My messages keep disappearing from here! Grrr!

Anyway...@ICantThinkOfAGoodOne I notice you are suffering from PGP...I have been diagnosed with SPD and had a pelvic brace fitted today. Do you have one or are you managing just with the crutches? How are you coping with it? Be good to exchange notes lol

Fieau · 23/01/2018 20:14

Started painting the nursery today. Exciting!

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 24/01/2018 06:25

Hey @AnnaMadden - no brace for me currently. I do a couple of long commutes every week and it's apparently not suitable for my lifestyle, which involves a lot of sitting (apparently they're uncomfortable if you're sitting a lot?).

That said, I have a physio appointment today, so we shall see as it has got a bit worse again 😩

I've decided to take up pregnancy yoga/pilates once a week, too - I'm starting to get aches and pains elsewhere and don't want to completely atrophy while I'm "taking it easy". Found a good local one where the instructor is also a trained physio, which is good!

How far along are you, may I ask?

ClaireBear1986 · 24/01/2018 08:12

How do you find the Pregnancy Yoga @ICantThinkOfAGoodOne?
I have my 1st class tonight and I am both excited and nervous about it.

Looked into doing pilates as well, but the tutor said I would have needed to start at the beginning of my pregnancy and I was now to far along to start. Gutted :(

I have been looking into hynobirthing as well, just the CDs and books. Not convinced if it is worth giving them a shot or not.

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 24/01/2018 09:37

@ClaireBear1986 not started yet - only came up with the idea the other day and the next round of classes doesn't start till 22 Feb. I'm going to give it a crack and see how it goes for one lesson, but I'm getting kind of desperate tbh - previously I used to do a lot of walking, but PGP has put a stop to that.

I'm definitely getting some hypnobirthing cds once I've been paid this week, they're only £11 so if they don't work for me at least I haven't wasted loads of money! There are classes round here too, but at £150 a pop I think I'll give them a miss!

Got NCT classes starting in about 3 weeks too. How have other people found them?

ClaireBear1986 · 24/01/2018 10:33

I have signed up for a 6 week Daisy Birthing, Active Antenatal Class which starts tonight. It's not just yoga, so hopefully it will be really helpful. Also hoping to meet some local Mums.

Yeah the classes I saw were quite expensive (£200 plus) and I have spent a fortune on NCT classes already so think I will just get some CDs as well. Everyone seems to recommend Maggie Howell and you can download it on to your mobile as well.

AnnaMadden · 24/01/2018 14:08

@ICantThinkOfAGoodOne I'm 29 weeks +1. I have a brace fitted by the physio and it provides so much relief...especially when walking. Just by lifting the baby slightly out of the pelvis has made such a difference. I sit down pretty much all day at work and it's been absolutely fine.

I had to give up my Pilates class when the SPD got so bad as the moves were just aggravating it and it ended up being a waste of money. I still do the pelvic floor element and that will have to do for now!

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 24/01/2018 17:36

@ClaireBear1986 let us know how it goes!

@AnnaMadden yeah, I'm going to lay down £11 on the first class to see how it goes then if it's good I'll get a 6 lesson ticket I think. Hopefully it is, because I really need to do something!

Is your PGP pain mainly in the front, back or sides? For me, the actual symphysis pubis joint can be very uncomfortable, especially turning over at night or if I forget myself and do something that involves moving my legs far apart, but day-to-day it's round the back in the sacroiliac joints that hurts virtually all the time, to a greater or lesser extent.

AnnaMadden · 24/01/2018 18:10

@ICantThinkOfAGoodOne my pain started just at the front and moved to back and front a couple of weeks ago. The pain now also emulates into my hips. The brace takes the pressure off the front which helps with walking...unless i step to the side or turn over in bed then I know about it! The pain is the back is there most of the time but much more bearable since using the brace.

AnnaMadden · 24/01/2018 18:15

Hi ladies, sorry to change the topic of conversation but I need a moan/reassurance!!
Having a bit of a shocker since entering 3rd trimester. I went home early last week as the baby hadn't moved but he was fine once I got home and did the cold water thing. Then on Monday I went to work, was sick three times in the morning, cried in front of the headteacher as baby wasnt moving again and went home! I emailed my line manager (a man) as the midwife said it might be down to overdoing it and stress and to rest, then went to the docs yesterday and turns out I have a virus! I haven't been in again today but I'm really stressing out about going in tomorrow. I work in a small team (4) and we only just cover all bases so they are REALLY thin on the ground without me. My line manager hadn't replied to my emails til I emailed him again today checking he got them. I know I'm being really stressy and crazy but I can't stop feeling really guilty for not being at work/feel like they are all pissed off with me. But at the same time I need to look after myself!
I never used to panic/worry this much but I feel like I'm going a bit crazy and being a total nutter worrying all the time. Anyone else feel as insane as me?! Or am I just stressing over nothing? I feel like work think I'm being a drama queen!

DaisyLand · 25/01/2018 12:34

@annamaden actually I just bought one ! 2nd one for £25. That’s a better deal Smile

@emchapman poor you ! Think that you’re not going to work just because you’re not feeling well and that at the end you’re the 1st one that wishes would be better. Work comes second and they’ll need to deal with your absence soon anyway when you go on maternity leave. Hopefully you’ll soon feel better. I’m suffering more anxiety than ever so no , you’re not a total nutter Flowers

OP posts:
ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 25/01/2018 13:13

@emchapman you're definitely not the only one stressing about work! I have a lot of extra appointments and always worry I'm a burden when I have them. I've been trying to take some work with me, but tbh it's just counterproductive as it's impossible to concentrate in a busy waiting area while also trying to listen out for your name!

I think the thing is that we're so used to putting work first in our lives - for decades in some cases - that forcing it to take a back seat is really hard. But trying to struggle through doesn't help anyone either, so you just need to convince yourself to relax for a while!

emvy · 25/01/2018 19:50

Definitely not alone emchapman. You must look after yourself because by doing so, you’re looking after baby and baby comes first. Work understand this, I’m sure. It always feels like work falls apart without us and it’s horrible feeling like you’re putting others in a difficult/overworked situation by not being there but the truth of the matter is - they always cope! Things don’t fall apart and everybody is fine. If they can’t understand that you need to rest for your baby’s sake, let alone your own, while you have a virus then they’re not even worth stressing about. Baby is number one. Never feel guilty about putting little one first!

emchapman · 25/01/2018 20:39

Thank you all ladies Flowers think I just needed to be told that by someone other than myself! Haha. Feel a lot better about it now! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who stresses. So hard balancing everything- and it's only going to carry on....!
Has everyone written their birth plans/started packing their bag? My midwife said I should do it as soon as I'm in the third trimester but I'm so impatient I think if I do it all now it will make me even more so!

Bez9087 · 26/01/2018 09:22

Iv made a list for my hospital bag that’s as far as I have got Blush I have packed the babies bag though so that’s a start lol!
Had a growth scan yesterday and both babies measuring 3lb 1oz each at 28+5. Was quite happy with that they are both on the 50th centile so far for growth. Not got my next one now for four weeks.

HarryHarry · 26/01/2018 12:26

Bez9087 Good to hear your babies are doing well!

emchapman Hope you're feeling better!

Is everybody doing pelvic floor exercises? I wasn't going to bother but yesterday I learnt the hard way (when baby kicked me in the bladder) that I really need to! I just keep forgetting.

emvy · 26/01/2018 17:59

Bez that’s great news they’re growing so well Smile. I haven’t done anything but write my hospital lists either - haven’t done baby’s bag either. Planning on getting to it after my break away at 32 weeks.

Harry, yeah I’ve been doing pelvic floor exercises but not as many times as you’re meant to! I was doing it once a day but have upped it to twice a day recently as I’ve been feeling the same as you - those blows to the bladder certainly hit home how important they are!

AnnaMadden · 26/01/2018 21:48

@DaisyLand this was advertised today...

AnnaMadden · 26/01/2018 21:50

@DaisyLand just caught up with posts lol...seen you already bought one! Mine was £20...Only used a couple of times. Glad you got one though...

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 27/01/2018 16:42

Omg, you guys are freaking me out talking about having made birth plans and packed your bags - it hadn't even crossed my mind!

(Not that I really have anything to pack, currently. I've been too worried about tempting fate to buy any clothes or toys and am getting a bunch of kit free in a fortnight)

How detailed are your birth plans? Have you included stuff you can't do/have (eg I can't have pethidine or penicillin) as well as stuff you would prefer/not prefer (eg yes to gas & air and hypnobirthing CDs, no to epidural pls)?

Was also wondering if anyone has experience with GD? I got diagnosed with it beginning of last week, at about 25+3. It's pretty borderline atm, which makes me hopeful I can control it with diet but at the same time I've read it can really kick in at about the 30 week mark and drugs are likely in my future anyway 😞

On the upside, I get to see baby again at 28 weeks, so every dark cloud and all that!
