Hi all, so I've only just found out I'm pregnant! 3.5 weeks so still early on but looking for others in the same stages as me. Marginally terrified, apprehensive and anxious but majorly excited for my journey with little bean!

That's great news all round @Springmummy19! Really pleased for you.

I got the dreamgenii pillow a couple of weeks back and I love it. They make such a difference don't they?

Went away last week and I stopped getting the horrendous shooting ligament pain in my back. (It still ached, but not in the same way.) First day in the office yesterday and it's back with a vengeance, so it's definitely sitting upright for so long that's the problem. ☹️

Blgb · 29/01/2019 11:52

Hi my growth scan went fine they were panicking about nothing he has a big head and a big belly and normal legs (like his dad 😂)
I haven't tried any of the pillows or belts cos I'm quite lucky to not have those pains, I just have that in my groin and I don't think there's much they can do with that!
Got my 29 week midwife appointment today that I had to cancel last week, feels like we are there every week!

Springmummy19 · 29/01/2019 12:34

@ChaosMoon are you taking regular breaks at work? I have to get up every 20 mins or so to either go to the loo or just go for a walk round the office to help my back. Also have you had a risk assessment done art work? It might be that you need a different chair?

@Blgb Aww glad it all went well. Tell me about it! I had an appointment for the GD yesterday, got the 28 weeks bloods tomorrow then 28 week scan on Friday, I get frustrated that I turn up on time yet I sometimes still have to wait 30/40 minutes and not to mention the cost of the car park. Dont get me wrong, it's wonderful that I'm getting to see bubba a few more times in pregnancy but I don't know when I'm coining or going now.

When do you guys start mat leave?

Blgb · 29/01/2019 18:03

All good at the appointment I think I'm free now for a couple of weeks (apart from the whooping cough jab next week)
I'm not finishing work until the start of 37 weeks as I'm only having 6 months off so want as long as possible with baby. That's if I make it that far!
What about everyone else?

Unicorn234 · 29/01/2019 19:14

Hey guys glad to hear everyone is okay. Had a little scare yesterday, hadn't felt him move so went got told to go to day assessment. After a growth scan, thankfully everything was fine.

My last working day is 15th march.. I CANT WAIT!! 😂💙 counting down the days lol xx

ChaosMoon · 30/01/2019 05:58

@Unicorn234 how frightening for you. I'm so glad everything's ok.

That must be such a relief @Blgb. I know what you mean about the number of appointments. Sometimes I feel like I live at the hospital. It's what's stopping me seeing someone about my back...

@Springmummy19 I've had a risk assessment and my chair is amazing. I probably do need to move more -probably getting up every 45 minutes so far but that's already really disruptive. Not that anyone else minds, but a) I love my job and b) I'd rather get it done and home early.

I finish in the 13th of Match but am using leave to take me down to three day weeks at the end of Feb. It feels so soon! What a about you Springmummy19?

Springmummy19 · 30/01/2019 15:13

Hello mommas

Saw the midwife today, she took blood, checked my urine, measured the belly and listened to baby's heartbeat. all looks good. baby's head is down which is where it should be at this stage. Cant wait to see bubba on Friday

@Blgb that jab really hurt my arm, the flu one wasn't too bad but the whooping cough one left me with a dead arm for a few days, then again thats probably all the blood they keep taking from it.

@Unicorn234 Aww glad to hear all was okay, baby was probably just having a long nap.

@ChaosMoon Which I can understand, I clock watch because I just want to get out asap as well but I feel like time does seem to fly now

I'm leaving 1st of March, All of March will be holiday and then mat will start 1st of April. I did plan to stay on until April but I live 25 miles away from work and the average 10/11 hours commute each week is killing me now. SO I thought its better to be safe and make sure I'm as close to home as possible in the coming weeks. Plus we still need to get the bedroom re arranged and I feel like nesting mode is kicking in HARD. My whole kitchen is getting a clear out and clean up this weekend

Clare4567 · 30/01/2019 21:18

Wow @Springmummy19 so exciting that you will be off soon. 25 miles is so far! I'm leaving it very late but my work are quite understanding - they paid for a cab this morning because I was worried about slipping on the ice that didn't happen.

I'm in mega nesting mode too. My friend painted a 'family tree' on her baby's wall with pictures of the family so I want to do something like that. Keeping everything else very plain & simple. Also I've pretty much stopped caring about work, except doing a good job day to day and having an easy life!

ChaosMoon · 31/01/2019 07:40

@Clare4567 That's such a great idea! I may also steal it... Your work sound lovely. You're very lucky there.

That's really exciting @ Springmummy19. I don't blame you not wanting that commute. Mine is also an hour each way, though a lot closer. (Bloody London. Every journey is an hour.) It's an easy one though, and I get to read all the way. I'd definitely go earlier if I had to drive or mess about with changes though.

Springmummy19 · 31/01/2019 09:21

*@Clare4567* Wow, you're lucky they did that. Mine would just expect me to not come in but make up the time :-/

aww thats such a cool idea. ' Ha! I'm the same, I come in, do the 9-5 and then switch off once I leave although having said that, I feel like they know I'm switching off so I'm being given less and less responsibilities which is fine by me.

@chaosmoon yeah its not the easier journey, especially with me still having sickness. Have you got your 'baby on board' badge? I was so excited when mine came and hubby just didn't understand why I needed it, we used the underground over the weekend and pretty much on every journey people gave up their seat for me and he would just look at me and laugh and then said 'see you didn't even need the badge' which I guess is true but I feel like people are in such a rush that they dot always look, even when I go shopping now, I have to cover my bump in fear of people walking into me (I can no longer go to a Primark Store)

How you guys getting on with the hospital bags?

Clare4567 · 01/02/2019 18:17

@Springmummy19 @ChaosMoon I'm incredibly lucky. My work sees the bigger picture and everyone has been really supportive. I'm glad I've got pregnant while working here, rather than anywhere else I've been.

Started some nursery painting today but now in bed with a cold! Hate being ill while pregnant. I've been a bit anxious about baby movements but mainly bc I'm not good at keeping track of them so I've got the Kicks Count app which will hopefully help.

Not started hospital bag yet though I did get some oh-so-sexy disposable maternity knickers - however, I tried them on today and they're tiny! No use at all. Got about 50 pairs.

Unicorn234 · 01/02/2019 18:51

@Springmummy19 ive got my bag.. borrowed it off a friend so think I will start buying little bits and pieces as the weeks go on 😊

Blgb · 01/02/2019 20:46

I haven't started my hospital bag yet but a woman at work who just came back from maternity (3rd baby) has been giving me plenty of advice on do's and dont's and by the sound of it I'm gunna need a hospital suitcase!
He's my first so I'm all about asking stupid questions and getting as much real life advise that I can get instead of the official stuff from doctors and midwifes!

Unicorn234 · 02/02/2019 20:27

Had my 4d scan today.. So worth seeing our baby boy 💙

First babies due in April
ChaosMoon · 03/02/2019 15:21

@Springmummy19 my badge was a godsend in the first trimester, when I didn't look pregnant and felt like I would be sick on anyone if I opened my mouth to ask them to move. Now my bump is so obvious that at least half the carriage leap to their feet when I get on. People are lovely.

I know what you mean about covering your bump. It's normally ok but going into the Westend on Saturday night was nerve wracking!

I've started getting things together but they're not actually in a bag yet. I think I've got nappies (2 sizes) maternity pads, nipple cream, nappy cream (that's not what is called is it?) a sleep suit and I'm sure there's other stuff but I don't remember what!

It's anyone packing a proper maternity /nursing nightdress? I haven't worn a mighty in years, so I'm going to have to get something new.

Anyat212 · 03/02/2019 16:55

Chaos I’m the same with a nightie I haven’t had one in years! I’ve literally just bought a nightie from ASOS it is a Christmas themed one 🙄 but it was £5. It’s only got two Christmas puds on the front and it will get ruined so couldn’t justify buying anything more expensive!

I had it on last night and tbf it’s quite comfy so worth just getting one. I’m sure primark etc may have them in stock but I never really get chance to get to my local one.

Clare4567 · 03/02/2019 16:57

@Unicorn234 that's beautiful 💙

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 03/02/2019 19:16

Haven't checked in here in a while, but I'm due mid April with my first, a little boy. We're also moving out this week, temporarily to my parents spare room, and hoping to be in our new place before baby arrives. April is suddenly feeling quite soon! No nesting for me.

Those of you on Facebook, there's a nice little group of MN April ladies. PM @organised5 to join.

ChaosMoon · 03/02/2019 20:57

Ah, @Unicorn234 I somehow missed your post before. How gorgeous!

@Anyat212 I've been thinking much the same! Wondering if I'll want something nicer to wear after though, when I'm still in hospital and starting to bf.

Fingers crossed you'll be in soon @ArchbishopOfBanterbury!

Springmummy19 · 04/02/2019 12:38

Hey ladies. How are we all?

I've started my hospital bag but its more just chucking things in that I need to take and then I will organised it closer to the time. I know a lot of people are taking 2 bags, one for them and one for baby but I think I might be able to fit everything into one and if I need 2, I will use baby's changing bag as that is quite big too

@Blgb ohh please do pass on any info that might help me. I have a check list but I have seen so may different ones its all too confusing sometimes and then I umm and arr about packing stuff

@unicorn234 aww bless

@chaosmoon nah I basically got a pj type thing from primark, its a blt like the checked shirts you get but its over sized cotton one so I can move around in it but most of me is still covered. Its buttoned so I can open it if if need be and it wil soak up sweat..anything else lol

@ArchbishopOfBanterbury welcome hun. Fingers crossed you find somewhere soon I'm on the UK April babies 2019. Is this a different one?

I had my 28 week scan and combined clinic for my GD on Friday.. What a crazy day that was in the snow! Got to hospital for 9 even though appointment was t 9.40. ubered it. was done by 12.30 consultant was very rude and adamant to put me on Insulin even though I argued with here that I didn't need to be, luckily another consultant came in and agreed with me and just said she'll put me on different anti sickness tablets ( I've had sickness through out and the sickness means I'm not keeping the metformin down) . The first one wrote out the wrong prescription so I had to get an uber BACK to the hospital, get it corrected and uber back to town. By the time I got the tablets and was home it was like half 3 :-/

Luckily baby's weight and measurements are all as they should be this point (29 weeks)

The midwife just called me and she was happy with my weekend sugar reading so thankfully shes happy for me to not be on the insulin.

Also had a tour of the maternity unit, I finally decided I wanted a pool birth but unfortunately due to being on medication I cant be at the birthing center and have to use a delivery suit so there goes my hopes of a pool birth totally dashed waah waah

Blgb · 04/02/2019 12:53

Oh I will Springmummy19 !
The main bits of advise she's given me so far are:
Make sure you've got plenty of disposable pants and pads
Take bottles and formula if your not planning on breastfeeding because some units won't provide them!
Food and snacks to keep your energy up (obviously if your sick during labour it won't be helpful but do your best to keep eating)

And whatever you do, don't have diamorphine! (Apparently it's the devil and you feel horrendous on it) I plan to have as little pain relief as possible but who knows when it comes to it.
I am also set on having a water birth and avoiding csection at all costs, but again you know what they say about best laid plans 🤷‍♀️

Springmummy19 · 04/02/2019 15:18

@Blgb noted! I'm physically not able to breastfeed so I will have to take formula but I was thinking of taking the starter packs that cow and gate do just while I'm at the hospital

ChaosMoon · 04/02/2019 20:35

Oh no, @Springmummy19 how annoying that they didn't tell you that before the tour and getting your hopes up.

@Blgb that sounds like my tentative plan too. I hate feeling sick and I'd rather not have the cascade of interventions that some drugs can lead to. Not getting to wedded to any plan though.

I've read in a couple of places that the ready made bottles are better for the hospital because the normal formula only lasts so long once you've made it up. Hoping to express and take colostrum to the hospital though, so I'm no expert.

Springmummy19 · 05/02/2019 09:01

@ChaosMoon I know I am so so gutted. Got a call yesterday to say I am now also anemic so have to take tablets for my iron. I feel like its all going down hill now :-(
