Just had my 20 week scan and found out I'm having a little girl! Partner not sure chuffed as he wanted a boy, but we are both very excited! XX how's everyone else getting on?

BeckyButterfly · 01/03/2019 17:27

@Jummynbean congratulations on your little girl! I have my 20 week scan on Tuesday but we already know that I’m having a girl. My hubby always said he wanted a boy but I could tell he was really happy when they said it was a girl anyway 😊 I was secretly hoping for a girl!

rosyedith · 01/03/2019 18:54

Congrats @Jummynbean 💕 I have mine on tues and I'm sooooo tempted to find out but also want a surprise at the end!!

Squeakybubbles26 · 01/03/2019 20:46

Congratulations @Jummynbean! I have my scan on Wednesday! Just can't wait to find out and put a gender to our bean. However happy either way either a little sister or brother for DD!

Mrsmummy90 · 01/03/2019 23:13

Congratulations @Jummynbean I found out yesterday that I'm having a girl as well! 😊

MrsMidge0505 · 02/03/2019 06:57

Morning ALL ⭐️💓
Congrats for those with their genders known! Lots of pink floating around!!
Our scan is Thurs but will be still having the gender as a surprise!

Went to The Excel baby show - so much there. Crazy! Some little freebies but also annoying hard pushing sales people 🖕🏽!

Ordered an all terrain travel system. I feel like we've just bought a new car it cost so much but it ticks every box. I make myself feel better but selling my junk on Ebay and buying other stuff second hand LOL!

Also felt a few flutters and saw one big kick last week, it looked like a scene from Alien.

Time is literally flying dont you all think especially as it's all counted in weeks?!?!!!

Mayjane5 · 03/03/2019 09:50

@MrsMidge0505 I’ve always wanted to go to one of those shows I would just want everything I see. Yes so fast almost half way there. Not sure what pram to get yet there’s so much choice

MrsMidge0505 · 03/03/2019 10:33

Hi @Mayjane5
There was so much to see and buy! Overwhelming!
I used it for ideas and then to scour Facebook marketplace and Ebay! Love a bargain!
Having said that we chose an all terrain travel system and got car seat as we said that's was the one we want all new. Trying to get over the cost as I know it's an investment for up to 5yrs and I plan to take us on some off road adventures!!!

Jummynbean · 03/03/2019 11:25

@BeckyButterfly thank you very much, I hope everything goes well! Nice to know there are others in our situation x

@rosyedith, thank you too, let me know how you get on, I hope all goes well for you too!

@Squeakybubbles26 thank you too! Let me know how it goes, I'm kinda hoping you have a boy so you can complete the set hahaha!

@MrsMidge thank you too! Hope your scan goes well also, busy week for the mummy's of this group. I need to start going to these baby shows. We were incredibly fortunate to get a second hand cossato so that's one big expense we managed to dodge, most new travel systems are worth more than my car! Looking for a second hand white cotbed ATM, hopefully the sleigh style.

You're so lucky to be seeing kicks so soon! Time is dragging for me, feels like the further along I am, the slower time moves. Can't wait for maternity leave.

Has anyone made plans for maternity leave yet?

Mayjane5 · 03/03/2019 12:13

@Mrsmidge0505 yes it’s worth it for items that will last a while a good car seat will last years. We have a joie stages for my first will be getting another for this one. @Jummynbean hoping to work as far as I can and then take 4 months off work as we are looking to buy a house can’t really afford to be off for longer

BeckyButterfly · 03/03/2019 12:57

I still haven’t felt any movement in there! Although, for the past three mornings when I’ve woken up, my bump has been completely lop sided!! It looks really weird!

Only two days till my scan, I’m excited and nervous all at the same time. I just wish I could feel something in there to let me know things are alright.

We’ve bought our car seat, we got a Joie one which lasts till the baby is 4. It is iSize certified and Isofix and we got it for £155 so I thought that was a bargain.

Mat leave for me will be minimal. I’m a teacher and due at the very start of the summer hols so will start getting mat pay before I’m even supposed to be back to work in September. I’m hoping to stay at work till the 19th of July (due the 24th) then I should be able to stay off till after Xmas hols.

Mayjane5 · 03/03/2019 13:47

@Beckybutterfly I didn’t feel my first until about 23-24 weeks, try not to worry, I’ve just started to feel this one this week almost 19 weeks but just little flutters at first j thought it was trapped wind 😆. It would be nice to stay off work longer but circumstances are different this time, had 6 months with my first

BeckyButterfly · 03/03/2019 14:14

@Mayjane5 thank you for the reassurance 😊 it’s hard when you’ve never experienced it before. I’m the same with mat leave, wish I could take longer but the hubby is self employed so mine is the consistent wage coming in. It does mean that he can organise his work around having the baby when I go back to work so shouldn’t have any childcare costs between that and our parents 😊

Squeakybubbles26 · 03/03/2019 19:48

@Jummynbean aw thank you! It would be lovely to complete our family with one of each 😊 however I'm happy either way!

@Mayjane5 we have the joie stages and find it really good with our daughter, however find it a bit of a tight squeeze in a Ford Focus thankfully fine in my car tho! Phew! Forgot what age the car seat goes up to is it 4 or 7/8?!

@BeckyButterfly I wouldn't worry about movements with my first I only felt slight bubbles before 20 weeks and nothing proper or surreal until 24+ weeks! It all depends where the placenta is etc! It will be well worth the wait!

I love it at the moment DD is taking a lot of interest in 'baby' talking to my tummy and giving it kisses which melts my heart to say the least! Doesn't feel real at times!

GabbyGal · 05/03/2019 12:52

@Bernifal

GabbyGal · 05/03/2019 13:00

Hi ladies, so lovely to read about all the 20 week scans going well, mine is on the 14th and getting a bit nervous about it now.

@BeckyButterfly I haven’t felt anything yet either, the consultant said it could be around 24 weeks before I feel baby move.

We haven’t bought anything yet, want to get the scan out of the way first and might start picking stuff up then, all going well.

Not sure when to start maternity leave, probably around 36/37 weeks I guess? Hoping to take 10-11 months off finances permitting.

Loujonesy · 05/03/2019 15:16

Hi ladies, had 20 week scan yesterday. All is well and we haven't found out the sex as we want a surprise. Very active little bubba. Moving lots and been feeling it for a couple of weeks now. Hubby can also feel them when touching my tummy.

We have the buggy and car seat etc due to an offer on at the moment. Otherwise leaving it a while to get some more bits. Hubby busy dealing with the nursery in between working full time.
Hopefully starting maternity around first week in July... Pending bubba not coming early. Currently under consultant as I don't carry full term.

GabbyGal · 05/03/2019 15:42

Glad to hear the scan went well @loujonesy. We’re going to have a surprise too.

What buggy did you go for? I’ve started to look at them and it’s like buying a car with all the different features and attachments, not to mention the price of them! So far I like the Uppababy Vista.

Loujonesy · 05/03/2019 20:20

@GabbyGal I have got the Icandy peach and a maxi cosi seat. Everything has changed since my youngest were small. There seems to be attachments for everything mind. Very confusing. Xx

Loujonesy · 05/03/2019 20:24

@GabbyGal the buggy you are looking at is very similar to the peach. X

GabbyGal · 05/03/2019 21:53

@Loujonesy I was actually looking at the iCandy Peach online today too and thought it looked pretty similar. I’m indecisive at the best of times, pregnancy has only made me worse 😂

Bunnybaubles · 06/03/2019 00:16

Oooh so exciting hearing about everyone's scans and what everyone is having! So many baby girls!! I've got my 20 week scan on Friday, but I already found out I'm having a little girl too 😊

@GabbyGal do you have an anterior placenta? I got told at my private gender reveal scan I did and I've just started to feel movements a couple days ago, I'm 20 weeks today. I'll find out at my scan on Friday exactly where at the front the placenta is as that can affect how soon/ how much movement is felt too. I'm gutted tho, I wanted the full on kicks 😂

Wish I was getting to buy a new pram, unfortunately I'll be using DD's silver cross I bought for her last year. I don't recommend it btw, paid nearly a grand for it and it is horrific. Wheels can't handle the slightest uneven surface. Looks beautiful tho lol.

I've got 2 more assessments for uni to do then I'm free to decorate DD's bedroom, need to move her cot out my room to make way for her wee sister Grin

Londongirl03 · 06/03/2019 13:08

Hello all!
First time poster on this thread, I’m 20+4 and due 20th July 🙂
I have been told I have a right lateral placenta (it’s on front and back) and haven’t felt much movement yet. Feeling a couple of small thumps over on the left but not much. Just wondering does anyone else have the placenta there? X

GabbyGal · 06/03/2019 13:38

@Bunnybaubles I’ve been wondering about that, I haven’t been told anything about where the placenta is but based on what the consultant said about how it could be 24 weeks before I feel anything maybe o so have an anterior placenta and she just forgot to mention it! I have my scan next Thursday so I’ll ask then.
