I can't believe I'm fucking doing this, and I'll get my answer the beginning of next week...

But I might be joining you guys again unless my body is seriously screwed up Hmm

TheGrumpySquirrel · 02/02/2018 22:23

@UnicornsandRainbows1 oh 👋🏼 hi!! Crossing my fingers so tightly for you!

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 02/02/2018 22:34

@TheGrumpySquirrel Oh god I hope so. I'm trying to work it out as it makes such little sense but nothing is ever easy hey?! :)

Brenna24 · 03/02/2018 00:19

Great weight Peach, bet you are glad she came out the sunroof though. Congratulations. I am thrilled for you.

mogulfield · 03/02/2018 03:18

Congratulations Brenna and peach!!! Sorry I missed the arrivals on your babies! I can’t believe they’re all actually coming, which is the point of this thread isn’t it?! I’m so pleased it all went well and they’re both doing well.
38 weeks now and need to realise I’m probably going to end up with a baby! I’ve not given it too much thought, which is weird Confused still need to sort the baby’s bedding for eg!!

AKP79 · 03/02/2018 10:05

Congratulations to Brenna & Peach. So lovely to hear positive news.

I’m coming on here because I think you ladies will understand my worries. So after the high of hearing a really strong heartbeat at the 17 week check on Tuesday, I’m now back to anxiety.

I already have a 6 year old son, my MMC occurred between him and my current pregnancy. I have been feeling movement for a couple of weeks, but for the last couple of days I haven’t felt anything. I’ve tried calling the midwives today, but not getting any answer from the Hosp number I have.

I’m not sure if I’m over worrying or if I should look for more reassurance. I know at 17 weeks the baby is tiny and could just be hiding somewhere where I can’t feel it. I’ve had a massive growth spurt this week so I know there’s a lot more room in there to get lost in.

Not sure what to do?

Flatwhite32 · 03/02/2018 10:22

Aww loving news of new arrivals! Congratulations ladies.

@AKP79 I've got my midwife appointment on Tues and I'm terrified. I don't know what movements feel like, but I don't think I've felt any. No wise words, but I understand the anxiety. The midwife will probably just say it's normal. I had horrible pains earlier in the week and couldn't sleep with worry. Midwife said it's normal, but I'm still worried sick!

AKP79 · 03/02/2018 10:26

Thanks @flatwhite32. I was petrified too so I know how you’re feeling too.

I thought I’d been feeling movement and the midwife confirmed it because the baby I felt it at the same time as the midwife could tell he/she had moved based on the heartbeat. She kept saying ‘did you feel that movement?’ And I could.

It’s not common to feel movement with a first pregnancy until 24 weeks. And with my son I barely felt any because of where the placenta was, but that time I wasn’t carrying all this additional anxiety and worry around!

MsJuniper · 03/02/2018 11:01

Thinking of you this morning @BlueeSpottyTiger, hope your scan has gone well.

I have an anterior placenta, so am fully expecting not to feel movement for a long time yet (I'm 16.5 weeks now). I was a bit upset when they told me - I was so looking forward to feeling the reassurance of movement - but maybe it's actually good to have no expectations of it?

I thought I'd feel so much better once I got past 12 weeks - and I did for a little bit, but I'm now finding it tough. I'm not showing, my symptoms, few as they were, are gone - the heartbeat at the midwife's appointment felt like even more of a shock than the good scans, as I just feel so unpregnant that it feels hard to believe I am. Work also want me to make decisions about maternity leave so they can recruit, and I absolutely hate it - it feels like I'm planning for something that will never happen, like I'm unwittingly running a scam.

AKP79 · 03/02/2018 11:19

lisa I completely get everything you’ve said. I’ve got to plan my own maternity cover and I hate it.

The movement was good but it was making me obsessive and now I can’t feel anything I feel the most anxious yet.

BlueeSpottyTiger · 03/02/2018 15:39

All is well 🤗
Measuring exactly 16 weeks- as my dating scan said. Great hb and long cervix.
And it's a boy! I really thought i would have another girl! Meet Max...
I can relax about not feeling many movements now and that awful pain i had.
I was so relieved when i asked if his is heart was beating and she said yes. I started crying and the poor chinese sonographer had no idea why and was so confused and then i couldnt speak because i was crying so much. So dp had to explain what had happened at my 12 week scan last pregnancy.

I had an anterior placenta and was told at my scan. She was also back to back which is apparently more common with ap. I still felt move at 16 weeks. She was VERY wriggly though.

I was told at my 12 week scan, and they specifically said then that I shouldn't expect to feel any movement until after 20 weeks. It might be that they only mention it if it's anterior?

Lifeofpies · 03/02/2018 18:44

bluee that’s fantastic news, many congratulations on your little boy! I start each scan asking them to turn off my screen and confirm a hb, can’t imagine doing differently.

Really hope to see you back, unicorns

AKP I’m sorry about the anxiety, I think it’s a difficult time waiting for 20w scan, monitoring for movements... know each phase has its challenges. Your baby is probably just hiding away somewhere, but I hope you get some reassurance from the MW.

NoParticularPattern · 03/02/2018 18:52

What a fab scan blue!!!

I have an anterior placenta and I was told at my 20w scan. Although I imagine I could have been told at 12w if I had asked!! I stilll felt movements early mind- definitely a few swooshes and flips before 20w but they took a long time to be identifiable when I wasn’t just sat still trying to feel them. Now my whole body almost twitches when he/she moves.

I am still intact, still overdue and still annoyed that all I hear on a daily basis is about these people who have just had their baby in their bathroom at 36 weeks or something. I’m here convinced I’ll need inducing and then that will result in a c-section which I could really do without as I know I won’t have the luxury of DH on hand 24/7 to help me, so I really need to be able to do everything from day one even if I’m very slow!! It’s pretty much the only thing occupying my mind at the moment so any advice over and above the usual labour induction techniques would be welcome!!! Yes I’m irrational, but baby has moved a lot today so at least I don’t have an excuse for any additional anxiety. Haha yeah I’m not sure I’m convincing even myself!!

Lifeofpies · 03/02/2018 19:19

Ah pattern it must be very hard to think of anything else! Not much evidence for anything, though nipple stimulation seems to be potentially helpful www.cochrane.org/CD003392/PREG_breast-stimulation-for-cervical-ripening-and-induction-of-labour

Lifeofpies · 03/02/2018 19:39

Actually, Cochrane have quite a list of reviews of techniques to induce labour, worth a view!

NoParticularPattern · 04/02/2018 10:59

Ooh thanks pies! I shall have a look!!

Still intact. Heartburn horrendous today!!!

AKP79 · 04/02/2018 11:15

Great news *Bluee!

I’m still feeling panicked as I still haven’t felt movement and today I just don’t feel pregnant, but not sure if that’s my MMC part of my brain on overdrive!

I called the midwives yesterday who said she wasn’t remotely worried and to try not to panic, but that’s easier said than done. Sad
