Getting pregnant after implant removal

I was just wondering about people’s experiences with contraceptive rod removal? I had my contraceptive rod removed on 25th April so two weeks yday. I had it removed as want to try for second baby. I haven’t had my period yet although I feel like I’m about to start it I don’t. I have been testing with ovulation sticks and it’s always saying negative. Tested daily apart from around 4 days in total and apart from day of removal. Was wondering how long it took people to get pregnant after rod removal and for their periods to return? I have been a bit run down from this rod removal something which hasn’t really happened before thanks!!

I had ds 9 months and ten days after having mine out.

OhBergine · 10/05/2018 19:07

I was told although your fertility should be unaffected, anything up to a year to get your period back was considered within the realms of "normal".

Thankyou what’s ds sorry I’m new to this? X

I had a period about a month after it was removed. Then fell pregnant when I next ovulates.

Bar1990 · 10/05/2018 19:22

I know it’s only been since 25th April and I’ve missed a few days testing but I’ve not ovulated since they negative and not started my period yet. Could I have ovulated in then days where I didn’t test? Just getting a bit worried

I had mine removed when the three years was up and actually had a period just before it was removed and regular periods from that moment forward.
We waited a year after the removal before we started TTC (for other reasons) but I tracked my periods during this time and conceived the first month we started trying.

Ds-dear son

Charlottejade89 · 11/05/2018 15:17

I had mine out mid August and my period started around 3 weeks later and came dearly from tyen. We found out on 1st December that I was pregnant and now 28 weeks, due on 1st August. I'd been on it over ten years as well so was worried about my fertility returning to normal but happened so quick

MooChops89 · 11/05/2018 15:26

I had mine out 18th May last year so we could TTC, had been tracking periods even while on it just to learn more about my own cycle. Didn't count June in "trying" as it was so soon after having it out, but conceived our little girl end of August (she's 2 weeks old now Smile) I fully expected it to take ages but luckily it didn't, however like OhBergine says, anything up to a year is considered "normal". I'd been on it for a good 7 years or so.

Had mine out March last year and fell pregnant in november, only had mine in for 6 months or so and I have PCOS so people are different no matter what.

Anything from 6 months to 2yrs can be standard depending on how long you have had it in according to consultant but again, depends on individual.

RosieCotton · 11/05/2018 16:40

I was actually really lucky with getting mine removed. I never had a period. My daughter was born 9months and 2 weeks to the day from having it removed.

Bar1990 · 11/05/2018 17:26

I can feel my period starting and it’s two weeks and 2 days ago but nothing! I never seem to be ovulating and I’m not pregnant oh well just wait hopefully for this period to come

I had my implant removed in December, was pregnant in January!

bella1426 · 11/05/2018 22:03

First child while on the implant, fell pregnant with 2nd one a week after having it removed. Doesn't seem to affect my fertility really - even when I want it to!

EyeDrops · 15/05/2018 13:21

Baby 1 conceived 5 months after having the implant out.

Baby 2, it's taken 11 months from having the implant removed (just got my BFP this morning!)

Bar1990 · 15/05/2018 13:43

Thanks everyone..I’ve still not had my period and it’s three weeks tomorrow I had it out and I feel like it’s going to happen and it just doesn’t. All my ovulation tests are negative too :( so il see what happens in next month or so

I had my implant removed in May and DS was born 10 months later in the March. I didn't have a period at all for the entire time I had the implant or between removal and conception. In fact, I had no periods at all from getting implant put in until DS was 7 months old.

Bar1990 · 18/05/2018 11:19

I think I have now finally come on my period after three weeks and a day so hopefully my ovulation tests will start showing positive after my period and can start tying properly. Hope it’s all returned back ok now but we’ll see

My periods never returned following my implant removal. I found out I was pregnant about 5 weeks after. You are fertile as soon as it’s removed.

Estsw18 · 10/03/2019 11:56

Bar1990 so what happened did you eventually get pregnant? I'm in thr same boat as you were last year on this thread x
