There was a thread here on babies due in May but for some reason it’s been closed. Anyone is due then?

So pleased to have found this thread! Kept trying to post on old one! Hope everyone is doing well and had a great Christmas! I was suffering really badly last week from an unbearable pain in my lower right abdomen, it was so bad at times that I couldn’t stand or walk and was off work. Ended up at the GP’s and luckily had my 20 week scan the day after it started so was reassured everything was ok. The pain eased after 4/5 days thankfully and now I’m just getting the odd twinge. Due 12th May x

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 28/12/2017 18:59

Eek that doesn't sound pleasant @nats1017, do you know if there was a reason for it? Or was it just one of those wonderful pregnancy mysteries?

BlueRaincoat89 · 29/12/2017 11:08

Is everyone feeling movement now? I'm still not sure if I am. I'm 18 weeks and sometimes feel twinges but nothing like bubbles or fluttering. I know it's different for everyone and can be later if it's your first.

EastDulwichWife · 29/12/2017 12:44

@Sausagerollsrock & @blueraincoat89 we're due date buddies! I'm feeling quite a lot of movement now (but only when I'm sitting or lying down). It's a real wriggler! Our 20 week scan isn't till 21 weeks so I'm trying to be patient but wish is was sooner! How are you both doing?

Arianna1 · 29/12/2017 12:58

i'm almost 22 weeks and almost 100% sure that my baby is lying horisontally in my lower baby, i always only feel him that way.. what about others?

nats1017 · 29/12/2017 21:39

@McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe no we never did find out what was causing it. The sonographer couldn’t find anything strange in the scan and the GP suggested I go back if it continues. Fingers crossed it seems to have gone so just a mystery I guess !

Fizzysx · 29/12/2017 22:00

@nats1017 wasnt a kidney infection was it? i had something similar, pain in the right side low down and my bump felt werid like I had eaten too much was really odd when I actually had eaten barely anything because of the pain. Called out of hours and they wanted to see me straight away they saw me and said it was a kidney infection i was surprised as that pain you normally get in your back but they said as your pregnant pain can show up in other areas due to things being pushed out the way for the baby.

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 30/12/2017 03:20

Due May 24th! We've got our 20 weeks scan on the 8th Jan, we've got 3 boys between us and I've felt like baby is a girl since the beginning but we'll soon find out! I love the boys to bits and it's lovely that they're so protective of me so another little boy would definitely be a blessing ☺️ very uncomfortable this time around though!

BlueRaincoat89 · 30/12/2017 17:06

@EastDulwichWife yay, due date buddies! Is this your first? I've been feeling a little light headed recently, the dr says my blood pressure is a bit low but other than that I'm feeling much better than the 1st trimester. How are you feeling?

Our 20 week scan is the 15th Jan so just before 21 weeks. I'm a bit impatient for it too - after that the buying will begin Smile

2ashamed2Bnamed · 30/12/2017 22:17

Cant believe Im writing this but signed up as just found out I'm due May 15th. Will be our fourth but is very very unexpected and still not worked out how we feel beyond shocked.

lottiec1 · 04/01/2018 12:35

Hey girls, I was also on the other thread! Due 18th may..had 20 week scan this week and all looks fine! Getting very excited now!!

Just wondering if any of you have found maternity gym leggings that don’t cost a fortune?

Also..anybody had really sore nipples? Like a joggers nipple feeling? They have been pregnancy sore for the whole 20 weeks and I’ve gotten used to that sensitivity but now in the cold weather this is like a whole new level of sore 🙈

Arianna1 · 04/01/2018 12:58

Is anyone else feeling regular pains, of all sorts, in the lower belly, at this stage? So hard to know and to tell what’s normal, what’s not!

OP posts:
BlueRaincoat89 · 04/01/2018 13:29

@lottiec1 Congratulations on your scan!

I have some maternity leggings on today. They're not gym ones but they are much too big, I've overestimated the size of my bump. They keep falling down at the crotch Blush

The nipple thing - yes, it hurts so much! I weirdly only get it on one nipple and end up rubbing it like a weirdo or putting something hot on it.

@Arianna1 I've been getting more feelings in my tummy this week - I'm 19 weeks. I think it's just stretching though.

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 04/01/2018 17:55

Yeah my nipples hurt too and they’re really sensitive to the cold! I’ve had a weird patch of what looks like wet eczema appear on the back of my shoulder. I’ve never suffered with eczema or anything even similar, however my son does hence why I thought it looked similar. Most odd. It seems to have dried up with some sudocrem and that is the only patch, albeit the patch is about 3 inches long by an inch wide. Think my poor DP thought I’d burnt myself.

I’ve been looking at my maternity leave options today! Can’t wait to finish, I just need to decide when to go.

Arianna1 · 04/01/2018 18:11

Is anyone else suffering from daily feeling of shortness of breath?

OP posts:
BlueRaincoat89 · 05/01/2018 13:01

I've been looking at maternity leave too. Does anyone know if you can take all of your annual leave before maternity leave starts or is it just what you've accrued to that point in the year? And how would they do the rest if you can't take it all? Pay it to you or add it on to the end of maternity leave?

I'm thinking of starting mine a month before due date - can't decide if this is too early or too late!

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 05/01/2018 20:17

@BlueRaincoat89 I can’t decide when to go either. I’m tempted to go on 1st April (due 8th may). Initially I was going to leave it as close to my due date as possible. But my jobs a joke at the moment so kind of want to be out of there ASAP.

LittleFox01 · 05/01/2018 20:24

I am planning to leave 6th April (due 8th May) but starting Mat leave 16th April. The week in between I am taking as holiday. I got my MatB1 form from the midwife this week so I will be handing it in on Monday :) I was going to leave later but I am struggling with constantly picking up heavy babies all day :( xx

Fizzysx · 05/01/2018 21:00

I was planning to leave two weeks before my due date, I done see my midwife again till im 25 weeks do they give you your form or does it get sent to you? As I will have to hand it in the same day day near enough as Ihave to hand it in to work 15 weeks before Im due ive been told by my work. Does anyone know if your entitled to your full holiday entitlement or does it get lowered because your going on maternity leave?

Girlwiththearabstrap · 05/01/2018 21:05

I'm a teacher so it's a bit different but id always speak to HR about holiday stuff. I'd imagine you always accrue full years as normal.
Lottie - I got gym leggings from Gap. They always have deals on so I got a pair for around £20.

Frankie2015 · 05/01/2018 21:05

I’m due 10th May!!
Has anyone been feeling really dizzy!! I feel dizzy at least 3 times a day and sometimes like I could faint. I googled and said could be to do with the uterus on blood vessels so I’m not sure when’re to let my midwife know or not? I’ve not an appointment with her for another 5 weeks!

Congratulations everyone! So exciting

BlueRaincoat89 · 05/01/2018 21:16

@Frankie2015 I've had a few dizzy spells, mainly when standing up for longish periods like on the train. I get blurred vision with it too and come very close to fainting if I don't get fresh air or sit down. I went to the drs and I had slightly low blood pressure which they think caused it. Apparently it's common during pregnancy. Other things which they ruled out were low blood sugar and iron levels. Do you get it when standing or when you haven't eaten for a while?

Frankie2015 · 05/01/2018 21:28

@BlueRaincoat89 oh that’s interesting it always when I’m standing up and I could have just eaten so I didn’t think link to food or anything. What do they normally suggest to do for low blood pressure? Never thought about iron levels as well! Thank you! Xx

BlueRaincoat89 · 05/01/2018 21:36

@Frankie2015 Mine was low but still within the normal range so they haven't done anything. The Dr just said to be aware of the signs and make sure you sit down - easier said than done on a rush hour train! I've read that salty snacks help with low blood pressure but they seem far more concerned if it's high. Just another pregnancy symptom to live with!

Frankie2015 · 05/01/2018 21:44

@BlueRaincoat89 thank you I might give my midwife a call next week then just to check! I know I’ve got a 2 year old as well and running round after him while feeling dizzy is the worst! I used to commute to London when I was pregnant with him on the train! Have you got one of the baby on board badge that everyone pretends they can’t see so they don’t have to surrender their seat!! Xx
