@Mayjane5 I got my 20 week scan appointment for 8th march. Im looking forward to it so much. Because of the anterior placenta i can't feel my baby move, so it'll be reassuring to see baby is ok and wriggling around just fine. Apparently I've not to expect to feel movement until after 20 weeks! So apart from the awful cramps I get under my bump I don't really feel pregnant.

Bunnybaubles · 18/02/2019 19:49

@Mayjane5 sorry, meant to ask, what's the NIPT test?

Mayjane5 · 19/02/2019 03:56

@Bunnybaubles yes same here don’t really feel pregnant as such a few twinges here and there. The NIPT is a non invasive prenatal test instead of having an amniocentesis one, 12 week tests came back as high risk for chromosomal conditions like downs/Edwards/pateu it’s a blood test so no harm to baby. Fingers crossed everything is ok.

Loujonesy · 19/02/2019 20:17

How is everyone? I have been busy moving house sorry and missed updates. Hope all is okay with everyone. We heard our baby heartbeat on Valentine's Day ❤️ and have our 20 week scan on the 4th March. Can feel the little wriggler lots which is lovely. Git to see consultant as don't carry full term and my one twin was classed as small ( in England but not in Wales ) and as the consultants are based in England I have to go with their guidelines 😞.

Bunnybaubles · 20/02/2019 15:33

@Mayjane5 it's good that have a non invasive alternative, I hope it all goes ok. I meant to message back yesterday but me and my 8 month old DD both came down with a stomach bug at the same time!

We spent the day taking turns holding each other's hair back 😂 She was worse than me, was such a shame, she couldn't understand why mummy wouldn't feed her 😢. We are both much better today tho. We must have picked the bug up from the shopping centre baby changing room. We hadn't left the house for days prior. I usually take her into the disabled toilet and hang her over the toilet as she normally uses the potty but went to baby change room for quickness, guess it's what I get for being lazy ☹

Mayjane5 · 20/02/2019 19:44

@Bunnybaubles yes it’s great they can do these things now which are more advanced, although it’s not cheap. Oh no hope you feel better soon I guess being pregnant lowers your immunity, I try and stay away from anyone who even mentions they feel ill. Wow so you’ll have a 1 year old when baby is due more or less will be nice to see them grow up so close ☺️

Majabzzzz · 20/02/2019 22:01

Hello everyone. I am new to pregnancies and Mumsnet :) I am pregnant with the first child, due the 29th of July 😍 Hope you are are all well! Xx

BeckyButterfly · 20/02/2019 22:12

@Majabzzzz I’m due the 24th with my first 😊

Mayjane5 · 21/02/2019 07:28

@Majabzzzz hello welcome hope you are doing well how was your first trimester? I am due 29th too ☺️ x

MrsMidge0505 · 21/02/2019 10:48

Hi everyone.
I'm lucky ticking along nicely but having to eat prunes 😖🤣 to help things along otherwise all good!
@rosyedith @BeckyButterfly
No inkling of any pram type or brand! Went to look at an Mothercare outlet - rookie mistake! Got a baby show next week though so that should help.

Also not going to get a Doppler. Would resther just wait, our midwife said they can be hard to find so I'd rather not scare myself! My bump is small so I think it's right up there so I think would be hard to find 🤣!

MrsMidge0505 · 21/02/2019 10:50

On a side note...... is anyone having a baby shower / celebration/ get together?

If so who is helping you do it, or have someone took on the job without asking?

GabbyGal · 21/02/2019 13:40

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well. I’m 17+5 today. Nausea is finally starting to subside, it’s a lot less frequent anyway. Haven’t felt any movement yet but have an obvious bump!

Sorry to hear you were sick @Bunnybaubles, hope you and DD are feeling better now.

Welcome @Majabzzzz, I’m due two days before you 😊

@MrsMidge0505 I love prunes! 😂 I must be the only person in the world who likes them! I have my friends warned against throwing me a baby shower, I personally just am not into them, but each to their own. But I might try get some friends together for lunch or something close to my due date just to spend time with them before baby arrives.

BeckyButterfly · 21/02/2019 16:32

I’m not a fan of baby showers just because they leave out the dad which I don’t like. Instead we have agreed to have a “Welcome to the World” party during the summer so that family who live further away can all come up to meet the bean when she’s here 😊 rather than just getting to see a fat, swollen and probably grumpy me!! 😂 I did talk about going out for afternoon tea or something with the ladies I am closest to before the birth but not sure about that yet.

Mayjane5 · 22/02/2019 13:34

@Mrsmidge0505 not having a shower as this is my second, but did with my first. Also went to one recently which was everyone invited to not just ladies and it was lovely 😊 I think it’s a nice idea to have everyone together to celebrate as you may not get a chance to see everyone for a while once baby is here

Jummynbean · 22/02/2019 17:18

I've decided I'm going to have a 'hello world' party too, as I'm sure that by then I'll know what we need and we are likely going to have a gender reveal so I think a baby shower on top will be a bit much!

GabbyGal · 22/02/2019 18:48

@BeckyButterfly I love that idea!

BeckyButterfly · 22/02/2019 18:51

@GabbyGal I just know that if invited our down south relatives to a baby shower they probably wouldn’t come because they’ll want to come to actually see the baby. Two birds, one stone and all that!

Mayjane5 · 24/02/2019 19:39

What is everyone up to this week? Does anyone have any recommendations for a pregnancy pillow I’m sure I’m going to need one this time. Also looking at belly support bands are they worth it? Seen some cheap ones and some £70 is it worth spending that much?

BeckyButterfly · 24/02/2019 19:47

@Mayjane5 back to work this week after having half term off. Dreading getting up in the morning! I bought a 9ft pregnancy pillow from Amazon for £20 but I would say you are better buying a more expensive one if you can afford it. I was a bit skint so could only really get that one but I reckon there are better ones out there.

Mayjane5 · 24/02/2019 20:44

@BeckyButterfly I’m trying to save money at the moment so any offers about would be great I always forget about amazon, I stocked up on nappies last time from there they would appear every now and again very cheaply.

Loujonesy · 24/02/2019 21:08

So I've ordered my buggy etc. I'm 18 weeks today but there was £200 off it so I thought best had 😁. Got 20 week scan a week on Monday but not finding out the sex X

BeckyButterfly · 24/02/2019 21:13

@Loujonesy we are having this issue. I wanted to wait till after my 20 week scan to buy our pram but it is on offer and knowing my luck the offer will end before we have our scan 😂 our scan is only a week on Tuesday so fingers crossed.

@Mayjane5 my pillow is alright but it could do with being a bit firmer to support my legs.

Loujonesy · 25/02/2019 07:39

@BeckyButterfly it was a difficult choice here too. Which one are you looking at? X

BeckyButterfly · 25/02/2019 07:47

@Loujonesy we’ve decided on the Oyster 3.

Loujonesy · 25/02/2019 11:38

@BeckyButterfly they look good. It's crazy how buggies have changed since mine were small 🙈. X
