There was a thread here on babies due in May but for some reason it’s been closed. Anyone is due then?

Glad to hear all the babies and it’s are well! Although sorry to hear about the reflux and colic some of the babies have 🙁
We seem to be getting on well here, my little girl is 3 weeks old now, we’re just about getting in some form of routine now the wave of visitors seems to have stopped.

Evening all, saw the Dr today who recommended milk thickener for reflux and Doctor Browns bottles which are arriving tomorrow. I hope this helps with the reflux and we will just have to ride out the Colic.

Glad you're all doing well! My daughter seems to have the same issues in regards to being gassy and difficult to settle again at night. My friend suggested Infacol as it really helped her daughter and after some extra reading I decided to give it a go! Only started yesterday so it needs a few days to kick in. But she managed a big burp last night which is better than the usual tiny ones.

She's also just slept for 5 hours (3 weeks old yesterday) but I'm wondering if that was a fluke! Probably was... She hardly slept at all yesterday afternoon so she'd probably worn herself out! I imagine it's gonna be long few hours till she settles again Sad My partner has been great though and takes her down in the morning when she won't settle so I can catch up on sleep before getting out of bed!

And I'm based in North Manchester so not near Oxfordshire unfortunately!

Hey hope everyone is doing well! In need of some help/suggestions.

My baby has trouble pooing since birth first formula made him constipated and caused a tear in his bum so he needed to go but at the same time didn't want to because it hurt too much this happened in week one but only found out when we got sent to the Peds unit when he was two weeks old. My other half was having to massage his bum to help him go as he would go days without pooing although he needed to go and would have hours and hours of crying because he was trying to. He was put on laxatives and we changed his formula after two weeks he started then going a few times a day so Peds doctor told us to cut the laxatives down to once a day and then when he was going 2/3 times a day to then cut it down to every other day. Which we done we also changed his formula half way through as half way through the laxatives wasn't pooing for days again and seemed to have bad tummy ache I read that the colic and constipation formula could do this so hence why we changed it again. Well he started going alot so slowly cut it down and now again going days without pooing even with laxatives every 2 days to help him go and you can see he's in so much pain for him trying to each day. Everytime I go doctors the first thing they ask is if I'm a first time mum and when I say yes they say ahh and fob me off. I really think he has trouble digesting the milk in the first place and this is what's causing this as we have tried 3 different formulas and they all end up doing the same we even have him on grip water for his colic and have an extra ounce of water in his bottles as suggested by a doctor. I'm lactose intolerant myself so believe he could be the same but no one is listening to me. He is now 7 weeks old and its heart wrenching to see him in this agony every day I've even now been put on anti depressants for postnatal depression as I'm so stressed out by all this and no one actually listening to me that this is not right and my baby shouldn't still be like this weeks later.

Sorry for the long post but any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Oh @Fizzysx sorry you are going through this and not being listened to by health professionals. I don't really have an advice I'm afraid but didn't want to read your message and leave it. My little one went a few days without pooing when he was around 2 weeks old, I was told to give him some cool boiled water , so maybe this is something you could also try if your not doing so already? I'm not sure if there is a lactose free milk you can buy at shops or if it needs to be prescribed, but maybe worth going back to the doctors and asking them to give you some (if it needs to be prescribed) and just tell them you are lactose free. I really hope you manage to get somewhere as it's not nice seeing your little one in pain.

If anyone has WhatsApp and wants to start a group chat private message me 🙂 would be nice to continue to speak to you as we have similar age babies 🙂 x

I'm not sure what to advise other than maybe some baby massage? The 'I love you' method is meant to relieve constipation. You can see videos on YouTube. And maybe after a warm bath with some baby oil? Hope it gets better soon. My daughter had constipation for a few days and it was awful seeing her in so much discomfort Sad

I've just sent you a PM @LittleFox01 to start a WhatsApp chat! Good idea Smile

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 28/06/2018 17:32

I was going to say baby massage might be good for your little one Fizzy. How horrible for you and your baby though, it must be hard.

I’ll PM you too little fox 😄

Fizzysx · 28/06/2018 20:13

Thank you all! I have told them I'm lactose intolerant but they don't seem bothered! Think at our check soon I'm going to have to say I'm not leaving till they do something about it and actually put my foot down. I have tried the baby massage so thank you it did help with his wind which is at least something. I will mp you once I work out how to do it 😂

LittleFox01 · 29/06/2018 15:32

I have messaged you back @Fizzysx 😊

Message me your number if you'd like to join the WhatsApp group, then I can add you in 😊 x

After a few trips to the Drs finally been given some milk thickner which has helped to settle my little man at night. Can't believe he will be 2 months next week 😊 x

LittleFox01 · 01/07/2018 06:21

@Lou0390 Ah I'm glad you managed to get some milk thickener to help 😊 and your little one is settling better! Time goes too quickly doesn't it? My little man is 9 weeks, will be 10 weeks on Thursday 🙈 x
