@itallhappensforareason I'm jealous that you have finished your antenatal classes. I've had to do NCT as the nhs only do a water birth class near me. I signed up for that one too but it's worked out that I've got two nct plus the nhs one all this week. The nct ones don't finish until 10pm and the nhs at 9.30pm. Im not quite sure how I'm going to stay awake this week. Did you do a water one with the nhs? Was it worth it?

So growth scan today, everything was spot on and baby was measuring on 50th centile, I have to go back for another in 3 weeks to make sure things are still measuring ok but so far so good

niclw · 17/07/2018 16:40

@snowy1982 I'm glad it went well.

CharXo · 17/07/2018 18:36

Having a bad day today!
Braxton Hicks, keep getting period type cramping, fanny daggers. I’m absolutely exhausted and not done anything i wouldn’t usually do :( can’t get comfy at all!!

itallhappensforareason · 18/07/2018 10:14

Great news @snowy :)

@niclw I don't think there are different types of NHS classes here, just a one size fits all. They touched upon water births when discussing birthing options but nothing in too much detail.

itallhappensforareason · 20/07/2018 15:21

Growth scan and consultant appointment went well today. Baby is growing perfectly and consultant is happy that all is ok. Have another scan booked for 36 weeks and consultant doesn't want to see me until 39 weeks - that's presuming I make it to then!

snowy1982 · 20/07/2018 17:10

That’s great @itallhappens Smile

@Charxo, how are you feeling now? Hope your bad day wasn’t repeated the rest of the week

niclw · 20/07/2018 17:28

@itallhappensforareason Glad it all went well today

CharXo · 20/07/2018 17:31

@snowy1982 I’ve been ok today.. keep having the short sharp dagger pains but baby is moving around nicely so just going to have an easy weekend I think!

bluees · 22/07/2018 08:59

What to put in hospital bag. Hmm

snowy1982 · 22/07/2018 09:12

@bluees, am no expert but this is what I have in mine.

For me:
Bath sheet towel
A couple nighties for labour
Nursing PJs for after
Maternity pads (probably more than I need but wasn’t sure on how many to pack)
Toilettries
Hairbrush
Pack of big pants for after
Flip flops
Slippers

For baby:
Selection of baby grows and vests in newborn and 0-3
Cellular blankets
Muslins
Nappies (selection of size 1 and 2)
Water wipes
Cotton wool pads
Caps/scratch mits

Still to go in/pack:
Going home clothes for me
Chargers etc
Water spray bottles (going to freeze these to help deal with ridiculous heat in hospitals)
Change of clothes and toilettries for DH)
Snacks
Small fan (again to help with ridiculous hospital heat)

snowy1982 · 22/07/2018 09:12

Oh and forgot to say nursing bra (haven’t bought yet)

niclw · 22/07/2018 10:55

I haven't packed mine yet but I went to a waterbirth class at the hospital the other day. The midwife recommended drinking straws and a flask filled with ice. She also suggested a bath mat for use in the birthing pool as most people end up kneeling and it's tough on your knees.

snowy1982 · 22/07/2018 12:22

That reminds me @niclw, I am packing straws into my snack bag too, every list I have read says to bring straws so it’s easy to have a drink no matter what position you end are in

Icypop · 22/07/2018 21:32

Hi all, just signed up to join this thread after being told what a lifesaver a mumsnet fb group has been for a friend! If someome could add me please? Currently 32+2 and very excited to find out what im having!

Marriageoftrueminds · 22/07/2018 22:18

Does anyone else have pregnancy gingivitis (bleeding, sore gums)? Mine has come on in the last week and nothing I do is shifting it - I’m doinf corsodyl, salt washes and interdental cleaning but it keeps getting worse. I’m so stressed because apparently there’s a link with premature labour!

CharXo · 22/07/2018 22:27

@marriageoftwominds I’ve had bleeding gums also for the last couple of weeks.. I didn’t know there was a link with premature labour? Just thought it was one of those horrid pregnancy symptoms you can get?

@snowy1982 thanks for the list! I’ve literally been packing my bags properly tonight so that was super helpful!

I hope everyone’s getting on ok! I’m in the eastern region and we’re forcast for another HOT WEEK in 30’s!! Getting sick of it now!!

Gracey88 · 22/07/2018 22:28

Hi ladies how do you join the Facebook group?

Marriageoftrueminds · 22/07/2018 22:31

@charxo don’t want to alarm you. It’s not a clearly proven link; and even if it is true it’s only a slight increase. For some reason I’m just fixating on it and getting myself in a state

CharXo · 22/07/2018 22:42

@marriageoftwominds how many weeks are you? I’m 33+2 & have been packing my bags so they’re ready tonight! I’ll see what information I can find about it but honestly just thought it was “one of those things”!

Marriageoftrueminds · 22/07/2018 22:45

I’ll be 31 weeks tomorrow. I’m phoning the dentist tomorrow but unfortunately I’ve been 3 times in the last 6 weeks - all for legitimate other reasons, once for a regular check up and then twice after that because my amalgam filling started to diainitigrate and I needed a temporary filling. But it’s still embarrassing and I expect I’ve been labelled as THAT patient Grin

bluees · 22/07/2018 23:09

Thanks @snowy1982
Most things are done. Need going home clothes , fan, n loads of snacks

bluees · 22/07/2018 23:20

@Marriageoftrueminds i am in same boat as well. Had terrible pain in upper left gums. Dentist gave me antibiotics which helped for some time. But after 3weeks of pain , crying, and restlessness, I am better now. Dentist booked my appointment after baby born and will give me some prescribed tooth paste which I cannot used atm due to chemicals.
So may be try getting that after delivery

niclw · 23/07/2018 00:07

@CharXo I'm in the east too and am very much sick of this weather. It's worse at home than at work too as I work in a coastal town so we get the sea breezes.

CharXo · 23/07/2018 07:45

@niclw it’s getting silly isn’t it! At least you’ve got the sea breeze tho! I slept on the sofa last night as it was cooler downstairs than upstairs! :(
