No sickness = boy? Any truth in this?

Hi all,

I was told today that lack of morning/noon/night sickness usually means you're having a boy. I'm 8+4 with my first baby and desperate for a girl (if we're having a boy I'll be delighted as long as he's healthy).

Does anyone know how much truth there is in this theory? I get ocasional, mild waves of nausea but not been sick or anyhting close. Two friends have said they're convinced we're having a boy on that basis! Your thoughts please?

DS - 'morning' nausea, sick every morning from about 8 weeks till 2nd trimester.

DD - all day nausea, sick 2-3 times a day from 5 weeks till halfway through the 2nd trimester.

When they're finally, safely in your arms, believe me...you will not care in any way what's in between their legs.

Sorry, I can't help you OP. I had dreadful hyperemesis 24/7 with both mine - both ds's. Sickness was so severe that I spent roughly half of each pregnancy in hospital on a drip. The only days I wasn't sick were the days they were born.

I’ve never had sickness, morning or otherwise, and have three girls. The Duchess of Cambridge has had HG and two of her three children are boys; her sister has said how she didn’t suffer from sickness and also has a boy.

BabySharkDooDooDooDoo · 27/10/2018 21:11

I had no morning sickness i only had 2 days of sickness which were illness related. I didnt have any cravings and i had a boy

blackflyinyourchardonnay0 · 27/10/2018 21:13

Definitely no truth in it. Sorry if not what you want to hear.

Hermie12 · 27/10/2018 21:24

No nausea at all for me and had a daughter

tillytoodles1 · 27/10/2018 21:26

Sick as a dog with a boy and a girl.

fuzzywuzzy · 27/10/2018 21:28

Really sick HG sick = girl
Nauseaous no sickness = girl
No sickness = girl
No sickness, gagging when brushing teeth and dry heaving = girl

TwllBach · 27/10/2018 21:29

I haven’t RTFT but I snorted so hard when I read the title. 2.5 yo DS and I was sick as fuck until 32 weeks. All day, every day. Some of my finer moments:

  • screeching to a halt in a farmers field during my morning commute to vomit outside the gate in full view of said farmer on his tractor
  • vomiting in the Scottish Highland Zoo when I went to visit DP while he was working up there
  • meeting DPs aunt for the first time by barging past her at the front door of her own house in search of a bathroom to throw up in.

Good times.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 27/10/2018 21:29

So I think we're agreed there's no link at all 🤣

MashNpeas · 27/10/2018 21:31

No sickness - girl

Slappinthebass · 27/10/2018 21:36

I was very sick with my girls and boy. You aren't out of the woods yet, often it doesn't kick in until 10-12 weeks.

Accountant222 · 27/10/2018 21:37

Not true, I was violently sick with my Son

Spankyoumuchly · 27/10/2018 21:40

I had no morning sickness and I had two boys. I had gruesome heartburn with ds2 and he was born with a full head of hair. Apparently the hair gives you heartburn.

Thesearmsofmine · 27/10/2018 21:41

Three boys here

  1. A bit of sickness in the first trimester

  2. sick every day until born

  3. not sick at all

headstone · 27/10/2018 21:43

It was true for me, both boys I had no sickness with. With my daughter I felt sick for 9 months and actually lost weight. Very different pregnancies indeed.

SillySallySingsSongs · 27/10/2018 21:43

Not sure the Duchess of Cambridge would agree.

carly2803 · 27/10/2018 22:13

I threw up from 6 weeks to 18 - morning noon and night,

its a boy :D

jaychops · 27/10/2018 22:33

Probably not true overall but it was the case for me. Horrendous sickness with DD until 18 weeks and nauseous throughout. Nothing at all with current pregnancy (35 weeks with DS). Couldn't be more different!

NisekoWhistler · 27/10/2018 22:34

I threw up until the day I gave birth with my boy!

BikeRunSki · 27/10/2018 22:35

I suffered from hyoerenisus and was hospitalised several times in both my pregnancies. I have a boy and a girl.

A colleague had not Sickness or nausea at all in either of her pregnancies. She also has s boy and a girl.

teenybean · 27/10/2018 22:39

I had sickness with ds, none with either dd, so I'm afraid it's a load of old bollocks!

tasharichford · 27/10/2018 22:39

I had no sickness whatsoever when pregnant with my son but had nausea when pregnant with daughter. Am now 28 weeks pregnant with another girl and again the constant nausea has been unreal.

User1983 · 27/10/2018 22:44

I had the worst sickness for 20 weeks and everyone said 'oh you must be having a girl'. I now have a baby boy! Only my mum said it would be a boy as she only had sickness with my brother and not with me or my sister. So, could well be a boy!

BengalLioness · 27/10/2018 22:48

I had the worst sickness ever with a boy - lasted a good 5-6 months
