delivered safely, fingers crossed now for you Uki..

and lovely to see Oinker here! don't know if you remember me Oinker, I remember you (you live near Kew, no?)

good luck all

fettleandminifettle · 09/08/2007 19:50

Hey all - how's everyone doing?

Oinker, glad you've got some good news - enjoy your holiday.

Mrs - what an awful HR woman - you're entitled to paid time off for ante-natal appointments, surely HR knows that!!!. Thank goodness for your understanding manager.

UKI - sorry you're not feeling on top form. Just think it will all be over very soon! It is strange this pg after mc life - you spend about 30 weeks wishing your baby to stay well, healthy and inside you and then about 10 weeks beginning to think, you want it to be well, healthy and outside of you!!. hope everything goes well (TMI alert, but if it is any conciliation, I've verged on the D side of life all pregnancy, even when on iron tablets, I'm not constipated - MW said that you either go one way or the other, so wasn't anything to worry about )

Glimmer - enjoy your holiday - so . No holiday for us this year. i've got some of next week off, as we are moving. Removal men come tomorrow to pack us up, we are then homeless for 4 days before they deliver on Tuesday - let's hope baby hangs on while we're moving around!!. At least we are only moving 40 miles, so I'm still booked into the same hospital.

Ejt - how's your pain? Mine is definitely getting worse, particularly at night. How sore is it to turn over?? I don't think anyone who doesn't have SPD can ever imagine the pain - at least it puts childbirth into perspective, not half as painful!!

Hi T4T - great to hear from you - how's your little one - must be nearly one by now!!!

Hello everyone else - hope those in the early stages are hanging on in there - I really feel for you in those horrible first few weeks - but the worry still doesn't really go away all pregnancy - always seems to be something to worry about. My latest worry, is that after 6 weeks of head down, little one has turned and is breech at 33 weeks - apparently nothing to really concern me until 35 weeks, so let's hope!!

Take care everyone and I'll be back as soon as our broadband is connected in the new house - hopefully Tuesday!!

xxx

Uki · 10/08/2007 05:49

Hi again

ladylush- I'm actually the opposite and prefer a suprise at birth, i didn't know with ds1, which was great although got a little anxious to know at the end. this time dh wanted to find out more than me, and I agreed, but to be honest it's taken alot of excitement away for me. Although i really did know it was another boy from day one, couldn't look at pink

asprin is just meant to be taken at same time for maximum effect each day, as it keeps the blood consistent that way, i.e thining evenly. if you took it at different times it wouldn't work as well, makes sence IYKWIM.
On this thread i recently posted an article about taking asprin when concieving, was quite intresting. i'll see where it is.

MrsMc- that's not too good about blood pressure high already, My Ob wanted me to take extra calcium to prevent BP going up. so i take noramal pg vitamins (with calcium) and another supplement as well of 600mg It's quite a new idea, but the research is that women in pg with high BP have depleted calcium stores. anyway has seemed to have worked as BP was much higher in all my other pg's.

Glimmer- enjoy the holiday.

Firstar- how is it going with LO???I imagine you are being inindated with friends and rel's so no mn time. My first week or two with ds were so hectic, the phone and door and parcels just didn't stop

Been busy again, so only scanned.
Hello everyone!
Myfirstbaby, sympathise, I too have had ear infections, don;t hburt but feel itchy and kept losing hearing in right ear!
MrsMc - your HR person is clearly an unfeeling bitch! Am for you!
Uki{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}
Glimmer - won't be long now!!!
Saw MW yesterday, Turtle is fine, very active!

oinker · 10/08/2007 08:22

MrsMc...

Thanks for checking for me.

Steroids are definately out of it for me.

Are you on aspirin?

I have to take 150mg (x2 baby aspirin) a day.
Have you had blood checks every week or so for clotting etc?
I was originally (for 2 days) taking 75mg but they tested blood (TEG test) and noticed blood still clotting so have now got me on two aspirin. I was just wandering if this is going to be enough to keep me going whilst on holiday. I will be 7 weeks by the time I am back and in hospital being scanned and tested.

How did the hospital monitor you in the first trimester?

I am really after some reassurance and advice.

Woooozle100 · 10/08/2007 08:27

Hello everyone - just a quickie. Not fed dd yet and she's a bit rabid!

Congrats on yr scan, Beckle. First time round I didn't want to know at all. Was convinced I was having a boy. Still a tiny element of suprise for you - though I reckon yr having a girl That's only cos there seems to be more talk of boys than girls on the thread. Does anyone else other than ejt know they are having a girl?

MrsMc - yr HR woman is an arse Glad yr boss isn't. Re yr MIL post - I have moments like that with mine. Sometimes she's a gem, other times she's gushing completely innapropriate stuff and being downright upsetting (she was obsessed about me having late mc cos she had had one. Arrrgghh, it was when I was starting to relax a little as well. remember coming on here and having a rant)

Eeek better go and feed. Hi and bye everyone else

ladylush · 10/08/2007 09:20

Hi Uki, think I read that link before and it made me even more determined to take it pre-conception. I can understand you wanting it to be a surprise and maybe I would second time around but it just felt right to know last time.

MrsMcJnr · 10/08/2007 10:27

Morning ladies TOTALLY choked with the cold and feeling very sorry for myself, especially as I need to use by brain today oh well, DH is taking me out for dinner then we are going to a show in the Festival so I hope I feel better by then. Otherwise, nice quiet weekend lined up, just what I need

Ladylush ? they might just prescribe it anyway, I?ve noticed that they have for a few people with recurrent MC even without blood work. Fingers crossed. Not sure if aspirin would mask the APA but it might. I took aspirin post ovulation this pregnancy.

Have fun Glimmer

Fettle I?m like you always the other side of constipation ? guess that might mean no piles? Hope the move goes well, will be thinking of you. Sorry to hear about your SPD, can?t imagine how sore it must be, and here am I winging about my lower back pain Let?s hope your little one does a move of his own, head first!

Uki ? didn?t know you knew you were having a boy must try to take my aspirin more regularly, tend to take it with Vits after dinner and that could be anytime between 7.30 and 9pm That?s a good point about the calcium, I had read that somewhere. Coupled with the way that Clexane depletes your calcium, it might be a good plan to supplement it ? shall ask consultant on Tues thanks. Can excess calcium harm do you know?

Bouncingturtle hello

Hi Oinker ? yes, I take 75mg of aspirin a day. For the first 4 weeks of taking the Clexane (so until week 10) I was monitored weekly as Clexane can give you two types of bad reactions (as you know!) and can severely affect your blood count, so far, so good. I haven?t had any adverse reactions. Don?t know if they are testing my clotting powers or not to be honest. After the first 4 weeks, my monitoring when to monthly. Wish I could give you more reassurance, I don?t personally know the impacts of aspirin alone as I read up more on the Clexane then anything else when I was researching. Fingers crossed for you hon. Monitor carefully how you feel, fatigue could be related so be vigilent x

Hi Ejb ? it?s funny, on the TTC Graduate thread we are neck and neck boys and girls most of my friends have had boys recently though. MILs hey

ejt1764 · 10/08/2007 10:58

Morning all ...

My brain is mush, and I feel soooooo ranty!!

MIL phoned in a panic this morning as she'd phoned last night and left a message and we hadn't got back to her ... fair enough - I then had a chat with her to calm her down, and she asked me if my sciatica was better - so I told her that it's not sciatica, and then I told her in full, gory detail, all about the spd pain and about the coccydinia, and that no, it's not just a case of the baby moving off a nerve! Told dh just now and he was livid ... she obviously hasn't listened to a word he's said - honestly, she works as a receptionist in a doctor's surgery - and seems to think that that makes her medically qualified!! ... actually no, could just SCREAM ...

Sorry, feel better now!

I've had an email from my doula this morning too, she can't be my doula is basically the upshot ... she's passed my details on to the person who was going to be my doula with my pgs last year, who is in the middle of midwife training, who apparently is going to try to wangle it with college to be my doula ... I feel happy about it in one respect, as in the lady who was going to be my doula last year is much more my sort of person, but on the other hand, I just feel like going WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

I finally psoke to the midwife who is supposed to be looking after me in terms of delivering in the MLU yesterday - she was supposed to have sorted me out with seeing the obstetric anaesthetist 3 weeks ago, but went on leave & passed it on to somebody else, who basically did nothing about it ... it now means that there's no appointments with their clinic until 5th September ... and the cocodamol (I have dispersable ones) make me really sick, dizzy, and dopey, so I don't like taking them during the day - which means that I'm still a whingy mess by the evening! And yes, fettle, it is getting more painful to turn over! Thank God the end is in sight!

Sorry, another very me, me, me post ... will try to be more upbeat later!

love to all - have a lovely weekend!

becklespeckle · 10/08/2007 11:48

Morning all!
MrsMc, I am sure you are not a disappointment as a DIL! She would not hand over something as precious as her son's birth memorabilia to someone who she did not think was very special. Don't feel guilty either, even the nicest of people can be annoying sometimes and vice versa! Not good that your BP is a bit high but at least you are having loads of checkups! Apart from scan (where didn't see a MW) we get no appts here from 16 - 28 weeks - think it is quite bad that they don't do any BP checks or anything for 3 months! Lucky my BP is always really low (usually about 85/90 over 55/60.
Hi Fettle! Good luck with the move and everything over the next few days, hope it goes smoothly for you! Hope baby decides to turn back round too! Mine's favourite position is currently to lie on its stomach and kick downwards, is a very odd sensation!
Bouncing, glad LO fine at MW appt! Ejb, would be lovely to have a girl this time, there does seem to be a lot of talk of boys on the December a/n thread. There are a few who don't know but only 3 girls (including my possible one) and 8 boys! I didn't find out with DS1 as I wanted a surprise but DH wanted to know so we found out with DS2 and tried to with this one, I found it made it more exciting to know what flavour I was getting the second time! Is quite exciting to not quite know too, I was convinced I was having another boy so is nice to think I might have a girl!
Ejt, rant away hun, sounds like you have plenty to be annoyed about today! Glad you are going to have the doula who is more your kind of person but to have to change so close to your date - arghhh!
Baby having a quiet couple of days here after the excitement of the scan, not too many kicks but have felt it move around a fair bit. Has anyone else had experience of local anaesthetic while pg? Have got to have a mole taken off next week (they wanted to wait until pg was 'established' before removing it) and am a bit worried TBH, don't like the thought of any 'drugs' going into me while I am pg but know this mole has to come off.

VictorVictoria · 10/08/2007 11:50

becklespeckle

Had a mole removed on monday (had local topical anaesthetic). am 15 weeks today.

the suregeon who did it was totally nconcerned that I weas pregnant and I trust him completely

MrsMcJnr · 10/08/2007 12:18

Hi Ejt ? sounds like you have been having a very unsettling time and are feeling let down by everyone I think DH should take responsibility for talking to MIL to take the stress off you, when PIL get too much for me, I get DH to field all calls hell, their his parents not mine! Understand your thoughts re the doula, you thought it was going to be one person and now you find it?s another ? even if you are pleased, it?s unsettling. at the MW and your pain relief, very irresponsible and uncaring

Beckle ? thanks for the reassurance . Pre pregnancy, my BP was always on the low side so I am wondering whether Uki?s point about the calcium is a factor here. I?m sorry about the mole I?ve had one removed too. I don?t like the idea of MPs assuming that the pregnancy is now ?established? at any point I have to say. That said, Naetha on NY thread had her gall bladder removed under a general I think in the 1st trimester you could speak to her about the effects of aesthetic?

Hi VictorVictoria

VictorVictoria · 10/08/2007 12:22

Hi Mrs McJnr

sorry not posting much - still feeling a bit anxious as although have very very small bump still a bit nervous. 15 weeks today. Really really want to get to my next appt (22nd Aug) to hear the heartbeat.

becklespeckle · 10/08/2007 13:13

Thanks for the reassurance VV! Feel much better knowing someone else has had it done! Have to say the consultant didn't seem to think it a problem and neither did the EPAU when I spoke to them earlier in the pg about it - I am just a worrier!
It's natural to still feel anxious, I know I still do. I wouldn't worry about small bump either, I am sure my bump is smaller with this pg than with the others, perhaps muscles in tum are better (yeah right!) or maybe baby is just lying differently - I know mine likes to lie quite low whereas the others didn't.

siameez · 10/08/2007 18:54

Today (at 6+3) we got a heartbeat!!! They didn't need to use the dildo thing either - babba popped up straight away on the external scan with its heart bleeping silently at us. I've never cried so much with relief.

Feeling too sick generally to write much or read messages but now confident enough to add myself to the list Sorry VictorVictoria and Bluebell, don't have your EDDs.

Hi all,

Just thought I'd check in to say HI and see how you all are!?

I'm on crutches now with the SPD, glad to hear I'm not the only one! Turning over at night has become such a trauma too, in fact lying down altogether hurts loads so I often end up sleeping sat upright...

Realised yesterday that I had missed an anniversary of when I had my first m/c. Kind of pleased with myself that I've missed it tbh - does that mean I'm over it do you think? (it was 5 years ago now). I guess having this lo has completely distracted me before she's even born! (having said that, I'm not entirely sure I want to be over it - does that make sense!?). I'm rambling now...

Hope all is well with everybody - hugs to all xxxxxxx
