Also struggling, find myself leaving work early most days as it is completely draining me. I’m in NI and we’ve hit the 30’s which is really unheard of here. The last 2 days have been a bit cooler but it supposed to heat up again over this weekend

snowy1982 · 07/07/2018 06:32

Like @niclw I’m well used to the underboob sweat though Grin

CharXo · 08/07/2018 00:49

Hi ladies! Me again!!

At about 7ish tonight I got some bad period type cramping pains.. kind of how it feels on the first day of your period when your really crampy and can’t get comfy. Anyway this kind of went and then came back again so I took 2 x paracetamol and tried to distract myself so I wasn’t fretting too much. Anyway the pain has gone and baby has been so active all night so I’m not particularly worried however I’ve been also getting those “fanny daggers” that have been mentioned on another thread. Short sharp pains down below.. again not constant but like OWW when it happens. Can anyone give me some idea what the hell is going on?
Like I said baby has been very active ALL night even while I’m typing this.. but now I can’t sleep as I feel Uber sick 🤮

nightwispa · 08/07/2018 09:50

@CharXo- sound like Braxton Hicks. Apparently you start getting them around 28/29 weeks to prepare you for labour. If anything worries you though- call your midwife on the number provided on your notes.

ichifanny · 08/07/2018 10:03

I always fling braxton ficks not to be sore I’m just aware of it being tight and it takes my breath away a bit . The fanny dangers I’ve always put down to the baby booting my cervix from the inside . If pains become more intense or regular phone the midwives though .

ichifanny · 08/07/2018 10:04

Braxton hicks

Had MW appointment today and am being referred for growth scan, looks like baby is taking after daddy and is gonna be a big one

snowy1982 · 11/07/2018 11:47

Got phone call today to book growth scan for next week, surprised at how quickly they organised it

niclw · 11/07/2018 16:21

@snowy1982 I supposed they have to be quick with growth scans as things change so rapidly. I hope it goes well. You get to see baby again too.

snowy1982 · 12/07/2018 19:56

@niclw, yea I assumed they would arrange it quickly, just didn’t think they’d be able to do it that quickly. Looking forward to seeing bubs again Smile

It’s a 4 day weekend here (NI) so DH and I were doing some work on nursery today. The room has a built in wardrobe, but builders didn’t put any shelving or rails in so DH did that today while I sorted out some bits and pieces and big things away. Am determined to have hospital bag packed by the end of the weekend too

snowy1982 · 14/07/2018 16:36

So have my hospital bag almost all packed, only things left to go in are the last minute items (phone chargers, notes etc) and nursing bras (which I don’t have yet).

Anybody any tips on when’s the best time to buy nursing bras and where is good to go for them?

niclw · 14/07/2018 17:35

@snowy1982 You are very organised. I'm planning on getting my bag packed at about 34 weeks so in just over two weeks time.

I was wondering the same about nursing bras so did a search the other day. Recommendations seem to be at around 36 weeks. I'm a bit worried about leaving it till then in case my baby is premature like me and my brother. We were born at 36 weeks and I need to travel 20 miles to bravissimo for a fitting as there is no where near me that sells them for F cups.

snowy1982 · 14/07/2018 19:54

@niclw could you not get one or two early just in case? I don’t even know where I’m going to go to get mine, we don’t have the best range of shops for them

niclw · 14/07/2018 22:36

@snowy1982 I did wonder whether it was worth getting one at 34 weeks as I'm visiting my parents and there's a store near them but I'm a bit worried as apparently you go up a bit in sizes at or near birth. Do you have a mothercare near you? They do measurements at the store near me. Might be worth a try?

snowy1982 · 15/07/2018 07:18

Have a Mothercare but also, it turns out, a bravissimo near my work, it must be a fairly new opening as I didn’t know about it.

niclw · 15/07/2018 09:07

@snowy1982 Glad you found somewhere.

I'm off to be a spectator for my friends doing race for life this morning. I would usually be doing it with them but am glad I chose not to. It's supposed to be 28 degrees and my feet would swell massively with all that walking. Instead I'll be the one with the bump sat at the finish line with the picnic cheering them on. I'm hoping I'll be able to do it next year with a 10 month old in tow.Smile

itallhappensforareason · 15/07/2018 19:52

I've actually been wearing nursing bras for months already - figured they may as well double up as maternity bras! I ordered a size larger but my boobs haven't even grown (though they were quite sizable to start!)

Have now bought everything for my hospital bag bar drinks and snacks. And I actually need to pack it.

Got a growth scan and consultant appointment this week. Nervous and excited to see baby again! Hoping they can discharge me from consultant led care so I can give birth in the midwife led birth centre.

snowy1982 · 15/07/2018 19:54

Snap on the growth scan @itallhappens, mines on Tuesday, when’s yours?

I also got my appointment letter for my term appointment, it’s day before due date, makes things seem really real!!

@niclw, how did the spectating go? Was your picnic nice?

Katjolo · 15/07/2018 20:55

Good to hear that everyone is doing well. I must really sort out the hospital bag too!

niclw · 15/07/2018 23:54

@snowy1982 What's a term appointment?

@itallhappensforareason and @snowy1982 Good luck with your scans.

snowy1982 · 16/07/2018 05:49

@niclw, it’s the appointment on or around your due date to discuss what the next steps are i.e. setting induction date, doing sweep etc

niclw · 16/07/2018 08:03

@snowy1982 Ok. I've got all appointments booked in except the 40 week one because my midwife only works Fridays at my surgery and I'm due on the Tuesday. I keep meaning to ask her about it but forgot last week. I'm assuming I will have to go to the antenatal clinic at the hospital instead.

itallhappensforareason · 16/07/2018 14:20

Thanks @niclw! Mine's on Friday @snowy.

My midwife only ever books 1 appointment at a time. My next is a home visit on 3rd August - will be discussing birth plan. Don't think I'll have much of one - just get him out in the safest way possible, and make sure I'm ok too lol. Oh and lots of gas and air Grin

snowy1982 · 16/07/2018 16:50

@itallhappens, I’ve been doing this scheme for appointments called EITP for first time mums, it groups you antinatal appointments with your parenting classes so I had the schedule for all my appointments in advance. It takes me up to 36 weeks and then I am back to normal MW care (I think). We had a class last week about birth plans so they will prob want you to think about delivery of placenta, cord clamping etc

itallhappensforareason · 16/07/2018 21:00

We finished our antenatal classes tonight. Just did the NHS ones and had 3 lots of 2 hour sessions. To be honest I've learnt more just looking on the Internet and being on forums/Facebook etc than I did at the classes but I would have hated to have felt like I'd missed something.

I think I want the injection for the placenta, just get it out and over and done with!!
