I've started packing my hospital bag now :o it's mostly to get things out of the way though cuz I'm just collecting stuff!!!

RE: gestational diabetes, I had my bloods done Monday and results on Thursday came back as 7.4 so I'm just under. They're gonna keep an eye on me but midwife seemed pretty confident I'd make it to term without getting it. We'll see what my sugar addiction has to say about that...

I hit third trimester on Monday!! 🎊🎉 so exciting!!

Loosemoose28 · 28/01/2018 02:29

My hospital bag has been packed for weeks as needed it for two in stays.

Im trying not to over think things/ know too much. But I really think may end up having a earlier than April baby.

Re slings just stay away from baby Bjorn. I haven't met anyone who rates them or find them comfortable.

Birthplan wise the important bits are what you want/ don't want including vitamin K, Syntometrine, breastfeeding or bottlefeeding, skin to skin.

Im getting an extra scan at 31 weeks so will get to see baby again.

ClaireBear1986 · 29/01/2018 10:51

I've not even thought about my birth plan, and not even 100% sure what it is all about.
Think my Midwife is going through it with me at my 31w app, so will wait till then.

I do keep meaning to start on my hospital bag, but then I think it's so early still. Might wait till I go on mat leave to deal with that. Give me something to keep me busy as I am finishing work quite early.

So exciting that everyone is now in the 3rd trimester, but still seems forever away. I'm convinced that he is going to be quite late as well!! I just want him here now. Feels like I have been pregnant for a lifetime. Ha.

emchapman · 29/01/2018 12:56

I'm hoping i can have a water birth and use my hypnobirthing techniques and CD. Although i'm not sure what else actually needs to go on a birth plan?
Alos anxious that i won't get into the midwife led unit if it's too busy as Norwich and Norfolk hospital gets sooo busy!
I packed the baby's bag last night and am halfway through sorting mine out. So many bits that i need to use until then though!
Getting really impatient now. I just want him to arrive! 9 weeks still seems like such a long time away especially as i am the size of a bus! Everyone at work keeps asking me if i'm having twins Hmm

Pumpkinma · 29/01/2018 15:34

@ClaireBear1986 I know what you mean about feeling pregnant forever I feel so heavy now. Quite looking forward to being able to see my feet again.

@emchapman I properly snapped at someone at work the other day for saying something similar to me. I'm so fed up of people reminding me of 'how big I am' like I'm not aware that I'm coming up to 31 weeks pregnant and have a watermelon shaped stomach that I'm heaving around with me 🙄 Why do people feel the need to say things like that. Reminding a hormonal pregnant lady she's fat isn't a good idea to me 😂

I really need to crack on and get organised just finding it so hard to find the time around work, roll on end of Feb when I'm off!

Rae2017 · 29/01/2018 17:32

I've not started my hospital bag yet. Planning on doing it in Feb half term when I'm around 32 weeks.

Started putting the nursery furniture up yesterday. Wardrobe gone up, tonight tackling the cot. I can't wait to put things away as we seem to have baby stuff all over the place upstairs.

I'm beginning to rethink my decision to work up til 39 weeks. I'll see how it goes but I want to give myself enough time to 'chill' before baby comes along. Impossible to know whether he'll be early or late though

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 29/01/2018 17:49

@Rae2017 I'm allowed to take some hols before I go on mat leave - that's how I'm going on leave from 36wks.

Maybe worth looking into if your company would let you do the same?

Loosemoose28 · 29/01/2018 17:53

I am using annual leave to get me to go at 34 weeks have a few friends who ended up going at 31-32weeks. Feel jealous of that plan now.

Rae2017 · 29/01/2018 19:17

@icantthinkofagoodone unfortunately I'm a teacher so don't get the annual leave to take at my choice. I'll have a week off in Feb for half term which is when I plan to pack hospital bag and wash all the baby clothes.

Then we have 4 days off for Easter, in for 3 days and then off for a week..im due the day we come back after that week off so for the sake of getting in for 3 days it would be better for me financially as my mat leave can start on due date (unless he comes early)

But I'm not going to push myself. At end of day having the extra money would be great but if body is telling me otherwise I'll finish earlier.

AnnaMadden · 29/01/2018 19:49

I'm using annual leave to get me to 37 weeks too...started the nursery but not even thought about our hospital bags yet...one thing at a time lol.

I think it's important to try and factor in some down time before baby arrives which is why I'm leaving at 37 weeks...if I last that long. I'm huge now and my SPD is only going to get worse the bigger I get so we'll see but that's the plan 😊

emvy · 29/01/2018 19:56

Joining you all in feeling huge and wanting April to just be here already! The same comments are said to me all the time too. I’m managing to still just smile through gritted teeth but it does take its toll. Very jealous to those going on maternity leave soon. I’m going to 37 weeks which will be the start of the Easter holidays but payment doesn’t begin until school returns 4 days before my due date. Feeling like he might make an appearance before then but as you say Rae, you just can’t tell! Definitely don’t go to 39 weeks for the sake of the money, as you say, see how you feel.

Not even bought things to go in a hospital bag for myself yet. Decided to wait until after half term before I start tackling the the remaining things on the list. Feels like so much to do but no time to do it all with work and so tired at weekends!

Birth plan wise, also clueless. Hoping to ask the midwife at my 31 week appointment next week but planning on keeping it vague anyway.

emchapman · 29/01/2018 21:07

The comments are so frustrating! It's the same lady everyday: "you sure it's not twins" I feel like she expects me to say "yes Susan, It changed overnight! I'm magically having two now!"😂
I'm also trying to work right up until Easter holidays when i'll be 39 weeks. It's down to the money for me too, we moved back to Norfolk to be close to family which meant I changed jobs in my first trimester so only qualify for maternity allowance. Such a huge pay cut and I have about 8 grand debt on credit cards Confused not sure how long i"ll be able to be off with the Bubba either which is such a sad thought.
At least lots of us have half term to get organised! My notes say midwife discusses birth plan at 34 weeks. Don't feel like they have been that great either information so far though

amysaurus87 · 30/01/2018 06:43

Just catching up not been on for a while! No birth plan here yet, all depends where they let me deliver! Was going to ask midwife at 31week appointment!

I'm taking 2weeks annual leave before my mat leave starts which means I'm leaving work at about 36weeks!

I'm getting the same comments about it being twins, have been since about 20weeks. I can't understand why people feel the need to remind a pregnant woman she's big! Baffles me no end!

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 30/01/2018 07:16

@Loosemoose28 I'm not sure if I could deal with 10 weeks at home even if I am getting annoyed at my manager (somehow can't comprehend I am struggling to keep up with all my responsibilities plus more planned when I have a medical appointment pretty much every week...).

I've not actually had any comments on my size yet but I'm not due until very end of April/beginning of May and I'm also carrying relatively small for now. This is with the exception of one colleague-friend l, who has been describing me as "heavily pregnant" since about month 4. I'm like "mate, wait till month 7 or 8, THEN you will see what heavily pregnant really means!"

ClaireBear1986 · 30/01/2018 10:58

How annoying for everyone getting rude comments about their bumps. Why do people feel it's ok to say things like that. My friend gets it all the time, and I know she gets really upset by it.

I get the opposite though, with everyone commenting on how small my bump is and am I sure he is healthy and growing? And how I shouldn't be dieting or worrying about my weight? I'm definitely not doing either.
This really upsets me too, and has sent me into a few mini meltdowns about if he is ok in there. Had my growth scan though and confirmed that he is exactly where he should be. So I just talk over people when they say it now, and ignore them as best I can.

Bez9087 · 30/01/2018 14:52

Iv just been and bought the last bits for my hospital bag to pack tonight.
My friends threw me a surprise baby shower yesterday was lovely and the babies got so spoiled. Very lucky.
Braxton Hicks are now a regular daily occurrence and seem to get frequent but the minute I start timing them they ease off Hmm but I’m happy they do lol.
Got my 48 hour ecg monitor on now had it put on this morn which is great except I’m allergic to plasters and the itch is driving me insane already. Already had piriton too. this is gonna be a long 48 hours uuurrrggghhh.
Hope everyone’s okay? I agree I don’t get why people like to comment on sizes I get it either “oh your very small for someone who’s nearly 30 weeks with twins” or I get “how long left.... your huge for 8 weeks left” until I mention twins then usually goes back to the small for twins comment Shock I think people can’t help themselves sometimes.

dkb15164 · 30/01/2018 16:39

Had my last day (well, nightshift) of work a week ago. I know it seems early to go off as not due till mid-April but I don't earn enough money for it to be worth it really plus I found out because of a technicality I don't qualify for any paid maternity leave other than the mandatory 2 weeks after birth. I am doing internship 3 days a week at the moment plus in my third year of BA hons course at uni and recently got diagnosed with iron deficiency anaemia - anybody else on the anaemia boat out there? My OP is freaking out and trying to force feed me, he thinks I'm too casual about skipping meals (I tend to binge eat about 10pm at night so breakfast and lunch don't worry me) but it's our first and I can see he's trying his best to not make me feel like an invalid with all his worrying. Read online 1 out of 7 pregnant women get it especially those who previously got heavy periods and are under 20 which I fit right into. My birthdays coming up on Valentine's Day and at my age it feels really weird not to be drinking - hopefully I'll arrange a babysitter for my 21st birthday next year. Hope this isn't rude but what's everybody's ages on here? I'm worried I'm going to be the youngest mum at playgroups, do you think people will mind the age gap? I know mums are choosing to have their kids a lot later nowadays. I'm on the same page about people commenting on bump sizes, it's so weird. My FIL really gets on my nerves, he went to hug me goodbye after dinner and then rubbed the bump before I could stop him and said "goodbye to you too, baby" - my partner thought it was really weird and creepy too and told his DM to have a word with him. Hope I don't have to spend the rest of the pregnancy reminding people it's my bump and they can't touch it without my permission. Kicking strong, hope all is well fellow MNers.

HarryHarry · 30/01/2018 19:38

Perhaps this is the one good thing about being pregnant abroad - nobody comments on my bump! Or if they do, I'm oblivious because I don't know what they're saying! Grin

HarryHarry · 31/01/2018 01:28

Saw the doctor today. Found out that I have somehow put on 7.5 pounds in the last 3 weeks. If my weight gain continues at this rate I will have gained at least 35 pounds by the end of the pregnancy, which is the higher end of normal. I really want to keep it under control so that I don't go too far over as I dread the amount of work it will take to lose it all again. The thing is, I don't know how! In terms of diet and exercise, I haven't changed anything. I eat very little and walk everywhere. I also don't know where it's all going as I look pretty much the same as usual except for the big bump. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Bez9087 · 31/01/2018 12:34

@dkb I have been anemic in all of my pregnancies. This one is the worst it’s been im on iron tablets twice a day and they are closely monitoring the levels. I’m 31 this year Confused not till summer time though.
Got both kids off school / nursery today eldest high temp and youngest suspected chicken pox. What’s the saying it never rains?! Shock
Lots of snuggle on sofa and films in order for today. Hope everyone is well.

DaisyLand · 31/01/2018 12:43

@dkb15164 im 32 but i'm really happy right now as this weekend is my birthday and i've just been told i'm GD free so i can have birthday cake Cake

It's been quite a stressful week the last one, AP is doing my life and ruining my experience. Been 3 hours in the hospital friday night and another 3 on Monday, good thing is everything is ok (growth, fluid and umbilical cord) and i've seen my baby twice this week.

Im waiting for a call to check whther i've got UTI hoping not!

twiddlerthefidget · 31/01/2018 19:36

I'm 34 but had my first at 19 (big age gap). Noone minded the age gap. I was more worried about it than they were!

Rae2017 · 01/02/2018 06:34

Feb! We're having our babies month after next. And partner must be getting excited....caught him reading a pregnancy book yesterday 😁

emchapman · 01/02/2018 08:33

As if it's only two months away Grin
My due date is 4th april, i has my 31 week midwife app yesterday and as i'm measuring big she said they could possibly talk about induction at 38 weeks if i am on the same centile line at my next app! scary/exciting thought that i could have a baby in just 7 weeks!
Anyone else find their partner is being weird about sex? It's been a month and he tells me it's because he's freaked out because of the baby. Doing my head in though!

AnnaMadden · 01/02/2018 10:24

@dkb15164 I turned 40 in November but I was 17 when I had my first baby, 19 my second and 21 my third. I too was worried about attending groups due to my age but honestly...it's all about the kids as that's your common denominator and the age of the parents becomes irrelevant. In fact I have kept in touch with a lot of the mums I met a baby groups etc...and they are all older than me.

@HarryHarry I weighed myself yesterday for the first time since hitting 24 weeks and I was 8lb heavier meaning a total gain of 22lb so far. I seems a lot of weight but other than my huge belly and bigger than usual boobs I really don't look any different any where else! Hopefully that'll mean we'll lose a fair chunk too lol.
