Best of luck tomorrrow lisa and on Thursday foxtrot, will be thinking of ye both.

ThoughtAboutThisTooMuch · 19/12/2017 19:27

Lol bertie, I did the same! Been pretty nauseous so haven’t been eating much but it completely disappeared on Sunday and ended up eating most of the pack of fancy crackers I bought for guests! Smile

mogulfield · 19/12/2017 19:42

bertie I’m eating loads at the mo as well! Had an all you can eat Pizza Hut buffet for lunch. I keep waking at 3-4 in the morning starving hungry. Had a scotch egg at about 11 last night to try and tide me over till the morning, which just about worked. This is a hungry baby.

BertieBotts · 19/12/2017 20:09

I seem to swing between nausea and hunger and mixtures of the two. When I was making DS his dinner I didn't fancy it at all but then when it was ready I decided I was going to have the same, so we did. Then I only just finished it and now I want to go to bed but it's only 9 o'clock!

Lifeofpies · 19/12/2017 20:46

Welcome Bertie and Yikes! Wishing you all the best.

My scan went ok, measuring 8+2 which fits with my dates. The sonographer was very gentle and kind. It was the same scan room that I found out about my last MMC, which was tough, and I’m still over a week from that milestone, but glad to have got a scan in before booking in on friday.

Very best wishes for scans this week, Lisa Foxtrot and thought.

Lifeofpies · 19/12/2017 20:50

Foxtrot I think that puts us on similar dates, for now. I can totally understand wanting a scan later than when you miscarried. Think most of us feel that it’s a huge milestone to get further than we have before (and then on and on!). If it hadn’t been for no appointments over Christmas/new year we definitely would have waited.

fox I feel like I’ve had a permanent bloody cold for this pregnancy, I had one that lasted 6 weeks and I’m currently on a 2 week one! I asked my Gp and pharmacist (Incase Gp was being overly cautious), and both said no to strepsils Shock in fact both said no to everything apart from gargling mouth wash and paracetamol. I feel your pain!
I asked midwife why I’m ill so much and she said immune systems takes a hammering in pregnancy. I’m eating well (5 a day) and resting but makes no difference.

Paracetamol defo fine.

mogulfield · 19/12/2017 22:43

Yes as Bertie said, I don’t know what I’d have done without it my throat was so bad.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 19/12/2017 23:55

Good luck for your scan Lisa. Glad all is looking good Pies and the sonographer was nice.

I'm feeling quite annoyed that I'm having to do all these things like make excuses at work events as to why I am not drinking / pretend not to be drinking when I don't even know if this pregnancy will work out. Work know about my miscarriage and I feel like I'm on the back foot now anyway as they know I'm ttc as a result. I know that sounds awful and obviously am happy to get this chance but at this stage it's highly uncertain and work is all I have

TheGrumpySquirrel · 20/12/2017 00:03

@voxnihili congrats on 6 weeks and getting the 3+! I'm debating whether to hold out till 6 weeks to do my next (only remaining) digital or risk it earlier. I got 2-3 at 4+0 and will be 5+2 on Christmas Day and I don't want to tell my family and get excited if this is doomed!

MsJuniper · 20/12/2017 00:47

Really glad to hear your scan news @Lifeofpies - every positive scan, symptom or test is a step in the right direction. It is so hard when you don't know what the future holds.

missbrightside lovely picture and we have the same EDD, 7th June! Another boy here too :) I have my 16 week scan tomorrow morning, exciting isn't it! Have you told work yet? I'm planning to after Christmas but I've just had a meeting and I could tell a colleague was looking at me thinking "she's put on a bit of weight..." lol. Great guy so nothing nasty intended at all but I'm pretty sure he noticed something was different.

Hope that Thought, Lisa and Foxtrot's scans this week are all positive Xmas Smile

BertieBotts · 20/12/2017 12:33

I have called the doctor this morning so I have my first appointment booked just before New Year. Eeeek! It will actually be on the exact day I had miscarriages last two times so quite good timing really - fingers crossed everything is looking good on that date.

Grumpy - what's the reason for not mentioning if they already know you're TTC? That is the main reason I'm avoiding telling work. They don't know about my previous miscarriages but might have noted that the sick note for one of them had a gynecologist's address stamp on it rather than an ordinary doctor - doh! The notes never say the cause of sickness but still!

ForeverHopeful21 · 20/12/2017 12:40

Fox I asked my GP about Strepsils after being refused them at the pharmacy, she laughed and rolled her eyes. She said that they refuse because they haven't been tested enough for pregnant women but reassured me that they contain no harmful ingredients. She also recommended steaming with menthol crystals, saline nasal spray and full dose paracetamol. I checked all this with the midwife at the hospital and she agreed that all fine.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 20/12/2017 13:13

Just had the scan and it was good news, thankfully. Measuring just about right (I think I'm 9+5 and it measured 9+3, but they said that was an insignificant difference), heart still beating away, waving its little limb buds around at us. Trying to let myself be reassured and to relax and enjoy Christmas.

So glad you got good news too missbrightside!

Foxtrot the pharmacist gave me the Vicks nasal spray and told me to use that and take paracetamol - it's not a miracle cure, but it did help to decongest me a bit.

Grumpy I'm desperately hiding it at work too as I wouldn't want anyone to know anyway, but also I'm applying for a new job and really don't want it to interfere. I actually just didn't go to the Christmas party because I thought that was easier than trying to come up with excuses for why I wasn't drinking at it.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 20/12/2017 14:06

what's the reason for not mentioning if they already know you're TTC

Because I work for old, sexist American men who will sideline me if they know. Ceo doesn't know I'm ttc but he has grilled me twice about baby plans in the last year. Just because I got married and I'm 30.

My direct boss who knows about the miscarriage is lovely but I am certain that he now suspects I'm pregnant again (due to the crap pretend drinking). However don't want to risk the news spreading to big boss and other senior people. They've just given me more responsibility and I may be put forward for promotion next year. I want to get that ball rolling first.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 20/12/2017 14:08

Oh and obviously, even if the pregnancy doesn't work out they'll already have started to plan to sideline me as soon as they find out, so I want to tell them as late on as possible. And I'll have to tell them immediately that I intend to take minimal time off.

BertieBotts · 20/12/2017 16:15

Ah fair enough, what a massive pain!

hotcookie · 20/12/2017 16:28

Welcome grumpy & bertie I remember you from the TTC threads-I hope your stay here is long

Great news re scan lisa & missbrightside

I'm officially 24 weeks today (according to our dates 24 weeks on Christmas eve) so it's great to hit that milestone. She is kicking away (can see it through my clothes!) although I'm still not sure I'm feeling other movement. I think I'm actually starting to let myself think we might get a baby at the end of this.

I do feel like I have put on too much weight (about 10.5kg) but I have been unable to exercise and I'm normally pretty active, but still worry that I'm getting too fat (I lost 3 stone about 4 years ago, and was about 1 stone heavier than my lightest when I got pregnant this time) I have gained about 5cm on my thighs Sad and just feel chunky all over rather than just a bump...
