I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hi bored it’s a week on Monday so not too long really.

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/03/2018 11:53

Morning all!

Decided I should probably check myself in to this thread. I'm currently 8+4 with baby 2 (number 1 is nearly 8!) and suffering from hyperemesis again. I now very clearly recall why there is only one!!!

So far my GP have been fairly on the ball, prescribed cyclizine + Metaclopramide (which is what worked last time) as soon as I asked for it so I had it ready. Unfortunately I've been a bit worse this week so was back seeing them this morning, so we're going to try promethizane (god knows if that's spelled right!) alongside the cyclizine. Ketones of +2 which she brightly told me was "good!" - I think our definitions of good may differ a tad!

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/03/2018 12:17

Sorry, not promethizane...Prochlorperazine. DH just came back with them. I'm not normally a doughbrain but these drugs make me so tired and groggy

Boredoftryingusernames · 16/03/2018 13:59

Statistically sorry that you've had to join! Did think it was a little odd you had been prescribed 2 antihistamines together, your updated makes more sense - really hope the different combination works better for you. Would agree your Dr had an odd idea of 'good'! Although some people have said their hospital require higher, several hospitals have 2+ ketones as their marker for needing fluids intravenously. Are you managing to keep anything down?

Hotchocolate not that long until the scan then, but hard when you are worrying.

hotchocolate86 · 16/03/2018 14:14

2+ ketones is pretty high. I was admitted the weekend just gone with 2+ ketones and in overnight on a drip. I’m not sure how 2+ can be described as good. I hope the new meds help.

Mustang27 · 16/03/2018 14:16

Good shout Hot glad it stayed down. Can you not get your scan earlier? Especially with a history of loss? Seems horrible to leave you waiting. Hugs from me.

Isthis thats horrible so unfair considering what you have gone through to conceive. Justtheone who has not long given birth conceived after years of fertility treatment too. I don't blame you for feeling so crap. I was sweating in the dead of winter so yeah but Iv still not returned to normal since his birth 10 weeks ago but I'm breastfeeding so maybe linked to that.

Bored you'd probably feel better after being hit by a train .

8yrs is a good gap StatisticallyChallenged when it comes to hg. Congrats on your pregnancy. Yeah your dr is a bit dim keep an eye on those ketones.

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/03/2018 16:38

Going to pick up some ketostix and keep a beady eye. She wasn't a doc I've seen before but I'd spoken to her earlier as I needed sick line extending. In goodness she'd looked up our trusts prescribing guidelines before i came in too so although i suspect she maybe has been a bit chirpy about the 2+ she was trying at least! Touch wood but so far every doc I've spoken to at this surgery at least takes it seriously which is more than can be said for some of the others locally. I've a friend who was ignored until she threw up at the gp's feet!

Wasn't keeping anything down yesterday but I managed a crisp sandwich after I'd had the first dose of the new meds. Pure carbs seems to be all my body accepts- last time round it was super noodles, this time bread and crisps. Its never an apple is it!

LucindaE · 16/03/2018 18:25

Everyone, I am really sorry about having to urge people to move over to the new thread, even new people (welcome), very early, with 90 spaces left. This is in case the thread runs out before my return, which it may well do (that is assuming that the weather doesn't stop me getting there at all!). If I left it there waiting but accessible just in case, Mustang might have to deal with two threads at once; thanks again for helping.
Here's the link to the new thread.

@LucindaE il keep checking and moving them over if need be dw.

Foodylicious · 16/03/2018 19:22

StatisticallyChallenged I sooo want a crisp sandwich now!

I am getting a bit worried about my weight gain (in stark contrast to some of you I know).
For the most part the Promethazine is really helping, but I've been feeling more and more sick again this last week and non stop eating, especially in the morning is helping the nausea.
Really don't fancy much fruit but I'm going to have to try...

Oh an pretty sure I won't be eating omelette again for a while.

polkadotpixie · 16/03/2018 19:38

@Foodylicious I eat way too much too. It's the only thing that helps with the nausea. Not looking forward to losing it after but never mind! I lost a fair amount in the beginning when the sickness was worst so overall I've only gained about 5lbs

Smartie368 · 27/03/2018 13:19

Bad news for me I’m afraid. Wishing you all the best of luck for the rest of your pregnancies

Mustang27 · 27/03/2018 13:31

@Smartie368 my heart is breaking for you I am so sorry. Please be kind to yourself and grieve as much as you need. It's truly horrible to lose a baby but even more so when it's happened before.

hotchocolate86 · 27/03/2018 14:14

So sorry to hear that @Smartie368 Do take care of yourself.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 27/03/2018 16:01

Oh smartie I’m so sorry, nothing I can say will make it any better but just make sure you take time for yourself. I shall be thinking of you and sending you lots of hugs through the broadband x
