No sickness = boy? Any truth in this?

Hi all,

I was told today that lack of morning/noon/night sickness usually means you're having a boy. I'm 8+4 with my first baby and desperate for a girl (if we're having a boy I'll be delighted as long as he's healthy).

Does anyone know how much truth there is in this theory? I get ocasional, mild waves of nausea but not been sick or anyhting close. Two friends have said they're convinced we're having a boy on that basis! Your thoughts please?

I've had no nausea at all. Currently 20 weeks with a girl. My mum also had no nausea in any of her pregnancies and had 3 girls. I think it's just luck sometimes haha

fairiedemon · 27/10/2018 19:20

I threw up for 35 weeks straight and had a boy. Envy

AussieMum28 · 27/10/2018 19:21

Nope! Was sick as a dog for 18 weeks and I'm having a little boy in Jan x

FiresideTreats · 27/10/2018 19:21

Er, no. Not for me. I was sick every day until he was born.

isittheholidaysyet · 27/10/2018 19:21

Nope.

StripyDeckchair · 27/10/2018 19:21

Horribly sick until 20 weeks and I had a boy.

Rarfy · 27/10/2018 19:22

Never had any sickness with my son. Not having any with my daughter. Just complete nausea all day long with both.

Only things i noticed different - with my son i just couldnt breath through.my nose. If i pushed the tip of it up i got a good breath but other than that it was always stuffy.

With my daughter the driest sorest lips up until about a month ago. 26+4 today.

Doghorsechicken · 27/10/2018 19:22

I had morning sickness (all day) for 18 weeks & had a boy.

Echobelly · 27/10/2018 19:22

Nope, I've had a girl and a boy, and fortunately a total of one real day of morning sickness with each.

Notmorewashing · 27/10/2018 19:22

It’s more about your own tolerance than sex.

I was sick as a dog 4-29 wks constantly - boy

theoriginalpineappletart · 27/10/2018 19:22

I was sick from before the positive test at 5 weeks right through until labour. I had a boy.

SoyDora · 27/10/2018 19:23

I have two girls, minimal sickness with them both. This pregnancy has been horrific... severe sicknsss until 20 weeks. It’s a boy.

NerrSnerr · 27/10/2018 19:23

I was sick for 35 weeks straight with my boy as well. Was only sick for 20 weeks with my girl. I'm not trying again to see what the next one does to me.

ShackUp · 27/10/2018 19:23

Why desperate for a girl?

I have two (beautiful, amazing) boys. No sickness with either of them.

Bluntness100 · 27/10/2018 19:23

I never had any sickness and had a girl.

Believeitornot · 27/10/2018 19:24

No.

I had morning sickness with ds.

There’s no definitive way of knowing until you have the scan! There are only two options.

Squiff70 · 27/10/2018 19:25

Ha! Thanks everyone! Interesting stories :)

BettyOBarley · 27/10/2018 19:26

No it wasn't true for me.

I didn't have sickness with either DC. 1 girl and 1 boy.

My friend had no sickness the first time and hyperemesis the second time and hers are both girls.

Dacresmallwilly · 27/10/2018 19:27

The science says that overall, women with nausea and vomiting in pregnancy are slightly more likely to be having a girl. But this is population-wide data so obviously there will be women with sickness who have a boy and women without sickness who have a girl.

Squiff70 · 27/10/2018 19:27

ShackUp, good question and the honest nswer is I don't know. It's been my dream since a child to have a daughter one day. I'd LOVE a son too, FWIW :)

I was sick with both but much sicker with my girl. No idea if that was a coincidence. Also, it was a comparison between my 2 pregnancies so would have been impossible to tell with my first.

LinoleumBlownapart · 27/10/2018 19:32

I have 4.
Nausea and threw up a couple of times before 12 weeks = boy
Only nausea for 12 weeks = girl
No nausea but threw up once at 10 weeks = boy
Nausea but no vomiting but nausea lasted 40 weeks = boy

Sj76201 · 27/10/2018 19:33

No sickness in either pregnancy and had 2 girls!

randomsabreuse · 27/10/2018 19:34

Had no sickness at all with DD. More nauseous with baby boy due soon...

wonkylegs · 27/10/2018 19:35

Nope sorry
