Hi all, so I've only just found out I'm pregnant! 3.5 weeks so still early on but looking for others in the same stages as me. Marginally terrified, apprehensive and anxious but majorly excited for my journey with little bean!

Excellent use of retail therapy to make you feel better. 😉 In all seriousness, I'm glad you're feeling better.

And I may have to check out Mothercare...

Clare4567 · 30/12/2018 11:30

Hi, hope everyone had a good Christmas.

I have a question - has anyone felt their little one move yet and if so what does it feel like?

Bellafreud · 30/12/2018 11:36

I’m due April 8 (so 25+6 today) with an anterior placenta and am feeling baby more a lot. The first movements felt to me like light muscle spasms. Now I’m feeling jabs and kicks as well as squirming and rolling. You can see my bump change shape when baby moves around, sometimes it’s lopsided, and the kicks will show as a prod out.

ChaosMoon · 30/12/2018 11:58

Mine has a few favourite moves.

  1. The kick. Big movements that poke outwards.
  2. The stab. These started as smaller versions of the kick, but have increased in intensity while remaining small. I have concluded that has found a stick from somewhere and is using that.
  3. The trapped bird. My mother described feeling babies move as "butterflies" in her tummy. I kind of get the fluttering feeling, but it's more like a bloody seagull.
  4. The pain. It comes on suddenly and worried me at first, as it feels just like period pain. Second later comes the urgent need to pee. If I touch my belly at this point, it will be rich solid at the site of the pain, which is clearly where it's back is. I assume all limbs are pressing against my bladder with all its might.

Final conclusion. Baby will be a kick boxer

ChaosMoon · 30/12/2018 12:01

I'm sure all those typos weren't there when I previewed that...

Buttons28 · 30/12/2018 12:38

@ChaosMoon I love those descriptions! 😂

I also have an anterior placenta and only really started to feel movements from the end of 21 weeks. The first ones were similar to feeling gas moving around inside. They are now stronger and feeling more like 'pops' which you can actually see on the outside. When the little one rolls over you can feel that rolling sensation also but I find that tricky to describe. Thankfully mine hasn't developed the same tricks as ChaosMoon yet so not experiencing much in the way of discomfort. It has definitely found my bladder and using it as a toy I'm sure 😅

ChaosMoon · 30/12/2018 12:42

I guess they only have so much stimulation in there @Buttons28. We should really be impressed by how resourceful they are to find any toys... 😂

MigMog · 30/12/2018 15:18

I'm anterior. First movements were 20weeks. Now they are really quite strong, I'm 24.6.

Baby gives me some Big jabs now. Most upper right and low left. I get flutters, they must be movements and flips. I've had a few kicks to the bum and also get the belly wobbles now.

Loving it all. Though I do let out a gasp now and again when it gives me a shock.

Unicorn234 · 30/12/2018 15:34

I first started feeling him just before 20 weeks and he used to move all the time but it seems the bigger he's got the less he moves although he likes to become active at bedtime lol.
He always lies really low though and it feels like he kicks my foof lol. Still haven't seen my tummy move yet though 😫 I'm 24+5

Clare4567 · 30/12/2018 20:33

Wow good to know the range, @ChaosMoon that list is amazing.

Mine feel so much like wind it's sometimes hard to tell, but now I think more of what I can feel is actually the baby! Definitely feel more at night and first thing in the morning, but might be because I can feel more lying down.

beaa2712 · 31/12/2018 08:51

@Unicorn234 I haven't seen my bump move yet either and I'm 24+4 today. I went to the hospital last night as hadn't felt her move for two nights but very strong heartbeat but wanted to be safe than sorry. Can't wait to see her move my bump. It will happen in time. I'm such a worry pants it's unreal just want to meet her now!

Happy new year to you all it's going to be a fabulous year for us all 😘🎉🎊

Blgb · 31/12/2018 09:00

Hey everyone,
Haven’t posted in a while, got my 25 week midwife appointment today so should get my matB form then I can officially state when I’m going on maternity, and my pram is getting delivered! Deffo feeling more and more real by the day.
Baby boy is very lively on a night and I’m anterior too so thought it would take ages to see him but my belly wobbles when he kicks, such a strange sensation. (Maybe cos I didn’t have much belly to start with and now I’m all bump)
Happy new year to everyone! Have a mocktail tonight, it’s going to be such a magical year! Xx

Unicorn234 · 31/12/2018 09:12

@beaa2712 well I've woken up feeling a little worried as he wasn't very active yesterday. Normally when I get into bed I feel him but haven't felt him move or yet this morning.
Think I'm going to have some cold orange juice and see if that works 😊

ChaosMoon · 31/12/2018 09:14

I'm really glad everything was ok @beaa2712. That must have been so stressful.

Do you know when you're going off @Blgb? Or anyone else? I keep changing my mind and I really need to tell work soon.

And is anyone else struggling with back pain? I am big time. I really hoped I'd see out the 2nd trimester before that hit. ☹️

Blgb · 31/12/2018 09:24

@Unicorn234 I’m sure he will be fine, I have days when he’s less active, talk to him and give him a prod that’s what I do 😂

@ChaosMoon I’m going as late as I can as I’m only taking 6 months off and so want as much as possible to be with baby and not sitting at home waiting for baby to arrive, so about 37 weeks I think.

I’m not suffering from back pain and at 6ft tall I thought I would but I have got (sorry for the info) quite inflamed lady parts that do get quite painful that I’m going to mention today, dr google says it’s common with all the added weight and pressure so hopefully it will just be something I have to live with 😂

ChaosMoon · 31/12/2018 09:29

Oh my god, I've had that too! Ridiculously, I was even too uncomfortable to mention it on here. 🤦 Damn my prudishness! I hope they're able to do something about it @Blbg. I hate how much we're just meant to live with!

Blgb · 31/12/2018 09:34

@ChaosMoon haha don’t be silly we’re all in this together, il let you know her advice. Don’t fancy putting ice packs on it thou brrrrrr 😂

ChaosMoon · 31/12/2018 09:36

Haha! Thanks @Blgb. But you have a point about the ice packs! 😂

beaa2712 · 31/12/2018 10:20

@Unicorn234 maybe see how that is and if nothing then just give them a call I was really worried about ringing them but they were so lovely to us last night! Good luck 😘

beaa2712 · 31/12/2018 10:21

@ChaosMoon @Blgb I'm so glad you've both been having this! The other day I noticed mine and I was concerned but yes I guess it is just normal with everything pulling down!😂😂

Unicorn234 · 31/12/2018 10:47

@beaa2712 the orange juice worked! 👍 they sure like to worry us don't they haha xx

ChaosMoon · 31/12/2018 11:34

That's a relief @Unicorn234. They certainly do! Sorry, I cross posted with your last post.

TooSkoolForKool · 31/12/2018 13:32

Hello, haven't posted in a while but have just spent a relaxed hour catching up on what has been happening.
I'm 22+6 and the little fella is extremely active. I used to only be able to feel him at bedtime but now it's pretty much most of the day.
The DP felt him kicking for the first time in Christmas Day which was a really wonderful moment.
One problem I am having is I keep feeling light headed 🥴 has anyone else had this? I had it in the first 17 weeks as I was often dehydrated/hungry due to vomiting but died off.
Nothing I eat or drink seems to help and I have spent most of the day lying on the sofa because of it.
Oh well, I hope you all have a wonderful new year!!!

Blgb · 31/12/2018 15:36

Update on the swollen bits! Midwife thinks I might have vaginal varicose (nice!) and due to me having a consultant appointment on Friday to make sure I see her about it. If anyone else has it, go see the GP cos apparently it needs to be checked incase it gets bigger and causes problems in the birth. But a bit of puffiness is very common thou I suppose how much you think it’s swollen and use your judgement. Baby boy is fine thou just putting mummy through her paces.
@TooSkoolForKool maybe you could be anaemic? Might need some more iron in your system?

Chivari · 01/01/2019 14:57

Happy New Year ladies! 2019 is the year we all get to meet our babies 😊

Haven't posted on here in months, but have been periodically keeping up with the chat. Loads of kicks from baby for me, almost all day! But I love it. Can see bump move a lot when the kicks come.

Just started to get a few tiny stretch marks right at the bottom of my stomach. I was only using palmers coco butter but now I'm using that and bio oil to reduce any more popping up. I am also finding my job increasingly stressful and hard work. I am in a high level role with a big team and responsibilities, but feel a bit of a failure at the moment. Starting mat leave (using loads of holiday 1st) about 6 weeks before baby is due so counting down the days to that... anyone else finding work a struggle?
