Hey, I’ve just found out I’m pregnant and that I’ll be due in May. I’ve had 4 miscarriages and have no children so I’m really nervous! It’s still really early but would love to talk to other people due in May. Even though I know it’s still really early and lots of people may not know their due date yet!

Hello! I’m really late to the party, (then again I was never on time for anything!) I’m due late May, and it’s still all a big secret right now, so it’s hard to talk to people about how I’m feeling, which is just nauseous (only threw up twice!)
The big thing right now is telling my mum and sister that I’m pregnant (I don’t have a really good relationship with either)
Any advice on how to tell (difficult people) would be great :)
Also, anyone else can stand the smell of meat? Or cooking for that matter??
Lots of love hope your all doing great today!

Katekatekate1529 · 05/11/2018 14:54

@preggo Congratulations, you’ve done so well keeping this a secret. I’m sorry it’s going to be difficult for you to tell your Mum and Sister. My advice would be to approach it like ‘I thought you would like to know I’m pregnant’ get straight to the point. Whatever their reaction your first prioiriry is you health, good luck x

everythingisnew · 05/11/2018 15:11

@Katekatekate1529 congratulations!

@PregoBaker congratulations! My advice on telling 'difficult' people is no different to telling those who you know will be really happy for you. It's an exciting time for you, and it's a time to be selfish (I've learned that the hard way... I didn't get the reaction I expected from my parents because they were wrapped up in other things). Sharing the news is such a special moment... only my parents and sister in law know at the moment. So, I would say, don't worry and don't try to dress it up... let them know you are pregnant and happy/scared/excited (however you feel) and would love for them to support you.

@PregoBaker

I'm in a similar situation got bad reception from the people I have told and not looking forward to telling the people I haven't but I just say it as a fact "just to let you know I'm pregnant" as others have said and then let them say their piece.

All my kids have been surprises and I get the "are you sure you shouldn't terminate" crap as been bad timing in some ways but if I'm happy eventually they warm to the idea.

Everybody loves a baby!

Iswallowtoothpaste · 05/11/2018 15:40

@preggo congratulations! I can’t stand the thought of cooking either! In fact, the thought of eating led me feel queasy but once I’m actually eating I’m ok.

I’m due 1st of June by my dates so a bit behind you (thought I’d join this thread too as it could be either or) and I haven’t told my mum yet either. It’s not that we don’t have a good relationship but I had a MMC last time after telling her about the pregnancy at 7 weeks and she was horrible, blamed the M/C on me and my weight which really put me in a bad place. Haven’t told any friends either as last time my best friend couldn’t keep her mouth shut and I hated having to deal with sympathetic stares so she can wait till after the 12 week scan too!

PregoBaker · 05/11/2018 15:44

Thank you for the kind words! OH just says to not worry about other people,
(silly mans always right) BlushI never said that!
I think I will wait till I have my scan next week and then let them know.
But I know you'd are right and just stating as a fact is probably best, and hopefully my scan goes alright!
Thank again xx

PregoBaker · 05/11/2018 15:59

@Iswallowtoothpaste the cooking thing is actually really difficult! I hate my kitchen now, I'm a baker normally and that I'm ok with, it's savoury cooking I'm REALLY struggling with, but totally relate to you!
That's terrible about your mum (just want to give you a hug now) but I can understand the daunting feeling you have!
Hope your feeling well today and multi vits are a god send! Grin
Xxx

Iswallowtoothpaste · 05/11/2018 20:26

@prego yes it’s savoury here too! I seem to feel dreadful whilst cooking it but ok once im actually eating it which I find odd! The sickness and nausea has really peaked for me this last couple of days!

Bless you, I try and tell myself that it came from a place of good when she said it. However, I would never dream of telling her that the reason she has had two hip replacements and two knee replacements at the age of 52 is because she’s starved herself for years to look good for her chauvenistic, bellend of a husband.

Oh off on a tangent!! Are you craving sweet stuff more?

bumblebee39 · 05/11/2018 20:37

I don't get it though

Cooking it had me retching but ate two full bowls of beef stew 🙄

Wish I could afford take away constantly!

PregoBaker · 05/11/2018 20:53

@Iswallowtoothpaste I think I'm actually in the same boat as you! My mum decided to book surgery the day before my wedding and couldn't eat anything on the day! But those are tangents for another day!
Your doing well now and focus on you and the little one
@bumblebee39
And don't get me started, first few weeks it was bacon, then that became red meat and I've only just went back to a little meat now. But still can't stand the smell of cooking food! Thankfully OH is really trying to step up with the cooking, I just feel bad I can't even stand in the kitchen and talk to him.
Xxx

bumblebee39 · 05/11/2018 21:05

@PregoBaker my ex cooked for me last time...

I used to puke every time he presented me with breakfast but dinner helped!

Currently our menu is either meat and gravy based or covered in cheese or cheese sauce depending what the offending item is that day. Can never eat meat and cheese at the same time- unheard of for me. Lived off fish with my boy and meat and cheese with my girl so think this will be a girl although am not finding out...

bumblebee39 · 05/11/2018 21:05

Could no more eat bacon than fly in the air!

CeeCee88 · 08/11/2018 11:17

@bumblebee39 have you managed to sort out your booking in appointment with the midwife yet?

bumblebee39 · 08/11/2018 23:17

@CeeCee88 next week and waiting for scan X

CeeCee88 · 09/11/2018 07:12

@bumblebee39 yay! Glad they've finally gotten back to you! :)

bumblebee39 · 09/11/2018 07:30

I know @CeeCee88
I wanted to wait until after the scan to tell anyone pretty sure this is going to be twins now so would like to know. They do run in my family X

insideoutoutsidein · 09/11/2018 08:50

Hello Everyone! Sorry, I too am late to the party Grin

I had my scan on Monday and baby was really chilled out to the point that I had to ask if baby was OK. Smile

Does anyone else hate this part after the scan, when you can't quite feel the baby yet and all your pregnancy symptoms are almost gone and there are no checkups until about week 20 and you're not sure what's going on in there?

Katekatekate1529 · 09/11/2018 12:51

@insideoutoutsidein yes I know, I wish I could have a scan everyday for an update. You are lucky you’re symptoms have gone, I wish mine would. What is your dd?

insideoutoutsidein · 09/11/2018 13:17

@katekatekate1529 Unfortunately I spoke too soon, I still have that sickly feeling and I am still hungry all the time. But I am seeing it as a blessing, almost like if I still have symptoms then everything must still be OK.

My DD is 13th May. When they did the scan at 12 weeks they found out that I was actually ahead by a few days. What is your DD?

everythingisnew · 09/11/2018 15:15

I had my 12 week scan today (I'm 12+3 which is bang on what I thought). Baby was wriggling away and moving arms and legs and making the sonographer's job difficult lol Grin

I can't begin to tell you the happiness that scan brings!!! After a few weeks of constant nausea and vomiting, my symptoms (apart from tiredness) disappeared this week. I'm not complaining at all but it did make me so anxious waiting until the scan day.

Hoping everyone is feeling ok today x

Lorrie3 · 09/11/2018 17:54

Hapoy to report i too had my 12 week scan today and 12+2 confirmed! So happy to see a super active baby same as you @everythingisnew arms and legs going all over the place.
I am beyond relived and feel on top of the world! We had some date confusion so hapoy all that is put to bed and I feel I can start to enjoy things a small bit!

Katekatekate1529 · 09/11/2018 18:41

@insideoutoutsidein Just a couple of days after mine, I’m the 11th May :) I will be 14 weeks tomorrow which is second trimester, hopefully some rest bite to come from this awful sickness and tiredness. I hope you begin to feel a bit better soon too, it would make this pregnancy lark a lot more enjoyable.

Tayel · 11/11/2018 10:36

Ladies are any of you struggling with bad skin from your pregnancy?
My face looks terrible! Has anyone found anything that works for them to help clear it and keep it spot free? X

momoa80 · 14/11/2018 19:37

@Tayel, my skin is shocking! I never usually get spots but I've had loads the past few weeks. Must be hormones?

Is anyone else a bit crampy? I'm 13 weeks and been a bit niggly today on and off, infact the past few days. Guessing everything stretching.

Sparkles1992 · 14/11/2018 22:20

Hi all, anyone found out the sex yet? I find out tomorrow I'm so excited! I'm due 7th May with first baby x
