Hey, I’ve just found out I’m pregnant and that I’ll be due in May. I’ve had 4 miscarriages and have no children so I’m really nervous! It’s still really early but would love to talk to other people due in May. Even though I know it’s still really early and lots of people may not know their due date yet!

@bumblebee39 I've said to my OH that if it's twins I will not be surprised at all. Just because how how bad his has been compared to my previous pregnancies. Plus I'm really starting to take a different shape, not a chance am I getting into any jeans anymore. I bet I'm about same size now as I was with my second by around 16 weeks. Weight gain high too it's just starting to level a bit now. I'm only 9 weeks.

bumblebee39 · 25/10/2018 22:49

Just googled it and I'm measuring 26cm (normally fairly slim and my body is already taking on that pregnancy curve can't wear jeans etc.)
Dates are definitely right. WTAF?!

CeeCee88 · 30/10/2018 11:18

@bumblebee39 I'm sure you'll find out at your first scan regardless. :)

When are you booked in for it?
I've also heard that you look "pregnant" faster if you've had kids before (I can't speak from experience however).

Iswallowtoothpaste · 30/10/2018 11:40

Ooohhhhh can’t wait to see if you’re right 😁

bumblebee39 · 30/10/2018 11:51

@CeeCee88

Not found out yet midwife is useless haven't even spoken to her yet just left answer machine messages 🙄

CeeCee88 · 30/10/2018 16:55

@bumblebee39 maybe try calling your GP instead? I think they can sort you out with a referral to the Midwife as well...
I just had to call up a number and they gave me my booking in appointment and scan appointment right there and then over the phone. The physical letters arrived about a week after.

Noodella18 · 30/10/2018 17:18

Had my 12 week scan today and all went really well, the baby was measuring bang on what I thought it was, 12+1 and saw the heart beating, two hemispheres of the brain, all the limbs and fingers and the umbilical cord. Really cool and very relieved :)

Just wondered how much weight you ladies have put on? I weighed in at 68kg which is 10st10, so I've gained around 3-4lb during first twelve weeks. This is normal apparently but I'm freaking out a bit, it makes me feel out of control. I know I'm going over 2000 kcals a day but I feel so nauseous still and eating is the only thing that helps. Have been having lots of fruit and stuff, but the only thing that seems to make a difference is a proper meal rather than a snack, so have been having 4 meals per day! Eek!

Lilbear14 · 30/10/2018 18:40

@Noodella18 I was 10 stone 10 and I've gained 8lbs. It does keep going up and down though and it's slowly levelling out a little bit. I was gutted when I stepped on scales a few weeks ago.
I'm only coming up to 10 weeks and thought I was being good with food and stuff :/

Noodella18 · 30/10/2018 19:33

@lilbear 8lb isn't that much and it's good that it's levelling off, I guess everyone develops stuff at different rates too so you'll probably even out over the whole pregnancy.

Thinking about it, my boobs have gone up two cup sizes and apparently pregnant ladies produce a whole load of additional blood and my socks have been leaving marks on my ankles so I think I'm a bit puffy too - all of this stuff adds weight right?

Lilbear14 · 30/10/2018 19:37

@Noodella18 yes it does. My boobs have gone up three cup sizes. My OH loves it...actually fascinated by it.
I have a "bulky" womb anyway, so I'm wondering if some of mine is something to do with that. Before I fell pregnant I used to measure my gut with string...and I found it the other day and I've only expanded 1 inch but feels so much more, especially my weight. My OH says I look absolutely no different and it's all in my head. My stumach is just firming up a little bit.

bumblebee39 · 30/10/2018 19:49

@CeeCee88

I was told that I had to self refer it was the GP who gave me the number they said they couldn't do it I had to

Noodella18 · 30/10/2018 19:51

@lilbear ahh it's nice that your OH is being supportive, mine is being lovely too (and just took me out for Thai food because I was feeling so miserable). Three cup sizes is mental! My partner would probably be very pleased too if I was even remotely interested in having sex at the moment! All I want to do is crawl under the covers and die, I feel so shit! Sounds like your weight gain is all internal which is exciting, important things going on in there!

bumblebee39 · 30/10/2018 19:52

11+1 if the calculator is to be trusted

Put on the half a stone I lost a few months back when my ED was bad but look about 6 months pregnant, got a round tummy and my boobs are giant in my breastfeeding and maternity bras 😂 already!

Had an early scan at 2/3 weeks which said I was 2/3 weeks roughly so know the dates are right...

Lilbear14 · 30/10/2018 20:04

I've got a really high sex drive at the moment, and my OH's seemed to have increased aswell!
He's been an absolute gem. We don't live together yet and because of work and distance and so on we only really see each other over the weekend. But I've been struggling with it at the moment. Feel like I need him with me holding my hand constantly.

buntingandstarcharts · 30/10/2018 20:09

Wow @Lilbear14 lucky partner you have! We have had sex twice since I've known I'm pregnant and it's been hard to switch off from the paranoia of 'us everything ok with that big thing prodding away'... 🤣🤣 I also had some quite heavy CM (sorry toooooo much informations and absolutely vile!) after having sex and convinced myself that I've caused issues with the baby 😳😳😳

cakelovers · 31/10/2018 23:04

Hey all, can I join this thread?

I am due 24 May 2019 with my first baby. For various reasons I've already had 3 scans (!), two at 6 weeks and one at 8+4 weeks when they showed me little bean and its tiny heartbeat! We have decided to tell our families asap after the 12 week scan next week. I'm finding it hard not to tell everyone I know but I'm also a bit nervous about being sidelined at work as soon as they know I'm pregnant.

So far main issues have been a general aversion to meat and eating lots of simple carbs and sugary things. I'm hoping there is still time to improve my diet and get back on the vegetable-wagon.

My main question is - how do you find time to cook proper food and how do you get more veggies into your day? The best I've managed recently is buying soup from the supermarket for dinner.

bumblebee39 · 01/11/2018 06:17

Cake lovers I have HG so only manage one proper meal a day so I always make it with three veggies. Pasta with cheese sauce and leeks, sweetcorn, broccoli and/or peas is a fave.

I also am trying to nibble on cucumber in the day and cold sugar snap peas x

bumblebee39 · 01/11/2018 06:18

Instead of the crackers I'm craving!

frankiefumbles · 01/11/2018 07:36

@cakelovers I don't think it's unusual to crave carbs.

@bumblebee39 part of the reason I'm not eating veggies is laziness in cooking but that sounds really yummy and it just triggered my mind - because on the frozen counter they have those small micro packs of mini cut frozen veg and I think that would be rather nice with a cheesey sauce. I'm a big believer cheese sauce has to be good for you too 😂 I've been cheating all over the place on cooking and I've never ever eaten as much frozen pizza as I have in the last fortnight. And I'm consoling myself that baked beans are good for me...lols

Iswallowtoothpaste · 01/11/2018 08:36

@cakelovers we’re not telling our family or friends until after the 12 week scan either. I usually tell my best friend everything and it’s been soooo hard to keep this from her. I’ve actually been avoiding her a bit just so I don’t accidentally let it slip! She must think I’m being a right cow!

With regards to more veggies etc and finding time to cook, I’m struggling too. I just don’t have the desire to start cooking a meal anymore. The thought of it makes me feel pretty queasy. I’m just trying to snack on fruit as and when. Can’t say I’ve been craving much but my appetite has about halved from what it was! Seem to be feel full so much quicker too.

Noodella18 · 01/11/2018 08:45

@cakelovers I have been batch cooking one-pot stuff when I can face it - like the other day I made a chickpea and squash tagine which involved hurling onion, garlic, squash, peppers, courgette, cumin, coriander and paprika into a pan, letting it fry for 5 mins, then chucking in passata, tomato purée, dried apricots, a splash of water and a tin each of chickpeas and lentils, putting the lid on and letting it bubble for 45 mins. It made loads, like 8 portions, and we had it with cous cous and a dollop of yoghurt so really quick to prepare. We had it a couple of nights and froze the rest in portions. It took about 15 mins to sort out all the veg but once it was in the pan there was nothing much to do and it means you get loads of veg in each meal.

Having said that, I’ve also been eating a lot of wotsits, baked beans, cheese on toast and Thai takeaways, so not all virtuous!!

Noodella18 · 01/11/2018 09:00

Oh yeah, the other thing that has worked for me is salad from those ready prepared bags, pimped up with tomatoes and maybe a grated carrot. The sharp dressing makes me feel less sick.

cakelovers · 01/11/2018 09:15

Thanks @Noodella18, @bumblebee39 and @iswallowtoothpaste, really good tips!

everythingisnew · 01/11/2018 10:07

Just need to vent ladies.

I have had pretty constant nausea since about week 7, but the vomiting was minimal... generally if I made the bus commute (1hr 45m each way) to work.

However, I have been off work all of this week... nausea, vomiting (though this has almost stopped fingers crossed), teary, headaches, constant fatigue. It started on Sunday with the worst day of keeping no food or fluids down and ending up so dehydrated.

My boss at work has been texting asking where I am, even though I text on Sunday evening to explain. I never have time off work. I'm self-certifying this week. But oh the stress... work want me back to do a million and one things.

However, I still have the nausea, headaches, constant fatigue and little to no appetite. I am so stressed about whether baby is ok (I haven't had 12 week scan yet), and a million other things (trying to sell houses and buy one, family conflict).

I rang the doctors this morning and explained that I was off sick this week (pregnancy related) and that I still feel awful and will be unable to go back on Monday (given the travel to/from work making things worse, 13 hour days, and the commitments whilst at work). The receptionist was frankly horrible... she said I can self-certify this week (I know!!!) and if I need longer I have to see a dr... Of course I asked to make an appointment to see a dr to which she said we don't have any available appointments and to call back tomorrow or Monday and they should get me in on Tuesday..... she made me feel completely stupid for calling and that I wasn't worthy of an appointment.

I never take unnecessary time off work and have only ever been signed off work once (not in this job) after eye surgery.

Am I bonkers to be angry and upset or have I said the wrong thing??
