I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Spoke to the doctor this morning and she agreed that I need the meds so have given me another prescription 🎉

RockinRobinn · 15/03/2018 11:32

Hi ladies, so sorry to hear so many of you are having such a hard time.
Kayleigh1986 I'm glad your Doctor has agreed to give you some more medication and you've found something that works so well for you.
isthismummy I couldn't even imagine being sick 17 times in one day! My ribs are killing me and I'm only having about 1-4 episodes of actual vomiting for about 5-10 minutes each day. Hope it starts to ease soon and your doctor gives you some useful advice/help, maybe a trip to the hospital is needed to have some anti sickness through an IV as you can't even keep water down so taking a tablet is going to be hard.
In regards to insomnia has anybody tried any essential oils? Might be worth a try just check which ones we shouldn't use first, that's if the smells don't make you gag!
A little update on me I have returned to work in a very limited capacity this week only saw a couple of patients and mainly just doing reception which is sitting down but I am definitely paying the price as I've had to be in at some point everyday so far this week, the joys of being self-employed and ill! From next week I'll only be doing two days and my boss just told me to do what I can which is very supportive. Currently at 13+2 and the nausea hasn't dissipated at all and the vomiting has been at its worst this week. I do not like the person who said is gets better after week 12 at the moment!

Smartie368 · 15/03/2018 12:13

Thank you everyone for the responses and the welcome. I feel a little bit of a fraud posting at the moment because although I have all day nausea and dizziness and am being sick several times a day I am able to eat and drink and keep some of it down. So think I am borderline this time. My first pregnancy I couldn’t eat or drink and was hospitalised so I do know how bad it can get and really feel for those of you going through it. My third I was really ill again but controlled by meds and avoided hospital. My second was similar to this time, really sick and dizzy (and would probably think was full blown hyperemesis if I hadn’t experienced worse iyswim).

First miscarriage was at 7 weeks and carried on being sick until 8 weeks. Second miscarriage was a mmc, found at 13 weeks but had stopped growing at 7 weeks-my worst sickness was weeks 7-10. So I really don’t take comfort in the sickness being a good sign as people are keen to tell me it is!

www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Le-Joli-Sicilian-Lemon--Mandarin-Sparkling-Water/401376011 This drink is my absolute saviour at the moment.

Dp made me a cup of tea this morning and I really didn’t fancy it but thought I should try to drink it for hydration... spewed it all over the bed as soon as it hit my stomach Blush

Smartie368 · 15/03/2018 12:19

Isthismummy sympathies to you. That’s how I was with my first. Hope the dr can give you something else to try.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 15/03/2018 12:31

Robin sounds really hard going getting back to work, hope it gets easier.

I’ve discovered my vitamin b6 and folic acid are the cause of some terrible diarrhoea I’ve been having. Someone on here mentioned they use a spray vitamin and I was wondering if it could be linked in the hope that agrees better with me or if anyone has any b vitamins (no iron) they take that agrees with them do let me know Thanks

Elephantgrey · 15/03/2018 13:37

Thank you I am feeling a lot more positive today despite puking all over the floor at work!

Antidea it is reassuring to hear that you had Serataline without any horrible side effects. I am going to give it a go.

I have booked a private physiotherapy appointment. They do manual therapy which is what a chiropractor would do so hopefully I will be feeling slightly less broken soon.
Nat what a lovely name for your baby!

hotchocolate86 · 15/03/2018 13:45

Hi yule it was me who mentioned the spray vitamin. I got it off amazon.

Better You Pregnancy Daily Vitamin D Oral Spray 25ml www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005OQV9FU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ZHNQAbCW76P2A?tag=mumsnetforum-21

It only has 6 vitamins in so it’s not comprehensive but as I am struggling to keep down vitamin tablets I figure it’s better than nothing. It’s got a mild peach flavour which I find quite pleasant. Hope this is helpful for you.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 15/03/2018 14:07

Thank you choc, I’ve just ordered it. The info says it is directly absorbed to blood rather than via stomach and ingesting so hopefully no more diarrhoea side Effects!

LucindaE · 15/03/2018 14:29

IsThisMummy My goodness, I am sorry I missed how you were suffering. Is that seventeen separate retching sessions? That's awful. I'm sure you've been admitted by now for fluids.
Elephantgrey Sorry about floor puke at work - sounds mortifying - but I am glad things aern't so bad today otherwise. Hmm
Kayleigh From anecdoatal evidence, that 12 weeks doesn't even seem to be true for managable pregnancy sickness. So many women seem to have that up to 14 or even 16 weeks. I am glad your manager is sympathetic- even two days seems too much when you feel this bad.
Smartie Sorry about tea reappearing. I am a complete tea addict, and I found it sickening. I am sorry for your losses. The chances are greatly on your side all will be well this time. I found only one m/c to be really distressing. Much sympathy over the losses of Nails Anitidae and others.
Admin Note and Query!!!!!
On Saturday 17 March, I will be flapping off for a few days in first London for a friend's birthday party, and then coming back via a stay with sis in Kent, returning on 21 March. Lovely Mustang has agreed to take over the thread. As it is being used up so fast these days, I don't see it lasting, and I don't want it to run out as it did when I was only able ot use the library PC, so I will put up a new one before I go,
even if the old one still has room on it, to play safe. I know of a way to put up a thread and then hide it, but not sure if it is possible for people to 'reveal' it when required, if necessary! Not sure if anyone else does?

I’m really craving chicken korma Sad I don’t think I dare eat one though. I’m feeling pretty nauseous today.

nailsathome · 15/03/2018 15:56

Hotchoc I fancy a curry too! How strange!

hotchocolate86 · 15/03/2018 15:59

Are you going for it nails?

Mustang27 · 15/03/2018 17:35

Oh god Smartie been there one that with the tea BlushBrew yuck. I'm so sorry about your losses it's really horrible and beyond unfair for you to continue suffering after their wee hearts stop beating SadSad. Hg is beyond cruel in these circumstances.

Yeah hot that's a hard one. Rice is pretty awful second time around and it was on my avoid list but I often craved Hmm although I got to the point if I really fancied something I just bit the bullet regardless of how awful it was coming up as it was just nice to have something I enjoyed briefly.

Nails & Hot you could just get a naan bread and the curry and just dip it in the sauce maybe that will be less vile on return also take a ranatidine asap if you do go for it.

RockinRobinn · 15/03/2018 17:44

@hotchocolate86 I really wanted a butter chicken the other day but don't think I could handle the oil and don't fancy rice the second time round either!

RockinRobinn · 15/03/2018 18:04

Naan bread is such a good idea. Never though of that!

nailsathome · 15/03/2018 20:26

Nah I didn't risk it!

hotchocolate86 · 16/03/2018 06:22

I chanced it and thankfully it stayed down. Naan bread in the curry sauce is a great idea though. If I fancy it again I’ll definitely try that.

isthismummy · 16/03/2018 07:21

You're a brave woman risking curry hotchocolateGrin

Lucinda I hope you have a lovely time while you're away.

I went to a&e yesterday and ended up on an IV drip. I didn't even get a cubicle. I had to sit in the waiting area, hooked up to a drip, shivering on DH lap as the anti sickness meds made me feel incredibly high.

No further forward with getting anything to help me sleep. GP said speak to A&E and A&E said speak to GPAngry

Just so sick of all this shit. It took me three years of infertility and all my savings spent on threatment to get pregnant. You would think I'd suffered enough without being put through this. I feel so angry, like I'm being continually punished for something. Is that normal? Does anyone else feel the same?

hotchocolate86 · 16/03/2018 07:43

Oh isthismummy I’m sorry to hear about your rubbish experience at the hospital. How unfair to make you sit in the waiting room. Did they give you cyclizine? The first time I had that I was dizzy and really shaky after. Since then they have put it in slowly and I still get lightheaded and no way could I get up for about 20 minutes after but it’s much better. Apparently cyclizine makes lots of women feel like that if it’s given through iv. It’s not pleasant.

I only chanced the curry because I’ve not been sick for 5 days. This is amazing after I was so ill on Saturday I ended up in hospital overnight. I’m hoping I’m getting better but in reality I think I’m just waiting for a relapse and I’m terrified that’s going to happen.

How is everyone else feeling today?

Boredoftryingusernames · 16/03/2018 08:29

isthismummy sorry you had such a rubbish experience, very difficult to be sitting up (let alone in the waiting room) when you are feeling awful and have injectable meds. Pleased they did at least give you fluids. At our A&E the queue was out the doors and onto the pavement, it was quite a shocking insight into how absolutely stretched the NHS is. A paramedic was waiting with someone a few spaces in front of me and they said all the local hospitals are the same here - scary times!

Hotchocolatewell done on the curry! Glad it stayed down. I have had a sudden turn around in eating non-beige food this week, but haven't risked curry yet. 5 days of no vomiting is great, hopefully your HG follows pattern of last time with at least the horrific vomiting calming down from this sort of stage.
I tried to reduce my ondansetron and it didn't work out very well so have increased it again, still having retching episodes and had to spend a lot of time in bed yesterday as felt like I'd been hit by a train, but having a few much better days interspersed. Just so draining living with the constant nausea still.
Hope everyone else is ok (as they can be!)

isthismummy · 16/03/2018 09:12

hotchocolate I'm not sure what the meds were. The nurse just said anti sickness meds and I might feel "a bit woozy" what she should have said is that I might feel like I'd taken an overdose of ecstasyGrin I had to lie with head in DH's lap, shaking uncontrollably and unable to speak for an hour while the drip went down. It's not the hospitals fault though. They were so overstretched. There wasn't even a cubicle free for the doctor to speak to me in. Just no privacy whatsoever. They did a brilliant job under horrendous circumstances.

Let's hope you continue to feel well with many curries to come. HG is a fickle mistress though. You think she's gone for good and then back she comes againSad

bored They are indeed scary times. Never mind though, if the tories have their way there won't be an NHS in ten years and we'll all be getting our healthcare courtesy of Richard Branson. I'll put my soapbox away now. Sorry to hear you had to have a day in bed. The nausea and the exhaustion are just the worst. Even on a "good" day you still feel exhaustedSad

Does anybody else also feel hot all the time? I feel like my body is constantly at a thousand degrees!

hotchocolate86 · 16/03/2018 09:41

bored I’m sorry you are still struggling but it’s definitely good you are having a few better days.

I am really hoping I’m picking up a bit and the vomiting is calming down. Five days without it is brilliant but at the same time I am so scared it means something’s wrong. I had a missed miscarriage before and I’m so frightened it’s happened again.

Boredoftryingusernames · 16/03/2018 09:43

isthismummy not as bad now, but in my worst weeks I had may bedroom window open constantly and husband/family were always commenting my room was freezing, but I was really hot.

hotchocolate86 · 16/03/2018 09:45

I have been freezing cold a lot so the opposite.

Boredoftryingusernames · 16/03/2018 09:46

hotchocolate definitely not complaining, on the whole am much better, just still having to take it easy. As much as anyone says don't worry and it's a good thing your vomiting has eased off, I completely understand that you'll be worried. When is your scan?
