I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Here we are. Sorry that I left it so late. I was being complacent - underestimated the number of posts over the last couple of days.

Found it.

LucindaE · 13/11/2017 19:47

DeadDoorPost Lucky you were more alert than me! I have never known one of these threads to be used up in a month. I am sure the prevalance of this illness has been massively underestimated.

OP posts:

Copied from end of last thread:

bunnywhat an arse. I would have been livid.

emu is he for real?! What a nearly gingering---- twat.

Just had a massive vom fest and then cried, I'm so fed up with this. I'm 23 weeks and I do feel much better than I did in the beginning but only in the sense that the tablets mostly stop me vomming but I feel nauseous ALL the fucking time.

Thanks for new thread Lucinda Smile

justtheonethen · 13/11/2017 20:00

No idea why that is crossed out! Didn't mean to do that!

Gennz18 · 13/11/2017 20:13

Emu "I could feel a gingering coming on* 😂

Omg auto correct changed it to fingering!!! 😂😂😂😳😳😳

Had an awful night last night, in bed by 7pm, woke at 3am, had a sip of water, vomited. Had to take an ondansetron- was trying to keep myself to 1x4mg per day but will def need 2 today to get me through work (I'm in NZ, not a shift worker!)

Found this interesting article yesterday that I thought you all might be interested in:

justtheonethen · 13/11/2017 20:52

gennz that's a really good article.

justtheonethen · 13/11/2017 20:52

Sorry you had an awful night gennz too Sad

justtheonethen · 13/11/2017 20:53

anew congratulations Star. Get to the gp and get some preemptive meds.

DeadDoorpost · 13/11/2017 21:03

gennz That's pretty much how my book is going to sound. My midwife reckons I should write about my pregnancy experience. I don't quite know how I'm going to do it yet but I'm definitely going to work on it. It'll be good to have something like it out there.

Emu31 · 13/11/2017 21:04

Haha Gennz well that would have been entirely different, though not that much more offensive than a gingering! 😂

Sorry you had such a rough night. Thanks for the article it's really good.

just hugs to you, the nausea is just awful and so wearing.

winkywinkybumbum · 13/11/2017 21:34

My friend dared to utter the words..."why don't you just always make sure you have ginger biscuits by the bed for when it starts....". To be fair to her she didn't know me during my last pregnancy but she tried to disagree with me when I said it wouldn't work. Apparently positive thinking will help. Think I'm going to show her the artical instead.

So far so good though. 4w3d and only heartburn to whinge about. I believe it was 6 weeks on the dot when it hit me last time. Fingers crossed!

Sorry I can't reply to all. Thread moves too fast. Am going to take your advice and get meds started before it hits. Where can I buy the ketostix from?

justtheonethen · 13/11/2017 21:51

winky amazon for ketostix. Angry to your gingering friend. I know some people can only relate to their own experience but FFS!

Shehz21 · 13/11/2017 21:53

Anewjourney Massive congrats!! Flowers
Get yourself to the GP! The HG got under control after week 14 for me. Hope it's a shorter length of time for you. But it definitely starts to get gradually better after the first trimester is over..

justtheonethen Sorry about your uncle.
Can totally understand.. almost 22 weeks and no respite here. Medecines ain't working atm either. Feeling more than miserable. Gentle hand hold :(

Bunny and Emu31 sorry about insensitive comments from stupid people. Glaring is really not enough!!Angry

Batman I think it's good you're taking as much time as possible before you join back work. As long as your body feels ready to tackle with the new schedule of no-more-slouching in bed/sofa.

Genz Thanks for sharing such a good article!

winkybum Yeah positive thinking will cure all the woes in the world. Maybe if you have an accidental vom sesh on her with ginger bits in it she might understand? (Sorry I am being so evil, just can't bear the ginger attacks no more! )

winkywinkybumbum · 13/11/2017 21:55

Good idea! omg the thought of bringing up ginger though Shock.

justtheonethen · 13/11/2017 22:14

shehz hand hold right back at you Flowers

DeadDoorpost · 13/11/2017 23:19

Totally stupid question.. what do period pains feel like again? Because I've got a dullish pain in my lower abdomen and back ache that I don't seem to be able to shake. Only problem is it's been a long time since I had period pains... and I don't just mean because I'm pregnant 😂

Natsku · 14/11/2017 06:55

Sounds similar to period pains Dead also I get the same pains when I'm about to have a diarrhoea attack so er...don't go too far from the loo!

I've switched from taking omeprazole in the morning to taking ranitidine in the evening and it seems to be working much better, very little acid reflux now. Didn't take my doxylamine last night because there's only a couple of pills left so I want to save them in case the prescription doesn't get renewed. Going to call the midwife soon to ask about that. But anyway so far so good despite no med, little bit nauseous after my cup of tea but that could also be from being tired as I woke up at 5 when OH went to work and couldn't get back to sleep.

Mustang27 · 14/11/2017 08:58

Angry to the positive thinking crap that people utter Winky. I know it’s coming from a good place but it just highlights how little they get it.

Congrats on the bfp anew.

How you feeling Dead?

I hope you stay feeling ok Natsku.

I’m back to vomiting all the time I’m actually gutted.

DeadDoorpost · 14/11/2017 09:36

Thanks natsku I've come to the conclusion my body just hates me.
mustang I'm fed up, tired, had the night sweats again really badly, and the pains seem to have fizzled out again.
I thought my waters had gone... nope. I was asleep and dreamt it. Was so upset to wake up to nothing lol.

seizethecuttlefish · 14/11/2017 09:49

Yay, new thread.
Dead your body is really messing about. Sending you hugs.
Anew congrats
Natsku glad things seem to be better
Winky you survived a ginger attack lol. I suspect that even after baby seize arrives I will launch at anyone who even mentions ginger
Sure I’ve missed some people. Hugs to all. I’m off to visit a primary school, in prep for ds starting next year. Had a terrible day yesterday but today WILL BE BETTER!

Natsku · 14/11/2017 09:51

Feeling less and less ok as the day goes on but no vomiting yet at least, but the thought of eating is not good so not sure how I'll manage to eat enough today.

Oklahoma · 14/11/2017 10:04

Dead that sounds like early labour. It’s very annoying though as it could last 2h, 2d or 2w no way to predict. Means your body is doing all the right things though.

DeadDoorpost · 14/11/2017 10:12

Oklahoma uuugh. I can't wait 2 more weeks 😂😂
