I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Fingers crossed you go soon Door

Hello just checking in, sorry can't keep up with all the messages - waves to everyone.

Natsku and Mustang sorry you're both feeling so rough at this stage, how horrible to have the sickness return so badly when you hope the worst is behind you and you are close to the finish line. This illness really is cruel.

anew don't think I have said congrats to you yet - congrats! I think anything is worth a try to prevent the HG, and maybe acupuncture will help more if you get it in before the sickness takes hold. I booked an appointment but was too sick to go to it so have no experience to offer on it.

Dead and Shehz lol about the sexy time. I think I have forgotten what it is, and poor DH has given up hope.

Dead that does sound promising that baby getting ready, though I know fanny daggers are never exactly welcome!

No vomming for me today yet, just the nausea, at work today and spent most of it sitting in my little office doing lots of loud deep breathing with my head in my hands. Colleagues don't bat an eyelid any more! I also have a fun new symptom of feeling like I've been kicked between the legs, it all feels very bruised when I walk. Very strange! Oh the joys of pregnancy.

anewjourney · 15/11/2017 14:43

That’s great to hear Nat

Blonde - “Was hard as I was bloody horney even with sickness and nausea 😂*

Emu - Thank you!

Just the worrying first trimester to get through now. Fingers cross everything will be ok. Can’t wait for the first scan

DeadDoorpost · 15/11/2017 14:44

just the only problem I have with that list is the dummy.. they say you shouldn't use one for a while as it can cause problems with feeding as it's a totally different sucking motion. Once the baby is older it's fine but not for straight away.
And Yeah, I hope so too. I still need to get a changing bag though so might do that in a minute. I need to get out of the house anyway. I've not left it for like 4 days. Oops.
Disco I actually tried a new position just to see if it made a difference. It was good the first time but second time was so uncomfortable we dropped it pretty quickly. But Yeah, getting BH would be uncomfortable. I remember the time I got them. Flipping heck I was in agony afterwards! It was like the muscles just squeezed together and refused to release.

justtheonethen · 15/11/2017 15:05

Didn't know that about dummies. I'm hoping not to use one anyway but will wait until breastfeeding is established. Thank you!

BergamotMouse · 15/11/2017 15:16

Hello! New here and after some advice. I've just found out I'm pregnant again. Suffered hyperemesis with my previous pregnancy, it quickly escalated from about week 8 and I ended up in hospital after vomiting every 10 minutes all day just for an evening for rehydration. After that I managed it with promethazine until about week 22.

I've seen people recommend preemptive medication and to start immediately - I understand the reasoning behind it but can't help but feel I shouldn't be taking the medication until I need it - is this a foolish thing to do?

Also, I was thinking about asking to go on cyclazine as it's 3x a day rather than 4x and I was always more likely to be sick immediately following a tablet (and I'd set my alarm at 3am so I could take them exactly 6 hours apart which I think might have actually been a bit silly but I'd like to avoid that again). I've also seen stuff about a B(?) vitamin - should I ask for this too?

I have booked a doctors appointment for next Wednesday to ask for tablets to have on hand - are they usually willing to prescribe these or will I have a fight on my hand?

Sorry - that's loads of questions but I feel I should be prepared since I now have a 16 month old to look after too.

Thank you for any answers x

BlueButTrue · 15/11/2017 15:21

Found you all again Grin Keep getting confused when a new link gets posted!

Feeling very fed up over here. My bump is painful, I can’t even sit up properly without a great deal of struggle.

Been a rough week.

Due date is Friday. Man who sits next to DH at his work said all 3 of his children came on their due dates.

A girl can dream, eh?

CatalpaTree · 15/11/2017 15:37

I’ve got an appointment with the doctor in an hour and don’t have time to catch up on the thread, sorry Blush

Metoclopramide isn’t working at all anymore. What should I expect or ask Dr for, fellow HG sufferers?

I’m so hungry and sick with hunger and stomach empty but no idea what to eat or drink. So miserable. Need this appointment to go well.

spearo21 · 15/11/2017 15:41

Blue I feel you! I'm only 30 weeks though lol I feel HUGE this time round but just got such a big bump, I honestly look like I'm about to pop! Thankfully I will be induced early so I don't have to worry about a due date but you never know, your little one might arrive exactly when it's supposed to! Fingers crossed!!

Mouse - If i was you, I would go with preemptive meds, soften that blow as much as you can in my eyes. It was a bit of a shock when I found out I was pregnant but I was on meds by week 6 as I just couldn't handle it. I have struggled since with meds but what I really found that helped a great deal was taking omeprazole and I was only put on them at 27 weeks!!! I'm still being sick but the heartburn isn't making my sickness worse and i'm not AS nauseous as I have been the whole way through.

justtheonethen · 15/11/2017 15:43

catalpa get ondansetron. It might be worth adding it to the metoclopromide rather than stopping that, it's the only way they work for me.

bergamot see attached. Congratulations!

blue did you not have a c section booked or was that someone else? Sorry you're having a bad week Flowers

justtheonethen · 15/11/2017 15:43

And catalpa take the meds!!!!! They are safe! I hope your gp is understanding.

CatalpaTree · 15/11/2017 16:06

Thanks just. I'm taking the meds, they're just not working!!

Daffodil397 · 15/11/2017 16:10

Hi all,
Those here back in August would remember that we sadly lost our little boy around my due date. I had vowed never to do an hg pg again but now have totally mixed feelings, would very much love to have another baby if hg a 3rd time round is in any way survivable- aargh can’t believe I’m even writing this!!
These muddled feelings were not helped by a meeting with the consultant about the loss of our baby last week. She decided to give her view that having another baby is the only thing to make us feel better and we should crack on with it so to speak. Coming from a nice place but not helpful.
Anyway I am trying to get my head round it and want my dh to reallyunderstand what it is like for me when I’m sick if I do this again.
I found this cool website which explains chronic sickness using “spoon theory”- it exactly described what it was like for me to have hg!!
Anyway in case it’s helpful for you and loved ones here’s the link
butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/

And you may see me here sometime soon if we decide to go down that road again, until then all the best to you all and virtual hugs over the sick buckets. Xxx

Daffodil* I'm so sorry about your son. The spoon theory is brilliant, thanks for that. I hope to see you back here again if that's what you decide Flowers

Emu31 · 15/11/2017 16:40

Daffodil I'm so very sorry for your loss of your baby boy. I can't even imagine what you must have been through and still be going through. The thought of another pregnancy, especially with the prospect of HG in the mix, must come with a flood of emotions and considerations for you. I'm sure the consultant was trying to be nice but that sounds like such an insensitive thing to say, not helpful at all.
Thank you so much for the spoon theory, it made me cry and is a brilliant way of explaining what it's like to be really poorly for a long time. Having HG has made me think a lot about people with chronic illnesses and how awful it is for lots of people. Thank you for sharing it with us, it's very kind of you to think of what might help others suffering Flowers.

Mustang27 · 15/11/2017 16:46

Daffodil397 you have been in my thoughts since. You will only know in your heart what is best for your family and wether sooner or later is right for you all. I hope the planning comes easy and you can void the dreaded HG if you do decide to have another baby.

anewjourney · 15/11/2017 18:29

Hi Mouse Smile

Daffodil I’m so sorry for your loss. How awful. As if HG isn’t shitty enough. You have such a tough choice to make but I’m sure you will make the right one for you. Be kind to yourself.

Been feeling hints of queasiness all day but not sure if I’m just deadly tired from this cold I’ve had for ages or it’s anxiety! Would really like a few more weeks of enjoying knowing I’m pregnant without stifling nausea if poss SadAngry

DeadDoorpost · 15/11/2017 18:49

Sorry to hear that Daffodil I remember you mentioning it. But we'll be here if you decide to try again.
catalpa how did the Drs go? Metaclopramide stopped working for me too.

I finally got a changing bag! £9 in tk Maxx today which I wasn't expecting but it's waterproof, easy-wipe and a pale blue so DH won't feel weird carrying it. He likes it though which is nice. So I'm going to be sorting that out tonight ready for when BabyDoor gets here so I don't have to worry about suddenly getting that ready for outings etc.

pippanippa · 15/11/2017 19:00

Hi Daffodil, so lovely to hear from you, like Mustang I've been thinking of you and baby James often. I hope you're doing ok.

That is such a difficult decision to have to face, but if you and your DH do decide to have another baby I really hope that you are at the very least spared HG this time. In the meantime sending lots of virtual hugs back to you too xx

justtheonethen · 15/11/2017 19:29

door we got given a lovely black changing bag which is brilliant as he won't look silly carrying it! Good tip to pack it before baby comes!

Does anyone know if mothercare etc will have Black Friday/January sales offers on car seats? Or do they not really get reduced?

anewjourney · 15/11/2017 19:39

Talking of Mothercare and baby items, can anyone recommend me a good car seat? Would like an ISOFIX one ideally!

justtheonethen · 15/11/2017 19:55

anew I'm going to get a maxi cosi pebble and base. But only because out of the Ines that fit onto our pushchair it was the best reviewed! It is an isofix one.

Mustang27 · 15/11/2017 20:43

This is such a fast moving thread at the mo. I saw an article yesterday saying that hg pregnancies are within 0.3-2% of women obviously I’m not sure where and how they got those stats but I’m with Lucinda in thinking that there are a lot more suffering than suggested.

Keep checking for updates from door, pippa and blue cmon ladies I need me some good news and squishy baby photos lol.

Sorry to hear you have the cold again Pippa it’s no surprise though as hg really does zap you then the baby takes what’s left I think.

DeadDoorpost · 15/11/2017 21:32

I'm currently sorting out baby stuff that doesn't really need sorting. Is this what nesting is?! Because I don't have an explanation for it but I feel like I need to do it. It could be down to DH being asked and my sister getting here tomorrow but still.

DeadDoorpost · 15/11/2017 21:36

I think I'm slightly worried that I'm not going to be prepared for when he gets here. I've just repacked my hospital bag as well to make sure everything is there
